World champions the KOR3A Blues will be returning to defend our title. (Even if our kit is rather turquoise. :D)

KOR3A will also put in a hosting bid for this year's NSHWC. We would be happy to have a co-hosting bid from any active roleplayer in the last NSHWC. Please send us a telegram or post to this thread if you would like to bid with KOR3A.

Will we continue the tradition of making the sign-up thread the roster thread?

Last but not least, KOR3A informally proposes that we return to the old-style one match finals. Many other sports have this arrangement and we feel it keeps the tournament moving better than the new extended three-match finals. It seemed to KOR3A that people's attentions strayed from NSHWC during the longer finals last season.

KOR3A, NEWI Cefn Druids Announce Handball Co-Bid
#1 and #5 Ranked Teams Want to Host NSHWC
KOR3A -- KOR3AN finance minister O-Ren Ishii announced today a KOR3A-NEWI Cefn Druids co-bid for the hosting of the NationStates Handball World Championships. "We believe this partnership between our nations can create the best World Championships yet seen," said Ishii. "KOR3A's handball arenas are beyond compare, and the NEWI Cefn Druids boast world-class sporting facilities of their own. We want to run this for the benefit of the fans!" It is expected that the Blues-Griffins bid will be very attractive to championship organizers. The details of the bid package include the semi-finals being played in KOR3A, and the finals being played in NEWI Cefn Druids. Group play will be divided between the two nations; the group draws would be conducted after tournament registration has been completed.

Officials from KOR3A and NEWI Cefn Druids collected together in KOR3A yesterday to launch a joint bid to become hosts for the Handball World Cup. The KOR3AN Sports Minister O-Ren Iishi and his Druid counterpart Trevor Brookley were the main players in getting the bid together. “The KOR3AN government are eager to put on a good show, and so are we.” Brookley told us after the launch. “Hopefully, it will help put the memories of our last major sporting event, the Shoe Flinging World Cup. Apart from the fact that no other nations participated, three spectators were injured when they were struck by shoes because they were stood too close to the field. Hopefully, this won’t put the judging committee of f our bid.”

Also in attendance were officials from the respective handball associations and team members. In an interview with us, goalkeeper Trevor Johnson said, “I would love the opportunity to play in front of my own fans. It will give us a boost and hopefully we’ll be able to break into the top four.”

The bid currently faces opposition only from a solo Lovisan bid, and will be held in arenas across the two nations, with the semi-finals in KOR3A and the finals in NEWI Cefn Druids. Rumours are rife that the final could even take place in the new Druid national stadium, The Hole, which would have its turf covered over with the handball playing surface and the retractable roof closed. Other likely locations in NEWI Cefn Druids could be Dave’s Den in Dave, the ChemindusArena in Graymouth and The Viaduct in Cefn.

This tournament is, sadly, full. We already have the 12 teams. However, we welcome you to the fifth HBWC, which is most likely to start in two weeks - watch the forums :)
