It was a cold Lavenrunz day, Kurt - a big strapping Lavenrunzian doing temporary duty, was standing guard in the parking lot of the Lavenrunz mining ministry . A tough soldier, Kurt was part of the highly trained Lavenrunz security forces.
Guard duty seemed to be pretty easy, no real threat was suspected, Lavenrunz hadn't witnessed the violent attacks nations like North Star had. Around here was rather quiet, residential suburbs of hillside houses and apartments built along well kept streets. A perfect peaceful Germanic image, but still Kurt and the other guards where alert .
Kurt Mier attention was drawn to the end of the road in front t of the ministry annex. He looked down the road and saw a light colored van with diplomatic plates, but there seemed to be an argument going on between the gate guard and the vehicle, then there was a shot fired by the man in the van and the van suddenly accelerated down the road in the direction of the ministry, one of the guards fired at the van but by that stage it was parallel to Kurt Miers.
Kurt fired at the vans driver, he saw him fall and as he did the driver pulled the wheel with him, steering the vehicle away from Kurt and away from its headlong kamikaze run into the ministry. The van slid straight into a parked ministry vehicle, exploding in a massive fireball.
Kurt was blown flat by the explosion, and through his dazed vision he saw the massive destruction the vanbomb had caused even thou it hadn't actually hit the building itself.

Everyone was busy. So much was happening in the world and so much effect Drakonia that they were all busy. The recent cut off of all International Communication to Drakonian Assets had only made things worse. Tensions were still high in Fyreheart. Rukemia was being obliterated by Ardan forces, Tersanctus has just gone to war with the Trojan Empire, and now this. It seemed only yesterday that the conflict with Al Anbar had erupted and the ensuing tensions with the Federated Klatchian Coast had barely ended when the conflict with Ardan/Emirate Fyreheart had nearly come to full-scale war.

The Director had just taken a break from his tiring shift running the Intelligence Agency. He now reclined in his chair behind his chest, his eyes fluttering toward sleep. The Director of the Drakonian Intelligence Agency (DIA) was a dark-skinned ebony man, with short black hair. Well built and looking almost ageless, small streaks of grey in his hair were beginning to show his true age.

His aide burst into his office, slamming the door open. "Director," the man said urgently. "Something has happened!"

The Director's eyes shot open, he straightened in his seat. Swallowing, his eyes widened as everything snapped back into place in his mind. In less then a second he was totally awake. "What is it," he asked.

The man rushed to his desk slapping down a file folder. "There has been a terrorist attack in Lavenrunz, sir. The United Brotherhood of Muslims claimed responsibility." The man turn, switched on the Director's television and switched it over to the ISN news channel. The broadcast play.

"This comes at a very bad time," the Director spoke, having thought everything over. He flipped open the file folder and began to leaf through the material inside.

"Yes, sir, it does," the Aide replied. The man flipped off the television when the Lavenrunzian report ended.

For a second or so more the Director skimmed through the information in the file folder. Then he closed his and look at his Aide. "Have this information fast-tracked to the Diplomatic Corps. they will need it when we resume communications, also make sure it gets on the Praetor's desk and--"

"Sir," the man interrupted the Director, reminding him of the current situation with the Praetor.

The Directors mood darkened at the reminder. "Oh yeah, damn." The Director thought for half a second. "Well, get it to the Cheif Advisor, then."

"Yes, Sir." And then the Aide was gone off to carry out his work.

"Damn," the Director mouthed again after he was gone.

An angry buzz greeted the convening of the Volksraad. When Chancellor von Mirbach rose at the President's invitation,
there was a furious outcry. General Schlabel leapt to his feet and shouted, "Appeasement and diplomacy, is it? How many Lavenrunzians have to die because you love the Reich?"
Growls of agreement chorused. Count Mirbach looked at Schlabel coldly. "Madame President, I have the floor..."
Shouts and accusations greeted him.
"Silence!" snapped the President in a whipcrack voice. "If there is not at least the courtesy to hear the Members out I will censure all present." Amid grumbling, quiet began to occur at last.
"Madame President, it is the intention of the Empire of Lavenrunz to accept this invitation of the Sultanate of North Star and to send a military force to punish the city of Torin for their harbouring of rebels and terrorists. Our forces in Arda will be re-routed to our province of Surya
and from there they will embark for Torin."
Claudia der Waal rose and said, "I would like to hear the Chancellor state that there will be no backpedaling this time: that the interests of the state and not adventurism will prevail."
Count Mirbach's pale blue eyes stared into her. "Madame President: this government is devoted entirely to the service of the Sovereign and of the State."

