Pax Roania: From the Marianas to the Marshals in 2 days...

Roania
04-03-2004, 09:26
"And we're here, at the opening of yet another military base in the greater Roanian empire..." the journalist said, wearily, as he looked out at the tropical nightmare. The islands to the south-west of the mainland had just been entirely absorbed into Metropolitan Roania.

The islands which had formerly been known as the Mariana Islands had always been under Roanian dominion, though which of the warring city states controlled them had always been a matter of interpretation. When Roania had been united, they had been granted commonwealth status. During the Stalinist dictatorship which had followed the kingdom, they had been left largely to their own devices. Now, under the semi-democratic installation following the reconstruction, they were going to become as much a part of Roania as Agua.

The weather was still awful. Too wet. And too many little islands. "While some people in Syskeyia and Japann might, perhaps, be worried by this step, the Minister for Colonies and Dominions has said that this is in no way meant to be a hostile move. There has been a plebiscite, and the majority of the population welcomed this move."

He coughed. "Under no circumstances will we be taking advantage of this movement to invade the Marshall Islands, and we shall certainly not be attacking the Indonesian archipegalo, as certain hurtful people have suggested. These are hideous lies, spread by our enemies, the Resi Corporation."

Down below, rank after rank of Legionnare started to march off the transport planes and ships. They faced their commanders, and slapped a hand to over their heart. With one voice, they shouted, "PAX ROANIA!"

The journalist smiled, and the camera blacked out.

<----------->

"Right..." he said, sitting in the officer bar. "Bartender, a de-humidifier." He smiled as the room's ventilation system purged every drop of that accursed humidity from the atmosphere. "God... the perils of empire... and next week I have to go visit our dominion in Jiggolostic," he said to a neighbor, speaking about the Roanian possession off of South America.

"Ah, well, lad. You get used to it eventually."

The invasion, when it did come, was swift. The small defense force of around 50 people, with archaic weapons, woke up to find an army of 1000 men on their doorstep. The total number of casualties was 100, when a transport plane shorted out and crashed into the sea.

And another 20 as the Roanian forces learned that while the guns of the islanders were generally of poor quality, having poison injected into you with a blow-pipe is painful.

Simon Darquis was forced to find a way to explain this in terms that didn't include the words, 'Greater Pacific Co-Prosperity Group'.((OOC: My history lessons are getting the best of me...)) Coughing as he stood up, he reflected that he missed the old days when the worst he could worry about was having his head ripped off by a werewolf. "We have decided to, in the interests of both parties, add the Marshal Islands to the Roanian Empire. This was done in order to put an end to the plotting of terrorists with-in these islands to...", he paused, for barely a fraction of a second, "launch terrorist attacks against us in order to 'liberate' those Polynesians who decided to throw their lot in with us."

He coughed, and added, "I have been informed that they will maintain self-government."

God... why me?

RNN and CNN were distinctly silent in reporting the Roanian press release of the "Resian lies", but were equally distinct in pointing their GlobeSAT directly at the invasion force. The GlobeSAT, which could capture a Roanian picking their nose on a battleship in Hi-Def format, provided the world with an up-to-date look at the "Resian Lies" as they transpired. However, something was wrong.
"There's not enough damn action in this!" hollered Joey Dufferson, head of all things chauvanist in the Corporation, "You there! Edit the feed so it looks like there's a village there, and you, make their ship look like its shelling that village! And make it look real, too! We need this for the ratings!"
The editor sighed, "More or less real than those 'pictures' of Lady Siri I was making for you?"
Dufferson stopped, thought a bit, and responded, "You mean those aren't real? Aw hell... just make it look as real as you can, the eyes of every bored action-loving couch potato in the world are on you! And that includes me!"
"Yes, sir..." the editor grunted.

Within the Roanian War-room, generals and field marshals looked at a huge map of the smaller pacific islands. "We could take Micronesia in a matter of days... but that puts us out of range of our main target. Except for the purposes of consolidation, it serves no useful purpose. We'll deal with the Federated States of Micronesia once we are sure what Syskeyia, Japann and Kaukolastan think of our movements." Minister Michael Derza said, pointing at a set of islands in turn.

"What about the Islandians?" An aide asked, curiously.

"We have no intention of making any dealings with East Islandia, military or otherwise. The Indonesian Archipegalo is of no use to us whatsoever, unless we wished to launch a strike on Australia or Papua. As it stands, I, personally, will not send any more of our men deeper into those accursed tropics."

A general looked up. "What about Iwo Jima? Or the Bonins?"

