((Thank you, AFRP and Teritora, for giving me something to work off of.))

Vora found several sophisitcated surviellence devices, as was to be expected, as well as a small sheet of some plastic explosive in a book placed on the bedstand. Chances were, she had certainly missed something, despite her efforts.

Vora however was an extremely light sleeper and she was always armed even when sleeping after all in her profession, an heavy sleeper did not live long but many her supsion had been raised with the statement about why they were neeeded. Other reasons for the lack of agents even with the civil war and the lack of information given. It was better to be paronoid then dead.

Zion checked his accomidations for listening devices. He was a sniper, not a spy, so he really didn't have much of an idea of what to look for, besides the stuff he'd seen in the movies.

Finding, none, he sat down at the provided table to dis-assemble his rifle.
An hour later, Zion slapped the eight-round clip back into the weapon, worked the action, ejected the clip, then added a bullet. Zion was one to always keep a round in the chamber, nine kills beat eight any day of the week.

His nightly ritual completed, he shucked off his RDMA BDU jacket and dropped for some push-ups, laying his Berretta next to his WA2000 when it fell out of his waistband.

'One-hundred ninty-nine... two-hundred...'

Yet another hour later, Zion finished his workout. His pecs and arms burning, he squared off with his shadow for some HTH practice.

'Shin-kick, Right-hook, Left-jab, Groin-kick, Neck-breaker...'

Zion went through a lengthy combination...

'Throat-strike, Knee-trap...'

Another of his favorites...

'Groin-kick, Knee-thrust, Uppercut...'

Quick and effective...

Zion wasn't trained in anything overly-extravagant, his was the style of a street-figther, a combination of USMC MCMAK, RDMA Basic Unarmed Combat, and a few trickes he'd picked up along the way.

Peter kept on for another hour with his unarmed fighting practice before lying down on the still-made bed for a nap before the next bragging contest...

Blaine slowly clamors his was towards his room after watching the spar for a few minutes before reminding himself, "Close combat should be a one strike kill done in stealth and silence, hand to hand engagements are often futile and leave even the victor drained."

Once again smiling wryly he enters his spartan quarters, sets down his duffle next to him and seats him self in a psedo lotus position. He meticulusly begins to disasemble his M-17 (at M-16 with a higher caliber and scope) cleaning it and making sure it was in top working order.

Pulling out the massive case containing his exo-skeleton he does the same, the voice of a forgotten drill instructor ringing in his ears, "Your weapons and your armor are the only thing standing between you and death. You must know both of them in and out, you must trust them and they must trust you. For they are strenght to your weakness, just as you are to them."

After about an hour and a half of checking all the servos and metalic muscels, he finally feels satisfied on their condition. Drawing back into a stance he begins to perform a now almost automatic form, designed to help focus the mind and strenghten the body, and does it repeatedly for nearly two hours before finally feeling satified with his performance despite the few critiques his mind shouted at him.

Crawling into bed he only removed his boots before slidding under the covers and dreaming tactical dreams.

One smiled for a moment at the delicate Elf, almost softly. Then his demeanor took on the brutally cold look he was known for.

"No. Get into the arena." He responded, before grinning in relish and continuing down the hall.

When we move out, some of you are going with Three. This is going to be easy and fun, so don't sweat it. Until then, it's all the hard stuff. Today's special is more firearms, then vehicles, and finally a few days of hardcore simulation."

With a slight flourish, he spun on his heel and walked through a disguised door. As the others followed, they came upon an expansive field, various concrete outposts dotting the terrain.

"Three designed this place, he calls it an infinite creation sphere. Basically a really fancy simulator. Weapons are real and the ammo is real, so try not to shoot each other." Zion slowly opens the breech on his rifle, checking for a round. A .30 caliber bullet in a Winchester .300 magnum casing glimmered back at him, begging for a target. He was good to go. Without his Guille suit, he'd be a helluva lot easier to spot. This fact in mind, Peter concealed himself in a thicket of trees, using the shadows to blend with his dark clothing. Lying prone, Zion sighted in his weapon, adjusting for windage & elevation. The typical 160 grain load for a .300 magnum was perfect for living targets without body armor. Zion preferred the punch of the 230 grain load, which would put a hole roughly the size of a nickel in an inch of steel plate.

