[ZN, Zaea Centralis] Today the People's Republic of Zeronia seized control of the largest private company in the nation. Several top-level executives of Zeronian Industrial Military Manufacturers (ZIMM) were jailed after PEZ troopers stormed a meeting in downtown Zaea Centralis. The High Magisterial Court of Zeronia made a national statement earlier today, stating that the seven executives of ZIMM were charged with violating the Environmental Protection and Preservation Act, the Tree Octopus Charter, and tax evasion. After a session of public humiliation, the executives were taken to an undisclosed location. The trial is expected to be a short one, and when proven guilty (ooc:  ), the executive will have their personal savings stripped and redistributed to Zeronians, be committed to do five months of community service, and expect up to three consecutive life sentences in prison. The High Magisterial Court deems the charges as borderline treason, which is an executable offense, but decided that life in prison will suffice as long as complete liquidation of the ZIMM executives' possessions gets underway as soon as possible.
For almost fifty years, ZIMM has been a partially government-run, but given priority as a private establishment. Since the early 1970s, ZIMM has been the largest private company in Zeronia, with net profits last quarter exceeding 110 billion crums ($200 million USD), and annual sales well into the billions. With ZIMM under government control for an indefinite period of time, the largest private company in Zeronia is now a major eastern-based construction company, with last quarter's profits barely reaching 13.8 billion crums ($25 million USD). Only eight private companies in Zeronia have profits over 550 million crums ($1 million USD), as the rest are entirely run by the government.
For the next several months, private companies will expect a much closer eye on them from the government, and PEZ troopers will have full authority to investigate suspicious corporate activities.
