Harmony Cup 4 (Attn. WC12 Non-qualifiers)[8/10]

Somebody's gotta do it.

HARMONY CUP 4

This cup is for participants of World Cup 12 qualifying who were unable to make it into the big dance. To qualify to enter the Harmony Cup, you have to answer to the following criteria.

-Participated in World Cup 12
-Got eliminated in qualifying in World Cup 12
-Have posted a few RPs, be it in World Cup 12 or World Cup 11

Participating in the cup has several advantages for the participants, such as gaining RP experience and recognition as being a talented and dedicated RPer. One example is Warnocks Wizards who after hosting a successful Harmony Cup went on to host WC11 and several others who failed to qualify for previous WCs have graduated to that cup. In addition, a bonus will be in place in the KPB Ranking System for results of this event.

Here are the sights for matches, if held in Brazillico:

Name: Libertad International Stadium
Location: Libertad, Brazillico
Capacity: 72,000

http://www.sportsvenue-technology.com/projects/daegu/images/daegu_02.jpg

Constructed 33 years ago for World Cup IV, this stadium in Brazillico’s capital has seen its fair share of competitive football on the international and club circuits. Although it is no longer the state of the art stadium it was when it hosted the finals of the fourth World Cup, it remains an excellent venue for football. This inland city is notorious for its scalding hot summers and the heat is often a factor in most matches held in these parts.

Name: Undelay Industries Stadium
Location: Kalita, Brazillico
Capacity: 88,000

http://www.sportsvenue-technology.com/projects/arsenal/images/Arsenal_03.jpg

Located in Brazillico’s most populous city, this is the first stadium built since the revolution, being completed only four years ago. This stadium's architecture is loosely based on Ashberton Grove and Bedistan's Robert Jones Memorial Stadium. Located in the heart of Brazillico’s commercial centre and across the river from the nation’s top industrial port of Tirona, Smog is often present and can be very hard on players. Oh, did we mention the cup is being held in the midst of Kalita’s rainy season?

Cordova Park
Location: Cordova, Brazillico
Capacity: 52,000

http://www.sportsvenue-technology.com/projects/heinz_field/images/Heinz04.jpg

The legendary Cordova Park just went under a major facelift to restore it to the original splendour which could be seen forty years ago. Cordova is one of Brazillico’s most popular tourist destinations with great weather, world-caliber golf courses and long sandy beaches. Cordova Park is located on the shore of the Pacific Ocean and that cool sea breeze which makes this climate ideal also tends to wreak havoc on the pitch.

I’ll wait to see if anyone joining this wishes to take the reigns of the event before committing to anything like posting the scoring formula, as well as further details.

Anyway, fellow World Cup losers, registration is open so it’s time to sign up and play on!

“We won the SuperCup!” bragged every Ians fan in the Commonwealth at once, puffing out their chests and swinging beer steins about. Was it, however, anything to brag about?

Not really, considering their consistent failure to turn that one lonely victory (eight years ago) into any sort of lasting dynasty.

With their tails wedged as firmly between their legs as is legally allowed, the Iansisle team once styled “the SuperIans” limps into the Harmony Cup.

Rumors indicate Coach Westmore will shake up his usual starting eleven to give the youngsters as much practice as possible and weed out the WCXIII probables.

After all, it’s not like things could get any more humiliating than they are already.

Valeria, wanting to show that a newcomer to the World Cup can still be capable, even though it has dropped off the rankings in WC12, wishes to sign up on the roster for the Harmony Cup. Emperor Alexander arrived in a horse-drawn carriage with his entourage of officials to make sure Valeria has a place in the Harmony Cup.

Alright, I'm going to start TGing the results for Matchday 1 now.

I've run into an unexpected problem and that is that I have no one to generate my results. That means that the result for my match against Eauz will come shortly once someone is willing to generate them. I already got the sheet ready, and it's just a matter of sending the sheet to whoever will do it,. so if you want to, just TG me with your email address.

