Coat of Arms
The Holy Empire of Ingaevonia (pronounced "In-GAE-voh-ni-a") is a nation situated on the northwestern coast of the Antarian Continent.
Climate
The northwestern part of Antaria is a bit colder than the rest of the continent. Ingaevonia consists of mostly flat land with fertile grounds for grazing or agriculture. At least half of the nation is bordered by sea. The Ingvaenians are thus quite seafaring. They love to eat fish, as well as meat coming from the grasslands. In the east a ridge of mountains exist, where is it cold and quite wet.
The typical Ingaevarian summer is warm, not too dry and overall speaking quite pleasent. Temperatures are between 25 and 38 C.
The winters however are quit harsh, where temperatures may drop to -20 C. Lot of snow, plenty of ice. At the coast the difference between winter and summer are less ofcourse. For that reason, as well as the perfect base for trade, the largest cities of Ingaevonia lie near the coast.
Geography
Bordering Ingaevonia to the south is the Theocracy of Vahltania, with whom, despite their religious disagreements, the Ingaevanians have a strong bond. Whenever an Ingaevanian meets a Vahltanian, he or she is greeted as "brother" or "sister". Both nations also like to holiday in the other nation.

The Imperial Standard
The Head of State is the Holy Emperor, currently Aserad I, son of Egbert II. Asisting His Holy Imperial Majesty (HHIM) is a Council of Ministers. Also, there is a Senate who represent 13 Provinces and there is a Parlement, the members of which are voted directly by the People.
Each province is headed by a Governour and his Council. The Governour is appointed by HHIM, the Council elected by the People.
National and Provincial elections are held every four years, yet never in the same year.
People
The Ingvaenians are the offspring of various tribes who roamed the lands many centuries ago. They are tall with a pale complexion. All sorts of hair- and eyecolours exist among these people.
Important to the Ingaevanians, is family. Every family has a large book on a shelf with their pedigree. Also is it quite costumary to put up one's family crest above one's front door. Yet, the strange thing is that the Ingaevanians like to judge another as an individual. Ever since the reign of Grimwald II the Great, who introduced an Enlightened way to rule, the people have adopted a Liberal way of living. Although other parties exist in Ingaevania, the Liberals (who are separated into 3 political parties) have always been the largest.
Quite basically Ingaevonia is a class society. Class is based upon the intellectuel level of the person and family. The pressure upon a person to perform well at school is thus quite great. Failure is not taken well, yet forgiven if the person in question redeems him or herself in any way possible.
Because education is deemed so importent, the primary and secondary schools are sponsored by the government, to accomodate the lower, poorer classes and give them a chance to advance. Aside from the "Imperial Schools", also private schools exist. However, they are all seculair, since in Ingaevania a strong separation between Temple and State exists.
The most famous university, is the 'Universiteyt van Xanten'.
Every Ingaevanian above the age of 18 is allowed to drink alcohol, buy marihuana, marry, drive a car and vote. Divorcing is widely accepted.
Military
Every male who leaves the secondary school had to spend a year in military service. After that he has to come back every year for two weeks for additional training. Once could state that every Ingaevanian man is a soldier, thus creating an impressive army. Overall speaking the Ingaevanians are not afraid to do battle. In fact, they live for glory. Personal as well for their people. They romantisize their homeground ('Heemlandt' in their own language)., their folklore and take great pride in being Ingaevanian. They are a very nationalistic people, which can be seen by much military display (flags, banners, parades, marching music).

Imperial Warflag
They also love uniforms. Every excuse to put on one is taken.
It may be surprising to people that yet the Ingaevanians love peace. They believe that violence may only be resorted to when there is a just cause.
The elite forces of the Imperial Army are specially trained commando's, called the Imperial Solduri. They (like to) trace their origins to the time of the Indogermanic tribes, thousands of years ago.
Religion
The Ingaevarian believe that there are several gods who guard over them. The most important one is Wodan. They see Donar, son of Wodan, as their personal protector. Every region has their own most important god or goddess, but Wodan, Donar and Tyr, god of war, are worshipped everywhere.
To worship Ingaevanians visit a temple. In a temple all the gods have their own corner. The religious leader of Ingaevonia is the Oracle, who resides in the capital city of Thrudheim. The practice of sacrifice has been done away with ages ago, when the Oracle of the time let known the Gods no longer wished to recieve those. However, erecting monuments or naming buildings or ships after the Gods (the "Asen") is still done.
hope this is better :)