A patrolling pair of guards appeared on Zion's LOS near the outpost, through his scope. Peter's right index finger tightened on the first trigger of his weapon, then the second. With a muffled cough, a hollowpoint .300 WinMag streaked towards the first guard, catching him just under the right eye socket. The result was the removal of most of his head. Before the second could process his partner's head's disappearance, a second round struck him squarely in the throat, nearly decapitating him.

The integral flash/sound surpressor on his rifle allowed Zion to kill with relative silence, while a special magna-port on top of the barrel allowed him to use regular ammunition in lieu of sub-sonic ammo that packed less of a punch. The drawback was an open portal for dirt and grime into the delicate inner workings of his weapon, as well as emitting a small jet of flame when fired. Usually people aiming for the muzzle flare would shoot over his head, allowing him to locate them, which wasn't that much of a disadvantage.

Zion waited for the others to decide what to do. He'd do what he did best, which was kill from a long distance, unseen and unheard...

Where is that guy from Merc Soldiers...

"Damnit," Blaine cursed under his breath before flooring the buggy towards the outpost. Despite the unfamiliar handing of the vehicle he is able to manage not to flip it and/or run it into a tree. Parking it into a large thicket of brush he allready sees what has happened.

Perimeter guards down, looks like a clean path to the base. Doing once last quick glance at his armor's systems Blaine begins to make his way towards the base amiss the strewn dead that were the external guards. Reaching the main armored door he finds it is locked, rummaging through the closest dead he finds a small keycard.

Bingo, he thought as the door rolled slowly to the side, laying prone he prepares to fire at any hostiles the slowly openning door might reveal...

OOC: I never said anything about traveling a klick and a half in ten minutes. He's a f**kin' sniper, he doesn't have to be two feet in front of someone to kill them. A .300 magnum also has a long-ass range.

IC:

Reinforcements in a jeep rolled towards the outpost... Another muffled cough & a .30 caliber round was jammed into the first piston housing of the V6 engine on the lead jeep, causing a shutdown. Peter fired again, catching the lead soldier a quarter-inch below the sternum. He coughed once, then fell. His companions fired wildly around themselves, unsure of where the fire was coming from.

Zion put a round in the ear of the second jeep's driver, blowing a jet of redish-grey mist out the other side. The passenger fell with a shot to the heart, sending bits of bone outwards like a frag grenade. Another shot clipped a responding soldier across the jaw, tearing most of it off. Unfortunately, the clip on the WA-2000 was empty. Peter quickly ejected the spent magazine, slapping a fresh one in place. With a difinitive click of readyness, he worked the action. This time, he took more careful aim. The mortally wounded & disfigured soldier fell with a .30 caliber slug in his forehead, removing another part of his skull.

By now, the gunners where firing wildly. Zion split the lead jeep's ammo belt with a well-placed shot, ruining the action on the machine gun. For good measure, he shot the second gunner in the left knee, bowling him over like a pin at a pro bowling tournament.

'Strike...'

Peter smirked. Three bullets left in the clip. He'd leave the last standing gunner for some else. If he went for the other gun, Zion would shatter his shoulder blade with a shot placed an inch below the collar bone...

OOC: 500 yards, can do more but you start getting alot of bullet drop, for allready at 500 you got 34.4 inches to compensate for. Beside from the distance (which is still about a klick though unknown terrain) you're not just lying unarmoured on some hill or a tree praying the enemies spotters or snipers don't see you, no, you make your self some camo utilizing the natural enviorment (because I don't remember you doning any active camo suit). And doing all that within a 10 minute period is truely pushing it in my opinion even for the best trained soldier.

OOC-PS: Bit before Cyber's post time wise.

The metal door grinds its way accross the tracsk, sticking out his head oh so slightly Blaine spots the nest, Christ!, rolling with the door giving himself time to stand up only to watch an enemy buggy roll up and crash into the wall, the drivers shot quite messily, Yep, definatly that sniper.

"Someone take out that f---ing sniper! He's decimating us!" One of the simulated officers hollered.

The grenade's explosion cleared, leaving a gaping hole in the outpost's outer wall. A couple soldiers had been flung back by the explosion, and now lay there, stunned.

The sniper took the shot full on his chest, and flipped with the power of the round. He lay on his back on the roof, blood trickling out from his mouth to join the insidiously spreading pool soaking the concrete about his chest, an expression of pained suprise painted on his face.

