OOC:
I’ve decided to just forget about the retirement and get this done.

“King Santos? That’s what is on the mind of many in the Senate today as it is rumored that certain members have begun to ask if it was possible. Citing the need to strengthen the governments it is reported that several members of the Senate and House of Representatives are putting forth a proposal to grant President General Santos enough power that he would in a sense become King…”
Gregory watched the news report with a snicker to himself. Oh if they only knew. He couldn’t help but chuckle as he sat back in his office and rocked the chair slowly. It was going to be a easy transition from one government to another. Of course there would be the occasional speed bump, however by the time anyone managed to rise up and figure out what he was up to he would disband the Senate and the House and declare himself King. He had positioned people who he would of course entitle nobility to after all was said and done however for the time being Gregory bided his time. Planning his coronation already in secret he was prepared down to the last detail. He had even contacted other military leaders within the Republic. They had fully agreed, that the nation at this time, after taking on the Arda head nation needed a strong government, one with little oversight or hindrance from the Senate.
The only problem, which had arisen, however was the problem of an heir; Gregory de los Santos was single for the past two centuries and had pretty much hadn’t had a date for a little longer than that. Several Generals raised their heads at this, they saw nothing wrong with such a move, if the President could not birth and heir then it was possible for him to pick an heir. This was something he was reluctant to do, if he picked an heir his likely hood of dealing with an assassination attempt would have jumped six to eight fold. No he thought to himself That would not be at all acceptable to try and have my own military attempting to kill me. To appease the hardliners however he said he would appoint an heir once he himself was ready to step down and on no others time table. This kept the military quiet as they gave President Santos the support he needed to declare a monarchy outright.
However legality was what he wanted most, and to get it he would need to wait for the Senate to approve of such an action. It would take several days though, he pondered calling up some of his allies and informing them of the situation. Tilting his head up slightly he looked at the ceiling and thought of the responses he would get over the phone. He wanted to get a surprise, but he didn’t want the shit to hit the fan if some of his allies thought that this would cause a civil war. His left foot tapping onto the carpeted floor beneath him it was still a tempting thought to just leave them in the complete dark. Either way they would find out in a few days when the Senate made its announcements of the far reaching new laws which shifted more of the power away from the Senate and House over to the President General.
