Visa Requirements

Roycelandia
28-02-2004, 10:46
There's no doubting that a lot of Travel goes on in NationStates- people fleeing opressive Regimes, moving elsewhere, going on Holiday, simply desiring a change of scenery... but nowhere is there a list of Visa Requirements. Until Now!

To start the ball rolling, here are Roycelandia's Visa Requirements:

TOURISTS

Tourists from all Non-Religious Nations (ie Nations not run by their Church, or substantially Fundamentalist or Fanatical in political, social, or religious outlook) may remain in Roycelandia, Roycelandian East Africa, and Coral Palm Island for up to 90 days without a visa, simply by presenting their Passport to the Customs & Immigration Official at their Port of Arrival. Those wishing to remain longer (Up to 2 years) can apply for a Long Term Tourist Visa either at the Airport or their Nearest Roycelandian Embassy.
This is available Free Of Charge to Citizens of The African Commonwealth, Das Uber Deutschland, Isochronous, Austar Union, Old Brittania, United Elias, and any other Nation Allied to Roycelandia.

Citizens of Lusaka, Gabon, Free Congo, and all other African Nations can get a 1 Year Tourist Visa for $15 from either their nearest Roycelandian Embassy. Applications require a passport-sized photo, the applicant's passport, and the Application Fee. Visa processing takes about 5-7 Working Days.

Citizens of All Other Nations can get a 1 Year Tourist Visa for $50 from their Nearest Roycelandian Embassy or Consulate. Applications require a passport-sized photo, the applicant's passport, and the Application Fee. Visa processing takes about 5-7 Working Days.

Citizens of Communist or Fundamentalist/Fanatical Religious Nations require a Special Tourist Visa, available from the Roycelandian Department of Immigration and Foreign Affairs in Port Royal. The application fee is $150, takes 15-21 working days, and requires the Applicant's passport, two passport sized photos, the Application Fee, and clearance from the Imperial Security Bureau (included in Visa fee).

BUSINESS VISAS

These are subject to the same requirements as Tourist Visas- see above.

PERMANENT RESIDENCY

Citizens of any Nation eligible for a Tourist Visa may apply for Permanent Residency BEFORE they arrive in Roycelandia, REA, or Coral Palm Island. Applications usually take 2 months to process, and require two passport sized photos, proof of either Family or an Employment Offer in Roycelandia or her Colonies, a Health & Medical Check-Up, as well as "reasonable" fluency in both written and spoken English. The Application Fee is $500, non-refundable if the application is refused.

Citizens of DUD, The African Commonwealth, Isochronous, Austar Union, United Elias, and Old Brittania are exempted from the Family/Employment requirements for Permanent Residency.

Citizens of Rhodesia & Nyasaland and EvaTech may enter Roycelandia and her Colonies without a Visa and remain there for as long as they wish. They will immediately acquire the status of "Permanent Resident" as soon as they cross the border, and are granted the same rights and privileges as Roycelandian or Colonial citizens, with the exception of the Right to Vote in Imperial or Colonial elections.

Permanent Residency gives the Citizen of a Foreign Nation the Right to Live, Work, Receive Social Security Benefits, Attend University, and generally do everything a Citizen normally could, except Vote in Imperial or Colonial Elections.

Permament Residence Visas are valid for the lifetime of the holder, unless they spend more than 5 consecutive years overseas (ie outside Roycelandia or her Colonies), in which case it will be revoked.

CITIZENSHIP

Any person born in Roycelandia, Roycelandian East Africa, Coral Palm Island, or Any Territory Under Roycelandian Control or Occupation automatically acquires Roycelandian Citizenship.

Citizens of EvaTech and Rhodesia & Nyasaland may apply for Roycelandian Citizenship after spending two years in Roycelandia, REA, Coral Palm Island, or any other Roycelandian Territory. This is normally granted automatically, unless the Applicant has been convicted of a crime AND sentenced to more than 1 year's imprisonment for the same crime.
In this case, a Grant of Citizenship is at the discretion of the Minister for Immigration and Foreign Affairs. It is worth noting that no EvaTech or Rhodesia & Nyasalandian Citizen has ever been refused Citizenship.