"We'll have to see what the Japannese think of our current movements. Both them and the Syskeyians are being suspiciously quiet. Maybe we could purchase them in exchange for agreeing to aid them against the Chinese at a later date."

"Sir," a Field Marshal asked, "What about Nauru and Kiribati?"

"No further moves until we get some idea of global opinion. However, begin moving more soldiers into the Marshalls. Just in case."

The officers nodded, and began carrying out the orders.

IC:

"Let's do this." The Firebird Fighter/Bomber wing flew off the aircraft carrier, its engines gunning it to maximum speed. The fleet had been slowly moving closer towards Kiribati, and now they were within its oceanic territories ((Is that the right term?)). The 4th squadron had been assigned to do light recon in the area. "This is Wing Leader Devian, contacting Pilots Henge, Ludwig, Lydia and Carlos."

"Henge here, let's see what we can see."

"Ludwig here, Wing Leader, and ready to begin primary mission objectives"

"Lydia here, Devian. Let's get this over and done with so we can get back to the Marshalls in time for my date."

"Carlos here. And we don't need to hear about your private life, Lydia."

The jets flew faster, and soon Christmas Island was in view. "Switch for investigation run."

The jets flew lower, and over the islands. In-effective AA fire shot up around them. The WWII era weaponry was useless against the Roanian planes. Mission accomplished, the wing turned, and began to fly back, after first dropping to a very low altitude and each dropping several bombs into the water.

A wave splashed up, and over the island, flooding it.

OOC: Japann is under allied occupation, and their military is in tatters.

The R.O.C military, still on high military alert from the supposed intelligience threat recieved a few days ago, decides to double reconassiance flights over the North Pacific.

--------------------------------------

It is another beautiful day in tropical Pacific as Captain Chin and his crew make preparations for the SS Guay-Lo. Unknown to the eyes of the Filipinos children watching them, the Guay-Lo was no ordinary ship. Still, any person with a few years experience in the armed forces would be a bit suspicious about the number of computers Chin was bringing onboard -on the other side of the jetty lay six computer boxes from Acer.

The Captain had told the local authorities he would be going fishing in the North Pacific, the question was : fishing for what?

The message alarm in the communications shack bonged softly twice before Tech-4 Simms hit the "receive" key. Tech-7 Bonmarchant- 'Bonnie' to her friends- looked up from her weekly Fleet reports. "What is it this time, Simms?"

"There's another big movement out there, Chief." Simms said absently. "Satellites have picked up Roanian fleet movements in the western Pacific. HQ wants us to bump up the Recon activity."

Bonnie shook her head. "Send it over to the airfield, then."

Simms keyed in the order and hit transmit button. He turned away from his console and asked, "Chief, why is everyone moving around the Pacific all of a sudden?"

The section chief shook her head. "Damned if I know. All I know is, we got here first."

The Signals Officer at the airfield tabbed up the latest message, then called in the runner for Gamma Squadron. "Get this to Major Suarez soonest." The runner saluted and trotted down the hall to the ready room for Gamma Squadron- the EOE Recon unit sharing Nauru Airfield with the 32nd Bomb Group.

"Major? FLASH incoming."

Major Frank Suarez, CO of Gamma Squadron, grunted in reply and took the hardcopy from the runner. He ignored the runner's salute and called up the relevant satellite imagery on his desk console and plotted flight plans for the next hour. Colonel Isahiru Agati, the Commander of the 32nd, walked over and looked over Suarez' shoulder. "Another potential threat, Frank?"

Suarez snarled a few choice expletives about the idiots at Headquarters who kept triple tasking his under strength unit, then hit execute. He swung his chair around and sighed. "Not exactly, sir. Just another potential problem that the Warlord wants me to keep watch for. There's a Roanian fleet out there, probably looking for trouble from somebody. I have to keep a close eye on several million square kilometers of ocean with four birds. Four!"

Agati shook his head and poured himself some coffee. "Send off a request for more aircraft, then. I'll approve it."

Suarez closed his eyes for a moment. When he re-opened them, he was calmer. "They won't buy that, sir. Last time I requested more birds, Marshall King herself called me up and told me she wasn't going to authorize it."

"So what did you just send to HQ?"

Suarez rose and grabbed a cup for some coffee himself. "It was a request for more recon satellites and real-time data links here. This island isn't really large enough for the troops and equipment we already have here- that's the reason King turned down my request for a few more Subotai R-types, after all. If we can get HQ to put a few more birds in orbit, we can cut down the operations tempo for the existing aircraft enough to keep up with maintenance."