The principal members of the cabinet sat around the Chancellor's desk. A haze of cigarette smoke hung in the air. Count Mirbach felt faintly ill,
but he knew that some of his advisors couldn't think without their nicotine.
Baroness von Hentzau remarked, "You know, this won't be as easy as it looks."
"No?" Count Mirbach asked.
"No. First of all, Torin is in a very tropical part of the world. So the troops will all have to spend some time acclimatizing in some similar area before they go in. There's the matter of supply: to do this effectively we need to overwhelm them entirely. That means
we need to keep the merchant marine we've called up afloat, and we'll need a heavy carrier complement to make sure we have enough air power."
"Then there's time." added General von Baden. "I estimate at least ten days before we can get anything effective done at all. What we can do for now is reconaissance and intelligence things."
"What I want to know is this. Her Majesty has asked that this Government prepare an effective response that will prevent these people thinking they can get away with murder. Can we do that?"
General von Baden glanced at Baroness Hentzau and said in a grim voice, "There is no doubt in my mind that the United Moslem Brotherhood will find that hell would have greater mercy than we."
"What we all must remember," said Mirbach, leaning forward seriously, catching them all with his intense eyes, "Is that this is not just about our government...it's not even about Her Majesty. It's about God's
will in Lavenrunz. Her Majesty understands that clearly, hence Her insistence that we look for a possible peaceful solution. I regard our governance as a sacred trust. After this fiasco with Drakonian Imperium leading

As Erich Deitz in our Hofburg bureau has reported, Lavenrunz has been the victim of a savage attack against its Mining Ministry, slaying 12 and wounding 35. The United Muslim Brotherhood, a sister group to the Christian Liberation Army which last April destroyed a teleport nexus in downtown Vinyatirion, slaying 22, claimed responsibility. The Lady Sirithil today made a statement.

Menelmacar is shocked and appalled by the terrorist attack against Lavenrunz, and our thoughts and prayers go out to our friends in the Teutonic Empire, especially those who have lost loved ones to this heinous crime.

My congratulations, also, go out to Corporal Kurt Miers, who through courage and quick thinking, valiantly defended the Ministry and possibly saved hundreds of lives; the massive bomb, had it successfully been driven into the Ministry, would surely have brought the entire building down. Kurt Miers is truly a hero of Lavenrunz.

No one slept through it
The sound early that Sunday in that cold February ripped through the city, just as the morning sun's first rays bounced off the fine snow .
Seven-year-old Rania Gribbel ran screaming into her parents' bedroom, terrified by the almost visible waves of impact that blew window glass all over her bed. A long time passed before she left her father's arms.
Sitting outside sipping coffee, banker Martin Smithe leapt to his feet when he saw the massive cloud grow into the sky, then cover it. His jaw dropped open as he saw such violence brought to his homeland.
Heide Harmon , an apartment manager, thought it was the end of the world. As with any traumatic event, everyone in the city had a story about where they were when that horrendous dull roar went off.
Colonel Tom Finel, chief of the Lavenrunz army depot in the city, heard it clear across town as he lay in bed sipping his tea. His first reaction was that someone had fired a ground to ground missile. He dashed to his balcony window , where he could see, and smell, the rancid black smoke. He was horrified, but still not aware of the target.
It was the largest nonnuclear explosion used by the U.M.B outside of North Star. The equivalent of 5 tons of dynamite went into the bomb.
Lance Corporal Ernst Himmel voice cracked with emotion when latter he explained what had happened that day "I heard a crash, it was like a roaring truck and then I heard something hit, then I heard the explosion, I was behind defenses on the roof and stuff was falling. More then three hundred Marines and army personal had been asleep at 5:50am , ten minutes before reveille, only the cooks, preparing breakfast, were up. Most of the troops were crushed in their beds when the building began to collapse into a single grotesque pile of concrete and twisted steel.
One survivor saw how it had all happened, Corporal Joanna Bachmann saw the big rubbish truck as it circled in the parking lot outside the barracks , It was not unusual to see heavy vehicles and she had seen that truck herself many times. But suddenly the yellow truck broke and headed at full speed towards the training battalions headquarters. Bachmann remembered the expression on the drivers face as she fired at him "he looked right at me, smiled, I knew exactly what was going to happen"

Claudia sat at her desk in her private office with a glass of red wine next to her, her private T.V. was on CNN and she was catching up on the latest International News. After hearing a bunch of stuff about stocks the news swiched to the resent Bombings in Lavenrunz by muslim sandrats from North Star.

"And I was thinking about joining the Reich when I learn that they have MUSLIMS in their ranks!" Claudia thought bitterly as she took a drink of her wine. "For now we will keep quiet about the problems between North Star and Lavenrunz, let the sandrats and SATO Dogs tear each other apart." she wrote on the offical report sent to her by her assistant, he would know what to do. Claudia smiled and took another drink, God worked in mysterious ways, she could only hope that He would show her the path to Glory for Khallaca III and the faithful. Claudia then glanced back at the T.V. "Dammit! More Commercials?!" Claudia thought in annoyance as she hit the MUTE button.

