The Socialist Republic of Xanthal is announcing its plans to send a task force of four Intrepid class ships, two Andromeda class ships, eight Sabre class ships, four Dreadnaught class ships, and one Super Dreadnaught class ship to the Relafia system immediately. They will be tasked with assessing the current status of New Xanthal and deciding whether the Socialist Republic must take any action to ensure that the situation does not turn against us. The task force will arrive within the hour, and all colonists of Relafia II as well as their New Arenamor Alliance friends will be expected to grant our ships peaceful and free passage through the system.

The Xanthalian task force enters the system at high sublight speed with all offensive and defensive systems operational. They fan out, poking around the system. A single Andromeda class and Dreadnaught class vessel head for Relafia II.

The battlecruiser is met by XAS-146, a Super Dreadnaught class tactical vessel. It halts in space and faces the criuser as the rest of the Xanthalian fleet continues by. It hails the offending craft.

The large ship uses its gravity manipulation system to simply push the cruiser out of the way and moves on towards the fourth planet.

OOC: im not trying to be all powerful here, but one of the nations did buy a huge navy, so if it seems i throw loads of ships here and godmod, im not :), the mothership is not stupid, lol, the base was made by the libertarians, then the member nations all donated a section of the vessel, all applying their best tech, im only throwing it in because its the only thing available that can deter the Xanthal Fleet.

A Sub-Space distortion, followed by an expanding orb of blue light, left the NRSS Gunstar in its place. Suddenly, upon the transmissions on every ship came the voice of High General Danav Re'Tan.

As a member of the alliance the Workers and Farmers of Belfast III offers passive resistance to the depredations of Xanthal. Our small ground based army, 10 000 strong, is highly trained and the few space capable ships we have will be used in Kamikaze type attacks against the agressor nation if it is such an agressor. Other than that Xanthalian ships will be allowed free passage through our region of space.

The probe kept the hyperspace window it had used to get to the system open. It was transmitting a message!

"This is High Admiral Nelson B. Clark of the Nanakaland Navy and Space Forces," said a voice broadcasting from the Crab Nebula. "I myself am not there because I am attending to other ... duties - yeah, duties. It is classified, but it affects the entire saftey of the universe from an alien race known as Stalkers. That's about all I can say. Oh yeah. I think that this is a tremendous overreaction on behalf of all of these nations involved."

Reading it would explain why he's broadcasting from the Crab Nebula, especially Page 8 (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2784666#2784666). That RP may soon overlap with this one if this turns into an interstellar war.]

The Xanthalian fleet continues its survey of the system and the Andromeda and Dreadnaught move into orbit of Relafia II. The Xanthalian craft all keep their weapons and shields online, but none of them make any aggressive moves.

AAS New Breseldenberg Broadcasts:
"Please, leave this system immeaditly, we are willing to negotiate terms for your commander to see the planet, but armed vessels in our space will not be tolerated!

XAS-146 replies to the message. "We came here to accomplish a task. We will leave when that task is accomplished. I suggest that you contact our government to set up an alternative arrangement if that is what you desire."

SCSS Gunstar, Transmission from Bridge

This is High General Danav Re'Tan, I will not leave this space. I see that these Xanthal forces are wise to keep ready, and I thank them for cooperation. However, to all other forces, we see fit to....leave weapons offline. Our Ionic Hull Plating is natural, thus this cannot be controled, it is just a reinforcement for the Titanium Hull. Anyway, we shall not interfer, yet if this war escalates beyond that of a Battle/Skirmish, then we shall attempt to stop again. We shall not have an Interstellar War, we shall only have this battle, and only this battle. Return to whatever you were doing, for we see fit to.....watch.

The SCSS Gunstar stops a few ways away from the battle area, weapons offline, watching for any signs of the battle turning into a Great War.

AAS New Breseldenberg Replies
"Withdraw all vessels to the edge of the system, then send your "observation teams" or whoever is seeing this independent planet.. on shuttle craft or transports, please do this, or we may open fire, as you are now within striking distance of major settlements..."

The SCSS Gunstar Sub-Spaced Out-of-System to prevent Hostilities. Before it left, it launched one Modified Buran Shuttle and two XSF-02 Star Sabre's as escorts.

This Observation team had no intention of joining this skirmish, just observing.

The Nanakan probe was unarmed, but it was also unmanned, so it stayed to observe, broadcasting details to the High Admiral.

The Xanthalian ships are halfway through the system now, passing the sun and surveying the planets on the far side. The Andromeda in orbit drops its shields and sends two small shuttles down to the surface at the location of the New Xanthalian settlement.

Arenumberg: "If you fire on our ships then we will be forced to defend ourselves. Initiating hostile action is not recommended."

