The Ghost Ship (Open Space-RP; pic warning)

OOC EDIT: Open RP. Come and join!

IC:
"Alert: Admiral - Report to the Deck, Screen Room." Blares the AI over the Beart-Class Destroyer, Aloisa.

"Captain, what is it?" askes Admiral Javon. "Screen: ON!" commands Captain LaVarnce.

The seemingly black wall, 60 ft in height by 140 ft in width, flickers, and then comes a picture of an apparently abandoned ship.

http://www.3dactionplanet.com/hlp/contest/large/ophion.jpg

"Admiral, we are doing scans. No life forms show up. It is all quiet. We have been trying to establish connection, but all connections to that ship have failed.

"We have done background checks. We are not able to find who - or what, for that matter - had owned it. But, it had disappeared nearly 400 years ago, if we are looking up the correct ship."

"Well, Captain," says the Admiral, "I say we send in a boarding crew. CSC's (Combat Scout Crew's) A-ii-0-30 and A-va-4-01. That will consist of 215 men."

"But sir! We..."
"But nothing, Captain! We must find out what is on that ship - and not by those drones."
"Yes, sir." Replies the Captain, in a somewhat solom voice.

Intercomm over ship
"CSC A-ii-0-30 and A-va-4-01, report for emergency briefing! All men, man weapons!" the Captain commands over the ship's intercomm.

Briefing
"Screen: ON!" Commands the Captain in Briefing Room a-03-i. The picture of the ship again appears.
http://www.3dactionplanet.com/hlp/contest/large/ophion.jpg

"Men. We have a small situation. This ship is apparently abandoned, and if we are correct, it went missing nearly 400 years ago. All life-scans came back negative, and all communications have failed.

"The Admiral has ordered CSC's A-ii-0-30 and A-va-4-01 to board. You are to scout out this ship. Keep transmissions open at all times. We will also watch over your V-comm's, so we can see what you see.

"You have 1400 hours. After 1400 hours, you are to board your ships, and return. Clear?"

"Umm, Captain. Why don't we..."
"Send the drones? Are you kidding me? Those blasted things don't do a damn thing but mess things up! Now, let's move!"

Within four minutes, they were ready, and boarding their CBS F-1's.

On the other ship
"Phew! What the hell is that smell?"
"Ga'damn, that's bad!"
"Yip, but lets move. We gotta keep moving."
The halls were pitch black. The men had to rely on their night vision. Within five minutes, they came to what had apparently been the mess hall. It could easily fit 10,000 men in it, if not more. Everything seemed to be fine. Nothing was messed up. They looked around for about 30 minutes.
"Ok, guys. Let's keep going. Nothing here that will help us."

They went down one of the 27 halls leading in and out of the mess hall.
"What the...!"
Everything went black. Back on The Aloisa, screams could be heard, along with a evil, almost death-like cacling.

"What the hell's goin on?!" Screams the Captain
One video feed reappeared.
"Can you hear me?" asks the Captain
Faint, mostly transparent figures can be seen floating around, looking at the bodies. After 10 minutes, they were gone.

Then, the sound of heavy breathing could be heard, and they could see the one V-Comm that was still working was looking around, carefully, staying low to the ground.

The sight was devistating. Blood, guts, brains... everything. There were no whole bodies left.

Then, a wisper could be heard, faintly... very faintly...

"Help... Heeeellp."

The sound was raspy. They could see the person was trying to get up, looking around, then looking back down. He, too was very injured. His right arm was completely gone. He also lost his left foot.

It took him nearly an hour to reach the CBS F-1's. But, when he got there, he found more of the same. The pilots had all been ripped nearly to shreds, on all three of them.

He, luckily, knew the basics of opperating this. He closed the door on the one he got into. He slowly made his way to the cockpit. He turned it on, selected it to the highest thrust level, and he was off. He set it on auto-pilot to go back to The Aloisa. Within 10 minutes, he was there.

He immediately got medical aid, and after nearly a 20 hour surgery to save his life, he was saved. He was in no shape to tell what it was like first-person. But, they knew well enough from what they saw and heard.

That ship was haunted.

