Diplomacy and Crownguard.

Early in the morning, Executor Edmund Dantes awaited Tercero Xavier Delyrn. It had been months since they spoke over video-com over the Al Anbar incident. And now with sleep still on his eyes, on a Military Airstrip, he awaited his arrival.

Even now, Al Anbar seemed like a distant memory, a childhood experience that was lost too the mists of time. And now he would meet a friend that he played on the playground with.

"You know, we've seen each other in battle, and helped each other in the same sense. Crownguard has remained loyal, when even now it seems the United Emirates falls apart with so many rogue nations and fairweather friends depart from us like dead leaves from a tree. But Crownguard, though not an Emirate, has been a constant friend, a part of the tree that remains. Though the wind has blown, he has stood by us, and now my first face to face meeting with Xavier. I feel as though I should have done this years ago, Patrick." Edmudn addressed his friendd and nations Chief Diplomat, Patrick Stewart.

Patrick sipped on a cup of Earl Grey tea, the steam blowing into the early morning wind, and he stood with Edmund looking at the same endless blue sky, the new sunrise seeming to symbolize this encounter. it was Patrick who had first met with Xavier, and most likely made this summit possible.

"Yes, Edmund. It was as I told you, the Crownguards are a great people. i was very Impressed by their culture."

They waited for his arrival.

*The wind gathered a bit about the landing strip as the DC-10 overflew the strip, coming back around after sending the proper transponder signals to the ground crew. The four Longsword fighters dipped their wings a bit, streaking away into the distance to maintain CAP patrols over the area in this highly sensitive endeavour.*

"Soon, Tercero...we should be off in about ten minutes. We were just waiting for clearance from the ground and the Red Wings."

"Thank you kindly, Nathan. I fully expect this meeting to prove both fruitful and intriguing. I must admit I was somewhat suprised to recieve a call for a face-to-face meeting. Dare I say it? Im nervous of all things..."

*He chuckled a bit, laying down the platter of sandwiches, turning to the other two members of his diplomatic team, some of the most well known faces in Crownguard. There sat Nathaniel Green, the aide to the Tercero. He was known as a shrewd but honorable politician, a rareity in these darker times. At the other side sat Veronica Winters, the highly respected Chair of Justice and law consultant, called to task to review any legal documents. The last was General Bashkiir, of the Al Anbari Expeditionary Forces themselves and newly distinguished Knight of the Silver Blade, the highest military honor an officer can recieve. *

"Now then, we all are well used to distinguished dignitaries, and have reviewed the notes on their culture. Im sure everything will go quite smoothly....."

Edmund grew more excited as the Crownguard transports arrived. His Trenchcoat flapped in the wind and Patrick gripped his coat even tighter.

The transports landed. And the Airstrip crew went too work bringing the stairs to the Cabin door.

"Well, this is it...lets go make some friends!" Patrick said lighltly slapping the Executor's Shoulder, smiling.

(Isnt closed that I know of...its more of a revival of a possible alliance long forgotten by both sides. However, at this point its a fairly secret meeting, only the known absence of the Tercero and several key members of the government going "somewhere". Feel free to jump in, I always enjoy your posts, heh. Even willing to start a thread with you, if you want; concerning perhaps greater economic or cultural ties and such.)

*The Tercero stretched as he unfastened the belt. Fortunately, the flight wasnt as long as expected, thanks to favorable winds. However, no matter how comfortable the chair is, it managed to be a relief to finally stand once more. He slowly turned to the other three, nodding to them as they formed up, several black BDU-clad bodyguards forming up a small honor guard to their sides. The four marched, The Tercero and Nathaniel in the fore, the General and the Justice in the rear. The group slowly approached the door, swinging up and away as they came out into the brightly shining sun, dignified, yet a radiant smile upojn the Tercero's face.*

"Patrick....Edward...I am most assuredly glad to finally meet you both in person...."

*He said, smiling a geniune smile. Brushing back a lock of brown hair, his intense brown eyes seeming to focus on both at the same time, with the same general regard. The others behind him seemed to be more reserved in demeanor, however, it was evident they had high hopes for this conference, as did the Tercero and the nation.*

The Templar Guards took a look at the Crownguard guards. Being Black BDU'ed as well they looked at them with confusion at first, then with a sense of admiration, after all it took a certain amount of style too wear these uniforms.

Patrick and Edmund walked to the Delegation, all smiles and extended hands.

"Xavier...Xavier Delyrn, it is an honor too finally meet you in person. Long have these months wore upon my mind. Al Anbar is now behind us, both our honors intact. We have met each other in battle, now we meet each other in friendship. May our meetings from now on always be as such." said Edmund.

