The Integrated Companies of The Vortex Corporation, when the Enduring Empire of Tarakalar had ended it's nearly thousand year long period of isolation, the Vortex Corporation had just started an isolationist policy of it's own.
To the People of the Enduring Empire, nothing simply happened without a reason and the ending of their own isolasionist policy and the beginning of the Corporation's was taken as an sign, one that they would keep an curious eye on.
Now the Vortex Corporation had recently announced it's return, and though the Enduring Empire had made no official comments on it, behind the scene they had begun an more active examination of the Vortex Corporation, and eventually they contacted them.
Now after several months, a group of of Tarakalarians had boarded a private plane to head towards the lands of the Integrated Companies of The Vortex Corporation.
The Enduring Empire was about to offer a bussiness deal to the Vortex Corporation. A bussiness deal that if accepted, would change the very nature and future of the Enduring Empire and her People.
As the plane landed, two hoverdynes slowly started heading for the landing strip where it touched down. It morning air was cold, with a bright sky allowing for quite a tremendous view. The airport of Vishna, on the southern edge of the Utharian peninsula, was built directly next to the ocean and now, a beautiful sunrise could be seen. In this almost idyllic setting, the gliding vehicles came to a slow stop, and three individuals came out of each of them.
From the first came Sanir Nabaal, a Daiamid Council member that had an excellent history in handling foreign relations. Behind him came two assistants, political students acting as his personal aids. The three other persons from the second vehicle were guards assigned to guard the safety of Sanir and his guests.
Silently, the men stood and awaited the airplane door to open...

As the plane had finished it's landing procedures and had come to a complete stop, it opened it's door as a staircase was rolled on to allow the people inside to exit.
Even with the glare of the sun reflecting of the plane's hull, the cold and clear air of the morning allowed a good view of the people who exited the plane.
The first to leave the plane was Marcus Deleroen, envoy and diplomatic representative of the Imperial family. He was a human man in his late forties to early fifties, his black hair graying at the edges yet still having an youthful expression. Following closely behind him, and looking far less at ease in the cold air, was Herbrrun Adelaar a man in his middle twenties and CEO of Kandan Tem industries as well as head and member of the Paxelean corporate alliance, the largest industrial group within the Enduring Empire.
Following these two men came three Jaiden, members of the Imperial Guards, in their trademark re-enforced black with crimson trench coats. Though the Jaiden's clothes were clearly meant to be able to withstand at the least two pointblank shotgun blasts, it was assumable that both Deleroen and Adelaar's clothing’s both had been re-enforced to withstand at the least simple pistol bullets. It was considered fashionable in Tarakalar after all to ensure your own security.
Approaching the six men, Deleroen seemed quite at ease within the cold weather despite his serving in the warmest Land of the Empire, and he smiled broadly as he approached Sanir Nabaal, holding his hand out to the council member.
"Sanir Nabaal? I Do hope I have the right one, sadly they could not provide me with a photograph in time as the one in my file had fallen out. My fault I am ashamed to say." Easily admitting a potential faux-pas the man smiled without worry. A good atmosphere between people always made things go easier.
"I am Marcus Deleroen, envoy and servant to the Imperial Family. This fine man who is shaking himself to pieces is Herrbrun Adelaar, I believe you had received a picture of his... Oh, and this one..." He made a gesture to one of the two female Jaiden. "Is princess Tatiana Taurain. However she is here in her service as an Jaiden guard and aside from accommodations and any time she raises an good point, you are to treat her as such. It's... an Honor thing."
Smiling slightly way Marcus says his last words, Tatiana managed to refrain from shaking her head in amusement.
"A beautifull... If not cold land you have here. Quite... charming." Adelaar speaks, oddly demurely for a man of his position, from between chattering teeth.

(And picture of Princess Tatiana Taurain when not wearing her uniform.)
Warmly shaking the hand of Marcus, Sanir Nabaal smiled as he listened to the apology coming from his foreign collegue. As he was introduced to the others in the Tarakalar party, he looked at each of them, observing their faces and the emotions speaking from them. It was his job to create a bond between Tarakalar and the Corporation, and knowing how his foreign guests felt about creating that bond would certainly come in handy. For now, each of them looked quite neutral, simply awaiting what would come of all this.
When Marcus finished, Sanir smoothly took the word.
"It is an honor to meet all of you. Please, allow me to introduce Kanye S'Jet and Lera LiirHra. They are students at one of our Academies for the political sciences, and will act as my assistants during this project. The three gentlemen standing by the hoverdynes are Shadow Agents. I know the name sounds kind of dramatic, but that's a relic of old times. The shadow agents are the field operatives of our intelligence service, and they're here to ensure our safety."
As the sun kept climbing, a cold breeze made Sanir shiver slightly. Walking his guests towards the hoverdynes, he noticed a dark shadow blocked the party from the sunrays. Looking up, they noticed a dark colored reptile sliding through the skies at quite a high altitude, with a rider on his back. Before any questions could be asked, Sanir decided to explain.
"That would be a battlemage drakerider. Their order is located in the Corporation, and they deal with any...issues...we might have concerning things of magical nature. Normally, they stay near their academies in the mountains, studying and training, but now they are patrolling the skies due to some problems we have in the region. And as for the cold, that's something we're also getting used to. The nation CairnTarra has erected their Ygdrassil structure in the seas west of here. The base of that structure has changed the current, which lead to an alteration of the local climate here. But don't worry, we'll get to warmer areas soon. Please, get in.."

"An impressive sight. It must be quite exhilerating to fly in such a manner, as for magical difficulties. Well, the Enduring Empire has been fortunate that such occurances have not happened for a long while within our borders. Can't even rightly say when the last time was."
Marcus, spoke with clearly some awe at the sight of the reptile flying high through the sky before he stepped into the hover dyne. Making room so the others could enter, the two jaiden officers would have to join the Shadow agents while Tatiana would sit togheter with Marcus and Herbrrun.
"We have seen this structure of the CairnTarrans via a few of our sattelites. Quite an impressive structure, though the change of your local climate is an somewhat unfortunate result..."
Interrupting Herbrrun, Marcus spoke admonishingly at the younger man as he made himself cofortable within the hover dyne.
"Come now, Adelaar. It's no colder here then it is in the North Land. If you ventured out a bit more often this weather wouldn't bother you so much."
"I happen to like my home Land. No need to go to colder places. Though I must admit, these vehicles were one of the reason I was eager to come here. These Hoverdynes are an amazing display of technology." Directing his last words to Sanir and his two assistants, Herbrrun managed an smile despite his discomfort with the weather.
"Yes, they are indeed. The main reason that our hoverdynes are so suffisticated, is that each Kiith has the technology needed to produce them. You see, for most high-tech products, the patent often lies with one or several conglomerates, within one single Kiith, or maybe two or three. But in this case, every single clan is able to make them. Needless to say that their applications differ greatly. The Sobani use the technology for military vehicles, the LiirHra for luxury craft such as these, and the Riif have designed quite the ingenious series of agricultural appliances based on hoverdyne technology. Together with our Drone and Terraforming industries, hoverdynes are one of the core competencies of the Corporation."
When the name LiirHra was mentioned, a Lera could not supress a slight grin. Coincidently, her father was one of the CEO's of LiirHra's largest hoverdyne manufacturing company. She had always felt very lucky, as this provided her family with plenty of luxury and the right connections for a flourishing career. Her fellow students did not like this so much though, as they suspected it was her 'daddy' that had made Lera so spoiled and arrogant. But she was a good student...no denying that.