If not, you'll just have to trust me and scratch your heads when Brazillico 7 - Opponents 0 results come raining down by the bucketful. Seriously though, if no one will generate my results, I will generate my own results fairly and honestly.

Les Bleus set to compete in Harmony Cup

Having been knocked out of WCXII, Les Bleus will compete in what many call the "loser cup" or the Harmony Cup, for those teams who could not qualify for the World Cup. The Harmony Cup starts off with two groups, of which Eauz was placed in the second.

GROUP 2

Eauz (37)
Brazillico (46)
Gaddland (59)
Praying2God (67)
NEWI Cefn Druids (86)

The group is quite closed ranked, making for some good games.

The Schedule for Les Bleus looks like this :

MD1 : Brazillico vs. Eauz
MD2 : Gaddland vs. Eauz
MD3 : Praying2God vs. Eauz
MD4 : NEWI Cefn Druids vs Eauz
MD5 : BY-Week

*BTW Brazillico, personally, I don't care if you do your own scores or not. You can let me do the scores for you, but, I think that if you really have to cheat in the Harmony cup, you got some BIG issues. I will not be complaining if you win like 5 - 0 or something. But I do hope that experienced teams, if they do lose will not be losing like by 4 or 5 goals just because of random numbers. Manchester United loses once in a while, but you don't see them lose like by great margines.

WARRIORS PULL OFF SHOCKER TO BEGIN HARMONY CUP

The Warriors pulled off a shocking upset yesterday at Gaddland to open Harmony Cup play. What was even more shocking, is that the Warriors managed to score twice in the first 12 minutes of the match. Gaddland was able to manage to cut the lead in half in the 38th minute, but it wasn't enough, as the Warriors held on to win 2-1. The Warrior goals were provided by Thomas Larson from Kelly Carter in the 9th minute and Francis of Assisi from midfielder Joseph King in the 12th minute. The Warriors have some time to refocus for their next match, which will be at Eauz after their bye. The quote of the day was provided by goalie Joshua Harris after the game when he was asked if he thought the Warriors were on top of the table (the score of the other match was unavailable when we went to press), and Harris responded, "So what if we are? It doesn't mean anything right now. If you told me we were on top of our group after the Brazillico match, THAT would be something to get excited about."

The Valerian Boyars Set to Compete in Harmony Cup

After a mediocre showing in WC12, Magnus Valerius has been thrown into the 'Loser's Cup', as it is called. Even though Magnus Valerius is ranked low, there are still high hopes among fans and the players that Valeria can win some prestige. Alexei Putin and Talos Kantakouzenos both held a pompous giant flag of The Crown Empire, its white cross on blue and golden double eagle fluttering in the win. The games are about to begin!

----

After the first news report of Valeria entering the games, Emperor Alexander I received the first news of the games in Brazillico. The Tsar of All Valerians, aged and restricted to a wheel chair, shedded tears. Valeria had already lost a game. It was troubling for the emperor, who, without his knowing, was being consumed by a malignant cancer. He wanted to see medals shining off the chests of his team before the darkness hath consumed him.

"I... want to see My Team.... win some sort of metal. Gold, Silver, Bronze. Anything! I want to see them stand in glory, to show that Valeria is a grand place for sports as well... after all the funding I've put into football and baseball. I don't have much time to live."

The emperor spoke quietly to himself. He watched from the window over his son, who was busy wandering around in the garden with his fiancee. Soon, Alexander II will rise to power. Alexander I knew he had to find acceptance before he died! A fire in his heart hoped for at least 3rd place in rankings, but if things don't improve, then his dream will be kaput.

Not good

Les Bleus started off the Harmony Cup on a bad foot, losing the first match and tieing the second match. It has been suggested that Les Bleus are tired from the Eagle Cup which they are playing at the same time, but this team is stronger.

Les Bleus need to come out strong for the next matches for any chance at qualifying.

More to come later...

