Supreme Commander of Armed Forces objects to entry into the CACE

Today at 9 am the Commander of the Svea Rigan Armed Forces together with the minister of Defense and their advisors gave a short press-conference regarding the sudden entry into the CACE. The Defense minister Mr. Lundahl and General Lars-Göran Rödin were both deeply shocked when they heard that a vote for entry into the CACE was passed especially when there wasn’t a 100% support within the government it’s hard to believe that any of the 2 parties against the entry would have changed their mind so quickly without something in return from government.

Journalists from all over the world is invited to the. The meeting is held in a newly built warehouse in Stock Holm where a couple of tables and a few hundred chairs have been set up. The warehouse is heavily lighted and armed soldiers patrol the catwalks that hang from the roof. Cameras are not allowed inside the warehouse and are confiscated at entry. Tape recorders are allowed but checked at entry.

“First of all ladies and gentlemen I’d like to clear some things out before we begin. This conference is not supported by the current government in Svea Riga nor is it officially known by the government. We do not speak for the government but rather for the people, the proletarians, the workers and the millions of people who has been slaving for their bread unlike the fat cats in the government who like leeches sucks the system dry!”

A man stands up and interrupts the General. “But sir, Mr. Lundahl is the minister of defense and thereby a member of the government. Is he not a leech like the rest of you… erm I mean them?”

“I’ll take this” says Mr. Lundahl and makes a stop sign with his hand.
“Sir, before I left Stock Holm yesterday evening I left a memo for the President Carl-Magnus Rödin saying that I hereby resign as the minister of defense in Svea Riga to join the USSRR (ooc: United Socialist Svea Rigan Republic) party and taking the place as their leader”

The same man stands up “But who is in control of the army now when you’ve resigned?”

Mr. Lundahl turn to the general. “That would be General Lars-Göran Rödin, but I fail to see how this question is relevant at all. I assure you that the armed forces are in good hands”

“But what body does those hands work for Mr. Lundahl? The government body? The opposition body? And do those hands control every general in the army? What about the 4 riders have you located them yet?” – The same man asks before he sits down.

Lundahl looks a bit surprised. “The army is in good hands I assure you!”.
“If our own journalists are done are there perhaps any other questions?”

"Dave Wilson, Glasburgh Herald, Celdonia. Would you care to say exactly why you object to Svea Riga joining CACE?"

"Yes I would care so say that Mr" *checks a list of people invited*
"Mr. Wilson. The government in Svea Riga have broken against the constitution in a way we hardly can find acceptable, they have bribed and threatened their coalition partner into voting for the proposal when they infact were against. We're also against the sudden rush into CACE which we see as a cowardly attempt to gain more support and increase the power of the president. We also object to the fact that there never was a public voting, there was 180 people deciding the fate of more than 2 billion ordinary citizens. You do the math Mr. Wilson"

"Irene Harris, Weegie Star. Do you have any major dislike of the CACE itself, or is it merely that you are opposed to the way the application was carried out?"

"Irene Harris, Weegie Star. Do you have any major dislike of the CACE itself, or is it merely that you are opposed to the way the application was carried out?"

"Yes as a minister appointed by the coalition partner (S) (ooc: social democrats) I am against such an organisation as I don't think it would benefit us to join it. When we agreed to create a coalition with SFP one of our demands were that we would wait 2 years with a vote for the CACE and it would only be performed if more than 60 % of the Parliament wanted it to be performed. We should not come dragging with our problems to our neighbours and expect them to fix it. Right now there are two major problems in Svea Riga. The first one is the Prime Minister Kim Bushek Rathsman, being corrupt and blackmailed. He posses a real threat to Svea Riga and should be removed. The other problem is the President himself Carl-Magnus Rödin. He's broken the coalition agreement and can not expect the (S) support for much longer. We within the USSRR will demand a new vote for President with me as their candidate"

"Pat the Llama, Lassic News Service, Mr. Lundahl if indeed elections are held and you are elected President, will you renounce membership of CACE and what might be the consequences of backing out?"

'Willem Innison, Cascade Independant, why are you opposed to membership in the CACE, specifically?'

"The public hasn't voted to join the CACE as it says in the constitution. 'An act that changes the way the nation is controlled, or an act that changes military and/or economical settings should be set by public voting'"

"Pat the Llama, Lassic News Service, Mr. Lundahl if indeed elections are held and you are elected President, will you renounce membership of CACE and what might be the consequences of backing out?"?'

"Well there are no elections planned at the moment, and unless 'S' withdraws from FSP and there's a new election called. If I win, I would not resign from CACE, but rather have a public election about it. When more than 60% of the people votes on parties that doesn't want to enter CACE and we still there's something wrong.

ooc: too easy. And this is merely one of those 'disagreements' like those Stalin staged. Let it die out I say... only CACE people responding anyways

Mr. Lama elbows another reporter that was about to speak and asks " So, you're saying that since the constituition states that major policy must be voted on by the people that Svea Riga is technically NOT a member of CACE?"

"That is a very delicate question Mr. Lama. As far as I can see, we're neither. The government has exceded its boundries and we will fight for a new election, both governmental and CACE"

While waiting for a new question a man stands up and turns up the volume on his portable radio.
”Oh my f*cking god listen to this everybody”

”We interrupt todays ordinary program for a special news!.
Today at 9.30 am the Prime Minister of Svea Riga Kim Bushek Rathsman was found dead in his bed in his suite at the Grand Hotel in Stock Holm. The police sealed the entire block of and called in the 1st Armor Squad and the 3rd Infantry division positioned outside Svea Riga to help seal the block of. The cause of the death to the merely 49 year old Prime Minister is not yet totally known but the forensic detectives have the room in the hotel totally shielded from the outside world. The deceased PM had set a meeting with Defense Minister Daniel Lundahl earlier that day, Mr. Lundahl has not been found to comment the meeting. We will continue to keep the people informed about the situation.”

Pat the Llama sensing perhaps another Pulitzer Prize jumps right on it, asking the tough questions "Mr. Lundahl , in light of the Prime Minister's death did you or anyone in the USSRR have anything to do with it? It would seem to benefit the USSRR the most!"

They don't seem very chocked when they hear the news or when the Ilek-Vaad reporter asks the question.
Lundahl stretches towards General Lars-Göran Rödin and they whisper to eachother for a couple of seconds.
"Neither I nor Mr. Rödin wants to comment the death of the PM before we're more further informed about the situation. I can tell you that we're both deeply sorry for the death and that it causes further destabilisation in the government, now when the leader of (S) have fallen, who knows how his replacer will act in the coalition issue?"

"We watch the WBO and SATO be potential enemies to us and our non-tolerence policy still stands against them. But we got nothing against a defense organisation like the BDI. We have lost the contact with our once allied nation Ruhr and if there's an election which takes a positiv turn I will gladly take up those talks"