OOC: This is the system layout, approved by Arenumberg. Note that I have switched the second and third planets, so the Dreadnaught and Andromeda are no orbiting Relafia III. Arenumberg, please post to confirm this.

--The Auxillary system flooded extra power into the main cannon.. as it fired a bolt of brilliant purple light into the Xanthalian Andromeda Vessel, causing damage to the shield, more than expected from a Cruiser Class Vessel--

"AAS New Breseldenberg to Xanthalian Vessels, you were warned, do we need to let our own cannons open fire? or do you wish to make a more peaceful agreement?"

OOC: I'll assume you're talking about the Andromeda that's not in orbit since that one dropped its shields.

IC: The Andromeda class immediately responds with two torpedos across the Eleman's bow and five phaser beams across its dorsal shields. The torpedos detonate harmlessly 500 meters from the Eleman, the phaser beams cause significant shield damage. The Andromeda doesn't even slow down, but continues on its way, still surveying the system. XAS-146 replies to the New Breseldenberg. "If you want to talk, talk to our government. Next time you fire at us you'll lose a lot more than shield power."

It appears like Xanthal was not the agressor in this instance.

A Gore Frigate has been dispatched to monitor the situation. Its orders are to stay neutral and to not fire until fired upon. It is commanded by Commander Foster.

Two Eclipse class vessels, five Super Dreadnaught class vessels, twenty Dreadnaught class vessels, and thirty Sabre class vessels have been dispatched to the edge of the Relafia system. They will join the Xanthalian ships already in the system in engaging the enemy if any further aggressive moves are made against Xanthalian vessels.

The crew on the Buran Modified Space Shuttle were sleeping, soundly, as were the two Star Sabre Escorts next to them, each with one pilot and each lightly settled on both of the Burans Wing. Indeed the USSNR trusted Nations, and this showed it. No high aggressive move has been made, and these observers were just that: Military Observers. As such, they could sleep, and be awakened either by the rising sun or otherwise.

The Xanthalian fleet arrives on the outskirts of Alliance territory, but halts just short of the border. They stay alert, ready to cross if their ships are fired upon again. Meanwhile, the Xanthalian fleet is almost finished with its survey. Vessels break off and head to rendezvous with their fleet on the border as they finish their task. The survey is completed in minutes and only the Andromeda and Dreadnaught in orbit remain along with four more Dreadnaughts and the Super Dreadnaught class XAS-146, all of which join the other two vessels in orbit of the third planet to deter any more enemy aggression. The rest of the Xanthalian fleet presence sits tickling the border, keeping a close eye on their ships. The Andromeda in orbit sends down three more shuttles as one of the first two returns to dock.

"AAS New Breseldenberg, to Xanthalian Vessels, We thank you for respecting our wishes of not entering our space, now if you will talk to us for a change without trying to be superior, we can end this peacefully"

"We are not a diplomatic fleet. This will be my last communique to you before we stop responding to your messages. If you want to make a deal talk to the Xanthalian government, not us. XAS-146 out."

"Stuttgart Station to all available vessels, please return to normal duty, AAS New Breseldenberg, stay and maintain observation, Envoy Vessel, Contact the Xanthal"

It takes about fifteen minutes, but the Envoy vessel eventually gets into contact with the Dictator of Xanthal. His image flickers onto the viewscreen. He is a strongly-built middle-aged Xanthalian male wearing the official uniform of a Xanthalian Dictator. He is sitting with his hands folded in front of him at his office on the top floor of Xanthalian Government Headquarters in downtown New Krytan on Aellis V. Behind him a giant window affords a view of the bustling metropolis beyond. He speaks in the voice of a leader, strong but not harsh. He has an accent that sounds almost Russian. "Greetings. I am Vladimir Museveni, Dictator of the Socialist Republic of Xanthal. With whom am I speaking?"

"Envoy René Gerschwitz, Call me René Please, we are civilized after all, Now, on this subject of armed vessels, entering someones space, youll do that one day and end up without a fleet, but on other matters, peace is always better than war, So, what do you say Mr Museveni?"

"I say that it sounds as if you underestinmate our fleet. I really hope that you did not call me to threaten me. If you want peace it will not be solely on your terms. Even with your alliance friends you are still no match for us. Recall that it was your people who made this a hostile situation. You fired the first shot. Now, I did not intend to fight you from the beginning, and I do not intend to fight you now. However, if you keep up the negotiating tactics you've been using so far, I will see every last one of your nations under the fist of the Republic. We will not tolerate a hostile neighbor, and we will eliminate you before you become a threat to us if need be. So, René; what exactly would this peace you suggest entail? A treaty? An alliance? I agree, something must be worked out if we are to both walk away from this situation unharmed."

