The leaders of the Restore the Family Coalition took to the streets of Lavenrunz yesterday as a way of insisting that Lavenrunz must look to the family as the best way to better the state.
"Where has the love gone?" spokesperson Rudolph Drexler demanded. "Familes are breaking up, young couples are openly living together or breaking up at whim, homosexuality is rampant in the most shocking places--we need to return to our spiritual roots and restore the pillar of the nation--the family!"
The march, which involved more than 40,000 people in the capital, was in support of recent legislation by the Christian-Nationalist Party to make it mandatory for couples to express affection and renew their vows of marriage on a regular basis or face fines.
"This is fascism, plain and simple." fumed Populist Party leader Arvid Pluskat. "And a lot of those who voted in favour from the other parties just did it to increase government revenues. It's a scandal."
However, Archbishop Heinz Wittmar's spokesperson, Monsignor Flacht, said, "This is a tempest in the teapot. The fact is that there is still an increase in promiscuity and homosexuality. Until divorce is made illegal--or at the very least very costly--marriage will still be in trouble in Lavenrunz.