Agati sipped his coffee. "That sounds like a good plan, Frank. Keep me posted." He turned to leave the ready room, then stopped at the doorway. "By the way, Frank. That last series of inbounds from home were loaded heavy. I have triple my normal weapons load out for the 32nd, and Sharie Clayton over at the Missile shack says she got in a double-load of Rapiers."

Suarez sipped his coffee as well and grimaced at the taste. "Yes, sir. I already got that from Sergeant Bonilla at the airfield."

Agati grinned like a skull. "What you might not know is the last ST-22 was loaded with twelve more sensor platforms."

Surprised, the major almost dropped his coffee. He clutched the warm ceramic tightly in both hands and said, "I hadn't heard that, sir. Thanks."

"I thought you'd like to know." The colonel nodded and left the room.

Major Suarez returned to his console, the coffee deposited heedlessly on the table beside him. He called up the operations menu and began plotting a different set of flight plans- taking into account the increased sensor coverage around Nauru from the sensor-laden barrage balloons that would soon rise over the small island.

Acutally, the Syskeyian mainland is just "somewhere in Southeast Asia." I made the terrian and the map up. As for St. Peter Claver Island, it's a fictional island off the coast of Danger Island (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/page=display_region/region=danger_island) just outside Amerigan waters. It was colonized at the outset of the Amerigan Slaver Crisis (before it erupted into a War).

The attack, when it came, was swift and uncompromising. The entire 5th army, which had a strength at arms larger than the country it was invading, was deposited by the second fleet on each of the islands. Within a matter of hours the nation of Kiribati had ceased to exist.

"This is Lord Captain Commander Erickson of the 7th cohort of the 5th army, am glad to announce my victory at no cost to my men and only 20 opposing casualties." This was only one of the countless messages being sent back and forth.

The Community of Micronesian Peoples watched in alarm as yet more of their nations were swallowed up by the inhabitants of Novar Ohan. While not yet willing to contact their Polynesian ancestral enemies, nevertheless their back was to the metaphorical wall. The only remaining Micronesian nations were Tuvalu and Micronesia itself.

The President of the Community wasn't inspired, but he had hopes that the civilised nations of the world wouldn't tolerate any further annexation of his people. And of course, he was almost positive that the conference at Ribenia would convince the Roanians to live and let live.

However, he planned to attempt to free his brothers from slavery. And so, to that end, he began gathering his military.

<=======>

<Excerpt from a speech made by President Pa-ha T-sha of the Micronesian Community>

<=======>

The ambassador to Syskeyia sent the President this message.

[code:1:5051155b67]My government takes it amiss that you have, as of yet, not acknowledged our rulership of the Micronesian peoples. We hope that nothing is wrong, and that you have not been got at by the rebel government under the command of the so-called 'President' of the Community of Micronesian Peoples.[/code:1:5051155b67]

Princess Malissa sighed. "Why are we doing this, Minister Derza?" She asked him, as she stretched her attractrive frame.

He looked amused. "Why, so we are in a position to destroy all our enemies, of course."

"But... you haven't cleared this with the council."

"This is a military matter, that hasn't become a full war. It is a pacification of territories that belong rightly to us, therefore not a council matter. Should a war be declared, then I will consult you, the PM, and the council at large. Until then, trust in my advice, Your Highness."

"Of course, my lord minister."
Anonymous Lepers
07-03-2004, 06:24
Even the relatively primitive bio-zervs that were all the Anonymous Lepers could currently manage to deploy in the upper atmosphere caught indications of the nearby military activity. Every microsecond of observation was separated, enhanced, and exhaustively analyzed.

Bio-zervs, networks of individual subcelluar microscopic bio-organisms, had relatively limited range and capability, but they were virtually undetectable to anyone who didn't have access to Kastrian bioengineering technology.

Half a dozen Lepers from the 6XX C series delivered analytical reports regularly to HIM--Eldrad the Supreme.

It appeared that the entity calling itself "Roania" was making a power grab for a whole slew of comparatively useless minor chunks of rock in the adjacent Pacific area. Several other entities would doubtless bristle and rattle their weapons angrily. Conflict might result.

In which case, the smoking heap of still-radioactive slag that had once been a large, fertile island nation might come to someone's attention. It was unlikely any humans would take the risk of deploying there in any numbers, given the many radioactive "hot spots," the inhospitable terrain, and the total lack of any apparently useful resources on the surface, except under carefully shielded and effectively camoflaged domes.