OOC: Time for my-all-too-imfamous numbered points of ranting...

1. I never gave the amount of time it took Zion to get to his position.

2. I informed everyone that he has compensated for windage and elevation. A .300 magnum is known for cutting through the wind, a visible effect that I enjoy, as well as the recoil. I will admit that I haven't had Peter rebuild his position after each shot, as the heavy recoil does throw your aim significantly. With all the super-armor & mental powers going around here, I thought it a fair compromise.

3. The visible muzzle flare is vertical, making a confusing target. It is released from a magna-port on top of the barrel to allow for the useage of standard ammunition with an integral silencer/flash surpressor.

4. I stated that Zion isn't dressed for fieldwork, he's simply concealed himself in a tree thicket, where his dark colored clothing won't stand out as much. I suppose I could have had him throw some pine needles or something on himself, but he can't really vege out in a t-shirt & fatigue pants, there's really no place to stick anything. Cyberutopia never mentioned sniper cover or anything other than external sentries.

5. I'm not the one toting around a suit of f**kin' power armor.

6. I'm old, it's 1:30 in the morning, and I'm out of bourbon. I'm also sitting in front of a computer typing shit at some grad student halfway across the country. In other words, I'm not in the f**kin' mood for this shit.

Daedalis sighed as she saw the damn jeeps, she throw the grande in that direction, losing her focus, but hoping that the flash and the dust of the grenade could cover her as she tried to advance .

She left her cover as she approached the first jeep, running in a diagonal line to avoid direct and concentrated fire, until she arrive just to the front of the first advancing jeep...

Daedalis jumped and fired her carbine without aiming, with her eyes closed, using her mind to direct the bullets to the chests of the driver and the gunner. Her unnatural and inhuman elven agility helped her to jump other the first jeep and landed behind it, although the psychic directed bullets changed their direction and impacted right through the hearts of both simulated soldiers, killing them instantly. But she couldn't recovered for the impact against the ground fast enough, and rolled over the ground as the second jeep approached firing its gun.

Back to the wall he watches the other member of his party throwing daggers and shootin, he notices that a jeep still has a man alive on it, taking careful aim he fires and smiles wryly as he watches the bullet hit its mark, right across the mans throat severing and ripping. Joggin up to the jeep (only one has a hole in the engine block) he climbs in the driver's seat after shoving the obviously dead former driver out onto the packed dirt.

Hearing a thud he whips around, a second man, obviously slipping on the blood is standing up, reacting quickly he pulls back his right wrist forcing a blade out from the lower portion of the armor, before slamming it into the enemies throat, hearing the vertibre crack and break under the blade's force.

Watching for a few brief moments Blaine watches small a crimson river flow down the blade as the man's eyes slowly glaze over into a milky veil, pulling his blade free a few gurgles eminate from the now corpse.

Smiling slightly after that Blaine restarts the jeep, and lying low in the seat he brings it around so it faces the enterance of the outpost. Grabbing an ammo box in the back he drops it on the gas peedle before bailing out the left side. Watching with satisfaction he sees the well aliagned jeep rush the door. IC:

Zion lifted his eye from the rifle's scope, scanning the rolling plains around his small thicket for incoming re-inforcements or armor. Like a .357, a .300 could knock a hole in an engine block, but it was useless against heavy armor. He'd need an M85A1 or a Browning Light Fifty or something similar to deal with that kind of threat. Such rifles where large & messy when used on soft targets. A .300 was devastating enough to soft tissue, but the sheer kinetic force of a .50 hitting someone was rather disturbing...

On one unfortuate soul he missed, the bullet insteat of taking out his heart must have torn a hole in the aorta (sp) and the man died slower in agony from both the wound and the blood slowly crushing his heart and lung.

"Damn, missed." he chastised himself for missing. With most of the forces either dead or inside he ponders what to do, getting on his comm he does an all freq broad cast (no idea what you guys are working with), "Lets regroup and go from there, or at least set a comm freq then go from there..."

"I think you all know what you did wrong. The command structure fell to pieces, and you rushed off in fragmented groups. After that, you couldn't manage to put up an effective spearhead. You would never have gotten to the next section, the simulation had a crossfire prepared for you perfectly, and you would have stumbled right into it." He practically growled.