"I can well understand why the technology of these vehicles is so wide-spread. The more minds that have access to them the more they can use it for new design, as your Kiith's have proved." Herbrrun responded rather enthusistically, in his position as CEO he had times where he willingly gave up on products unqiue to his corporation, benefitting from the wider spread that occured as well as new possibilities due to the other corporations spreading the new product.
Noticing the slight grin on Lera's face, Marcus put two and two easily togheter as he easily remembered the last name with which she was introduced.
"Well, I for one hope that the Corporations expertise with Hoverdynes will be but one of many points that we shall handle in our discussions here. Emperor Taurain was quite interested when he heard of your people's return to the world's community. And I myself must admit that if we succeed in completing our bussiness it could be an interesting time for both our nations." Smiling slightly, Marcus allowed himself to lean back comfortably in the hoverdyne before addressing lera.
"I for one am quite certain that the Imperial family as well as many other noble family's could be interesting in making seperate orders for several of these luxury hoverdynes with you clan."

OOC: Reading and added it to favourites. That thing is... well huge. Good work so far I have read. I am impressed. PS; Telegram has been send.
The councelor smiled at his guest, replying to his remark. "Off course such a thing should be possible. Just like any other, you are free to negotiate and trade with any conglomerate within the Corporation that you please. It is only because you asked for a complete overhaul of your nations' technology level, that we are treating this matter as an issue for the entire Corporation. Otherwise, we would have just put you in contact with some of the larger Corporations, or at maximum a Kiith family."
As the Naabal politician continued to explain the political system of the Corporation, and the relation between the Daiamid, Council, the Kiithid and the Conglomerates, the two hoverdynes cruised at high speed over the wide boulevard roads of Vishna. The city was a miracle of modern architecture, especially in the eyes of its inhabitants, always proud of their own home. Many buildings were painted white or in a soft yellow color, giving the city a warm and clean atmosphere, something that many tourists knew to enjoy. In Vishna, Kiith Draconis had more influence than any other clan. They had worked hard over the years to make it a beautiful and radiating place, hauling in many millions of tourist venues every holiday season. Another added advantage for Vishna was that the hills around the city were filled with villa's and mansions of retired CEO's and high ranking politicians and military officers, spending their remaining years near the ocean.
After some minutes, the hoverdynes came to a stop near the front entrance of a large skyscraper, colored in the same warm brown and yellow that was seen so often throughout the city. Two banners, each 40 feet long, were hanging at both sides of the main entrance, with the symbol of the Draconi painted on them in deep purple and red colors. Opening the door next to him, their host spoke to his guests.
"Please follow me...this is our destination for today"

“Yes, and we are quite grateful for the fact you are willing to listen to our proposals concerning this matter. We could have asked the whole of Sisgardian nations if they might be willing to aid us, we can imagine it would be cheaper as it would put far less strain on a single nation… But it would be rather inconsiderate as we are offering to you the SFN, too at the same time make such a request would be simply without Honor. A business deal between two nations on the other hand is acceptable, and though costly on both parts we can imagine quite a few benefits on it as well.”
During the ride it became rather clear that both men had their own tasks here. Marcus clearly had an interest in establishing a good relation between the Enduring Empire and the Corporation as well as learning about the Corporation’s functioning while Herbrrun was mostly interested finding ways to benefit from his stay here as much as possible. Tatiana stayed silent during the whole ride, observing the people in the hoverdyne as well as looking through the vehicle’s windows to examine the city they rode through.
When they reached their destination, the three stepped out as the second hoverdyne pulled up behind them. “An impressive building to be sure. And it fits with the rest of the city as well. Good, I always tend to dislike clashing architecture.” Surprisingly, it was Tatiana who spoke now, though the words were still mostly directed at herself and perhaps the two other Jaiden who took place beside her.
Following Sabil’s invitation the group entered the building, each examining the interior in their own way.
Sanir was in doubt concerning the presence of Tatiana. Naturally, he understood that she had to be treated according to her present rank. In the Corporation, the same thing often occured and nobody had any problems with it. However, if the girl could be made into a supporter of the Corporation, such could provide serious benefits once she would ascend to her future status. But then again, trying to smooth the girl too obviously would be noticed by the rest of the Tarakalar delegation, which could result in a negative atmosphere in these current negotiations. Very confusing indeed...
But then he saw that he was not the only one that had discovered this dilemma. Kanye, his assistant but coincidently also the son of a personal friend of his, had realized the same potential in friendly ties with the girl. When she made her comment, he slowed down a little until he walked next to her, and replied: "This tower was the first building of the city Vishna. When Kiith Draconis was instated, they chose to build a city here, and the first thing they constructed was this tower. It must have been an impressive sight, such a huge megalith in a landscape of low hills and dunes. But I am boring you with details. Please tell me: why would a woman of your status join a military organization in low rank?"
Overhearing his words, Sanir smiled. Not only did Kanye find an opening to start a conversating, his question was also an intelligent one. It provided an opportunity to learn more about her personal motivation, as well as the Tarakalar culture. Sanir made a mental note to monitor Kanye to see if this behaviour would continue. If so, a positive recommendation might just be added to his file...