Requesting your help!
Admiral Javon sent a message across the galaxy.
"This is Admiral Javon on The Aloisa, a Scouter and Destroyer of the OMSP. We have encountered an abandoned and... haunted - Yes, that's right, HAUNTED, ship of unknown origins. All we have found is that is disappeared nearly 400 years ago. We are requesting aid.

"Please, nations of space, send aid. Let us gather more information, and, if at all possible, destroy these ghosts!"

OOC: Alright... so, I need nations to help out in this RP, to figure out who's ship this is, are willing to send in men, drones, etc... Men (or anything living) will die at first until we figure out how to destroy them.

This should be fun! Thanks! Come join in!

At that, the UBS Interstar sets its new course, heading off to the Ghost Ship.

Captain Roger Young of the Commonwealth High Guard Heavy Crusier Legends of Atlantis listened to the distress call and couldn't help but laugh. A haunted ship, ghosts, please. Such things did not exist in reality.

He was about to throw the whole thing out the window as a hoax, but then again, what was wrong with taking a peak? The Atlantis could place a DSA on border patrol and no one would know the wiser.

Captain Young turned to face his XO, "Contact the Wrath of Lucifer and get him out here in finish this patrol, we have an... anomaly, to investiagte."

"And Contact this Admiral Javon as well, tell him... tell him the calvary is coming."

Graudenz(OOC:the future timeline version) will be sending the survey ship Iltis to the location of the derelict. Although only lightly armed, the ship has a powerful sensor suite and will attempt to help you discover what is on the abandoned vessel. The Iltis is also carrying several heavy tritium demolition devices should you decide the derelict should be scuttled.

After a short jaunt through slipstream, the Legends of Atlantis comes out of slipstream with the usual electric storm fanfare. The 1.3 kilometer long heavy crusier glided out towards the mystery vessel with scanners at full power.

"Lets see what we have." Captain Young said over the shoulder of the sensor operator, who shakes his head. "All I can tell you is that she is big, not as big as us, but large all the same. I can't get a good reading of the interior, I may be picking up lifeforms, but I can't locate them, the readings are coming from every section of the ship, it doesnt make any sense."

Young nodded, and pressed a comm button on a panel. "Young to Major Vance, I want a squad of lancers and a Ung Tae dropship ready to go in ten, its your ass if they're not."

All that came back from the comm was a quick "Yes sir!" Young had no doubts that Vance would have her squad ready to go, she was that good, but good enough to fight phantoms, who knows...

OOC:

Are your five volunteers already on the ship?

IC:

With a small flash from the thrusters on the Ung Tae, the small craft carrying 24 well armed and armoured lancers sped away from the Atlantis towards the unknown ship.

Inside, Major Vance walked among her squad, they were good, professional soldiers, and she felt like a fool for taking them on a ghost hunt, but orders are orders.

"Alright squad, now I don't wanna hear any snickering about ghosts, I am willing to bet my left tit that whatever is on that damned boat, it aint ghosts. But it sure as hell is probably something that will wanna gut your ass and string you from the roof. So stay frosty, do you DUMB SOB's HEAR ME!?!"

Not even a second later the squad piped up, "Sir, Yes Sir!"

"Good..." She said... "Oh and by the way we also have to babysit a couple of ghost hunters from the crew of the vessel that discovered our ghost ship, so try and keep them from dying, saves me the paperwork."

She heard moaning about babysitting dumb civies from her troops, but she didn't care, they'd do they job, or she'd personally beat the hell out of them, every man feared Major Jennifer Vance, and she liked it that way.

With a large audible thumb the Ung Tae latched onto the hull of the ship and airlock/cutting tube combo began its quick work on the hull, cutting a whole large enough for the lancer team to walk through. The team waited impatiently for the cutter to finish its work.

One short, stout lancer looked up to the guy standing next to him.

"So, Alverez, you bring two force-lances with ya?"

The lancer, whose name was obviously Alverez, shook his head.

"Come on man, you gotta go in there with two, both firing at the same time, man you look golden on the record vids then, the women love ya!"

Alverez's attention was caught, "Really?"

"Oh ya, for sure, its like this just watch the man in action!"

