Sketch declares Europa off limits

Sketch

***System Wide Transmission***

Attention all parties with interests on Europa

Due to the disturbing amounts of extra-national interests laying ill founded claims to lands on Europa, the Holy Order of Sketch hereby proclaims that the Northern Hemisphere of Europa is now strictly off limits to all nations. The borders of Sketchian lands on Europa extend all the way to the Europan equator. Any nations with claims to lands within these borders are hereby directed to rescind those claims and remove all assests on said lands within 60 Earth days. Failure to comply with these directives will result in overwhelming military action. Those with legitimate claims to said lands (Menelmacar, Kaenei, Der Angst, Mallberta, Ravenspire) will be generously compensated for their loss.

For those who wish to contest our legitamacy to make such claims, will shall remind them that Sketch Europa contains the main body of the Sketchian populace, which numbers nearly 3 billion. These claims have been laid in the interests of future Sketchian growth and land requirements. As we shall reiterate - we will not hesitate to use military action to safeguard the interests of the Sketchian peoples. That is all.

***End Transmission***

ooc: you think you have a legitemate claim, bring it up and we'll discuss it. I'll not have anymore people pitching tents in the living room or mining in my backyard.

For the people who I have recognized: it will be much easier for us (meaning me) if you would conviently locate your claims somewhere not in the Northern Hemisphere.

Then we have a problem. Moving to the southern hemisphere is totally against what RP and storyline I've built up. I am on Europa as a direct result of the Sketchen war, and the three million Kaeneians killed on the worldisc as a result of Sketchen attack.

Der Angst is there becuase I granted him permission to land, and establish a colony.

Clearly, we have a problem here.

What would you suggest? And what exactly is "Generous Compensation" for losing a footing on an entire world, and the loss of an entire RP storyline?

The Serene^Union formally denies the Eizen requested withdrawl. Should you care to look back apon events unfolded, you would see our presence on Europa sacred and needed. Your input is no longer requested nor required. Any attempt at forcing Kaeneian interests from the Europan sphere will be met without hesitation. You have been warned.

Foe Hammer Shipyards has always had it's eyes set on Europa, and was planning to build a Vessel Maintanance Yard in a rather small (30x20km) section of the northern Hemisphere. Upon hearing news of your claim, we are deeply disappointed.

However, perhaps we could purchase a small 30x20km section from you, for any price you desire. We make trillions per year, and are more than eager to build such a facility on Europa, while still respecting your claims.

Interference in our construction of our Europan colony will not be tolerated. However, as our colony is located in the southern hemispehre, it is unlikely that conflict should arise. However, for the sake on diplomacy, we do suggest that such a hard line not be taken. It could prove... bad for you.

"While we can understand the Sketchian interests in keeping a dominant position on Europa, We cannot understand, nor accept declaring such a territory 'off limits'.

The nations being there, established years, if not decades ago, wont move just because you demand it.

I`m sure there are more elegant solutions than just claiming the northern hemisphere. A claim that will undoubtly result in serious problems for all nations involved."

ooc: While I understand that your 3bn people need space, I would 1. suggest that you simply have the necessary space and 2. When NS earth can hold any number of people, I see no reason why other moons/ planets can`t. It makes live much simpler. Basically, organising Borders with some residents is preferable.

Oh, and I have to check my exact geographic position with Kaenei, more to come later)

Apparently no one bothers to actually read the posted message. I neither claimed the entirity of Europa for myself, nor have I actually "moved" anyone off. What I have done was make a specific claim to a specific location. Since no one has actually done that before, I don't see what's wrong with just not having your colony/ming outpost/trade station/whatever "located" where I laid claim. And for those who say that there's plenty of room, yes, for the people who are there NOW. I've been seeing a disturbing amount of expansionism recently, and I'll not have anyone else be expanding into my backyard.

Europa has roughly 30 million km^2 of land. For my population to live comfortable and have the safety of buffer zones that Sketch would require, I need 15 million km^2. Since I'm not on the infinitely sized NS Earth, I am constrained by RL sizes. It makes no sense to have everything be of infinite size and living area, otherwise, who would care if every Tom, Dick, and Harry decided to start colonizing?

RE: Europa

The issue at hand is not merely maintaining a dominant position on Europa, it is ensuring that the Sketchian people are afforded the space necessary to grow and expand. You speak of territories which have been set in place for decades. According to the last land survey, there are no such claims in the Northern Hemisphere. We are sure that you would agree that there has been a disturbing increase in the amount of small nations arbitrarily laying unsubstantiated claims to holdings which they cannot possibly maintain. Sketch Europa has been a major population center for far longer than any of these other "colonies". Certainly we have more right to claim vital living space than those who don't need it. It is unfortunate that we are unable to see eye to eye on the matter. Perhaps overtime you will come to understand.

RE: Europa

So long as you have no interests in the Northern Hemisphere there will be no conflict. We could care less what other s do in the South. However, making veiled threats when the lives of more than two billion people are at stake is not a wise move. We suggest that you reconsider your statements in the future.

It's amazing how some of Sketch's "opponents" in this seem to think that he cares what the international community thinks of his actions. Sketch wanted the land, Sketch needed the land, Sketch claimed the land, and Sketch issued an order to protect his land, his assets, and his people.

There has yet to be a proven counter-claim to that of Sketch. Until one surfaces, the area claimed by Sketch will be hereby regarded as Sketchian territory.

Angelus and Sketch, stop flaming each other. Now, Sketch has said that he has something worked out with Kaenei, and I'm willing to believe him; I'm sure Kaenei will confirm it when he comes back from on holiday.

For now, I'd say operate under the current estimation of the status quo (Sketch is on Europa, has a claim--legitimate or no, it doesn't really matter, seeing how that's in the eye of the beholder anyway--and said claim is being supported by some and denied by others) and play nice. Saber-rattling is an established diplomatic tactic but please, people, at least don't take it personally.

If nothing else, at least take this to telegrams or something so you can come up with some agreement that doesn't require flaming up the boards. If the difference seems unreconcilable, I'd wait until the other major player (Kaenei) shows up and see what he thinks. Just a suggestion.
