Very likely, this "new" outfit is made up of ex AA/ACC members. Since the AA/ACC was defeated by a coalition of defender alliances they've splintered off into several smaller groups like this.

Of course I am the famous Lord Tom, of Meritocracy fame, and oldest nation around.

I'm also aghast to see I misspelled my own region, but the error shall remain at this point. My Greek isn't the strongest. It is, of course, <i>New Lacadaemon</i>, home of the Black Guard.

As for the nature of the Black Guard, we are attempting to assemble a coalition of nations formerly of the ACC, which I actually commanded by proxy at one point. We are taking the best aspects of the Atlantic, a committment to professionalism and quality organization, and trying to pull that into something which will be a capable entity fully within the NS rules.

When I talk about military tactics, I'm hoping to recruit people who will know how to fight smartly, with a special appreciation of the Clausewitzian maxim that "Politics is War". I intend to fight smart wars, politically astutely, but this is an organization which does not apologize for seeking to increase its own fortunes and glory. We will abide by our word, but we very well may act.

Having spoken with many people, there is a consensus opinion that there are increasingly fewer viable places for people to go to involve themselves in active military action, and the Black Guard is one effort, which I hope to see most successful, to remedy this situation.

OOC: The fact is, what point is there to all these defender alliances without someone who can invade. We're trying to restore the balance, for those of you in the know, by putting some aggressors in the mix. If I can do that, despite the problems of some, I think the game as a whole will benefit. :)
