Automobiles... on a roadtrip... FOREVER! (Intro Post/RP)

14-03-2004, 00:55
Millions of cars, trucks, RVs, SUVs, station wagons, vans, etc. come to a stop. Out of the front one, an absolutely enormous RV, painted like the logo of the group, which was a road, stepped a man in a suit, black jacket, shirt, and pants, with a yellow tie.

Two other people dressed similarly came out, and put a podium in place in front of him, attached a lapel microphone to him, and placed a video camera in front of him. "Greetings, people of the world! We are... THE MOTORISTS!"

The people pressed a button on a control panel, and a recording of a crowd going wild went off.

He waved his hands down, telling the "crowd" to quiet down.

"We currently number five million, but we hope to have more join up as we go along. I am Lead Driver Richard Mencken. We currently are parked in the North Pacific, on land of course. We ask if anyone has any odd roadside attraction we may wish to visit, and if so, please state the region."

They flipped the wild crowd switch again.

"I also ask if any nations have any weapons to sell us to let us defend ourselves, please tell us. Nothing that can't be stowed in the back of a compact car, please. Oh, and if any leaders wish to visit us, please do come. Just notify us before hand by calling my satellite phone. The number is on the screen below. For now, I must go meet with some of the other government officials. Oh, and yeah, if you know any gas stations near here, please tell us."

And, as before, the crowd wild switch was flipped.

Then, on the screen, a message: "Please stay tuned for more information on THE MOTORISTS"

On the broadcast, a screen popped up other than live feed of the motorists working, playing, etc. It read, and was read aloud by a narrator:

"Overnight, one million new motorists in 742,451 new vehicles joined our little convoy. The Logo RV is pleased."

Pictures of people driving up are flashed across the screen. SUVs, cars, vans, and even a group of motercyclists.

"Next up is a documentary on our government! Enjoy! And remember, you are welcome to visit any time, and we are always looking for new places to travel."

The screen stacticed for a second, and the flipped to a new camera. "Greetings, i'm Rhonda Draver, Motorists News Network. And this is a documentary on the government. We are inside the lead vehicle in our convoy, the Logo RV, the center of our government. Here, Lead Driver Richard Mencken and his staff lead the country. Elected when we first started our roadtrip, Mencken has led us to our current stop. His staff formulate policy here, but any legislation must be proposed by at least a third of the cars here, and passed by the RV Operators. More on that later. Behind this door is the command center, where Mencken works and controls the massive convoy as best as possible, as well as our foreign policy, etcetera. Over there is his office. Let's take a look inside."

She walked into the office with her camera crew. "Here you can see a computer, a secured bookshelf, and a satellite phone. He's not in his office now, though. Let's go check out the RV Operators I mentioned earlier."

She walked out of the Logo RV and back to another one not far behind it. "Every 10 cars elects someone to take over an RV. Anything that people don't have in those ten cars, like most don't have television, or bathrooms, or computrs, the RV operator provides it through the RV. All the RV operators vote on legislation proposed by the cars. And that's our government! Now, we present to you, again, a simple live video feed."

Stay out of our country, buddy. We're still trying to cope with our own traffic. We would have to carpet bomb you, which would be such a waste...

"Lead Driver Mencken here, don't worry, we have no desire to be carpet-bombed. I would like to re-iterate, we would like to visit any region with odd road-side attractions! We like odd roadside attractions. Like this one time, on the way to where we are now, we saw a giant wooden duck! It was about five meters high! Cool, huh?"