Nevertheless, it was well to be prepared. The Leper analysts reported that the Roanians and the other nations involved appeared to be humans of normal genetic types. Hypermutating, fast acting genoplagues would probably affect them, but just in case it might be as well to have a number of secondary and tertiary strategies. An array of bacteriological parasites, perhaps, and some nice organic chemical soups to be belched into the atmosphere from the numerous, well-camoflaged, strategically-placed surface vents.

Eldrad the Supreme diverted a full five percent of production capacity to these sensible emergency preparations, and returned to the question of identifying subchromosonal structures that might be spliced into his next prototype to yield a Leper series that could effectively mutate epidermal surface coloration and texture at will. Camoflage was so useful.

In the mean time, thousands of Lepers of the 3XX G series carefully released the next generation of bio-zervs (short lifespan was another downside--a whole lab unit was currently tasked with the longevity problem, but so far they had made only minor progress.) Another array of 3XX G Lepers was prophylactically salting surface vent outflows with high-pressure, high-dispersion aerosol containers of a really interesting new genoplague that caused hyper-accelerated, self-replicating cancerous mutations in a number of unmodified human gene sequences.

Eldrad the Supreme was by no means ready for the world at large to discover the scale upon which the Lepers had been redeveloping their shattered Island--nor yet the purpose--HIS purpose--for which the redevelopment was being undertaken.

"Admiral, we have a FLASH message from Kaligrad."

Admiral Sergei Kazanin appeared to be a particularly badly carved granite statue until he moved. His eyes, thinning hair, and Battle-dress uniform were all grey. He grunted and followed the Chief of the Watch off the Flag Bridge to Flag Plot. Crewmen on other errands rapidly exited the passageway- the Admiral was so massive that no one else could fit down the passageway.

Flag Plot- with its critically important SSIN transceiver- was roomy under most conditions, but not with the Admiral in the compartment. A hand the size of a small saddle engulfed a coffee cup and Kazanin drained it at a gulp- he didn't even like coffee, but he had an image to maintain. He knew very well that he was called "the ogre" when the crew thought he wasn't listening.

"What is message?" he rumbled to the petty officer on watch. With a laudable effort not to be intimidated, Tech-6 Hundle wordlessly called up the FLASH traffic. The ogre leaned over the petty officer's shoulder.

Once all six are in formation, their skin forms into a rock-like shape, to disguise itself from sonar. Never said I was starting anything at all. However, EOE has several island possessions in the area, you specifically stated that your troops were occupying an archipelago near one of them (Nauru), and no country can afford to let strange, potentially hostile battle fleets roam around without preparing for the worst.

Furthermore, Ruhr is at the edge of war with California and Alaska over the Philippines and Argyllia is threatening to invade Midway- and incidentally shadowing one of my Task forces with a submarine. With all of this going on, it would be foolish to tie the hands of the Senior Officer Present Afloat regarding his force protection.

There will soon be EOE naval units all over the south Pacific, mostly to deal with the Argyllian situation, but also to keep an eye on the escalating Roanian situation and the saber-rattling in the PI.

For the record, there are three EOE task forces in the south Pacific, originally for Operation Riposte, but now released for defensive action. One is stationed near Nauru. Another is now just north of Kiribati-about 300 klicks from that Argyllian fleet. The third is steaming northeast from a position between Hawaii and Johnson Atoll.

Johnson Atoll, the Cook Islands, Nauru, Wallis and Futuna, Jarvis Island, and a few others are all forward staging areas for long-range BF-6 and BF-7 bombers and reconnaissance aircraft, as well as nests of Skyripper SAM batteries and Rapier and Wotan SSMs.

Taiwan, would it help if I explain just what you're dealing with?

The Roanian message is first put through an enigma machine, in basic German. Then each letter is translated into its russian equivalent, and run through a Russian enigma machine. Finally, each word is once more translated, this time into High Roanian, and then run through an enigma machine once more.

After that it's encrypted to 360 bits. Then sent through as secure a channel as possible, along with lots of unimportant news to drown it out. It takes the Roanian commsmen, working with computers specifically designed for that task, and knowing every language involved, 20 minutes to decode.

Finally, the Roanian home island is in the North Pacific. It's not a place they let people visit willingly. Or at all.

The first fleet began to move into position around the remaining strongholds of the Micronesians. A transmission was sent from the capital ship to each of the captains:

[code:1:dbc45cb347]Upon the failure of the Ribenian negotiations, your orders are to begin an attack upon the rebellious terrorists of Micronesia. There has been no international outcry, so we presume that this means that Taiwan, Syskeyia and TEO are supportive of our movements.