((OOC: Tatiana is 27 years old. Though admittedly most who know her think of her as a girl when she is off-duty.))
The two Jaiden guards easily changed their position around Tatiana as Kanye slowed down so he could walk next to the princess. Holding up to the words that Marcus had said, the two guards seemed more interested in ensuring the safety of the two men then the princess, of course this was most likely only partly true.
Smiling as Kanye told her about the building, Tatiana put her hands behind her back and responded to him, though she did not look at him as her eyes continued to actively observe all that went on. “It sounds like might have been here much like the land around the tower of Adiaar. Though admittedly Adiaar is not as high as this building. But then. It was made over twelve hundred or so years ago… Personally I think it’s a miracle it has not collapsed yet.”
“A bold question, if you were one of the People.” She grinned with clear amusement at her own words as, perhaps rather disturbingly, one of her eyes turned to look at Kanye for a short moment while the other continued to move independently and examine the people around her.
“Why would a woman of my status join a military organization in such a low rank… Several reasons. One; to simply join an organization and expect your social status to help you out it dishonorable for one of the People, your rank is directly related to just how good you are. Two; My rank is not that low. I am normally the Emperor’s personal bodyguard, It was just decided that Marcus might need my help and that I myself could do with seeing a foreign culture.”
Finally, she turned her head so she could really look at Kayne, and though her grin was gone already replaced with a stern looking expression that was rather fitting for a bodyguard, her emerald green eyes shone with amusement, though what she found amusing was something that even most of her friends tended to find hard to figure out.
“But you are rather fortunate that I am rather able to be lenient to others. Had I been either of these two stony ones here…” She made a gesture with her head to indicate the other two Jaiden. “…I would not have spared a single word to you and simply glared you into submission. Jaiden guards, their not good at being spoken too. I take it the same might go for your Shadow Agents when their on duty?”
Kanye's response to Tatiana's question was a broad smile, after which he explained that shadow agents where used for a variety of intelligence affairs, from information gathering, to ensuring the personal security of important individuals. And depending on their task at hand, they would talk as much as the mission required, and little else. Careless chatter could always reveal more information than you thought it would.
After going through a few shor, yet spaceous corridors, the party arrived in a large main hall. It was here that the guests first saw the tremendous amount of glass and hollow space in the building. A large amount of windows offered an excellent view over the bays of Vishna, an advantage of building your structure on the highest hill in the centre of the city. In the middle of the hall, large transparent elevator tubes transported groups of people to higher floors. Sanir turned around a little before adressing the two leaders of the foreign delegation.
"Please, follow me into the elevator. Kiith Draconis has a large board room on the top floor, the penthouse so to speak. Representatives of each Kiith are there for the meeting and the talks that you requested to have. If everything is allright, they are already waiting there, so let us not linger here."
After everybody had entered the elevator, Sanir commanded the platform on which they stood to the top floor with a single vocal command. During the trip up, it could be seen how the various floors were decorated as spacy and modern as one could expect, with a lot of touches of water and green plantlife in the interior. Draconis was a Kiith that had always maintained close bonds with nature, and that could always be seen in their buildings, art and even style of clothing. Sanir was here not as a Kiith representative, but as the official spokesperson of Council. Hence, he was dressed in the official dark blue and white of the Corporation. But the other people in the building were all dressed in the deep purple, green and brown colors of the Draconi.
Silently, the elevator continued its way up.

Nodding, Tatiana noticed the similarity that the Jaiden and the Shadow Agents shared, with the exception that a significant portion of the Jaiden also served as a separate army of elite units.
And as for the restricted talking in regards to a mission was a concept she was all to familiar with, fortunately her reason for being here, and that of the two men she was watching over, was clear enough that their simply was no possibility for her to spill any secrets… Since she actually knew of none.
When the party arrived at the main hall, they responses were a mixture of honest admiration, professional admiration and an professional sense of blasé on the Jaiden’s part. Though it seemed that Marcus would have been willing to wander around for a while longer, most likely to get more of an feel of the people here, Sanir’s request made the man nod his head and smile at spokesperson.
“Of course. Let us not waste the Honorable representatives time, due one of us going for a short sight-seeing, and most certainly getting lost.” Marcus’s words earned a smirk from all three Jaiden while Herbrrun simply shook his head and moved quickly into the elevator before the others.
“I must admit that your architecture is stunning. And more than just the engineering it required. Modern Tarakalarian architecture tends to… lack the atmosphere of the old days and sterile and clean is the newest rage. It’s rather pleasant to see nature have such a well balanced place here in this building. Does the same go for your other buildings?”
“Mister Deleroen is quite correct. Much as I hate to say it a few of the real estate companies part of the Paxelean corporate alliance have been enthralled with the new architecture styles. I mean, even the modern bathhouses feel more like hospitals these days. It has made the baths less popular, I mean who wants to spend willingly extra time in an hospital?” Herbrrun followed up on Marcus’s words. His use of the man’s last name earning an momentary stern look from the Imperial family’s representative, though Herbrrun noticed nothing of it as he was busy scrutinising the architecture whenever he didn't look at his hosts.
Sanir chuckled happily, giving his response. "Well, the architecture is not purely so developed and extensively considered because of mere esthetic concerns. It also adds to the prestige and status of companies and even entire Kiithid. After all, what would impress a person more? A meeting in a building in early 20th century industrial style, or a conference on the top floor of a megalith such as this? I ensure you, many aspects of life in the Corporation have been very carefully thought out, and are the result of very subtl marketing projects."
The lift stopped at exactly the same time as Sanir's sentence did. Continuing through some hallways, they soon entered the conference room, whose doors were opened by two more shadow agents, standing guard outside. From outside, it could be seen that a large oval table, made of glass, was already surrounded by representatives of the Kiithid sitting on efficient, yet very comfortable chairs. Before entering, Sanit turned around, slightly confused.
"I am sorry, but I have a question. Does...ehm...Titiana come with us, or will she stay here with the Jaiden? You see, the guards are not allowed to overhear these talks...we consider them to be private."
Tarakalar
28-02-2004, 23:56
“That would depend on the circumstance, to be honest. But I can certainly understand the point you make. But in this circumstance, a megalith as this certainly is more impressive, afterall it is an example of what hopefully we shall be capable of eventually as well.”
Walking through the hallway, following their hosts lead they soon found themselves before the conference room as Sanir spoke to them once more.
“Tatiana is the Emperor’s personal guard, and though she currently guards us, it means she may hear anything that the Emperor himself may hear. So she may come.” Even as Marcus responded, Tatiana herself had turned around and spoke to the two Jaiden in an rather harsh language that was occasionally interrupted with sharp tongue clicks, then she turned her attention back to their hosts as the two Jaiden took a few steps backward and waited against the wall, their eyes kept on the doors.
“I think we are ready.” Marcus and Herbrrun spoke simultaneously after Tatiana’s commands to the Jaiden.
Sanir heard the language in which Tatiana adressed her collegues. Surprisingly, he found it easy to recognize a certain amount of structure in the sounds and the tone and pitch of her voice. But, as things went with code languages, that still didn't mean he could understand anything she was saying. Deciding that it didn't matter what she said anyway, he guided his guests into the conference room, where he pointed them to several seats next to each other that were still free. As the three guests walked over to their side of the table, Sanir introduced them to the other attendants.
"Ladies, gentlemen, may I have the pleasure to introduce you to Marcus Deleroen, the diplomatic representative of the Tarakalar Imperial Family, Herbrrun Adelaar, representative of the Paxelean corporate alliance, and Tatiana Taurain, princess of the Imperial Family, here in here function as Jaiden guard."
Herbrrun, Tatiana and Marcus, having taken their seats, were greeted by each Kiith representative in their own manner. All eleven great Kiithid were represented, by delegates that each looked very different. Dressed in their own colors, it was quite easy to see which delegate spoke for which Kiith. Some of them made a certain welcoming gesture, others spoke a few ceremonial words, and three of them walked over and shook their hands. Each of them greeted them in seperate manner, a result of cultural differences between their Kiithid. But they were all friendly, and they all seemed to give the newly arrived guests a warm welcome.
Asking a question, Sanir surprisingly turned to Tatiana instead of Marcus. Before the other representatives, he wanted to make clear that Tatiana deserved all respect and was to be treated as royalty, not as a simple guard. Otherwise, some Kiithid representatives might not hesitate to try and use her to attain certain political and commercial advantages. Adressing Tatiana, going over the heads of the two others, would make clear that Council's representatives, and thus Council herself, was telling them that the girl was not to be exploited in such manner. The little political move would be explained to Marcus and Herbrrun later.
"My lady, tell me. Is there anything you would like to know or ask before we commence?"
Tarakalar

