OOC: Please note, this whole post is ONLY for your OOC knowledge. None of this you “know” IC. This is just OOC information that is classified (this is part of the space-tech RP)

Open RP! There's only one IC post of mine, which starts this RP. Please read all my OOC, Classified, and IC posts reguarding this issue before posting. Thanks!

This was posted about a month ago, but accidentally in wrong forum (General) So, I've decided to post this here, after monitors never moved it upon requests to.

One of our scouting convoys came across this very dark, Earth-sized planet. From space, it was very eerie. The fifth picture of the eight is of the surface of the planet, seen from space. There was only one moon, a very close moon. There was no other planets in this system. The only light came from a very dim, somewhat far-off sun.

Not knowing what to expect, we sent in four unmanned probes to tour the planet and take pictures. After four weeks, we received pictures of this planet. The numbers next to the picture will be listed below, giving a description.

1. This is what appears to cover 91% of this cold, dark planet.
2. This is another picture, this one from the opposite side of the planet, showing how similar this planet is from side-to-side.
3. This is a picture in what has shown to be what most of the “flat” ground on this planet it like. It also shows how close, and how large, the moon is, to this planet.
4. Now, this picture is very intriguing. This is the only picture like this we have received. There appears to be, possibly, an alien city of some kind. We scanned for humans, catpeople, elves, and other life forms that we know of, and we could not pick up any forms of life, thus proving it is not of any Earths kind, nor of any species known yet. That is, if this is a city.
5. This shows a close-up, from our ships in space, of what we can see of the surface of this planet, which we have named Planet Dark Mist.
6. This is a picture of what we saw coming up to this planet. The planet seemed to have some kind of mist that would periodically come off of the planet, with no apparent timing.
7. This is a picture of one of our unmanned probes going to the planet. At this time, there was no mysterious mist.
8. This is one of the very few places that received much light, and it did have some plant-like life here. This is a picture of how dim the sun was at this planet at “high noon”

We have decided to call up 15 of our SET teams. These are people who are willing to put their life on the line, dedicating it to space exploration. These teams will begin searching this planet over, testing everything, to see if we can live comfortably on this planet, and if there are truly other intelligent life forms living on this planet.

If we are able to live, we will begin colonizing this planet, as our land in Italy grows very overcrowded, as does our Pacifica Territory. We have stopped sending people to future colonize our two other planets, too.

We are finding proof that life, at least at one time, was around. These remains shown above are among many things we have as proof. We have also found what appears to be a once-large alien city, leveled, along with multiple alien ship crash sites. We do not know what has happened on this planet. The planet is very cold, dark, and misty. We have found, though, that oxygen is obundant here.

We are looking into the possibility of starting a military base and research lab before colonizing.

A ship, the scouter Bird's Eye, headed down into the planet. Readings show that the mistical atmosphere was slightly toxic, which is most likely why we have found so many skeletal remains.

From Bird's Eye to The Joan of Arc, the flag ship of the scouting convoy.
"Admiral VonLex. This is Captain Romulus of the Bird's Eye. Our readouts show the atmosphere is slightly toxic. At this time, we feel this is why we have found so many skeletal remains. We will check into it later.
"But, let me tell you... It is dark down here! And very... misty. Almost scary. Even through our VI-scanners, we are hardly see anything. It is also quite quiet, and, obviously, quite calm."

"Have you found anything yet, Captain?"

"No, Admiral. We have not found -- Wait! I think we have found land... (about five seconds of silence) YES! We have found land! The mist is lightening up down here. We can see much better now."

"What does it look like?"

"Well... just what the pictures came back like. Very dark, bleak, rocky... I'm glad I don't have to live down here. It's pretty ba---" Static. Then nothing.

"Captain... CAPTAIN! Can you hear me?"

"Transmission Lost. Connection Lost." The Joan of Arc's AI says, repeating three times in a monotone voice, as always when connect is lost.