After the conquest, we are to link up with the second fleet and peacefully annex the Bonin and Volcano Islands and Iwo Jima, as soon as the council gives the word.[/code:1:dbc45cb347]

The Ambassador sent this to each of the candidates.

[code:1:aa019ce860]Gentlemen,

I pray you, what would your stance on the secession of Iwo Jima and the Bonins to the Most Holy Principality?

As well, what would you view as being Japann's continued relations with Roania? Where are the biggest issues involved?[/code:1:aa019ce860]

With the amount of nationalist fervour among the voters, it would be political suicide for any candidate to secede territory, especially to 'western imperialist pigs'.

Two of the candidates including the now President Naoto Kan have made the usual "one hundred and fifty years of oppression by the west" speech at public rallies after the notes were made public.

LDP leader Lee Teng Hui has responded with a firm 'no'.

Premier Chai Jun ran her finger along the surface of the smooth blue phone and sighed. She waited for her intelligence personnel to clear out the room and scan the area for bugs before continuing to dial in the number for Roania's leader, Foreign Minister Qiao by her side.

In another room, Vice Premier Park Hye-min was dialing the number for Evil Overlord, in order to establish clear communications and determine the intentions of their nation.

"Hello? This is Premier Chai Jun, leader of East Islandia. May I speak wiht the leader of the Most Holy Principality of Roania?"

"I assume I'm speaking to his Omniferocity, leader of Evil Overlord Enterprises," Vice Premier Park said. "Perhaps we may have something in common...."

Hours later, swift craft detachments were deployed to the Spratly and Paracel Islands, part of which were occupied by Islandian naval and Marine forces from the war with Mallberta and then, later, with Japann. In addition to being the locations of various drilling companies, the Spratlys and the Paracels were home to around a hundred and fifty fast attack swift craft, a Marine Assault Division operating at 80 percent strength, wiht about 12,000 troops in heavily fortified bunkers, a fighter brigade, and forty various surface combatants.

Various contingents from other nations were also present.

Several Amphibious Assault Groups were also assembled, in case the Spratlys or Paracels were taken by the enemy and needed to be retaken.

"Sir, we have an urgent call for you from the East Islandian government."

The Warlord ran his hands through his short hair and sighed. He keyed up the External Security file on East Islandia and reviewed it, a small frown appearing as he read. A few quick SSIN commands were keyed in, after which he mentally put on his 'Diplomat' hat and opened the circuit.

"This is the Eternal Arch-Villain Psychopompos, Minister for Pre-Subjugation External Affairs. What can His Omniferocity's government do for East Islandia?"

Foriegn Minister Darquis whispered something urgently to him. Cartwright waved him away. "Ah, madame... what a surprise... what can I do for you?" He asked, all traces of his earlier exasperation gone. "My apologies. I thought you were Her Highness, phoning to yell at me for something." His voice was soft and soothing.

A politician's voice, in fact.

"Good morning, Prime Minister Cartwright," Chai said, her voice soft. "Or at least it is a beautiful tropical morning in Islandia, but I will put pleasantries aside for now. I am calling you to discuss the delicate matter of your occupation of various islands in the Pacific, islands that border our own home and which have raised many an eyebrow here.

"I respect your nation's ability to act as it wishes, but between restraining members of my own government from calling for a state of hostilities and making a case for peace, I am quite short-handed. Perhaps we may speak with each other, leader to leader, and use this time to clear up any misunderstandings we may have?"

"Good morning, Eternal Arch-Villain Psychopompos," Vice Premier Park said, not skipping a beat as she read his name fluently and quickly. "I am calling you today on behalf of my country to discuss with you the recent seizures of island territories in the Pacific by Roania, who has been known to us as an imperialist, although we have never been involved with any dealings with them.

"I am sorry for interrupting you, but my nation believes that this is a matter of gravest importance, and Premier Chai has granted me full negotiation powers....."

IC: Cartwright covered the mouth-piece, and moved to the map. Like all Roanian maps, it showed the disputed islands as part of Roanian territory. "My lady, I assure you, Her Highness's government respects your concerns. We are merely pacifying rebellious protectorates, and rendering them part of metropolitan Roania. We wish to work with our fellow great powers, to contain and curtail further aggression from external sources." He looked outside at the desert lands beyond the citywalls. "Regretfully, Premier Jun, the weather on Novar Ohan isn't as nice as it is elsewhere... still, might I propose a meeting in the Stronghold of Roan? Of all the... interested parties."