The cutter finished its work and pulled away from the hull, and the little lancer ran up with two force-lances one in each hand, and drop kicked the cut hull plating out and jumped inside, directly into a mass of rotting flesh and bones.

"AHHHHH!!!!"

Vance make a face of disgust, "God Damn psyco little F*ck."

She walked up to the hole and looked down at the lancer, curled in a corner and covered with slimy rotting remains of the corpses below her.

"Sanders you psyco little shit, you pull one more of those stunts, and my foot will be so far up your ass you'll be polishing my boot with your tongue, is that clear soldier!?!"

She didn't care for a response, she didn't want one, she lead the remaining 22 lancers down and around the mess that Sanders had jumped into, the bodies had been eviscrated, torn open. Vance didn't care to imagine what kind of creature did that, but whatever it was she was sure she could kill it.

She pulled a Sergeant from the group, "Take ten down to the engineering section, I'll take the rest of the squad to the bridge" and with that the 24 lancers split into two groups, and set out for opposite ends of the ship.

As they stepped off the transporter, they saw Vance and hey group.

"You must be from Terra Alliance! We've been looking forward to work with you guys... and girls, sorry. We hear these ghosts are pretty bad. Only one guy made it back outta 25.. and he's barely staying alive. He can't talk about it.

Vance looked at the group of five like she found them under a rock.

"You come aboard a compromised ship, with enemies everywhere as best as our scans could tell, with only one weapon, a pistol at that, are you guys for real?"

They moved to reply, but she cut them off.

"Nevermind, its your lives, not mine, now since I seem to be the only one with a head on her shoulders let me lay down the ground rules, first of all, you will not run off to scan, test, or examine ANYTHING unless you are accompanied by lancers. Failure to comply will result in your deaths, and it wont be me that kills you, it'll be the bastards that live here."

Vance straightened herself and titled her head back, anything to make herself physically more impressive.

"Secondly, what I say goes, if I say, get over here now, you will come to me like I am a 5 cent hooker and you havent gotten any for the past decade. My word shall be as Gods word. Failure to comply will most likely result in your deaths as well, understand? Good!"

She then walked up to the five men and put her arms on the shoulders of the two on the end and pulled them all into a pseudo huddle.

"I'm looking forward to working with you too, oh and yes, that is rotting bodies you smell, sure wakes you up doesn't it?" Vance whispered with quite the evil grin on her face.

"Sir, we have a new ship in system, its identifying itself as the SMS Iltis, they say they have equipment which may be useful to the operation."

The Captain nodded, "Send over a dropship to pick up the equipment, then have them dock with the derelict at the lancer teams location and commence the drop."

A few minutes later, a Commonwealth Ung Tae class dropship sped towards the SMS Iltis to pick up the crucial cargo.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Vance listened to the racket that had suddenly engulfed the ship, which included a loud racket and the shrill voice of an unseen woman.

She was pissed now, she did not like being toyed with and she expressed her displeasure by whipping out her force lance and waving it in the air, the five ghost hunters ducked as she waved the weapon indiscriminantly.

"All right you meat heads, you have ten seconds to show yourselves, or I will rip this piece of space garbage apart piece by piece, and when I find you, you will rue the day you ever heard of Major Jennifer Vance."

Her men couldn't help but laugh at her rant, and in response, Vance turned over to them and stared at them, without blinking or flinching. "Shut... up."

And then, Vance began to count... and stopped when she heard the voice behind her and the ghost hunters and she whipped around in a circle and pointed her force lance directly in the face of the unknown woman.

"Identify yourself or die."

Bow joins in, "Bow has Hoe's gun, though, Mo" Bow looks at Mo. "Haha! Bow has Hoe's gun!" Just then, Joe grabs Mo's gun, "Haha, and now Joe has Mo's gun!" They then start arguing and fighting.

All John could do was look, and try to fight back his laughing.
"Umm... guys... remember, there is that... thing... behind you. How about argue later, and run now? Or, maybe shoot and run at the same time?" Just then, John runs behind Terra Alliance's group of soldiers.

"Identify yourself or die," she heard the woman in front of her yell in anger.

Clandestine walked up to her, her footsteps echoing thoughout the ship, stopping when a force lance was inches from her face. She places her hand on the woman's face.

