Today, upon returning from his vacation, the Secretary General found the Vice Minister of Defense up to no good.
Upon hearing of the VM's actions toward Whittier's ally, West Moon, Secretary General Brezhnekov III fired the Vice Minister of Defense and then placed on unpaid leave the nations Minister of Defense.
The Ministery of Defense has no authority to call emergency sessions of government with out the consent of the Secretary General, unless the nation faces imminanent military attack.
The Ministry's actions under the VM's management would have precipitated severe damage to Whittier's international reputation and may have precipitated a nuclear exchange between earth and the moon.
It is the official position of Whitttier's leadership, that affairs of West Moon are just that. Whittier will not interfere and encourages West Moon's move toward free and open elections.
The nation's Justice Minister is currently investigating whether to imprison the former VM on charges of treason, disobeying a lawful directive, and endangering the national interests of Whittier.