Any Permanent Resident of Roycelandia, REA, or Coral Palm Island may apply for Citizenship after Three Years spent in Roycelandia, REA, or Coral Palm Island. Applications take three months and are subject to stringent Character, Background, and Security Checks. Refusal of a Citizenship Application does not revoke Permanent Residency Status.

Citizens of DUD, The African Commonwealth, Isochronous, Austar Union, United Elias, and Old Brittania are subject to a much more cursory Character and Security Check.

If a Citizenship Applicant has been convicted of a crime AND sentenced to more than 1 year's imprisonment for the same crime, then they are ineligible for Citizenship UNLESS the Minister for Immigration and Foreign Affairs grants an exemption (which does happen).

Roycelandia allows Multiple Citizenships- you be a Citizen of Roycelandia and as many other countries as you wish. Bear in mind that, whilst in Roycelandia, your Roycelandian Citizenship takes priority, whilst the Citizenship of whichever countries you also hold Citizenship for take precedence whilst you are in that particular country.

****************************************************

I hope that's useful to everyone... Post your own Visa/Citizenship requirements here, and watch the RP oppurtunites grow...

Roania
01-03-2004, 10:10
Visas:

There is only one kind of visa in Roania. It is good for 7 months. After that, you are thrown from the country, and you need to wait 2 months to get it renewed. You can only renew it twice.

Remaining in Roania longer requires citizenship.

Citizenship

First, if you come from a nation not allied to Roania, you must foreswear any loyalty you may have to it. Then you must fill out an aptitude testing form. Finally, you must take the binding oath of loyalty, which means you can never act as a traitor to the crown.

Then you are given a visa. You need to go to all the departments, and get yourself on all their forms, and go to the noble in the city you'd be living in and get those forms, and fill them all out within 7 months. Once that is done, your name is put on the draft list, and you go do your 3 years of military service.

Congratulations, you're a Roanian second-class citizen. On the positive side, your children who are under 18 when they enter Roania get all the benefits of Roanian full-citizenship, and any children you have in Roania are naturalised.

Catpeople; Mormons; Jehova's Witnesses; Fanatic Islamists; Protestants; Anglicans; Baptists, etc. will be shot on entry.

Feline

Tourists

For a tourist to travel to the Democratic Arcologies of Feline, he must have a passport from a nation, not be a citizen of a nation with a travel ban imposed, and file for a temporary personal identification number immediately upon reaching the country.

Temporary personal identification numbers will only be issued after an exhaustive background check.

Temporary personal identification numbers last three standard months or until the holder closes the account. They may be refiled for as many times as needed.

Business

The requirements for business travelers are the same, but they must declare the company they work for upon entry.

Permanant Rescidency

For a person to take up permanant rescidency in the Democratic Arcologies of Feline, they must live in a center for one week while a full vetting and background check are conducted by Ministry officials. After that period, they may enter the country, or file for citizenship.

Non-citizens on permanant residence will have a personal identifation number with the prefix "2-" then the number.

Citizenship

In fact, even beings born in the Democratic Arcologies of Feline, once they pass the Test of Legal Majority, are not considered citizens until they go through the process. It is very simple. The first step is to go to a Ministry of Immigration center. Next, you must fill out a form with personal information. Then, you swear an oath of loyalty to the government of the Democratic Arcologies of Feline by whatever you hold sacred (If not something religious, then your life or something similar) After that you will be assigned a permanant personal identification number. If you were a permanant resident before this, the prefix will be dropped and you will be allowed to keep the rest if you want, or get a completely new one.
Pantocratoria
14-03-2004, 17:15
Note: all immigration is subject to the conditions of the Act of Religious Sovereignity, the Act of Cultural Preservation, the Act of Industrial and Economic Border Protection, the Act of Moral Decency, and the Act of Imperial Security. Combined, these acts of the Imperial Parliament forbid entry to anybody who may compromise the existing religious/cultural identity of Pantocratoria, who may bring dangerous goods into the Empire, whose entry may pose a threat to Pantocratorian businesses or persons, and other undesirables.

