The Centuri Station Starts construction on two new ships

17-02-2004, 03:01
after several months of conceptual design research in new construction styles and methods, the Leader of the project Jessica Or'lean is proud to announce the construction of two new ships, The Andriango Maru a Valinteen class Carrier and the Manhattan class Yugata Maru

The Andriango Maru is scheduled for completion in 2 years (end of the month) then which the yugata Maru will begin construction which will take 4 years to complete (end of the next month)

both ships will eb built at the stations built-in ship yard in which when they grow to large to be housed there they will continue constrution in free orbit around a moon not far from the station.

(stats are subject to change)

Class- Carrier Valinteen class
Andriango Maru
Captain- Hilary Taylor
Demensions
Length- 350 meters
Width- 189 meters
Height- 68 meters
Hull
Armor- 6 meters of titanium composite followed by half a meter of missile blast absorbers
Decks – 34
Shielding – Magnetic repulsion skin system
The MRSS creates a magnetic field (all equipment is calibrated to adjust for this) or skin around the ship 1 meter in thickness, when a solid metallic object of energy hits the ship the MRSS repulses the object causing it to slow down minimizing the damage to the hull and the inhabitants (we haven’t create true shield technology yet)
- XR 75 Missile destruction flak AKA “cannon fodder”
The XR 75 is a series of small cannons (half a meter in width), which propels tiny pieces of metal and other objects into the perimeter of the ship causing inbound missiles to hit and be destroyed or damaged as they collide with the pieces.
Weaponry
- 14 (7 per side) side mounted Vulcan Missile racks (8 missiles in each rack)
- 27 Point fighter and ballistic missile defense lasers
- 5 heavy ion laser cannons (front mounted)
- 9 rapid-fire laser platform (R.F.L.P.)
- 4 Plasma laser (back mounted)
- 5 Point to point Laser batteries (bottom mounted)
- 3 Plasma Mortars (left-side mounted)
Top speed- 78 c
Ion Drive (soon to be Hyperdrive)
Fighter capacity- 367 Interceptors
182 Bombers
38 Repair ships
Crew- 1200
16 command
120 security
200 Engineers (including fighter technicians)
100 reserves
177 weapons control

Yugata Maru – Manhattan class
Captain-Elisa Marbec
Demensions
Length - 249 Meters
Width - 96 Meters
Height – 42 Meters
Hull
Armor- 3 meters or titanium composite, half a meter or missile shock absorbers, 1 meter of quick dry gel (freezes over small holes/cracks quickly depending on size)
Decks – 23
Shielding - Magnetic repulsion skin system
XR 75 Missile destruction flak AKA “cannon fodder”
Weaponry

- 7 Plasma Mortars (right side mounted)
- 12 Point to Point laser batteries
- 6 plasma Lasers (front mounted)
- 13 rapid-fire laser platform (R.F.L.P.)
- 8 Vulcan Missile racks (bottom mounted)
- 16 Point fighter and ballistic missile defense lasers
- 9 heavy ion laser cannons (3 front mounted 6 back mounted)
Top speed- 77 c
Ion Drive (soon to be Hyperdrive)
Fighter Compliment – 0
Crew – 265
16 command
62 security
112 Engineers
43 weapons control
32 reserves

Interesting project...
Will they come to mass production and export ?
17-02-2004, 03:14
that has yet to be decide but we will likely build them for nation use then should there be a surplus we will bring to the market

Just wondering how you figured dimensions for these ships. You have 34 and 23 decks respectively, yet the hegits of the ships are only 68 and 42 meters respectively. Doing some quick math, that cpomes out to only 2 meters of head room per deck - and thats before adding in deck plating thicknesses, equipment room, outer armor, etc etc. I think you need to refigure the dimensions of your ship, just a suggestion.

yea I sorta just made the number of decks off the top of my head (:P) any suggestions for a better number?

Well, first I'd run a few proportionality measurements. For example, the first ship doesn't look half as wide as it is long - more like a quarter as wide. Thus, you figure out a base unit of measure (in this case, length), then figure out the rest of the dimensions. Then you take the figured height, subtract armor 2x (top and bottom armor), and then divide by the height per deck (I use 3.2 m personally - accounting for deck plating and between decks space). This will give you a working number of decks.

On a different note, I use some HW2 stuff myself, but I don't recognize the second ship. What is it?

I think it's concept art of the BC I dunno