"My child, you may kill me if you like, but honey....I do not think it will look good on your record and when the others appear I do think you may require my assistance after all. I mean killing a valuable Scientist. What would your superiors think?"

Clandstine gently grabbed the woman's arm. "Come now child, I am not the enemy, if that is what you think I am," her laughter resounded again.

"But, how could you trust me, right," she says taking a step back. "You will in due time. I will give you time to think on it."

She turned away, beginning to walk away from the woman.

Vance rolled her eyes, she hated these mysterious touchy feely types, who spoke in riddles and what-ifs, what the hell is wrong with giving a straight answer these days. The way that woman laughed, god she must have lost her marbles a long time ago. she paused to think...

"Whoa, Whoa, wait a god damned minute, who are you calling child, grandma? Now nevermind this mysterious mumbo-jumbo, who do you work for, who are you loyal too? Is this your ship?"

Clandestine whipped her sword out at the woman.

"Sorry honey. I have no time for this. You want to know all about me. Well, there is not enough time in the day to begin. You have no power to control me and I will only answer what I feel you should perhaps know."

She withdrew her sword growing impatient again.

"In my day and age children never spoke up against their grandmothers. You never knew what we would put in your krimpets."

She laughed again.

"First let us talk about you. Why have you invaded this ship? Is it yours? Well, onviously not, then what permission merits you right to be here?"

Major Vance regreted she never had the chance to extend her force lance and beat this obtuse woman senseless, but she was sure she'd get the opportunity to do that later. She let loose a little grin and walked up to the woman, inches from her face.

"Now you listen to me, we responded to a distress call concerning a derelict ship, as in abandoned. Somebody made a mess and forgot to clean it up, now that job falls on to me and my men, and we will do the job with your help or without your help, and I'd advise not getting in our way, because from where I stand, we have just as much right to be standing on these decks as you do."

Vance pulled her face back from the womans and extended her force lance to full length, about five feet, and turned to face her.

"And don't bother getting into a pissing contest with me lady..." she remarked sarcasticly. "I've beat more intimidating than you before."

With that she pulled aside the same Sergeant she talked to earlier, and in no uncertain terms told him to get his ass with half the team to engineering.

She grinned as she continued to walk.

A man shifted from the darkness of ship to the light. He was standing long enough in the corner watch the scene that Clandestine had created. Clandestine was untouchable, and he knew that.

His path cut in front of the hunters.

"Pardon me," he said with a slight nod of the head. "I see you had some trouble back there. If I may be of some assistance...."

He stood with an erect back, almost like a well trained and discplined soldier, but he lacked any identification. He was muscular and had a brutish sort of look to his dark hair, eyes, and olive complexion. He seemed like a soldier, but something about his manner in addressing people, proved elsewise.

She managed to calm her demeanor and without a single blink, looked the man in the eye.

"Who are you, and explain to me, in detail please, how you could possibly assist me?"

Vance had never apologized for anything in her life, she was having trouble finding the words for it now.

Vance gave the man a slight grin and walked in front of him and led the rest of the group to the bridge. Normally she wouldn't turn her back to someone she had just met, but she had about a dozen lancers also behind her, and she trusted them to watch her back. She rolled her eyes at the antics of the ghost hunters that were with them, god they were almost worse than children.

The man had looked so brutish, yet he was remarkably fragile, she wondered if he was a member of the original crew, her mind flashed back to the pile of dead decomposing bodies near their entry point. If he was, then she'd have to be extra careful around him, he could be responsible for all of this. Appearances could be decieving. Vance looked over her shoulder and spoke to the stranger.

"So I'm still waiting for you to tell me about yourself, whats your name for starters?"
12-02-2004, 07:48
"Hoe, this ship is even stranger then I though." remarked Bow. "I mean, aren't they suppose to float and be transparent and stuff?" "Well, ya, but like you said...", Mo looks around to see if the strange people were looking, then he wispers, "they're strange..." "Ya know, "Joe says, "that one chick back that... By this time, everyone was stairing at the four 'ghost hunters', who were in a full-volume, yelling-at-eachother, she's-mine fight, with pocks and kicks here and their. "Well, Jim is good enough for now, at least I have something to call you now..."