We can't even lose in style
The match between the Abysmali Abysmals and dancers of Dance 2 Revolution ended in a 0-1 loss. Ha~e Hangila, the rejistanian coach was again in charge of the team after the nervous breakdown on the last matchday of the world cup qualifiers. The weather was against the Abysmals: it was sunny and warm, the state of the pitch was bad for the Abysmals since something like a pitch actually existed and it was not simply a marked place in the swamp. If it was a normal day, the Abysmals were ment to lose highly. But this was not a normal day, and this was not a normal match. for some strange reason, the Abysmals managed not to concede any goal in the first half and also during large parts of the second one. Xiq defeated his goal as well against the dancers, as against the abysmali defenders, who also like to put their name on the scoreboard, even if the name is on the wrong side. In the 64th minute, it was Stoi, who managed to get past Xiq. Coach Hangila shouted insults at him, he should have learnt the difference between a goal and an own goal, but his answer was just 'bad habbits die slow', shruged and continued playing.D2R goalie Handplant was only challenged once, when the Abysmals tried something similar like an attack. After the match, forward Meep confessed, that he 'had the head there and didn't realize the ball was coming'.

Harmony Cup Stolen!

Last year's champions, Commerce Heights, have refused to return the Harmony Cup to tournament officials. It is widely believed that the motive for this stems from the theft of the Harmony Cup from Commerce Heights' National Sports Museum. Commerce Heights officials claimed they moved the trophy from the museum to an undisclosed area and is now being shipped towards Brazillico to be given to the winner of the fourth edition of this tournament.

Officials are extremely doubtful that the Harmony Cup will be returned to Brazillico, so contigency plans have been made. Hareida, Brazillico's largest producer of beer and other malt-based beverages, have stepped up to the plate and will be donating a Golden Keg to the winner of this prestigious event. The Golden Keg will come complete with a Golden Tap and will be filled to the brim with Hareida Classic. Negotations are in process that would make Hareida the main sponsor for the Harmony Cup in years to come, which would see them pony up the "Golden Keg" for the next twenty years.

Drunken referee causes draw
don't drink and drive is said in countries where cars are affordable, but no one until now has said: don't drink and work as referee in an international match. The referee, whose name is fortunately not know, didn't think about that and didn't drink a bit before the match, he was merely totally intoxicated. the not-bad thing about that was, that he wasn't biased for the Abysmals, the bad thing was, that he didn't have a clue what was going on on the pitch. That he even saw one goal for the Abysmals, who played as bad as always was perhaps the best proof of his state. Day managed to get the ball near the goal, but the whole country still wonders how the refereee could decided it as Abysmal goal. When the referee ended the first half, only 36 minutes have passed and the score was 1-1.After the half-time-pause, the referee was passed out and even huge quantities of cold water couldn't wake him up. After a while of confusion, the officials decided to end the match at this point. The referee is expected to wake up with a hangover and without job,

The referee who called the Abysmalistan match and passed out on the field has been identified as Belmorian, Dwayne Belmore. Belmore recieved some bad press at the start of World Cup 12 qualfiying, when a string of bad calls cost Spaam to lose a qualifier 3-1 to The Bureaucratic States of Oglethorpia. D2R Sports

Matt: Hello and welcome to the Cup of Harmony. Today, as you might know was the second day of the cup. In this program, we will show you highlights of Cockbill Street - Dance 2 Revolution. We will not show the Abysmalistan match, it is too bad on our reputation to show Abysmalistan matches.
Jeff: And now to Cockbill Street, with commentary from Peter Garata

Peter: Cockbill Street kick off.
<21'> Defence is keeping tight here, no gaps for CS to exploit at the moment, but CS seem more comfortable on the ball. It's only a matter of time before the defence make a mistake
<34'> Little has come to help Dark defend on the wing. The CS striker runs through the gap...Cross comes in and that’s a goal, in off the post!
<67'>Vivid and Chaos doing some nice passing, mixing up the CS defenders…Back-heel from Vivid, into the path of Maeda!.. What a goal! An excellent 35 yard strike, giving the CS goalkeeper no chance…
<93'>Little takes him out…and it’s an early bath, but not too early, and a penalty. D2R down to 10 men for the dying seconds of the game. CS steps up... SAVE! And that’s the final whistle, it ends here 1-1…

