After a long two term position as President of the UCSNE, Corinth Dleroes decided not to run for a 3rd and Final term. She has endorsed Alex Kessler as a successor, another member of the Centrist Party.
The Canidates
Hans Gruther
Party-National
Background-
Marine, served in Markov war in Gunship squadron. The 52 year old man has spent 12 years in the Senate, with an active right wing slant. Gruther plans to end the secularism in the UCSNE, as well as boost funds for Tactical High-Yield Weapons and delivery systems, as well as tax cuts.
Currently 2nd to Kessler.
Alex Kessler
Party-Centrist
Background-
Former director of the New Empire Energy Department, Department of Technology, and Department of Commerce, Kessler is the cousin of Marine General Deunan Kessler, and related to the long line of Kessler soldiers. He plans to continue with the legacy of the Centrist Party, and boost support for integrating New Empire with it's technology, as well as boosting trade of commercial products. Kessler also plans to begin several new programs to complete the Alternative Energy program, freeing up fossil fuels for the already booming Petrol export industries.
Currently Leading.
Niko Alorn
Party-Equality Party
Background-Former Governor and Senator, Alorn plans to clean up the reputation of the Socialist Left after the recent MFFW incidents. Alorn plans on massive boosts in public healthcare and Welfare, along with serious cuts to corporations. Alorn also plans to slash military spending, and focus on domestic issues rather than international ones.
Currently and underdog in the race.

The international endorsements will help determine the outcome of this race, and could possibly create a turning point in UCSNE history should Alorn gain office.
OOC-This is part of a long string of RPs I've been setting up... Although this won't matter until the inauguration ceremony.

OOC: Well, seeing as how we Teaklanders don't feel that the world needs any more military giants, and how we like our science, technology and the arts, this seems like the most logical choice, from our perspective.

The Cabinet of the Republic has voted 7-0 to support Alex Kessler.

Minister Svenson, head of Defence and Foreign Affairs, released a statement "in support of the moderate" in the New Empire elections.

Privately, the Social Democratic Party has also offered a 2002 small aeroplane to Kessler's campaign for free. The Tailteann Aerospace "Safehaven" seats thirty, has spent only 180 hours in the air and is ready for immediate use should the offer be accepted.

With the voting counted, it seems Alex Kessler has won the election with his popularity at home and abroad. Kessler will be sworn in within weeks (In the UCSNE, if you aren't running again, you spend the election months 'packing up'.). Soon after, Kessler will be holding a celebration in his home city of Point Dasch, where foreign diplomats will be invited to attend along with other politicians, including President Dleroes. (It is traditional in UCSNE elections to keep inaugurations almost strictly domestic political, and have another celebration and event afterwards where everyone from extended family and foreign politicians will attend. This dates back a long, long time.)
