Based on the spaceframe of the Masada Space Fortress but constructed with Xanthalian technology the newest ship class to be built by Xanthal, the Excursion class, will feature a completely different set of systems and design than the station whos frame it borrows from. The Excursion class will be the second largest ship in the Xanthalian fleet, measuring forty kilometers in length and ten kilometers in width and height. It will be designed with the use of virtually every non-combat Xanthalian technology, and outfitted with a strong weapons and defensive complement as well. Current plans call for it to have at least eight internal docking bays for other Xanthalian starships that it can launch independently and to accomodate around ten thousand crew. The vessel class will have only one or two ships to its name in the near future, and will be used for the purpose of independant and unsupported exploration of other galaxies. Specific plans are still sketchy, but the Xanthalian Armada expects to begin work on its first Excursion class starship within the next five years. Further details are expected to be released very soon.

Preliminary design for the Excursion class has been approved across the board. The ship's official specifications will be released presently.

The Excursion class is a ship primarily designed to explore far from Xanthalian space on its own. It has exceptionally strong defensive ability and carries all manner of crew and systems aboard, enabling it to function much like an independent Xanthalian government and deal with any new situations or species it encounters along its way. It carries sixteen other starships internally, along with shuttles and slipfighters. This is the most able and advanced starship in the Xanthalian fleet.
