In a move which has sparked outrage from the senate's opposition parties, the governing Conservative Pact has passed legislation allowing for the enslavement of Jagiellonia's criminals. According to the Irreformable Convict Act, Jagiellonian felons, when convicted of their third crime, are stripped of their citizenship and sold to domestic corporations as slaves, to live out their lives in servitude. Perhaps more shocking is that Queen Issabella Augustina has publicly endorsed this new legislation, calling it a "fine tactic in the war against the criminal underworld which plagues our nation".
Over the past week, a dozen prison riots have occured, leading to the death or injury of thousands of inmates, as Jagiellonia's armed forces and civil service have begun to implement the new legislation.

No one cares? Cool.

The enslavement of your criminals is perhaps the best idea one could think of. Although releasing it to the public would be the wrong thing to do considering the large amount of hippy nations in the world who thrive for peace yet they are the first to pull the trigger.

The Empire of the Iron Eagle condemns this practice. Punishment is due criminals, but to be sold into slavery for their offenses is beyond what is reasonable. Slavery is not a practice that can be mildly tolerated, or somehow justified. When a person is sold, as a piece of property, you have done more than kill them - you have taken their humanity. You have robbed them of what is ultimately most important to any people.

The Senate shall take this matter under consideration. We do not stand for slavery, and will not allow to proceed, no matter how much one attempts to justify it. Economic measures will be considered, and if those fail, other methods will be taken under consideration.

This is the final warning, or you will learn.

Her Elegancy takes offense at your nation's reply. Her Elegancy points out that in the past, the Duchy of Luxorn once followed measures along those lines. Three years later, that measure gave pretext to the Davyson Invasion. Enslavement only breeds cause to intervention by foreign kingdoms.

Akilliam: Indeed, it seems you do expect us to cower before your might. We shall not. Your threats shall not affect the decisions of our democraticly elected government. Ever.

Then, it would seem, that the Empire shall have to decapitate that government. Some will accuse the Empire of aggression; to save human beings from slavery, we will glaldly take on that title. If it means that we must be considered rogue to save human beings from slavery, then we will gladly accept that title.

But Democracy, the common cry of the oppressor, will not work. A democracy can be just as violent as a despotism. A Republic can be just as diabolical as a dictatorship. And if your government did decide to enact this stupidity, then you should consider removing those officials - or we will.

As far as we know, we are exporting nothing to your nation, therefore such an embargo is of little concern to us.

Do you not understand? At a time of war we can field an Army that would equal a third of your popullation. A third! For every male in your nation, we can field a soldier. This does not speak of our immense naval power, a force that could level your cities at a whim.

Think of your people, those who have not been sold like dogs. If it does come to war, you will be united with the Empire and our garrisons shall ensure that human rights are enforced.

People who impose sanctions on nations they don't even trade with amuse me greatly. Anyway, we shall stand by our ally Jagiellonia against any nosy dissenters against their proven method of decision.

For the record, we do not have the concept of 'human rights' in O&I, largely because the bulk of our political class cannot, strictly speaking, be considered human.

We do however take a dim view of countires who seek to impose their cultural norms on others without first trying to understand how and why those values have developed.
