In a joint sitting of Parliament, Lady Tanya Bryce was sworn in as the new Governor of the Commonwealth of Chimaea. After a week of administrative decisions, this cements her place as the executive leader of the Commonwealth.

Some, though, have not taken to the new Governor. A fair amount of MPs in Lady Bryce's own party, the Liberal Democrats, were absent from today's sitting in a show of protest against what they claim as an 'illegal revolution'. These allegations are not without grounding--the Chimaean High Court ruled that the coup was against the terms set out in the Constitution, which gave legality to an overthrow of the Government in cases of breakdown in law and order.

"What's transpired today is the most disgusting and disgraceful pervertion of democracy I've had the misfortune to encounter. A military coup launched against us... Since when has taking over by force of arms been legal? I say Lady Bryce should step down and hand power back to Sir Reginald!"

Despite the questionable legality of the coup itself, once a Governor has been sworn in, the only ways of forcing the seat is another coup or an impeachment, the former which is unlikely as Lady Bryce has the backing of the military and the latter needs several conditions to be met before proceedings can take place. So for the meantime, Chimaeans will have to wait till the promised general elections to chose between Lady Bryce or another Governor.

Although there are some Chimaeans who seem quite happy with the new Governor:

"Yeah I think she'd be ok... better than the last one, though that's not too hard!"

"If she's anything like her father, then Chimaea will be much better off, I reckon."

"Yeah she doesn't seem too bad... quite a good looker hey... about time we had someone pretty!"

Lady Bryce has also broken a mould, becoming the first woman Governor in the history of Chimaea. There have been a large amount of women in positions of power such as Ministers and even the Prime Minister, but never a female Governor.

In her customary short speech to Parliament after taking the oath of office, she asked for calm and prayers for Chimaea in this turbulent time. She also thanked the present government for patience and made a point of naming the Prime Minister and the previous Cabinet in her thanks.

Whatever is in store for Chimaea, this enigmatic woman holds the reigns to the future.