Patrick simply smiled, and shook Xavier's hand. "Nice too see you again, Tercero."

Patrick and Edmund than introduced themselves too General Bashkiir, Nathaniel Green, and Veronica Winters.

Just to annoy you, friend. :o It was meant as a clever allusion to my august self doing that on Al Anbar. IC he would of course say edMUND. Heh.

Xavier smiled a geniune smile as well, glad to be able to meet the men behind the monitor-boxes. He returned the handshake to both, nodding his head a bit.

He was clad in a black and grey outfit, a well cut military uniform accented with a broad green sash, shoulders adorned with pips as were the sides of the collar. He had take his hat off on the trip, carrying it at his side. The General was dressed similarly, with a thinner silver and blue sash, as befit his rank and his Knighthood. Nathaniel and Veronica wore well cut business suits, attache briefcases in hand; the Royal Dragoons Honor Guard filtered out the stairs to flank the sides, saluting. The Guardsmen (and women) themselves wore the black uniforms proudly, each bearing a longsword at their side, each uniform crisply pressed as one could shave with the polish of their boots and cap visors.. As the Tercero had passed each of them in turn, they had rendered a salute of the crosshilt to the brow, and then down once more, blades naked to the sunny sky.*

"Indeed, it had been far too long since we all played about, squabbling over that dirty sandbox of a nation..and what did it gain? The Al Anbari certainly wont miss either of us, and the feeling is mutual. The past is the past, and we look to a prosperous future of friendship. I am indeed humbly honored, Edmund,' *nod and turn* 'Patrick.'" *nod to him as well*

Edmund looks at Xavier and smiles.

"Well than, we have preparations too begin our summit at a Secluded resort in the Golanus Mountains, it surrounded by several...secret military bases,...but I trust you wont use that information against me!" Edmund joked and laughed slightly. He made a motion to two Armoured Limosines that pulled up.

"If you want too have your team inspect these before we depart, I understand. While Im sure we trust one another, one must always be sure." he said matter-of-factly, having constant security being part of ones life as a National Leader, was an aspect well known too Edmund and Xavier, and the subject was broached very casually.

*The Tercero nods, waving to his men who perform a cursory check of the limos, not terribly worried. After all, Edmund and patrick would be riding in them as well, and hence, they would have to face the same risks. After the teams give the ok, the Tercero steps towards the lead limo, smiling*

"Im sorry Edmund, but such is the world we live in. At any rate, I look forward to this meeting, and I trust arrangements have been made for my small...er....diplomatic party?" *motions to the three advisors and the guards*

"At any rate, I am delighted to be hosted by such fine men as yourselves, and Im certain this will be a very prosperous meeting." *He says, saluting the low flying Longswords, which dip their wings and speed back for home, their mission accomplished for this particular day.*

Patrick laughed. "Oh yes..we made some arrangments....I dont know if you have any particular Vices, Tercero, but I took the liberty of breaking out a case of fine wine. From the southern Tersanctan vineyards, aged thrity five years...I will be...partaking to say the least!" Patrick laughed again.

Edmund laughed as well. "After our intitial discussions, of course Xavier, but I believe Patrick has told me some rather crazy stories on some of the Diplomatic trips he has been on!" he quirked, truly in good sprits.

"Shhhhh!" Patrick sayed jokingly as He and Edmund got into the Limo.

" A fine wine shared among friends is one of the few pure pleasures left in this world...." *Xavier says, smiling as he nods his head to the illustrious pair.* "As for Patrick...well..you didnt have the dubious pleasure of negotiating with Al Anbar personally, including negotiating our pay..." *He shook his head, hating that place with a passion. It was the first place Crownguard EVER was forced to pull out before the job was done.*

"At any rate, let us have at it, while the having is good...." *Xavier says crypticly as they entourage filtered into the second car, he himself sharing the limo with Edmund and Patrick.*

The limos made thier way too the resort, designed for comfort and protection, the place was a four star hotel on the inside, and a High level Security Base on the outside. There were several checkpoints that the Limos had too go through before Ultimately being allowed in, noone, not even the Executor was considered above National Security.

But once past the gigantic metal doors on the outside, which was drilled into a mountainside. And several corridors of military technology and personnel, not unlike the inside of a nuclear Submarine , the Terceros and Executors entourage made their way into a massive greeting hall. Here there was a massive Chandalier, over a Marble floor. With twin staircases going up either way, and off in front, directly there was a massive balcony, that overlooked Snowcapped Granite Mountains, and azure blue skies. Deep beneath them one could make out another Military Base beneath the Clouds.

"As you can see, we are quite protected, and quite high at this point, I had this place designed with protection, as well as comfort in mind. We could survive a full-on nuclear assault here, though that I would not worry about."said Edmund.

