Hi! Dr Nemur says i shood tell you my story. He's nice, so i said okay.

My name's Tarantula, just like my sisters and bruthers. The wuns i didnt eat, that is. It makes things easy when everywun has the same name. And it confuses peple from other countries. See? See how evil we are?

Little Muss Muffet came to visit today. She's cute! I like her hair, it is pretty. She brot some nice spiders for us to play with. But i dont think they are evil like us. And something about a white bunny rabbit. I didnt understand that part at all. I wanted to eat the bunny, but Dr Nemur said no. He said it was a special smart white rabbit. He said he did something to make it smart. He said he was going to make me smart too. Smarter than any silly bunny cood ever be!

We played some football with Little Miss Muffet's pet spiders. It was fun! Tarantula played really good! I like Little Miss Muffet, so i let her score. It made her so happy, she did a little dance.

I hope wun day Little Miss Muffet mite dance with me. She'd like the Tarantula shuffle. I picked some flowers and gave the stems to her. They are the best part! Hey, is that a pig? Excoose me, i'm hungry.

In the first outing of the new season, the Test Subjects Lose to upstarts Espario 2-1

Farela Black Widowmakers produced a slightly surprising result on the first day of the new campaign, winning 1-0 against last season's disappointments Shelobs Obsession on their GESFL debut.

The game was largely dominated by defensive stalemate, and there was little sign of a goal in the first half thanks to the all-conquering presence of the two goalkeepers, who - with eight flexible limbs to save with - were always going to be in control against the weak shooting illustrated early on. The goal came on 67 minutes, when one of the Wizards sunk a foreign type of poison into the bloodstream of a Widowmakers attacker. He had to be substituted, and his replacement scored from the free-kick thanks to a heavy deflection. The final 20 minutes was dominated by a series of acrobatic saves from both goalkeepers, including one that saw the Black Widowmakers goalkeeper save one shot with one limb and then somehow save the rebound with another one.

Well, our little football league is plugging away at it's fourth season! Here in Little Miss Muffet we're really enjoying out Giant Evil Spider Footballers - and yours, when they come to visit!

Our very own Muffeteers are doing quite well. With a win over the Tanah Tarantula Tarantulas, a loss to newspiders Lovisa's Rafaelburg Cancers, and now a draw wtih Warnocks Wizards Shelobs Obsession, the Muffeteers are near the top of the chart with 4 points!

We just love 'em!

Hon Bun reminds me (between terrified exclamations) to welcome the newspiders to the Giant Evil Football League. As usual, he's right - what a smart little, bright little bunny he is!

We do want to welcome the Giant Evil Spider Warriors of Espario, the Black Widowmakers of Kaze Progressa, and the Rafaelburg Cancers of Lovisa, to our little league. We're not big (well - I guess the spiders are - after all, we're the Giant Evil Spider Football League), but we do have fun.

Just a reminder. To the "tasty" human handlers - remember to keep your charges muzzled unless on the pitch or practice field. To the independent Spider managers - remember that puny humans may be tasty, but their relatives tend to get miffed when they're eaten.

Well...at least try to limit the "snacking" as much as possible. We know how difficult it can be, and frankly there are some "puny humans" we'd be...well, honestly...better off without.

Oh! I didn't say that, did I? I simply must curb my tongue! Sometimes...er, Hon Bun just suggested...well, to quote him, "Your Eliquentish eep! Verbosity, it would be better ack! better if you simply didn't say erk! say everthing you thought."

I'm sure he's right, but we're among friends! What's the harm?

I am satisfied with the performance of my Warriors to date. The defeat of
the champions Edenstein was quite pleasing. However, these draws are
not good enough. We are not at the top of the table. Since we have a
week off, I declare that all my Warriors shall undergo intensive 24 hour
training during that time. If we do not win our next match, legs shall fall.

After their fine victory over Shelobs Obsession, Farela Black Widowmakers have struggled to produce any kind of form. Their latest 2-1 defeat to Tarantulas came as no surprise to most fans; the only other point in the last four games for the Progressan spiders was against fellow newcomers Rafaelburg Cancers.

'They can only juggle with three legs, they lack pace, poison power... in short, they haven't mutated into fearsome footballers yet,' said one analyst in the Arachnid Times. The spiders may give up on football yet and invade The Belmore Family, the border of which is only 50km from Farela.

We're just about halfway through the qualifiers, and it's been a very exciting tourmanent so far! Giant Evil Spiders on the pitch, chasing each other and the ball! Headlong crashes! Legs getting entwined, down they go! Snapping mandibles! It's been real web-slingin' fast action football!

Oh...Hon bun reminds me that once in a while someone gets a goal.

We are amazed, astounded, and greatly pleased to learn that our fellow monarch, Empress Petra of Espario, is pregnant! How wonderful! Please do keep us informed.

Now, about the missing security guards. We found blood, webbing, spider drool, bits of clothing, two badges and a shoe. We'd hate to think a visiting side decided to snack on our security guards. We'd like it even less if we found out the Muffeteers couldn't help themselves from helping themselves to a puny human snack. So...we ask that each Football Association in the Giant Evil Spider Football League conduct an internal investigation to determine what might be known about the plight of our twelve missing security guards. And then tell us you don't know what happened to them.

Hon bun insists I reiterate that with emphasis, so here goes: Then tell us you don't know anything about what happened to them.

If that isn't clear, please call my lovely little, terrified little, horrified little rabbit and he will explain it in detail.

We're almost embarrassed that our Muffeteers are in first place! Almost - not quite. After all, somebody has to be in first place - why not us?

We did have a bit of a tough time this last match with Shelob's Obsession. They actually got out there and played football against us. For some reason, they weren't distracted by the thousands of tasty puny humans attending the match. Usually, the visiting side here in Little Miss Muffet can hardly draw their attention away from the crowd, and that allows our Muffeteers to...say, you don't suppose...?

Never mind.

I leave on a business trip Sunday March 14, and will be unable to access NationStates for a week. This schedule gives me Saturday March 13 as a day to "catch up" if anything causes the schedule to slip, and still finish GESFL Season 4 before I leave.

Warnocks Wizards will host Little Miss Muffet for the Third Place Match

Espario will host Kaze Progressa in The Finals

After a glorious and totally unexpected run to the final, boosted by the power of Ellie - the arachnid equivalent of Margaret - the luck ran out for the Black Widowmakers as they lost the final 3-1 to the Giant Evil Spider Warriors, who stormed to a three-goal first-half lead before two spiders were sent off for using an illegal dose of poison (one used 100mg of poison on a single opponent, the maximum being 75mg). While the Farela-based side soon got a goal back against nine spiders, those nine defended well to prevent any more of a comeback.

The very fact both sides made the final - the Muffeteers, in fact, were the only ranked side in the last four - proved to most neutral observers that either the formula was human, or indeed sub-human (it was believed to be a variation on the 'compressed' theme dumped after Human World Cup 6) or that there is little to choose between the laboratories who mutate the players.

ooc: same formula used by Dire Arachnia in GESFL Season 2. It was modified in GESFL Season 3 to provide more advantage based on rank. It was re-modified for GESFL Season 4 to split the difference on rank advantage between that of Season 2 and that of Season 3.

It is, after all is said and done, still random numbers. :wink:

OOC: I'd suggest moving back to the season 3 formula, but after what's happened with WC12 (hello SN38 and Ravenspire :D) that makes me a hypocrite. Especially as I'll now be ranked 2 for season 5 :)