"Dear Sir.. i was not making a threat, i do not under-estimate your navy, i was merely saying you may one day cruise into someones space like you have, and be destroyed by powers far greater than our own, And if i may say you were asked repeatedly to leave Kindly, but yes, i beleive it will work better for all of us under the banner of allies, but, how does your teams work on the surface go?"

Xanthal your ship looks alot like the Nemesis Ship on the most
recent Star Trek Movie.

"Well. It does not appear that we will have to intervene in the affairs of our comrades in New Xanthal for the time being. We are currently exchanging data and ambassadors with their leaders. Since it seems to bother you so much, I'll see that our ships return to Xanthalian space as soon as our task is done on Relafia III. Now, about this alliance. What kind of deal do you want to make with us? A direct military agreement, or something more conservative?"

"Send me a private message, these channels are to easy to intercept.."

"Request denied. Xanthal does not hide its intentions from the international community. If I wanted to make this transmission secret I wouldn't be broadcasting on an open and unencrypted channel. Speak your piece for the galaxy to hear or not at all."

OOC: Xanthal's government hides almost nothing, and doesn't even keep sealed records. It is based on giving full and truthful information to all interested parties. Of course, the Ministry of Intelligence is the exception to those rules. When it comes to diplomatic talks though, Xanthal will record everything and place it on record for all to see.

The probe intercepted enough of the talk to see that the situation was under control. It hyperspaced back to the Crab Nebula, returning to the Admiral Fleet.

"Xanthal, we would like an alliance, that is all, we will let you dictate terms"

"Xanthal? Heh. This isn't Shakespeare, you needn't refer to me as my nation. Very well, you want an alliance? Fine. I'll get back to you in a few hours."

A substantial amount of time passes before the dictator reactivates the transmission. "I and the International Affairs people have put together something for you. It's up to you whether to sign it or not. Transmitting the document now..."

The treaty comes through as a text file, reading as follows:

Treaty of Aranamor:
Article one: This treaty is valid once signed and agreed upon by official authorized parties from Xanthal, New Xanthal, and a representative of the New Aranamor Alliance.
Article two: Once validated, Xanthal, New Xanthal, and the New Aranamor Alliance governments, as well as the governments of all nations within the New Aranamor Alliance, are bound by internal and international law to abide by the terms and conditions herein.
Article three: The governments of Xanthal and the New Aranamor Alliance will cooperate on issues of security and safety.
Article four: New Xanthal shall be officially acknowledged and treated by all parties as an independent nation with full rights thereof.
Article five: Free trade shall be allowed to occur unhindered (as defined by the laws of each respective trading nation) between all parties, and all non-military vessels of Xanthalian, New Xanthalian, or New Aranamor Alliance member origin shall be allowed passage through the space of all signing parties.
Article six: Citizens and property of signing nations and New Aranamor Alliance members are to be considered fully under the jurisdiction of whatever nation they are travelling in and subject to all the laws and penalties in that nation.
Article seven: Article six is void in situations where law demands a penalty on the nation of origin's government.
Article eight: Neither Xanthal, New Xanthal, nor any member of the New Aranamor Alliance or the New Aranamor Alliance as a collective body shall initiate a military conflict with the other entities mentioned herein under any circumstances.
Article nine: Diplomatic ties between all nations involved in this treaty shall be formally established according to the laws of each nation to ensure ease of communication.
Article ten: Military vessels from Xanthal, New Xanthal, or a New Aranamor Alliance member must formally request permission to cross one another's borders, except in the case of New Aranamor Alliance members, which may cross each others' borders freely.
Article eleven: All armed vessels of Xanthalian, New Xanthalian, or New Aranamor Alliance organization/member origin must have their weapons deactivated at all times while in the territory of other nations of this treaty, except in cases of self-defense.
Article twelve: Xanthal and the New Aranamor Alliance are required to aid one another in military engagements at the request of the engaged party's government provided that the party to be assisted did not instigate the conflict.
Article thirteen: This treaty may be edited with the consent of official authorized parties from Xanthal, New Xanthal, and a representative of the New Aranamor Alliance.
Article fourteen: This treaty is dissolved when and if the governing body of one or more nations involved formally invalidates the document unless said governing body is a New Aranamor Alliance member, in which case this treaty is dissolved if that member is not ejected within one week.

"Signed. Pleasure doing business with you. Our fleet is finished in the Relafia system, so it will be departing shortly. Good day."

A few minutes later the Andromeda in orbit of Relafia III retrieves its last shuttle and departs with its Dreadnaught and Super Dreadnaught escorts, rejoining the rest of the fleet at the border. Together the Xanthalian ships come about and head back to Xanthalian space at low FTL speed.

The president of New Xanthal has signed the Treaty of Aranamor, making the document official and validated.
