The LRRN is developing several new ships to meet the needs of our navy, as well as modifying existing designs to bring them more up-to-date.

The first new ship to be built will be the Luis Borges class multirole frigate. The 20 ships to be built will be used primarily for shore patrol, but will also be used to accompany overseas task groups. The frigates will be able to accomodate two Ka-27 helicopters, and will contain the latest in LRR point-defense, AsSW, and ASW technology. As well as this, the Lafayette is highly economical and can reach a sustained speed of over 32 knots.

The Gdansk class destroyer will replace the Udaloys in LRR service. The 10 units to be built will have excellent ASW/AsSW, and AAW capability. The top speed of the Gdansk class will be at least 30 knots, and it will have very long range.

LRR is constructing 15 U-212 attack submarines to supplement the old Kilos in service with the LRRN. The U-212 will use the latest in LRR submarine technology, and will be one of the most innovative designs out there.