Matt: D2R starting off with an impressive draw there against Cockbill Street…an unexpected result, but away form is better than home form for D2R, which is still true.
Jeff: Unexpected result indeed... I will tell you that the match against Abysmalistan ended in a 1-0 win for D2R... Next on D2R sports, we will catch up with D2R Manager Terry Freeze to see what he thought on the team’s world cup performance, and their performances in the Cup of Harmony. We will also be heading to Rejistania to watch one of the Volleyball tournaments over there.

Location: The stadium in which the match Cockbill Street against Abysmalistan will take place,
Time: some minutes before the match will actually happen,
Weather: sunny.
Ha~e Hangila talks to his team before the match, the match which could bring him nearer to his ultimate aim: to defeat the Rejistanians. He still is angry about becoming sacked 8 years ago and he only wanted the job as coach of this country-ish piece of swamp to be able to work for his ultimate aim. In his mind imges appeared: Laxtu Takil, smiling, speaking in a press conference that it is an honor to take this job, his job, celebrating Orange-Blues who chant a song about him being sacked. 'Hey, coach, are you dreaming?' Stoi interrupted him. 'I was just thinking of something else,' he said then started to give the Abysmals instructions about the match, while speaking, he suddently knew that all was in vain, that the Abysmals do rather the opposite of what he tells... that is the idea! He stopped in the middle of the sentence. 'Skip it! It's no use to tell much 'll just point in the direction you need to play.' The Abysmals sighed as sign of relief these easy instructions were right for them. When the match started, he pointed in Xiq's direction, what did he risk? a few more own-goals. --- The first half ended 2-0 *for* the Abysmals. Even if he tried it in the second half too, the Abysmals couldn't extend the lead, but also didn't concede any goals.

WAIT JUST A MINUTE!!!!!

I'd like to file a formal protest of the supposed results and supposed match-ups for the play-offs. There has never been a formal release of the score from the Brazillico-Praying2God match from match day 4, so the match day 5 scores couldn't possibly be out yet. I haven't even heard what the result of the Brazillico-Praying2God match was! And that's assuming that the Brazillico-Praying2God match has been played out already. Therefore, the supposed results from match day 5 should be removed until after the Brazillico-Praying2God match has been played out, both teams have been notified of the result, and the result has been released to the public.

I also protest the idea that this is a double post.

OOC: Oops.. more badness.

Rejis generated the result last thursday I think and I took my computer to the shop on friday. I got it back today and in a rush for missing three days, put up MD5, having totally forgot that I hadn't forwarded you the result. You can ask Rejis if you want a second source. Sorry about that, just one more thing that I f*cked up during this cup.

On a lighter note, semi-final matches are being TGed right now.

Rejis: To avoid confusion or possible delays, could you be so kind as to directly TG the result to CS to avoid another situation like this from developing.

DRUIDS NOTHING SPECIAL AT CUP OF HARMONY
Ieauan Commer in Brazillico

Two games in 48 hours for the Druids showed promising signs that they could, at last, be ready to face the footballing world and not burst out into riotous laughter. After a rest on the first matchday, the Druids followed it up with two promising performances. However, the first of these ended in disappointment, as they went down 3-0 to the hosts. In a close match, it was Alex Cannon who was the difference between the two sides, scoring two, including a 45 yard lob of Gareth Erg, and taking on four Druid defenders before laying off Trevors for the third. The Druids don't seem to have any players capable of such a performance, perhaps a reason behind why they never seem to do that well.

They did in the next game, a 3-1 defeat of Gaddland. However, it was a team effort that got them through it, with no single outstanding individual in the side. It was purely coincidence that Björn-Trevor Frederiksson managed to score all of the Druids' goals. One was a simple header from a corner that anyone could have scored, one went in of his backside as one of the Gaddland defenders played a horrendous clearance at him, and the other one was a deflection on a Trevor Leyghton effort that would have hit the corner flag otherwise. It was noteable that Erg was missing for the Druids, as his confidence had suffered significantly from being beaten from such a distance as he was in the opening match.