She trailed off as they came to a sharp corner in the corridor, she held up her hand as a signal for the lancers to stop, and peeked around the corner and saw nothing. So she continued on her way, waving her hand at the troops to get them moving again, and continued the conversation with "Jim".

"So Jim, are you a member of the ships crew, or are you a visitor here same as I am?"

She could hear the stress in the man's voice, this guy definatly had some kind of memory loss, he sounded confused. Vance thought it best to lay off the questioning, at least for a while. Maybe something would come back to him, maybe not. Either way she decided that when the lancers left this boat, he was coming with them, he needed medicial treatment, a brainscan in particular.

The assorted mix of lancers, scientists, and complete strangers came to a halt at a door, on the other side of which was the bridge.

"Well, Jim, I wouldn't worry about her, if she causes us any trouble, my lancers will make short work of her."

She tried several times to open the bridge door, but failed each time.

"Damn, Alverez, get up here and blow this door, I want a hole I can walk through in under 120 seconds or its your ass."

One of the lancers in the rear rushed up to the front and opened a med kit and began running scans on "Jim" feeling for a pulse, etc. Vance looked up to Alverez, who was just finishing putting the explosive charges on the door frame.

"Ready to go ma'am, just say the word and we'll be in there in no time."

Vance was about to give the order to blow the door, but she paused and looked at Jim, her remark about blowing the door scared him shitless, she had to wait until he regained consciousness, they had to know what was on the other side before they blew it.

*Aboard the Legends of Atlantis* Comms technician: "Sir, the Iltis reports that their scans have been inconclusive, although they have detected an unknown energy signature permeating the derelict. They signal they are now moving in to dock."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*Later* The expedition party heard a loud creaking sound echo through the ship, then a deafening clang of metal on metal as the Iltis' universal docking port connected with one of the ghost ship's airlocks. Then silence, until a report from the survey ship came over the group's communicators: They were to make their way, once they had finished their work on the bridge, to the airlock where the Iltis had docked to pick up portable scanners and roundezvous with the Graudenzian science team. Distance to airlock: 134 meters further on, up three decks, and another 20 meters to the left.
OOC: But will they ever make it there?
IC: Meanwhile, Commander von Haun has ordered the airlock to be kept closed to *hopefully* prevent the "ghosts"from getting in. Currently technicians are attempting to establish a computer interface with the derelict's main databank so the ship's log can be found. This can hopefully describe what happened to the haunted ship.

"Move him around the corner, the rest of you go too."

Vance walked up to Alverez and grabbed the detonator for the door charges from him.

"Alverez, around the corner, I assume this will make a big bang when I blow it..."

Alverez ran for a corner at the words "big bang" and was gone before Vance got a chance to finish speaking, oh well, she liked it when they followed her orders before she finished them. Vance herself then backed up to the bend in the corridor.

"Get ready men, when the smoke clears, I want you to rush that room, standard formation, got it?"

The group of Lancers nodded.

"Good, now get ready for it."

The Captain of the Legends of Atlantis was a patient man, he typically let his lancer squads use as much time as they needed to complete an objective, within reason of course. The Aloisa Commander, however, seem particularly concerned about its men, maybe they knew something he didn't.

"Comm, open a channel to the Aloisa..."

"Open sir."

"Aloisa, this is the Captain of the Legends of Atlantis, as best as we can tell from the incomming reports, your men seem to be fine and they are working on accessing the bridge, if there are any changes in the situation we will notify you, over."

With that the comm link was cut.

Vance jumped into the bridge of the ship, and her stomach turned at what she saw. There were two bodies in the pilots chairs, and it looked as if they had been blown apart. Their brain matter was all over their consoles and the walls, this was even worse than the pile of decomposing flesh they found when the first entered the ship.

Vance turned to face the lancers who piled in behind her.

"Secure all the stations, I want status reports on all systems in five, get on it..."

Her voice trailed off when the five annoying men sent from the Aloisa approached her. They wanted floating ghosts, not "realistic" ones, were they refering to her, or to Jim and that crazy broad they met before.