"Now than, would you like to begin our discussions? Or would you and your companions prefer too get some rest before we begin?" Edmund asked.

**The Tercero smiled, nodding his head**

"Yes, I do seem to be slightly tired at this point. The flight was quite long, and though the accoutrements and treatement of your people grand, I am, how do I say it, pooped."

*he chuckled softly*

"At any rate....perhaps a light nap of an hour or two shalls teel my nerves to tacle the nuances of hammering out a treaty, eh? I would hate to have a dull mind and dull body as we move into something so important..."

*He slowly sipped the sweet wine, savoring the taste, partaking in the elegant atmosphere*

"Delicious, I must say...."

Edmund and PAtrick also nodded, and sipped the Vintage wine, from the Winter fields of Eastern Tersanctus, they were indeed a delicacy upon the toungue.

Servants came and took care of The Tercero's Luggage and Entourage, and showed him the room where he would sleep.

Three hours later, the dining hall was prepared, An Elaborate feast was prepared, with all the bells and whistles.

Servants again showed the Tercero to the hall along with his heads of state.

Edmund had changed into a quasi-professionl, more casual attire. He stood and smiled at Xavier's arrival.

"Now we can begin the discussions on a clear mind, but not an empty stomach of course!"

'But put rather simply, there is little that need be discussed. I am open to a blanket treaty of alliance between our countries, this includes Military, Economic, as well as Diplomatic, exchanges."

The Tercero, clad in his more relaxing set of gray and black trim suit, accented once more by the green sash, nodded.

"Im sure the lawyers shall wish to peruse it carefully, but I concur fully. There is little to concern ouselves with, im sure they will do a splendid job."

He slowly leaned back into his chair, sipping the wine thoughtfully.

"Though..I believe a good idea would be if we perhaps appointed cultural ambassadors to each of our nations? I am intensely interested, as are my people, about your culture. What is this, how do you call it, Kung-shao? What does it represent? Coming from a nation lacking any belief in the divine, I find it intriguing. Im sure you have your own questions as to my nation as well, which can be discussed over this delightful dinner. The paperwork we can review later, as our lawyers pour over it. The worst part is over."

He saluted with the glass downing it with a satisfied smile, staring to the both of them as the rest of his people diligently at work drafting just such an alliance, even without the mention by the Executor.

A delightful feat awaits us it seems, Edmund, Patrick. I would hate for mere words to spoil good appetites.

He chuckled to himself.

"More wine, I beg of you. It is quite superb."

Edmund laughed, and poured Xavier more wine.

He glanced at Patrick, who knew of Edmund's Bloodline, but also knew the necessity of guarding the secret.

"Kungshaoism, is the Eldest religion in Tersanctus. It is more of a philosophy, really. I would compare it closest to Buddhism, which when closley examined, also isnt a religion at all. But the practice of the philosophy, of a man called Buddha."

"Kungshao, himself, according to our ancient legends, was a Great Dragon God, whom came down too earth, thousands of years ago, and counseled the wisest amongst the Thirteen Ruling Clans in the ways of the Divine workings of the universe, and of Honor, and many, many other things."

"He is called the 'Dragon God of War' by some, but this is a mistranslation of sorts. You see, the original language in Tersanctus was called Forangentan, and Tersanctus herself, was called Forangentu. The real meaning would be God of Defense, if that makes sense. the Ancient Greeks had Athena and Ares. Ares was the God of War, and Athena, was the goddess of wisdom. But she also embraced other traits, war was one...but not in the sense how Ares embraced it, she would condone war, were it for the right reasons. This is a similar philosophy attributed to Kungshao."

He sipped his wine some more.

"As for Cultural Embassies, I am ecstatic at the Idea, Crown guard is listed as ..Crypto-Fascist, I believe. While Im aware of Fascism, what would the Crypto mean? Encoded in some manner?" he said with a chuckle.

"More of a humorous account really as a statement to our detractors. Crypto-Fascist means to them 'Well its fascist, but we cant figure out how..so were confused.' Most of us have been considering changing it to something a bit more....benign. After all, we are really more of a socialist oligarchy. Everyone benefits from the economic power of Crownguard, and civil rights are protected within reason. However, the state is always supreme, and we are careful only the right sort of people recieve government postings. Race, gender, beliefs dont matter, only a commitment to the Four Ideals. Courage, Integrity, Honor, and Knowledge. Not some silly notions of "quotas" and the like, government is a serious business, not to be subjected tot e whim of a tyranny of the majority. But it is a problem, i think we shall change it to something a bit more...inviting."

