Duke Daniel II adresses the nations of the world
Tavast-Carelia

Greetings, honored rulers and ruling bodies of the world's nations, from his highness Duke Daniel II of Tavast-Carelia.
For the last several decades, the Grand Duchy of Tavast-Carelia was cut off from the rest of the world under the brutal rule of Duke Juhana IX. His death in last December led to the ascent to throne of the new Duke.
Our country lies in shambles. Juhana IX's rule concentrated on his own wellbeing, and the military might of our country. Our current Duke wishes things to be different. Economical and political re-forms are underway. Carrying these out alone, with the resources of our own nation, would be nearly impossible. Hence we plea the more developed nations of the world for help in organising the first free elections in T-C for nearly a hundred years, as well as for aid in improving our economical situation.
We hope the nations of the world will react in kind to our plea.
Duke Daniel II,
ruler over Tavast-Carelia

Elections are a waste of time. The powerful gravitate towards positions of power. Always have, always will.
Arman Grimwald
Lord of Foreign Relations
As the humble representative of the people of Dhena, I feel I should offer another perspective on the matter at hand.
Many countries struggle with weak economies and other political concerns. To allow free elections in a state where there exist no such tradition, can cause far more dire problems than beneficial results.
Surely, as a loving and responsible leader, You must realise that the People must come first. And as most people are naught better than children when it comes to large-scale political matters, it is by far better to leave all political decisions to those who already benevolently direct the course of a state.
I fear that free elections will yield nothing but anarchy and a public failure of morale. Better to lead the People with a firm but loving hand!
Greetings to you and may I offer you our support in these difficult times. The people of Yorumestan will help in any way it is possible, in order to ward off the threat of capitalist hegemony.
Elections should be approached with caution at this stage, perhaps limited freedoms to begin with, expanding to total liberalisation in the coming years and months, once your people become more accustomed to the notion of Democracy.
If any assistance is required please do not hesitate to advise what we can do.

The national and internation press have gathered in the old throne room. Chairs have been set up on the floor. The journalists are murmuring between themselves as they wait for the Duke to enter the room.
A lackey walks up to the throne, and announces: "His excellency, Duke Daniel II of Tavast-Carelia!"
The press falls silent as the Duke walks to the throne and seats himself.
"I presume you wish to hear what we have decided to do about the power shortages the nation has been experiencing of the late?" the Duke asks, good-humouredly, arising nodds from the press. In a more official tone, the Duke continues: "Today, the temporary ruling council of Tavast-Carelia made the decision to bring all power plants, the companies that own them, and all telecommunication companies, under state control. Most of these companies were owned by people who served my father, who have now fled the country fearing action for their evil deeds. Under the circumstances, the best solution is that the state will control the production of power, ensuring the distribution of heat and electricity in these cold winter months."
"You excellenvy, will this be a continuous state of affairs, or will the power companies be re-privatized after the crises have passed?"
"That will be up to the parliament to decide, after it has been elected."
"When will the parliament be elected? Has there been any response from foreign nations?"
"We have recieved offers of help from foreign nations. Most of them have adviced us to approach elections with caution, as the people of our nation are not used to the idea of democracy. We have yet to reach a decision in this matter, but it is possible that at first the parliament will share power with the ruling council. In any case, we hope to hold the elections in may at the latest... any more questions?"
The Roman Empire would like to help set up the first elections. Since it is only in recent history where the Emperorship of RomeW became elected, we feel we can offer some expertise in creating viable elections.

We would greatly appriciate all help RomeW could offer us. We are hoping to hold the first elections during the next two months, and would very much appriciate it if you could send experts to advice and oversee the elections.
Consider them sent. As a relatively new and thriving democracy we are more than happy to help other nations set up their own.
Captain Imsh olk Mertek is leading a group of missionaries and peacekeepers into Tavast-Carelia, they will be bringing food to give to the people, however their cargo will not go under inspection.

Illnevel:We cannot allow any gargo to be brought within the borders of our nation without it being inspected first.
RomeW: We are grateful for your assistance in our attempt to create a democratic system.
Since our nations are already cooperating in this matter, could I be bold enough to suggest forming closer ties between our nations? Obviously this will depend on the decision of the yet-to-be-formed parliament, but we could begin diplomatic talks concerning cooperation on trade and possibly other matters.
We can most definitely form closer ties to each other. The Roman Empire is always interested in forming new alliances.