The three warmly greeted the representatives back, smiling warmly at them as if they were good friends while also taking good note of the colors and styles of dress they wore.
Sanir’s action of turning his question to Tatiana instead of Marcus or Herbrrun had the odd effect of making the princess seem actually uncomfortable for a moment as she had been put in the ‘spotlight’. Marcus himself looked displeased for a moment, as this was a distinct matter of not treating her as a Jaiden guard, but understanding dawned on him as he examined the Kiithid representatives.
“What I most desire to know is; Has the Corporation previous experience with such an task of overhauling an nation that consists of 20th century style technology to far closer to your own and if so, how big are the risks for you as the unified Vortex Corporation to invest quite literally in the future of my nation?” Despite her discomfort at being the center of attention, Tatiana speaks her words clearly and without hesitation, showing that her discomfort is not one that is liable to effect her actions or thought.
"Well", Sanir replied "that is, of course, the question that are all asking ourselves. But let me start by stating clearly that if we did not think this would have a good chance of succes, we would not be standing here today. When we became a member of the SFN and WTE, our own technological level was ascended to hights we could not have imagine before. Within decades, we have made hoverdynes, drone use, neural uplinks and space combat vessels to technologies that we are familiar with and experienced in, quite the achievement in our own eyes. Furthermore, we have helped other SFN and WTE nations on many occassions, and we have executed many terraforming projects over the past few years."
"But I must admit: we have never tried this sort of thing for an entire nation. We have done it with organizations and institutions, and we have also done it in specific fields of technology, for instance replacing a nations' automobile-driven infrastructure by one that is dominated by hoverdyne and Maglev techniques. However, we think the only difference in this case is one of scale. We will 'simply' do what we have done in many other cases, yet in this particular case, we will do it in many fields and for many people at the same time. This will take a lot of planning, but the fact that we have eleven Kiithid in the corporation, which each command dozens of conglomerates, ensures us that we can put one Kiith or Corporation on each task at hand, being the task that is their specific core competency"
While Sanir talked, the other representatives showed that they agreed with his words by nodding or making soft sounds of approval. Only one of them looked slighty uncomfortable, a man in his fifties dressed in the grey and green of Kiith Gaalsien...
Tarakalar
01-03-2004, 14:23
“I am pleased to hear that, Sanir,” Tatiana responded. True she did not know his last name, unless his clan name was his last name ofcourse… But it was also an deliberate act. For the Tarakalarians use of the first name implied extra importance to that person as well as a bond between the people that made it acceptable to address each other as such. Considering the reason why they were here, it was important to have a bond with as many people as possible.
It was also the reason that Marcus had been displeased by Herbrrun earlier, true these were not Tarakalarians, but even foreigners went with the protocol that people that did not know each other well or didn’t like each other did not call each other by their first names.
“And I for one can understand the risks that the Corporation faces quite an risk should this endeavor continue. But there are many benefits as well, besides of course the knowledge and prestige you get for work on such a great scale. Fortunately the Enduring Empire is old and has throughout it’s history saved vast quantities of money means that even if it goes wrong, we shall see to it that your people will not suffer financial damage.” Tatiana smiled politely, even as one of her eyes moved quickly to take not of the Gaalsien representative and making a note of him, something Marcus had done as well.
“Lady Titania is quite right. Aside from the Enduring Empire itself, Paxelean corporate alliance will also be aiding you in ensuring that as little financial risk exists to both our nations. And ofcourse the Corporation shall be given plenty of real estate, Imperial and corporate, throughout the Enduring Empire to ensure all work goes as smoothly as possible.” Herbrrun spoke now, seemingly more interested now that it concerned finances. Despite this he seemed the most ‘anxious’ of the three .
“Indeed. But of course we shall ask the same of you. Is there anyone of you who wishes to ask us a question about this matter?” Marcus replied as soon as Herbrrun was finished, and though he looked politely at every single representative, his eyes lingered slightly longer on the representative of Kiith Gaalsien.
One of the few women in the room immediately jumped to the opportunity. Dressed in the blue colors of the S'Jet, she represented perhaps the most powerful Kiith in the Corporation, with her clan being the source of almost every new groundbreaking technology in the past few decades. True, they had always co-operated on their projects with scientists from other Kiithid, but the S'Jet were remarkably dominant in the fields of engineering, science and technology.
"On behalf of the S'Jet, I do have something that worries us. If we implement things like maglevs, hoverdynes and other advanced technologies in your nations' daily life, how do you expect that your own industries will respond? Because to be honest, in our opinion they will only have two choices: either they invest huge amounts of time, education and money to be able to also use these new technologies themselves, or they stay the way they are, suddenly finding themselves lagging decades behind in their technologies. Either choice will cause a lot of companies to be destroyed. In the first case, things might simply be too expensive, and in the second, well, that is evident, I would say."
Tarakalar
02-03-2004, 14:14
“Ordinary vehicles will most likely continue being produced, be it as cheaper alternatives, recreational vehicles or other motives. But you are correct. The majority of industries will have to put significant effort into the process of going with the new technologies. And admittedly not everyone can do this.” Marcus responded now to the S’jet representative. “In fact we are quite certain that the Eduyab’Kerrudar population in the deserts of the East Land shall not follow the rest of the Empire as they are entirely self-suffient and content with their current way of life.”
“However the fact is the Enduring Empire needs to become a more advanced nation if it is to have a say in things that happen in the future, and that is why the Emperor is already preparing the ‘Sieyaar’ decree. This decree proclaims that any major industry of importance that refuses to not only adapt but also to assist smaller industries to adapt to the changes, shall be proclaimed non-existent and all of it’s assets will be claimed by the Enduring Empire from which these assets shall then be spread to the other industrial groups to ensure that as much as possible people can go through this transaction without suffering. Naturally the Enduring Empire itself also provides financial assistance to those who simply cannot follow in this path on their own. As Tatiana had said, the Enduring Empire’s resources, such as gold, have had nearly three-thousand years to accumulate and as such, our financial resources are quite vast. We always believed there would be a moment when suffient financial aid would be needed. This might be that moment.” Marcus smiled slightly.
“We cannot completely prevent unpleasant side-effects if this were to happen. This is a simple fact. But we will put in the maximum effort to ensure all undesired side-effects will be minimized. And ofcourse, the overhaul of our nation itself will create new jobs as well. After all, we expect this to take longer then fifty years, this way the People can adapt to the changes.”
Though the S'Jet representatives looked slightly upset upon hearing that an entire subculture in Tarakalar would be willfully left behind, the other representatives looked at Marcus in approval. After all, their own way of life was all about competition and survival of the fittest. The consumer always wanted the best product for the best price. Anyone lagging behind would simply be eradicated from the market because of their own shortages. Quite frankly, such things were common and accepted in the Corporation, though it had to be said that takeovers and mergers were responsible for most of the vanishing companies, with going broke only accounting for a small percentage.
"Now what I would like to know", asked the Soban representative, "is in which area you would like to put the most emphasis. Of course, we understand that many functional areas in your nation need an overhaul, but we have to start at some point, and that point will probably be given the most attention, since it will be the cataclyst for all subsequent events"