From here, though, the tournament started going downhill. Eauz were next up for the Druids, and again, despite a spirited performance, it was not enough. Erg was back between the sticks for the Druids, as they started with the same line up that started the Brazillico match. After Simon Greaves had managed to get the Druids back into the match with a scrambled equaliser five minutes from the end, the Druids threw it all away, when Erg misjudged a cross, and punched it back into his own goal instead of away from it.

This time, Erg showed strength of character after another embarrasing situation, and managed to turn out against Praying2God. It was another close match, but this time the difference was something special. Midway through the second half, a loose clearance by Trevor Kallins dropped to Thomas Larson hit a 25 yard first time volley that beat Erg all ends up, bounced down off the bar and into the net, giving the Warriors a 1-0 victory over the Anwir Cymru.

So overall, the Druids have shown a lot more promise than in previous tournaments, but still cannot manage what is important - results. Once they learn how to win a little more often, then it seems obvious that they won't lose as much. Until then though, it still looks like bleak times for being a Druid.

Paper Crisis In Cockbill Street!
C-mail Struggles To Find Paper/i]

The national football team of Cockbill Street has not made frontline news in the C-mail lately, owing to a shortage of paper at the C-mail office. This is likely to last for a while, but we will try to come out with new editions as quickly as the paper crisis allow us to.

However, the recent news from our football correspondent in Brazillico is highly enjoyable. It includes a match report from the semi-final against the hosts and the final against Dance 2 Revolution, which follows here:

DANCE! DANCE! DANCE!
[i]The Cup of Harmony is Ours

A fantastic display in the play-off round of the Cup of Harmony has seen Cockbill Street take their first major title in any sport. The Streeters, as you will recall, were favourites to win the international cricket championships in Kaze Progressa, before the tournament was called off due to threats of war between The Belmore Family and Spaam.

Nevertheless, this is football, and what a week it has been for Streeter football. The week kicked off with the semi-final against Brazillico, in which the famed Cannons struggled with the Streeter defenders. Especially Haematite, a defender with the strength of steel that had been brought in for the Cup of Harmony, was in full control on the day.

However, the attack was not nearly as good. Little creative effort was made, and the team struggled in general to get things in front of goal. Although passes usually hit the intended recipient - an achievement, given the quality of the Streeter side - there was little effort in trying to get the ball anywhere near the goalkeeper.

Therefore, they needed a little help. And it came from a very special way. A Brazillican player, evidently impatient by the Streeters playing five-a-side between themselves, tackled Petisha hard and got a yellow card. The ensuing freekick was taken by Tom Lehrer - and it curved around the bar, grazed the top of the Brazillican wall, hit the glove of the keeper and bounced in. Cockbill Street looked to beat a former World Cup champion for a third time in their history, and subsequently defended their way to a win.

The Streeters now faced the mighty force of Dance 2 Revolution. A tough team under any circumstances, the 2 Dancers seemed to have forgotten their brains early on. A tragic mistake from their central defender, Mark Stream, left it wide open for Simon Quier, who capitalised and made it 1-0 early on. 2-0 came from a corner kick where nobody seemed to care about marking Harald Axewielder - something which they came to regret. And 3-0 came from a lovely raid by the same man, Axewielder, down the right side, in which Karl Samba had no chance to stop him. That was before half-time. After half-time, the Streeters pulled back, and Bjorn Axewielder got his chance on left-wing as substitute. He scored a magnificent cracker from 35 metres, leaving the Dance 2 Revolution players without any clue whatsoever. A fantastic display, and when the captain Tungsten-carbide came up to receive and drink from the Golden Keg, you could clearly see tears welling up in his eyes. After this magnificent national career, Tungsten-carbide will now retire, at the ripe old age of 35. He couldn't have chosen a happier moment.
