Vernii

The immense planetoid hung in stationary orbit over Vernii, a silver colored five kilometer diameter sphere. Small shuttles darted about, carrying crew and missiles to it. A few hundred kilometers away, Bastion, Gregor Defence Command, sat silent in its orbit over the capital. Home Fleet was also nearby, arrayed in wall formation, and ready for battle in the event of interruptions. The presidential yacht, Corona, drifted by lazily, full of high ranking government officials and Gregor Corporation executives.

The bridge crew of Apollyon snapped to attention as Rear Admiral Schoeber stepped off the liftcar into it. "At ease men. As you undoubtably know, this is a very important event, especially after the beating our navy took in the recent war. So don't screw up, and back to your stations."
Schoeber took his seat as reports filled the air around him.
"Graser batteries online. Laser batteries online, missile tubes ready for launch. Fold drive coming online."
"Navigational coordinates inputted."
"Activated Fold Generator One."
The planetoid began vibrating, and bulkheads of the bridge seemed to bulge with energy, and everything took on a reddish tinge. Outside of the planetoid, colorful gashes in space ripped open, and the Apollyon vanished.

Several light years away, in the Klein system, the planetoid reappeared. The Klein fleet base immediately transmitted it's congratulations, and the defence fortress fired off a salute. Schoeber activated a ship-wide com, "We have now successfully tested the Takan fold drive. Well done men." He closed the link, "Prepare to activate Generator Two."

A few seconds later, the Apollyon reappeared with a flash of light back in orbit over Vernii. A chain of graser fire rippled out from bastion in salute, followed by the other orbital fortresses and Home Fleet.
Schoeber finished his report to President Calimar and Fleet Admiral Harris with, "Apollyon is now fully operational."