Not entirely certain for the reason that the S’Jet seemed to be the only representatives that looked less than happy with his response, Marcus made a mental note to see if he could find out later what the reason was, even as Herbrrun answered the Soban’s question.
“The East Land. More specifically, the country of Tarakalar. It is the historical, social, political and economical heart of the Empire. It houses the most people and still has suffient amounts of open land that are available for the new factories, offices and residential area’s that will need to be created to ensure that your people are fully accommodated while they aid us in the overhaul of the Empire.” He fell silent for a short moment before continueing. “After that the South Land would be the most important as it is the primary food source for the Empire, containing the largest and most expansive agriculture and food processing facilities. Seeing how as out technology increases we will probably require more people, so we better make certain that none of the future generations suffer from hunger.”
(ooc: sorry for the delay, been very busy, will post asap)
"Allright, that will provide us with the right staging area. Now, we were thinking to proceed with as much caution as possible. It is not our intention to establish our businesses in your own country, or to simply give you the technology needed and be done with it. In our own eyes, the best approach is one founded on the concepts of emergent strategy and the learning organization. This would mean that every technology is implemented through project groups, joint ventures and strategic alliances with your own people. Every implementation will be paired with large scale education program, to make sure that those responsible in your nation know very well how to construct, maintain and operate the things we are about to give you. Everything will be done in full coöperation with your own people, and we will be more of a mentor to them than merely those persons that give them a certain piece opf knowledge. Like the old paradigm says, it is better to give a hungry man a fishing rod, than to give him a fish"

“And it will be cheaper on the long run as well, for both parties.” Herbrrun responded, feeling noticeably relieved at the thought that the Corporation wouldn’t plan on mass establishment of their own businesses within Tarakalar.
“I am happy to see that you have similar idea’s on how to handle this matter as we ourselves do. Teaching the scientists and teachers first, then we can use them as well to spread the knowledge necessary to adapt to the changes that will come.”
Marcus smiled, clearly pleased with the response that they had gotten.
”Now that we have established where the first renovations will begin, the question is, what form of renovations is the Corporation willing to start with? As I am quite certain that even with a contract, you might be willing to have a form of ‘test period’ before the major renovations begin.” Speaking once more, Tatiana looked carefully over the assembled Kiith representatives, a thoughtful look as she was certain there would be such an clause.
This time, it was the Paktu representative that took the word. A man in his sixties, he was a politician that retired recently, and now he had found new employment in one of the major Academies in the northern regions of the Corporate territories. He had been relatively silent and quiet until this point, but the reply he made was one that he had carefully thought about.
"Of course, we cannot judge the reaction of your populace as well as you yourselves can do. So if we want to find out about the feasability and efficiency of certain technologies, it should be you who gives us that information. What we really need here is a closed environment, relatively speaking. An organization, subculture or other group in which we can implement the desired changes, and study the responses to it. For instance, we could apply hoverdynes, as well as drone- and medical technology in your military first, and if the initial responses are positive, we can also do the same in civilian environments. The army provides us with a disciplined, coöperating group of individuals that should be able to catch up on certain things quite fast. If we combine that with the involvement of researchers, teachers and professors from 5 or 6 of your primary universities, we should be able to implement things properly. In such a case, the Corporation could teach the military and the intellectual elite how to use these technologies, after which they themselves can expand it to the rest of the population. I think such a top-down process, as hierarchic as it may sound, might be the best course of action."
Tarakalar

“Agreed. A hierarchic process would be best. We begin with the Jaiden Institutions as well as the Aben’rrat council of science. The Jaiden are a large self suffient army, that though not not having the fighting man power of the standard army, makes up for this with more advanced and specialized facilities as well as their own science staffs.” Once more Tatiana spoke before the others, something that seemed to mildly upset Marcus, but then with a small sigh he simply went with it, the moment that Tatiana had been addressed over Marcus or Herbrrun by the Vortex representatives they had changed her purpose more than they might have expected.
“Once suffient Jaiden and Aben’rrat personal have been trained, they can aid in spreading that knowledge more quickly to the standard military forces as well as civilian science faculties….”
“If I may, Jaiden Taurain. But what about the Paxelean Corporate Alliance? We are one of the most influential forces when it comes to the Enduring Empire, and quite frankly we far surpass the Aben’rrat council when it comes to resources, merely because they are an government institution and our facilities are not is irrelevant. Your Emperor after all proclaimed the twelfth rule of the Galc, quite frankly you have no reason nor right to bypass us when it comes to what group is introduced to this technology. Doing so would go directly against your Emperor’s wishes, as is written in the twelfth rule of the Galc.” Herbrrun smiled benignly at Tatiana and his words came calmly, yet the impact they seemed to have on both Marcus and Tatiana was as if they both had been hit by a sledge hammer, and then got hit again as they were down.
“Please excuse us, I fear we must momentarily take a moment of privacy for ourselves.” Marcus’s stood up almost immediately and his words were smooth, yet it was clear that he was shaking slightly with anger and he lifted Herbrrun up by his shoulder forcefully, yet managed to make it seem he merely helped him up. Tatiana at the same time had stood up as well, her lack of control of her expression was more clearly visible then Marcus’s and if look could kill, then Herbrrun would have no bloodline left at all.
“I apologize as well for this matter. But it seems a small private conversation is in order. The Blood of the emperor offers it’s deepest apologies to the Honorable representatives willing to receive us here and hopefully forgive us for this… unforeseen event.” The words came out difficultly and it seemed that every word that came from Tatiana’s mouth stung her as she bowed to the representatives, deeper then most royalty would bow to others, doubly so for the Taurain family. Then, she got up, and with an apologetic glance at Sanir she turned around and followed Marcus who nearly dragged Herbrrun behind him out of the conference room, not even bothering to wait to see if permission to leave would actually be given by the representatives.
((OOC: Hehe. ))
The twelve Corporate representatives in the room looked at the scene evolving. Some watched with indifference, others were fascinated, grasping every chance to understand more of the ways of their guests. Most of them, however, looked discomforted at the thought of a 'private conversation'. Each of them incalculated the possibility that the Taralakar delegates somehow wanted to talk amongst each other to get some sort of advantage out of these negotiations.
For a moment, Sanir pondered his course of action. Like any other Kiith headquarters, there were shadow agents here, and shadow agents often carried Wraith II suits that enabled them to cloak for a limited amount of time. Silently summoning one and sending him after the three would take only seconds, but it would also be a violation of protocol. And plus, there was no way he could do it without letting at least several others here notice it, since each of them was a veteran of negotiations and business.
So...he decided not to make an attempt to get hold of the conversation. Probably, Kiith Draconis would have camera's and microphones in the building, but even if they managed to get the conversation on tape, it would be unlikely that they would share the information therein with the other Kiithid, who were, in effect, still their competitors.
Deciding to make the best of this short interlude, he wandered over to the Soban representative, asking him about several joint ventures between both their respective Kiithid, awaiting the return of their guests.