He sips the refilled wine*

"Well Crownguard has found little use of religions in our nation. We were forced to quell several Violetist riots, making us a bit skeptical about religion. However, we would allow of course your own state-mandated religion within our country. However, we feel life is mant to be lived, and that the ideals serve as a model of morality, not the words of some holy man or a dusty tome. Please understand, we are humanists, we believe in bettering humanity here and now, not in the afterlife. That and the fact that service to humanity comes before all other things."

*He finishes his glass with a satisfied smile*

"I do hope this clears some things up...."

26-03-2004, 11:46
Edmund blinked.

"Please keep in mind, Religion and Government are kept independent of one another in Tersanctus. There is no state-mandated religion, that would be considered treason. And treason is perhaps the only crime in Tersanctus punishable by death. There is no need to allow it into Crownguard. The Templar are of the Temple of Kungshao, technically they exeist independent of the Trisagion Military, In fact they are proably better warriors than the Trisagion Military, as they dedicate thier lives to Kungshao and training. We simply make good use of a good thing. but otherwise they hold no power in Government whatsoever."

Christopher Dantes leaned in close to the Tercero. Years had passed, and now stability was coming back too the Nation, after the ICEP Failure, which led too his Fathers Death.

"There is a matter of a certain degree of Importance that I have been wishing too discuss with you however." Chris said quite hushly.

"You see,...the United Emirates are falling apart. It is sad,...but quite true. Tersanctus,...while sister nation to Drakonia, is still her own people."

"And I must decide, before it is too late, where too lead my people. I have experimented with Economic Allainces...which you yourself have seen the Catostrophic results of, nay...I, nay , we need too Create a new alliance. Nothing large,...none of these Huge ones, that go nowhere, and attract too much attention."

"I was thinking,...the creation of a new region....with close ties to our former alliances of course...no need too burn any bridges. But some simple thing, where we pledge full military, and economic support, your usual schtick."

Chris looked at the Man his father respected so.

"What say you Mr. Delyrn?"
Crownguard
17-05-2004, 00:22
**The Tercero mused on this, thinking it over for a long moment over several sips of a glass of water.**

"I am certainly willing to do so, Mr. Dantes. Tersanctus has shown itself to be the staunchest ally Crownguard has had. However, it is a delicate maneuvering to do this without "burning any bridges as you stated. Several nations may be piqued by our withdrawal from the Corporate Islands. Also, will we extend an invitation to any other nations? I would hope for the right sort, those based on ideals of chivalry, innovation, intelligence, and honor. If you are willing to present such a proposal, Crownguard would sincerely be interested. Then again, if you wish to find a place of refuge and growth, the Corporate Islands are open to your antion as well. I would make certain it would be pushed in. Either way, it is a decision I leave in your capable hands, for I am agreeable to either provision, including, of course, a detailed structure."

**The Tercero Xavier Delryn leaned back once more in his chair, noting silently the resemblances of this man to his late father. Now there was a loss of a gentleman of the highest calibre. Out of personal friendship, the Tercero could direct the course of a nation and indeed did. Whether for good or ill remained to be seen but one thing was known, "Death before Dishonor".

18-05-2004, 08:52
Chris nodded.

"I appreciate the offer. But Tersanctus would have too many political differences. Nay, I see us charting our own course, one not based solely upon Imperialism, and capitalism, but based upon the very qulaities you mentioned."

He looked down for a moment in thought.

"And of course we would allow other nation into it. I would suggest one more worthy nation, to sit alongside us in a Triumvirate. Three Minds to lead three mighty nations into a future of prosperity, and honor."
Crownguard
21-05-2004, 18:59
The Tercero continued to muse. THey indeed had much to offer, and yet, he didnt wish to disassociate himself entirely from profitable ties int he Corporate Islands either.

"I shall give it muych consideration, though I shall need to speak to several business partners Crownguard has ties with, to ascertain their viewstance. However, I feel we will indeed accept this. However, I see a grander plan than just three nations. I see three nations, leading a legion of smaller governments to enlightened rule. I see three nations, commanding armies of loyal and honourable troops, marching the banner of prosperity and justice. I see three nations, standing astride the lifeveins of this world, ensuring that reason, intelligence, honor, and compassion never fade from sight. This all I see, and all I hope."

He sits back, sighing a bit as he sips his water once more.

24-05-2004, 20:35
Chris nodded.

"Yes, Other nations would be welcome too apply,..I certainly meant that. But more than that a strong leadership. To influence the world into a way of life that you describe,...we would be remebered in history as the great ones....the ones who had the balls too make a stand...if youll pardon the color of my speech."

"But please...make your arrangements....I seek to do this thing before my entire Alliance collapses!" he joked.