TOURIST VISA
Tourist visas are available free of charge from every Pantocratorian embassy. They must be obtained prior to departure, and take an average of 7 to 21 days to be processed. No explanation will be given if an application for a tourist visa has been rejected for whatever reason. Tourist visas permit holders to stay in the Empire for three months, after which time they are required to apply for a reissuing of their visa, or for permanent residency. Tourist visas can be reissued four times - it is therefore possible to remain in Pantocratoria for a full year, so long as one renews one's tourist visa every quarter.

STUDENT VISA
Student visas are obtained by the Pantocratorian academic institution on behalf of a foreign student whose application to study they have accepted. Pantocratorian institutions of higher education are allowed to apply for a certain number of student visas each semester, the number being set by the Ministry of Immigration on an institution by institution basis. This quota is usually set at no higher than 5% of the total student body. Student visas take on average between 14 and 28 days to process, and the applying institution is charged 132 ducats (a fee they usually pass on to the student for whom they were applying). An academic institution may dispose of or revoke a student visa it applied for at any time. Student visas allow students to remain in Pantocratoria for the entire duration of their study, so long as they remain as an active student at the applying academic institution. The active status of students is confirmed every semester. If students change institutions, they must obtain a new student visa from the new institution. At the end of their enrolment at the institution, student visas are revoked, and if the holder wishes to remain in Pantocratoria, he or she must apply for permanent residency.

WORK VISA
Work visas are obtained by Pantocratorian employers for foreign employees they would like to employ. The employer is charged 264 ducats when applying for an employee's work visa. Work visa applications take between 7 and 28 days to process on average. Once an employer obtains a work visa for an employee, the employer may revoke it at any time. The work visa is revoked upon termination of employment, and is valid for a maximum period of one year. Once a work visa has expired or been revoked, if the holder wishes to remain in Pantocratoria, he or she must apply for permanent residency.

PERMANENT RESIDENCY
A person may apply for permanent residency at any Pantocratorian embassy, or at a Ministry of Immigration office in Pantocratoria itself. Applications for permanent residency cost 4356 ducats, and take up to one month to process. If the applicant is already in Pantocratoria, they are issued a temporary visa allowing them to remain until their application has been processed. If an application for permanent residency hasn't been accepted after one month, the applicant may assume their application was unsuccessful (and any temporary visas will be revoked). To obtain permanent residency, a person must:
-be Roman Catholic, AND
-have a fixed address in Pantocratoria, AND
-have an existing, sufficient and sustainable source of legitimate income OR the potential to start earning such an income within the first month of obtaining permanent residency, AND
-pass a French oral exam, AND
-have gainful employment in Pantocratoria under a valid work visa, OR
-have just completed a course at a Pantocratorian institution of education for which they had a valid student visa AND be deemed to have a positive contribution to make to Pantocratoria (eg, have the potential to be gainfully employed), OR
-be in Pantocratoria under a valid tourist visa AND be deemed to have a positive contribution to make to Pantocratoria

Permanent residency and every visa will be revoked immediately if the resident/holder of the visa is convicted for any crime. They will be deported immediately after serving any applicable sentence.

IMPERIAL CITIZENSHIP
A person with permanent residency may apply for Imperial citizenship after being a Pantocratorian permanent resident for twenty years so long as the following criteria are all met:
-The person has a fixed address in Pantocratoria.
-The person has means of financial support.
-The person's parish verifies that the person attends Mass at least once per year (since the Church doesn't do a roll-call, the person may need to make themselves known to their priest so that the priest is aware of their attendance).
-The person swears allegiance to the Emperor(s) (and, if a resident of New Constantinople, the Despot of New Constantinople), declaring all other allegiances to foreign princes, potentates, states and ideologies to be secondary. This usually means the person must abandon other citizenships.