Next to him, various civil servants looked over reports from the conference in Ribenia. None of them had any idea that the winds of change were blowing Micronesia's way...

The Warlord chuckled wearily into the phone. "Since the Dominion recently completed a similar land grab around the South Pacific, it would be extremely hypocritical of His Omniferocity's government to denounce Roania's actions."

He checked the latest ES reports on the ongoing Roanian situation before continuing. "The Dominion's public position on this matter is utter neutrality until and unless EOE trade is disrupted or EOE holdings- such as Nauru- are threatened. That being said, what does your government propose?"

in other words, more west than Hawaii, south of Japan, east of the Okinawas, north a little from Oceania. We dont control Indonesia or Malaysia.

Also, who realy controls Roania? Cartwright or the Queen he refers to?

"I believe it is best for us to meet in a neutral nation," Premier Chai replied. "THe fact of the matter is that our Protective Service is edgy about visits to unknown nations, and we would rather hold a meeting in a neutral country. Perhaps you would consider Agrigento?"

*****
"Perhaps," Hyemin conceded reluctantly. She sighed. "The thing was, our government was planning on supporting a referendum to Pacific nations and nations with interests in teh Pacifc concerning the sovereignty of the various islands in the Pacific. Harold snorted derisively. "Neutral indeed." He looked over at the map, and eyed Agrigento curiously. "Very well. The Dominion is located on the continent of Forlorn Hope- a large landmass the size of Antarctica in the Pacific. The northern end of the continent is roughly at the equator. The eastern side of Forlorn Hope is roughly 2000 kilometers from the coast of South America, and the western side is roughly 2000 kilometers from Australia. In order for the continent to fit, I sort of had to expand the globe by about 6000 kilometers in diameter.

Evil Overlord Enterprises recently completed Operation Riposte- the peaceful take-over of several unclaimed islands across the south Pacific. Starting with Isla de la Pascua (Easter Island), Sala y Gomez (a small rocky island near Easter Island), the Juan Fernandez Islands (in the far southeastern Pacific), Jarvis Island, Johnson Atoll, Wallis and Futuna, New Caledonia, Nauru, and several others. EOE also has a small station on Midway, with the permission of Western Asia- who has extensively militarized the island.

All of these islands have been heavily fortified with SAM/SSM batteries, an airbase (several of them large enough for strategic bombers), and the seas nearby are heavily mined. Troop strength varies from several hundred on smaller islands to an entire Corps on New Caledonia. Extensive support systems have been placed on the islands (especially subterranean desalination plants), and nuclear power plants are also in place. Extensive aquaculture in the surrounding waters support the garrisons.

Large naval units are regularly assigned to patrol the waters near these islands (including a 3-carrier battlegroup that routinely patrols the waters near New Caledonia), which is how the Dominion got involved in this RP to begin with. Roania's move into the Marshalls puts him rather close to the EOE base at Nauru.

what i dont get is why everyone is moving into the Pacific... it's always been pretty, and people like the Islandians have known that all along. And what i also dont get is how Roania got the weird idea taht I said he should invade Indonesia.

The fact of the matter is, Chai Jun is calling the conference to try to get Roania to back off and try to call off the councilors in the Islandian Politburo, who are snapping for blood.

*****
"We would prefer to discuss the rationale behind the invasions," Chai replied. "And bring to light the arguments of the aggrieved parties...that is, if they're alive and not crushed into the ground.

"Likewise, although i do not speak for Agrigento, I feel that they may have something to say about the current going-ons in the Pacific. Whatever the case, I wish to emphasize that the Conference is an attempt to clear up all possible misunderstandings and an attempt to restore sovereignty where it has been violated."

******
"Well," Premier Park concluded glumly. "Nonetheless, it is good to know that you have not violated the territory of any claimed nations, although the increased armament coupled with aggressive overtures in the Pacific has set my nation to worrying. Perhaps we could sign a nonagression treaty? After all, we have been trading partners and on relatively good terms in the past, and we have never violated each other's basic rights or gotten in each other's way..."

OOC: I'm on a tight schedule, but I want to point out one tiny little detail...

as far as the Roanians are concerned, this isn't an invasion. This is forcing rebels back into the Empire. Calling it an aggression isn't going to do anything.

And the aggrieved parties are all either hiding in Micronesia itself, or back in Roania. Currently a peace conference is occuring in Ribenia.
