The government of Hudecia is holding elections, please vote for the person you would most support.

*Hudecian Family Party*
*Omar Al-Shareef*

This is the result of a merger of several religious parties. Although Omar is Muslim, he has the backing of several high profile Christian organizations including the Baptist Society of Hudecia. Their policies are extremely right-wing and include measures to help religious organizations.

*Liberal Democratic Party*
*Elena Maetova*

The incumbant, Elena took power after the last President was assassinated and has led the country through several wars. Her platform calls for a massive reorganization of the government so that it can take over most institutions, including power, which is presently in private hands.

*Communist Party*
*Marcus Deator*

Not much is known about the candidate. He seems to have come from nowhere politically, but is adept at making and delivering speeches and at stirring up passsions in a crowd.

*Neo-Fascist Party*
*Donald Anderrson*

A rising star amoung the Fascist parties. Vocal and intelligent, this politician is hard to defeat in an argument. Most of the other mainstream candidates try to ignore him since they are afraid that recognizing his existance may cause the already large fascist movement to grow further.

*Hudecian Conservative Party*
*Nathan MacNally*

An immigrant to Hudecian, Nathan favours a more relaxed immigration code and lots of subsidies for the nation's industries. Tariffs are a popular theme for him and he would raise them to record levels if elected.

Omar stands up to the platform addressing his cheering supporters after he had cast his ballot. Standing beside him is a the head of the Jewish Hudecian Society and Pastor Bondel.

"Thank you! In our country today religious freedoms are the most precious things we have. We must work to support our religious institutions and promote tolerance amoung all people! Together we can build a better tomorrow!"

The crowd cheers.

Donald Anderson sets up in front of his own crowd that is gathering.

"For too long, the government has been controlled by the rich elitists. Today we have the chance to take back our government and institute a new reign of freedoms! We must look to ourselves and to our nation with pride. Thank you!"

The crowd encircles him as he tries to walk back home.

Didn't want to seem to be promoting any one of them... they all have flaws... just to be fair.

With preliminary results showing a massive Fascist victory, thousands of Hudecians have hit the streets in protest blockading traffic and even firebombing the Fascist party headquarters.

Anderson was heard saying that when he become President such "wanton acts of violence will not be tolerated" and accused the current administration of weak will in opposing these protestors

All these characters have flaws...but Zoogiedom supports Elena! They all have flaws, but she is a liberal democrat...

"Facists," said the President again, having only recently responded to Hogseat. "Let us hope the citizens do not vote for him."

In sharp contrast to the protests in Hudecia prime, in a region dubbed "East Hudecia" the early results are met with jubilation.

"When I am declared President of Hudecia, my government will bring about massive reforms to the democratic process. Currently, the democratic system is a mess of beauracracy, I shall repair the mess and bring about a truely effective system of government to Hudecia." Anderson declared on a Meet the Politicians! program on Hudecian TV.

"What about our allies and our foreign relations?" The reporter asked.

"It is time for Hudecia to step out and support the embattled government of Hogsweat which have just came out of the tyranny of communism. We would use our military fleet to defend and supply the fascist government there and around the world." ANderson replied.

"As much as we do not support communist governments per se, we cannot allow a military dictatorship to take over." Elena Maetova countered.

"So if elections were to be held and the people voted in support of a fascist government you would have not complaint then?" Anderson injected.

"Well .. we would have to decide that if it occured... but I am sure it would not happen..." Elena stammered.

"What if it did?" ANderson said more forcibly.

"I don't answer hypothetical questions." Elena replies quickly.

"Well I do, if they voted to go fascist the government should oppose such a move militarily. Democracy is the only way to go. The people of the nation would have been duped or frightened into voting in such a way" Conservative candidate Nathan interrupted.

This vote would be more like the French Presidential elections (I decided to try to create my own form of government). Hudecia has a parliamentary system but has a president who is elected by the will of the majority.

If a 50%+ vote is not obtained by any candidate the field is narrowed until one does. (I won't restart voting, that's too much trouble, I'll just say that certain parties will support another party - ie. Conservatives support Liberals over Fascists, Family supports Conservatives over Liberals etc...).

In this phone call we both agreed that the threat posed by the fascist candidate Donald Anderson poses a serious threat to stability in Hudecia. I call on all my supporters to vote for the Liberal Democrats, as I would never put my political ambitions before the good of the nation."

Message to all Non-Fascist Candidates from the Edolian High Command:
"We are very concerned over the situation in East Hudecia. Edolia is willing to deploy peace-keeping forces to put down any fascist insurrection."

The R.O.C govrenment has announced plans to sponsor the Conservative party with $8.7m USD. (OOC: That is, if it's legal)

The President of the United Socialist States of Radivostok has expressed an interest in these elections and will be watching closely. Although remaining officially neutral and will recognise any government the populace votes in by democratic means, unofficially it is understood that Premier Jackson is backing the Communist Party candidate Marcus Deator, and hopes he will achieve victory.

I don't suppose a donation to Omar's mosque counts as an election donation? :)

Election laws in Hudecia are very lax when it comes to political donations. Candidates must disclose publicly their supporters within a month of the election but can receive as much money from any source.

News Broadcast:

"Elena Maetova, in what could be an act of desperation to defeat the fascist candidate Anderson, has announced her "New Deal", which takes policies from her rivals in the Conservative and Family parties."

"Her new policies include;
1) Guaranteeing "special status" for religious institutions
2) Increasing subsidies for businesses
3) Increasing military funding
4) Increased accountability for government officials"

"In past weeks her government has come under increased attack by Anderson for the corruption charges that are rampant in her government. It is hoped that these new policies will help her gain support from the conservative elements."

We are donating $US 5 million to Omar's mosque for "urgent renovations" long overdue. :)

The government of Babylonn supports Elena in her quest for the presidency.

Conservative Leader MacNally accepts the Taiwanese political donation pledging to use it in the upcoming Parliamentary elections. The Family Party and Omar similarly is reaching out for support.

(Got an idea, since this vote is for President, the money donated to the different parties will help them gain seats in the Parliamentary elections, which I'll post after this election. Also, money will be allocated according to how many votes each party gets. Just don't get carried away though :wink: )

As news of Elena overtaking the fascist candidate in the polls, scenes of jubilation are caught on camera all over Hudecia. Conservatives, Liberals, religious and non-religious gather and celebrate.

In East Hudecia, scenes of carnage include the looting of a police station. Hudecian National Guard are called out to try and control events.

"East Hudecians will refuse to live under the tyranny of another!" Anderson cried at a rally. "Any attempt to occupy us will only result in pain and suffering."

The crowd (now a mob) rushed the riot police in central Pila.

OOC: Speaking as a Canadian I can say that GW Bush's election was more democratic than our current or past Prime Ministers. (Actually our current PM wasn't even elected at all - appointed by his party)