The port city was hot. The roads were full of red dust this time of year, and people spent most of the high noon period snoozing.
The Lavenrunzians who fared best were those from the northern part of the country, near the tropics. Those from the south tended to fall ill at first
from heat prostration and other ailments.
Out to sea, the skeletal bodies of oil derricks rose. Container ships for oil, sugar and copra lined up at the port to receive their cargoes.
Surya, unlike Lavenrunz, had many lagoons with fine beaches, resulting in people eagerly flocking to it for vacations. This had caused some strain: the nightclubs and
Lavenrunz style beaches (which were clothing optional) shocked some of the conservative moslem population. But young people who had moved to the city found themselves over the last generation
socializing with the foreign company executives and white and blue collar workers they ran into, and it was not uncommon to see young women of arabic ancestry wearing
t-shirts with designer logos in contrast to other women who wore traditional headcoverings and walked several paces behind their menfolk.
It was also only two hundred and thirty five miles from North Star. Thus it had a submarine squadron stationed in the area, a surface squadron, a naval air station, and a large army base.
For a generation, ships had prowled outside the two hundred mile limit, and missiles had been aimed from it at North Star. Not without reason: North Star still claimed the island chain and though there was little official
talk about reclaiming it, in Emperor Frederick's day and in the early years of Empress Joanna's reign movements for independance or re-union with North Star had been violently put down.
Now security measures were cracking down. As this was the largest area in Lavenrunz with a more than 80% moslem population, Reichspolizei went from door to door if need be to arrest anyone suspected of sympathy with the UMB.
Surprisingly, those vocal in supporting independance were not necessarily targeted. Rather, it was those who were quietest and most subtle in many cases. A small protest began on the streets of Bandar Sidi but immediately riot troops broke it up. Martial law was declared.

One of Lavenrunz' largest air force bases was mobilizing. Refuelling planes were setting up in relays, and the new Chief of the Imperial Air Staff was run ragged preparing squadron after squadron for movement to Surya.
On the ground, C-5 Galaxies, Lockheed Starlifters and C-130s were filling up with paratroopers. Six squadrons of Heimdall Long Range Bombers, 2 squadrons of Vigfuss Long Range Attack Fighters, 3 squadrons of Krieghund Ground Attack Fighters were gearing up to relay all the way to Surya.
Although trains, trucks and planes were flurrying around the country with supplies and personnel, it was calm compared to the mood of the people.
Shock and outrage was seen on the faces of many. Reichspolizei were forced to muster around the few mosques and moslem areas in the larger cities to prevent angry Lavenrunzians from mobbing the places.
In the city of Mirenburg, disaster relief was arriving, but hundreds were dead, thousands wounded, homeless and traumatized.
The greatest fury of all was reserved for the fact that this happened after Empress Aurora and Chancellor Mirbach had visited the Reich.

Zaid Munir ran a shop. A sign on the window read 'Halal Meat Sold Here' but he also sold candy, magazines, basic household goods like toiletries and soap. His store was near a busy bus station, and his business was brisk.
Right now, he was doing the cash changeover for his younger brother Fadlan, who would do the night shift while he went to mosque. He observed that there were a few customers coming in, probably off a shift at one of the factories that were in the industrial district the bus station serviced. One of them was a young fair haired girl...not model perfect but still the image of Lavenrunzian prettiness, her ski jacket fitting her athletic young body nicely, her breasts roundly filling it. She was carrying a bag of potato chips. "Hello," she said, "Just this and a pack of Player's, please."
"Certainly, Fraulein." he said cheerfully. But then he was feeling a horrible bone rattling burning--he couldn't think, couldn't breathe! A sharp electrical smell was in the air! He looked at the gun under the counter as he lay stunned but the other customers! were rushing up--was it a robbery? A mob?
They were too disciplined for that, moving to the door to the backroom...weapons out, covering positions in the room...
One of them looked down at him as he moaned, and at his brother, who stood with his hands up warily.
"Reichspolizei." he said coldly. "Herr Munir, you and your family are under arrest on the charge of conspiracy to commit murder and treason."
"Found 'em!" said a voice from the back.
The officer glanced in and whistled low. A bunch of boxes of pickles and other condiments was revealed to be full of blocks of plastique.

Admiral Keyserling turned pale for a moment, receiving her new orders. She got confirmation from her intelligence command, and then commanded that carrier groups Alfarkoenigin,Childeric, Meistersinger, Brunnhilde and a submarine squadron divert from the fleet and head in the direction of the Channel Islands. Radio silence was ordered; the only direct communication would be by relay of ISA satellite.
It was night in the South Atlantic. 4 carriers, 8 cruisers, 12 destroyers, 16 frigates, 4 submarines, and 4 support ships moved off through dark seas and rain. By morning, they would rendevous with 4 minehunters.
ISA satellites also swept over the area of the Reich that North Star, St. Dominic and Iesus Christi existed in.
Her instructions were that she was not under any circumstances to do anything but keep watch outside the two hundred mile limit.

And how come you do it after that the people of Lavenrunz has cast of the oppression of the Nephilim? Obviously this is an elven trick, casting a shadow of doubt on the people of the Reich just because one spawn of Satan clearly has been infiltrated by evil of the elfs. This ends now! When Abdullah angrily tried to defend her, they beat him unconscious--then revived him while he was subdued so he could see her scream and beg as she was raped by the youths. They insisted that she must be enjoying it--why otherwise would a decent woman dress like a whore?