“Are you out of your mind!?” Tatiana hissed at Herbrrun as Marcus pushed the man away from him the moment they had left the conference room and reached a spot without any people who would accidentally walk by.
“Not quite.” Brushing imaginary dust from himself, Herbrrun smirked at the two Imperial representatives, his posture now more confident then it had been in the presence of the Vortex people. “It just seemed the best way to gain both your attention to inform you a change in agreement is required.”
“A ’change of agreement’? I should gut you where you stand, Tandori filth and then…” Placing a hand on Tatiana’s shoulder, Marcus looked around carefully. “Careful, my princess. I do not belief our hosts would appreciate such words or actions while we are here… But she is right, Adelaar, what possesses you to pull such an insane trick at this moment of all times?” Adressing Herbrrun by his last name, for the first time, Marcus had let go of all kindness he had shown previously at the man and now simply glared at him.
“Well simple. As I said, the twelfth rule of Galc. As I recall the basics of this rule proclaim that the Empire has the right to call upon any resources of any privately owned group within the Land of the Empire in times of need or as an punishment. In case of punishment the group in question has nothing to demand and must simply comply with the wishes of th…”
“Exactly! A punishment, Tandori maggot! So what does your Cariné infested mind seem to think in demanding that you are in someway even allowed to be expecting more. I knew my father had to kind in letting your filth live after your treason.”
“As I was going to say, before being so rudely interrupted…” Herbrrun still smirked as Tatiana had interrupted him, clearly not impressed by her tirade against him. “… The punishment may only be put on a group who is solely located on the Land within the Empire. And since your father opened the borders a few years ago, the Paxelean Corporate Alliance has expanded it’s holdings beyond the Land of the Empire. Hence, we may not be punished by the twelfth rule of Galc. So, if the rule is used upon us then it must be done as a request of aid, a request that we by law must benefit from as well. So as you can see, my dear… You have no right not to let the Paxelean Corporate Alliance not be amongst the first two to benefit from this deal. Hence, if you wish the Paxelean Corporate Alliance to help you in softening this financial blow to your precious Empire, you make certain we are properly repaid for our services… Oh and Marcus, could you tell the Jaiden Bodyguard that I have citizenship in another country as well, so killing me could cause a political fiasco.” Grinning, Herbrrun pointed at Tatiana, his manner to far to smug for the other two.
Holding Tatiana back taking another step to Herbrrun, Marcus spoke at Herbrrun, clearly as angered as Tatiana, but more able to control himself. “What you ask is ridiculous, Adelaar. The Emperor’s decree is simple. This is a chance to redeem yourself. Or do you really wish to find that confidential information of your role in the Tandori dictatorship a decade ago seeps into the people? I doubt you would ever sleep calmly again.”
And open threat, but then secrecy had never been something that the Taurain regime boasted about… They preferred to put their cards in clear view.
“Marcus, I am shocked. I Expected more from you. Threats or no, the deal is simple… You wish the aid of the Paxelean Corporate Alliance? Then make certain we benefit from it. You have no legal or other ridiculous old laws with which you may force us. The Paxelean Corporate Alliance after all has no history of any wrong doings.”
“Very well, Tandori. If the Paxelean Corporate Alliance aids us, then it shall benefit from it.” Both men looked with shock down on Tatiana as the shorter woman had said her words to Herbrrun, who seemed to need several seconds to take in her words.
“Well… Good. I didn’t think you would see reason this quickly… Perhaps there is more to your Taurain blood then I had thought.” A overly sweet smile was given to Tatiana as if it could hide the clear insult his words contained. Then Herbrrun changed back, his confidence seemed to melt away and the more nervous man that had shown himself to the Vortex people stood in his place.
“Shall we go back again then?” A small smirk broke his persona but it disappeared quickly as he walked towards the conference room once more. Marcus looked down on Tatiana, a look of shock still on his face but before he could ask her about what she had done she simply patted him on the shoulder and calmly followed Herbrrun as they entered the conference room once more.
When their guests had left the room, a few seconds of absolute silence followed. Most delegates either looked at the documents in front of them, or stared out the window to view the landscapes outside. But before long, it was the Paktu representative that broke the silence. He merely said a few words in the Paktu dialect, but it was enough to grasp the attention of the other representatives there.
"They are divided amongst themselves"
Since the Paktu were amongst the most powerful Kiithid, and had been so for centuries, all others present had been educated in their own language, causing each individual to clearly understand what was said. Immediately, the Kendarat representative asked for clarification.
"There is a certain atmosphere of hostility amongst the two men. The woman seems less involved, but they do not form a unified front. It may be possible that not every Tarakalar representative is that happy with the current events, or perhaps something else is going on behind the scenes."
"Shall we just ask them about it?"
"That will only result in a diplomatic lie, probably. We need to change course slightly, come up with proposals that will either favor or disadvantage certain parties. Maybe we can judge their responses from that."
The LiirHra representative was right. The best way to find out how the situation was, was to present the Tarakalar people with a diversity of proposals and possibilities, and then judge their reaction. But there was something else on his mind...
"They mentioned that we could choose a reward, more or less without limitations. Do we have anything..."
A short reply from Sanir cut off his question. "That has been arranged. You will see"

Walking ahead of the other two delegates, Herbrrun Adelaar entered the conference room with an happy air and he nodded to the other representatives politely as he sat down. A small distance behind him, Marcus Deleroen and Tatiana Taurain spoke softly to each other in one of the many variants of the Eastern Tongue that was used in Tarakalar.
“I want us to slow down these negotiations, my friend. We have to buy enough time that we are certain that we need to stay here for at least three days before being able to go back. Your better with words of the two of us, so find excuses. Have them give us demonstrations of the technologies they will share with us, show us their culture, anything before we finish these negotiations.”
“If that is what you ask, my princess…” Looking far from certain, Marcus made his way to sit beside Herbrrun, no longer bothering to act like he cared for the man in any positive way, though not openly glaring at him either.
Tatiana managed to look mostly neutral, though she too seemed unhappy with what happened while they were in the corridor for a moment. Taking a deep breath, she gave a smile at the Kiith representatives. “Once more I apologize for this sudden action of ours and hope you can forgive us. May we resume our discussions?”
Sanir stared at the princess, wondering why it was her and not Marcus that had spoken first...perhaps a shift of dominance within their group? He didn't know, but promised himself that he would keep his eyes open.
"Of course we may. Please, retake your seats and ask us anything you want. If I am correct, we had just agreed that the changes will initially made in one testing region, and that everything will be taught to your own people, instead of merely placing new technology in your society without accompanying it with the proper education."