"Shit. God damn it!" yells the Admiral, "What the hell happened? Try to establish connection again!"

Back on the Bird's Eye
"...It's very bad, and very quite. (waits about 5 seconds) Admiral? You there? Admiral? What happened?"

"Captain, we've lost our transmission. I don't know what happened. No errors are being reported by the ship's computer" says 19 year old Reserve (for ViZion's army) Johnson Caesar.

"Well, Johnson (OOC: it's quite... casual on the Bird's Eye)," says Captain Romulus, "then I think you better figure out what in God's name happened. While you do that, I think we should drop out tester, to see if it is safe to land here. Maybe we can then see if something happened outside the ship."

"Yes, Captain." Johnson rushes off to the technical room, where we sets up to figure out what happened

After a moment, they drop there tester. The tester sends back readings, and, after two minutes, approves landing.

Within a moment, three men were suiting up to explore, as the ship touched down.

(Five minutes later, after being briefed)

"Alright, let's go!" exclaims Rick VanClobber, who was head of the three explorers.

They stepped into 'The Neutral Room', a room with to doors, one leading into the ship, and one leading out of the ship.

The door closed behind them. "Door Opening in... 5... 4... 3... 2... 1..." Counted the ships computer. Then, the door swooshed open.

"Wowa! Man, it's cold!" says Brad, one of the three explorers.

"Well, that's what the Captain told you." says Rick.

As they step out, the door closes behind them. They walk off, the mist thickening by, it seemed, the second. Then, they vanished.

(12 hours later)

"Captain, we haven't been able to contact The Joan of Arc, and have had no contact with Rick, Brad, or Mateo. I'm getting a very uneasy feeling." says Johnson.

"Yes... I know, Johnson. I have a bad feeling. We need to go."

But it was to late.

Back on The Joan of Arc

"Admiral. We haven't head from, or seen, the Bird's Eye. I think we may have lost 'em." says Commander Red.

"Command, what do you expect us to do about it? I'm not sending in another manned ship."

"Admiral, we do have the un-manned scouters."

"Fine, then. Send one of them." remarks the Admiral, with a sneer.

Ten minutes later, the un-manned scouter was ready. From the loading dock of the Bird's Eye, it departed.

As it headed off, "Admiral. We're getting pictures already! They are more pictures of the planet." The Admiral sighs. "I don't care about that. I care about getting our 25 men back here - safely."

No later than he said that, "Transmission Lost. Connection Lost."

"WHAT?!" Screams the Admiral. "What in the Galaxy is going on here?"

The scouter had entered the planet's atmosphere. Someone was going on.

[Transmission Through Space]
This is Admiral VonLex of Joan of Arc, head of a scouting convoy. We have come across an alien planet. We are requesting assistance. As sent with this transmission, we have recieved multiple pictures from our first un-manned scouter group sent in.

We send in a manned exploration group of 25. We have lost communication with them, and fear we have lost them for good. Transmissions were lost, completely. No traces.

We sent in an un-manned scouter, with the same results. It has been six days and 04:31 hours since we lost communication with the explorers.

We request assistance on this new mission. The mission: To find if there is life on this planet ((OOC knowlege only: there is)), and what happened to our explorers, and the scouter. We also need to find out if this planet will, in the future, be safe to colonize.

Captain Raymond Hawking stood at the command station of the Long Range Surveillance Ship Mercury. His mission took him beyond the boundries of known space and the Commonwealth of TA, and now a call for help from an unknown vessel would take him even farther, but after all, that was his job.

"Communications, open a channel to this Admiral VonLex, tell him that the Commonwealth LRS ship Mercury has heard the call for assistance and is responding."

The Comm officer nodded, "Message sent sir."

"Good", Captain Hawking leaned into his station, "Now set course for that rock, and slip out"

With that the LRS ship Mercury entered slipstream, and was on its way to the mysterious world.