A non-resident may apply for Imperial citizenship if all of the following criteria are met:
-One of the person's parents were Imperial citizens OR the person is able to trace ancestry and prove that they are descended from a Knight of the Order of the Pantocrator OR from a citizen of the Roman Empire prior to the fall of Constantinople in 1453 (this is extremely difficult to do) AND the person successfully applies for permanent residency OR from a subject to the French throne prior to 1791 or between 2 May 1814 and 20 March 1815 or 8 July 1815 and 2 August 1830 AND the person successfully applies for permanent residency. Note that lineage must be traced, it is not enough to simply say "I am French, therefore one of my ancestors met those criteria", for example.
-The person is Roman Catholic.
-The person swears allegiance to the Emperor(s) (and, if a resident of New Constantinople, the Despot of New Constantinople), declaring all other allegiances to foreign princes, potentates, states and ideologies to be secondary. This usually means the person must abandon other citizenships.

Any child baptised Roman Catholic in Pantocratoria with at least one Imperial citizen for a parent is automatically granted Imperial citizenship. Any child baptised Roman Catholic in Pantocratoria without any Imperial citizens for parents is granted permanent residency.

SHORT-TERM VISITS

Those who travel to SAVX with tourist and/or business purposes for under two months are required to have at least two forms of identification, one of which must be legal proof of citizenship in their parent nation. Security personnel are allowed to perform full-body searches at their discretion, but must have reasonable proof beforehand, and send a copy of their writeup to their respective administrative body/ies.

Those found with terrorist intentions are shot on the spot, and all non-governmental travel from the country that let them through is barred for two years. Anyone who breaks this access restriction is apprehended and held for as long as we feel necessary to run checks before being released, or, if found to have terrorist intentions, are subject to torturous interrogations and execution.

LONG-TERM VISITS

Those who travel to SAVX with any purposes for over two months are required to submit at least three forms of identification in order to obtain a visa, two of which must prove citizenship in their parent nation. Security personnel are allowed to perform full-body searches at their discretion, but must have reasonable proof beforehand, and send a copy of their writeup to their respective administrative body/ies. Visitors are subjected to background checks and can be inconspicuously monitored by government officials until they have been deemed safe. Those found with terrorist intetions are subject to torturous interrogations and execution.

PERMANENT RESIDENCY

People opting for permanent residency are allowed to live on temporary immigration visas for six months, but then official citizenship is required.

CITIZENSHIP

Citizenship is automatically granted to those born within the SAVX Federation, Euroslavia, Nanakaland, Exonerate, or Exetonia. Those from other allied nations are required to present at least three forms of identification, two of which must prove citizenship in their parent nation, and are subject to background checks and can be inconspicuously monitored by government officials. Once these prodecures are completed and the person is accepted, that person must take a citizenship test to test basic knowledge of SAVX law within six months of arrival.

Those from other nations are required to present at least four forms of identification, two of which must prove citizenship in their parent nation, and are subject to background checks and can be inconspicuously monitored by government officials. Once these prodecures are completed and the person is accepted, that person must take a citizenship test to test basic knowledge of SAVX law within six months of arrival. If any person has previously been accused of (a) crime/s that would result in life imprisonment or death by SAVX law, that person has one week to return to their nation or they will be prosecuted by our standards.

Multiple citizenship is allowed for except with nations that are considered hostile. However, as long as someone holds SAVX citizenship, no matter where they are, they will be punished by our standards for crimes committed. Should nations where these SAVX criminals are held not be willing to turn them over to us, we will send in assassins to enact the punishment. If the criminal is held in a protected area, that area will be firebombed until nothing stands. The government of SAVX takes its laws very seriously, and will not allow other nations to toil in its personal matters.
