Why not start the RP during 1942 instead of having it span over the whole course of the war? It would be much easier to consolidate the battle by dividing it by battles, instead of years. One thread for the Battle of the Bulge, another for Pearl Harbor, Midway, etc.

well, years is better, cause battles are so short, plus a month will prolly only take a few hours to finish up, longer if big battles are included, but im open to suggestions.

I'm not still unconvinced about splitting the RPs into different periods...It would be logical to do so if each person RPs as a leader of a battallion/fleet/squadron, but using individuals might screw up the system. Either way, the thread has already piqued my interests and I'm up for whatever all of you can throw at me :D.

haha! finally a good rp idea! its been like half a year since last time...

oh, and also, individual action will not change the course of the war(unless somone snipes hitler), but battalion, squadron, or fleet action might change the course of the war so that wouldnt be good. stick to the books, but rp what your soldier goes through in battle and such, like losing friends,etc.

Erm, anyway.. do you suppose there will be anything for a Frenchman to do? I mean, they're all such disparate characters thus far. Limited potential for interaction. Won't these mainly be a number of individual and largely unrelated stories?
Meh, either way.. I might have a go at being a French soldier who perhaps ends up in the resistance. Maybe a prison-break along the way or something.

ok. well, i was intending that at some point rpers from the allies, commentern, and axis meet each other at off points in battle, such as facing each other with a K98 sniper. one barely misses the other with a BAR, and such.

Well, if you add Nationalist China to the mix, Japan can be involved in this from 1939, considering that they went to war with them in 1936. A US pilot could also take the side of the Chinese, flying for the US "Flying Tigers" squadron.

Presumly he could have been part an elite squadron to counter act the German's zeps back then, however he ended up flying cargo of brozze all over the Aussie outback during the 1920/30s.

Nah, the Aussies took Shermans alright. They developed their own tanks when it became clear that Britain wouldn't be able to supply them due to the threat of invasion. The AC1 Sentinel cruiser tank was a damn good weapon for its day, but they only built about three score before America started to get off its arse and help, and so importing Shermans and the like proved much cheaper than turning out their own tanks. Even if Sentinels had real armour instead of paper, the same capacity to carry 17pdr anti-tank guns, and probably didn't catch fire every time a fight started. Ah well.

ok I'll be a Russian soldier, seeing you haven't posted weapons yet I'll either use a DP or PPSH whichever you decide to use and if you don't mind I'll take one of those T-34s off your hands. :P Oh and if you need ny information bout my guy: He's the gunner of a Russian T-34 which would make him a Corporal

well, the war will begin and end at the same time as history says, but, who wins is still in question.

fighting for Britain's Armed Forces, not Irish National Forces. therefore, technically, they were British soldiers. just put in the background that they are Irish Nationals.

Another reason for starting in 1940/1941, is that all of the really bad (or really good, depending on how you look at it) stuff happened to the Empire's armies. I mean, there was the Fall of France, the Battle of Britain, Greece, Crete, the beginning of the Malayan thing and others like that. But, there was also good things, like the Tobruk Garrison (which I would really like to RP in this! :D ), Syria, Lebanon and other places. It wouldn't be much fun if we didn't have them in it.

To add a different group playing I'll be a Fallschirmjäger serving the Fatherland. Later I'll post a little bit of background on myself (IC) and some on the Fallschirmjäger (I'll need to do some research to augment my knowledge so far).

Actually, the Irish were pretty much like America in the early war. Had a lot of volunteers, in fact there was an entire division of Irishmen in D-Day. I'll change to something a little more well known, a U.S ranger, starts as a volunteer in the European Theater.

I'd like to play a Canadian sniper. If it's possible, I'll be the leader of his platoon as well (Two characters) but if not, just the sniper.

you mean STG44s, which were first in service in 1944, not 1939, so you would have to wait a while to use one.

German Territories: That'd be cool to see you as an ace, but I'm just thinking...according to this thread and timeline, the war hasn't really been going on for a while yet. Thus, your character cannot really be an Ace, he has to build up his kills before he becomes well known... especially considering you finished training with the Luftwaffe only two years before the war...

yes, i am, and im ressurecting this. the History channel Band of Brothers Marathon has inspired me quite a lot...

ill open up a 1941 topic, since there wasnt a whole lot of fighting in 1940.
