Peoples' Petition
A resolution to increase democratic freedoms.

Category: The Furtherment of Democracy Strength: Significant Proposed by: Soliel

Description: Whereas, in the world, the People is denied their right to protest unpopular legislation. Noting, with regret, decisions are made that effect the Peoples' lives without their consent. The common ability to vote and to choose whether to accept or reject has been steadily eroded by the Peoples' government.

If the ruling government ignores the protests of the People, they may choose to repeal that legislation. Let it be resolved, that the People of any nation, by the powers vested in them, may draw up a Petition. If the majority of the People sign the Petition in 30 days, and submit to the government of that nation, the government must repeal that law and any subsidiaries within 5 days. The People have the right to gather signatures peacefully, and no act of force, violence, or unnecessary persuasion can be used by the Government to discourage the above-mentioned process.

In this way, may the oppressed people regain their right to choose, and create a voice for the People, in how their government is run.

Voting Ends: Thu Mar 11 2004

Please urge your Regional Delegate to support this Resolution. This could mean if your people will have the option to choose.