“Ah yes, of course. Implementation should begin in the East Land, as for to what groups of people we should teach it first, well that is something that is still open for debate to find out what would be the best way to start. We shouldn’t rush things on a scale like this after all.” Protocol seemed to be an oddity to the Tarakalarians, as it was now once more Marcus that spoke and seemed to have taken the lead again. Truthfully, to the three of them the rules of proper diplomacy were well known, and with the exception of a short outburst moments before they had been following it properly… Though they realized that the Kiith representatives might be puzzled by the apparently shifting role of spokesperson that the Tarakalarians were involved with.
Though he nodded at Marcus’s words, Herbrrun didn’t seemed to entirely sure whether to look mildly displeased or pleased at them, but Marcus continued on before the man could let any of his thoughts on it known.
“Then of course there is also the matter of providing living conditions for any teachers and other employees that may be send by the Vortex Company. We personally think that a K’san, or Enclave, in which we can house a substantial number of your people. You can design this K’san to how you see fit, which means your people could live in a fashion there used to here, architecture and culturally. Within the K’san the law the Vortex Corporation makes the law, though the Imperial House itself has the right to override these laws if something of questionable intent happens within the K’san that involves the People of our Empire. Naturally traffic in and out of the K’san should be free for both our People during day time, your free to institute a night curfew naturally though. We have a long history of using K’san’s and as such have trust such a thing could work, as well as allow both our people to become familiar with each other’s culture’s without feeling like it is being trust onto them. Indeed three of our larger cities are in fact K’san’s at heart, as can be told by the walls around them, which date back to the days when the Empire still spread it’s reach across Tavaroth.”
“Yes. Though admittedly the K’san’s of Nasaron, Taln and Goudwijk are true cities of Tarakalar with strong influences of their old people these days rather then actual separate K’san’s.” Tatiana smiled, and the way both she and Marcus spoke of this idea made it clear it had their personal support.
The idea of an enclave caused some silent excitement in the Kiithid representatives. Each Kiith had one city in the Corporation where they had their headquarters, like Vishna being the prime city of Kiith Draconis. Most conglomerates of the Kiithid had their own centre of power in or near those cities, essentially creating a sociogeographical separation of Kiithid family that resembled the classic idea of a province in structure. But under the Corporate flag, many Kiithid had aquired assets in 'foreign' territory, that both being in other nations, as well as in other Kiith areas. Over the decades, the Kiithid had mingled and integrated too a very high extint, allowing them to act as a united force under the Vortex name. But the enclave would create some issues.
Currently, one or two Kiith were dominant in every city of the Corporation. But the Kiithid would act as one unified whole to help the projects in Tarakalar to be completed. So the question would become: which Kiith would become the dominant influence in the K'San, if one would be constructed?
Some of the representatives already started looking around, for possible clues with their colelgues as to who were interested and who were not. The S'Jet and Paktu speakers eyed each other, their Kiithid both being highly advanced in science and technology, always looking for new foreign influences that could be rejuvenation and innovation to existing processes. They were both interested...as were the Soban and LiirHra speakers, both of them being strong military Kiithid that would want to have strongholds in strategic locations.
Fortunately, the Nabaal speaker decided that wisdom was a greater virtue than aquired political power. Slowly standing up from his seat, he nodded at the three guests.
"My lady, gentlemen, such an offer would be extremely interesting. However, since all Corporate assets are divided over the Kiithid, we now have the issue of which of our eleven dominant Kiithid would aquire the K'San as an asset. As you have probably seen in our body language, each of us recognizes that such an asset in your country would be a highly profitable venture, whether the enclave would be used as a military concentration, a centre for science and technology, or simply as a connection with foreign culture. So you see, with your generous offer, you have created a silent competition between the Kiithid. So before continuing, I think we sould eradicate this little problem. I hereby declare that the Nabaal will support a proposal to put the enclave in the hands of Kiith Riif. The Riif have always tried to remain politically neutral, and have never hesitated to share possible profitable ventures with other families. Of all Kiith, they have the greatest taste for subtlty and political peace, and they will always respect foreign culture. How say you?"
The other speakers looked a little bit uneasy. If they agreed, their chances for dominance would be lost. If they disagreed, they would admit to their greed, and could be interpreted as being the typical 'capitalist pigs', as socialist countries liked to refer to them. But then the Manaan speaker got up, and smiled.
"I agree. This project is designed to help a fellow SFN nation, not for our own personal gain. The Manaan support the Riif and the Nabaal proposal."
This changed things...the Manaan and Nabaal were among the five most powerful Kiithid, and both their speakers were seasoned veterans in the field of negotiations. One by one, the speakers and representatives nodded and spoke in agreement. Minutes later, a gentlemen's agreement had been reached: the Riif would govern the K'San, but every other Kiith would be allowed access and investment in and around the K'San.

They seemed slightly surprised when the Nabaal representative said that their offer had caused a feeling of competition between them, though it appeared they were more surprised with the admissal of this rather then the competitive feeling they had until the Nabaal representative proposed to put the Kiith Riif in charge of the enclave.
All three watched with interest as they watched the scene evolve before them, pleased smiles coming on all three their faces as they heard the agreement that the Kiith came upon concerning the enclave.
“That sounds like a sensible agreement to us, a unified front would be most effient especially considering the enclave has purposes besides merely offering housing to Outlanders like they did in ages past.” Marcus nodded his head thoughtfully at the Kiith representatives. “Also of course their will be services that the K’san can provide outside it’s own borders as well as inside. By laws of old a K’san may have it’s own standing military force of reasonable proportions to it’s total population, this is besides law enforcers and of course the people required to provide services to the K’san military force. A K’san of thousand people might have a total of hundred fully trained and properly supplied soldiers as well as several military vehicles… We admit that we still have to work out what Vortex military vehicles could be considered ‘proper’ to be used to aid in the defense of a K’san, it has been centuries since the last K’san has been made afterall.”
The Soban representative, being the speaker for the Kiith with the most military power in the Corporation, smiled in himself, not showing any alteration of expression on his face. This information meant that he could stage exercises between Tarakalar and TVC forces, increasing both the efficiency of the separate forces, as well as the synergy between them when working as a unified entity. While he silently started pondering ways to get some military issues on the K'San agenda, the discussion continued, with the Gaalsien representative asking his first question.
"My lady, gentlemen...I think we have come to many agreements here. We now know where our personnel will live, how we will teach you the proper use of our technologies and how to make them, as well as where we will start this magnificent venture. All that remains is discussing which technologies should be implemented first, and which ones will follow after that. However, before coming to that point...I think there is something we have still missed."
Making a slight gesture to the documents in front of him, he continued. "We know very little of your nation, except for what we can all read in the documents you have provided us with. But I wish to hear some things from your own mouths. What is your political structure, your religious background? What is it that you actually wish to achieve with this enterprise? What are the characteristics of your culture?...I know that these are many questions to just answer right away, but I am merely asking them because I am curious about what kind of nation we are exactly helping here..."

