Alright, It's been a while since I have been active on this site, but I decided to get back to it, and I'm going to post my entire forces to get some feedback, be honest, tell me if you think it's excessive, not enough, etc. and have reasons for your point of view, thank you.

What makes you say that, I have a military percent of 2.4, what's the deal with that, now the only thing I can think of is the airplanes might be ecssecive, but I know the numbers look big but so does a population of 2 billion. (almost, holding my breath)

And, alot of my forces are defence incase some terrorist decides he wants to attack me, so it's not like I'm engaging millions of people, across seas.

Yes - but for every fighting man and woman - you need at minimum 3 logisitcal men and women.

For every 5 tanks you need a tanker truck and a supply truck - and a team of mechanics.

I'm by no means an experts - but I've read all I can from The Evil Overlord, who is.

Really its up to you, and with a population your size there is no one here that could beat you in a defensive war anyway - so its hardly a matter worth arguing - just my opinion.

I second Wolfish's comments. Please, please, read up on logistics. I have quite a few in my military as well, but most of them are support. And without support, soldiers and their equipment are next to useless.

Ya, you do have a point there, but seems how I just started playing NS again I had completely started over with my forces. So I still have some building to do.

It's worth considering China- 1.8million men in the army, I believe, with the population of a ..Mayish nation? And that's the largest military on earth. Of course they haven't quite so much need to maintain a massive military, but when they did, it was about three million strong.. not ten or twenty.

I presonaly think that is a way too big standerd army.
now if you were to draft people then yes but other-wise no.
world war 1 did'ent even need that meny people.

One percent of my population (actually less, because last time I calculated I was 1.7 billion) is in the military.

1/4 of those are frontline troops.

Another 1/4 of 1 per cent of my population makes up my reserve force - weekend or parttime mililtary.

Any one that can beat this force composition is not someone I would lightly face.

The lower force numbers (well below what my economy could support if needed) allows for better training, better equipment and a stronger overall deployable force.

I'm pretty sure you could have alot more aircraft. Even the USAF operates more then 200 F-16s.

I'd go with something closer to(all numbers are approximates):

2 000 F-16s with a 6:1 ratio between single seaters and conversion trainers.
1 000 F-15s with a 6:1 ratio between single seaters and conversion trainers.
50 SR-71s, they're hyper expensive to operate and can be supplemented with other equipment, like satelite photos or info from other recon planes.
200-500 A-10s with a 6:1 ratio between single seaters and conversion trainers. There is a trainer model of the A-10.
500-750 F/A-18E/F with a 6:1 ratio between single seaters and conversion trainers. Or I'd go with the much more useful F-15E and have every airframe serve for conversion training and combat.

Lastly I'd split your naval air arm from your air force, it's much easier to organize that way. Also you need ASW aircraft, AWACS, ElInt/SigInt, transport, basic and advanced training, anti-shipping, tankers(if you wish to deploy outside of your nation and all the other less glamourous roles filled.
