Xanthal slates Mirfak system for independence.
The Mirfak system's one inhabitable planet, Mirfak III, served for over five hundred years as an exile planet. After that, it was converted to an outworld. Today's Mirfak III has become unmanagable for the Xanthalian government. Faced with two options; to either send in all Ministries in a joint effort to convert Mirfak III into a respectable Xanthalian planet (and pay the estimated price tag of $66 trillion), or to grant the crime- and poverty-beleagured planet independence; the Xanthalian government has chosen the latter option. It has slated December 31 of the year 3445 (just under two years from now) as the date for a complete withdrawal of the planetary government and all other Xanthalian officials. The move is not expected to have a major impact on the planet, since it is operating in anarchy anyway.
For reasons unexplained, the KAR has been tasked with preparing to launch an expedition to the Mirfak System upon the System being made independent.
The Xanthalian government wishes to caution the Kechan task force in advance that Mirfak is a system best left alone. The people are not governable, nor will they be in the forseeable future. Many are also whimsical and violent. If a force is sent, extreme caution and minimal contact with the natives is recommended.
