Rixtex
08-03-2004, 14:52
This is the first poll of a number of directors of the UNSC. The election is at different locations with different candidates because the NS Forum limits the number of options which can be added to a poll.

Each participant has three votes, one vote in this poll, one in Poll 2 and one in Poll 3. Please cast votes in all three polls. A link to Poll 2 and Poll 3 can be found in the replies below.

Please see this link for the election announcement and rules:

The Republic of Colony States welcomes your vote. We are a small, but economically powerful nation and we represent a region which is rich in IT talent. ...well, that and sausage and cheese party trays. Space is not just for the industrially powerful, one has to know what to do when one gets to space. The nations of our region have been contemplating space exploration for a long time and we will bring valuable insight to what can profitably be accomplished. As we're all aware, many attempts at sustained space exploration have failed because of a lack of economic planning. We will be sure that there is a sensible voice on the Board so that only realistic and profitable ventures are taken. This will ensure that our exploration of space will continue into the future. Thank you for your support in voting for the RCS.

*Broadcast to all cable and satelite channels via Bri-SAT*

Prof. Tomi Kuper (http://www.benovision.co.uk/NS/TomiKuper01-1.jpg) steps onto an outdoor stage and up to a podium peppered with microphones and cameras.

"The people of Watfordshire - the Shiree - extend our greetings to you all"

(some nations with strict censorship policies may wish to edit the scene that follows, as a swathe of scantily-clad Military Dancers perform the welcoming dance of 'the friendly eunuch'. The dance contains moves that certain puritanical nations may find prurient to say the least)

As the hub-ub dies down, Professor Kuper continues;

"Watfordshire is a nation of caring, peaceful people. We care for our environment, we care for each other and we care about creating a progressive future for those who follow us. The mandate of my people, should I be elected to the UNSC Board of Directors, is to ensure that space, our space; is explored with tenacity, vigour and with a healthy respect for everything we encounter.

We in Watfordshire are prepared for such exploration. Our domestic enterprises into the Earth's orbit have been primarily to place those communications satelites by which I am transmitting this message to you all, but - thanks to the collaberation with our partners of the IFTA, the largest trading block in the world (http://invisionfree.com/forums/CACE/index.php?c=5) - we are witnessing a new dawn in technology and co-operation that will transport us higher than even some of our most hardened party-goers have been before"

I hope you will consider placing your vote with me. Vote for the Shiree, and you shall see your investment rewarded with passion, verve, humour and joy.

Please don't hesitate to ask any questions (ooc: by replying to this thread, via TG, or in the CACE Diplomatic Lounge (http://invisionfree.com/forums/CACE/index.php?showforum=7)I thank you.

*Broadcast ends*

We applaud Prof. Kuper for his passion, however it should be stressed that exploration of space, be it robotic or by humans, should be approached very carefully. Only clear, rational, conservative thinking will ensure a long-lived and successful exploration program. The RCS will deliver this level of thoughtfulness and prudence if elected to a position on the Board of Directors.

(OOC: I'm 5CN's puppet)

To those of you who do not know of the nation of the Five Civilized Nations, we will open ourselves to all. The Five Civilized Nations is a massive benevolent nation that is highly regarded by everyone. The Five Civilized Nations is a member of two alliances, the International Allied Defense Federation (IADF) and the Global Defensive Alliance (GDA). As a founding member of both alliances, the Five Civilized Nations plays an important role in events that occur in the world. In addition, the Five Civilized Nations is known for its generosity. We have donated US$500 billion in funds to nations and charities to help develop struggling nations. In addition, we have set aside a further US$2 trillion to be used for future investment/donations.

Besides this, the Five Civilized Nations is a large nation with a population of 1.5+ billion and with a budget of trillions. We are generous and are benevolent. We shall share our wealth with the world and we will help create a new order in our world. We will work readily and hard with other nations to expand into the farthest reaches of space and transform the universe into what will in the end be a human hegemony over life...

Voting for the Republic of Colony States would be the most sensible choice. RCS possesses the skills and experience we need.

Um, I have a bad feeling that the last three nations to post are controlled by the same person...

The Shiree are overjoyed to see the keen response from so many nations participating in the UNSC.

You may think what you wish, Swordmaster, but you would be incorrect. Fluid Flow is a coworker of mine, and Elska is a friend.

Greetings fellow supporters of the UNSC,

I am Head of the Ukroatia Space Initiative. As you all know, our country has supported the UNSC from proposal to resolution. If elected as a member of the board, I swear I will do all within my power to maintain a steady yet reasonable budget. Explore new modes of fuels, and a cost effective way to make this great vision a reality.

After the UNSC resolution passed, we tried to pass another resolution that would have given the UNSC more powers and a larger budget, but we were shot down.

We will help our coalition of nations achieve dreams that have been dreamt for far too long and help make them a reality.