25-03-2004, 12:12
“Of course. But perhaps after we have told you about our nation, you could show us around this city and what you have accomplished here? This will give us some more insight into you as well.”
Marcus smiled slightly as he leaned back, looking at the other two, and seeing the dispassionate look of Herbrrun and a small nod of Tatiana he spoke again. “The Enduring Empire itself is over five thousand years old, and of those five thousand years it has existed in roughly it’s current form for over four thousand years. The imperial family, the Taurain, have served the Enduring Empire for a total period of some four thousand and two hundred years, having occasionally been toppled over by political intrigue or other means. The fact they always came back is proof of the bond they have with the People and the land, it is considered impossible for either our nation or the Taurain’s to exist without each other, something the People belief devoutly in.”
He paused for a moment and took a sip of the glass of water that stood in front of him on the table. “Due these long time-spans the People are very traditional, even if by some standards we can come of as crass and abrupt. We are a People of warriors at heart, though we prefer peace over war…. Politically we could be considered a dictatorship I suppose, because while the Emperor has an council to aid him in decision making, his voice is absolute and non may act against it without suffering the consequences.” There was a short moment of silence, and though none of the three representatives seemed to do anything special, there was a distinct feeling of distaste directed at Herbrrun, but as sudden as it came Marcus resumed to talk and the air between the three became as it was before again. “We pride ourselves on our acceptance of other people, consisting of four greater races, us Humans, the Eduyab’Kerrudar , the Kerrat and finally the Benodic, the native inhabitants of the Tavaroth continent and the ones who allowed for the Elves to live on as Eduyab’Kerrudar, shaping all of Tavaroth into it’s current form as well as aid in the unification of the Empire under Taurain rule.”
The last species was named with an air of reverence and all three representatives acted unison this time by turning their right hands so that the palm of their hands aimed up.
“Then we have a few smaller groups of people, Outlanders who have come to make home within our borders, something that is easy to do since we are willing to respect all who are willing to respect us in turn… This however does not go completely go up for the matter of religion. We have a long and troubling history with the monotheistic religions and as such have grown exceptionally suspicious of them to the point that active worship of following of such religions is outlawed within the Empire, this won’t go up for the K’san of course. Our own religious system is… enormous to put simply. As the Empire consists of dozens of countries, ranging from small to large, in four distinct Lands it means that we have no center religion. Indeed some religions are the same carrying only a different name, location and slightly altered practices.”
Smiling slightly, Marcus looked at the representatives, waiting to see if they wanted to ask anything else about Tarakalar or more in-depth details.
During the monologue, Sanir softly spoke into an earpiece that he had been wearing for the best part of the day now. He didn't particularly enjoy the annoying things, but they were a necessary part of a politician's life, as it allowed him to instantly connect with collegues, subordiantes and superiors. With a few words, he established a connection with one of his personal assistants, telling her to arrange a tour around the city, tailored to the wishes and probable interests of their guests. Immediately after doing so, he got back to giving his full attention to Marcus. After the foreign representative had finished his last sentence, Sanir himself made the first reply.
"These other three races, can you tell us more about them? Their names sound exotic and foreign, and it would be important to know if they either support or oppose our plans. Or perhaps they are just indifferent towards them. Either way, we should know a little more about them than their mere names."
Tarakalar
26-03-2004, 20:09
“Exotic?” Marcus looked confused before realization dawned on his face and he smiled. “Not truly exotic as all their names are in the ‘Gaje’ Eastern Tongue, the most predominate of the tongues, I can imagine that in English it sounds exotic, just to used to it to really notice it. As for their opinions on the ‘renovation’ of the Empire, well to our knowledge their opinions are the same as the humans, we do not bother to truly consider any differences, if one is of the People then they are that above all else.”
He licked his lips briefly as he thought for a few moments. “As had been said, the Eduyab’Kerrudar are descendents of Elves, they came to Tavaroth from the Eastern sea, whereas the majority of the humans came from up north to the non unified lands of Handalar. They do not oppose the decision but as we said, they will not take part of it. They have chosen for that, feeling that their way of life is not in need of technological improvements. The Kerrat are the youngest of the four races within the Empire. They originally hail from outside our region and suffered political difficulties, we were actually eager to try and see if we could incorporate them into our culture, and are proud to say that so far we are succeeding quite well. You may have seen them by television or other means, they are virtually entirely humanoid safe for the fact they have the heads of panthers and posses tails and sometimes small tufts of fur on the back of their hands or chest. Now the Benodic…”
Falling silent, Marcus looks almost helplessly at Tatiana who nods at him and takes the word, something which seems to relax the man.
“The Benodic are the native inhabitants of the continent Tavaroth, we are not even certain if they live anywhere else or have ever done so. They are, for a lack of a better word, spirits. We do not know their stance on this matter but seeing as how they never complained about our previous technological advances we do not think they will do so over this either. If they do do so however… Then we would have little choice but to pay you for the services you would offer but to not accept said services. For though the Taurain may protect and Serve the People and the Empire, Tavaroth belongs to the Benodic now and forever, this is a lesson we have learned through history in both good and ill tidings.”
"Well", the LiirHra representative replied, "neither one of the descriptions you have given here seems to indicate any potential objections to our plans. However, I hope you will understand that Kiith LiirHra will ask its Intelligence Service to dig up any information they can find concerning the races of Tarakalar. Not only will it satisfy the paranoia that many of us carry, but it will also allow for a better quality of interaction, should we ever come into contact with either of them. And I am certain the other Kiithid will take a similar course of action."
With some of the representatives, mainly those of the more conservative clans, nodding in approval, Sanir once again took the word.
"About that tour through the city you requested....it has been arranged for, but I wonder what parts of it you would want to see? Vishna is quite the metropolis, with almost every type of district one could expect, and we hardly have time to show you a city of millions in the short time that is available to us."
Tarakalar
