The Eldar Fleet appeared from nowhere, filling the void around the Mars' orbit with the slim forms of their fireflies-like silouettes. They surrounded the airspace above the Melkorian colony, choosing transport as their targets...

Aboard the Nimloth, the Flagship of the Second Aelosian Fleet, the Admiral opened all the comlinks. "Prepare the bombers and load the torpedoes, launch the torpedo salvo first, choose the transports as their targets. Then launch the bombers to clean whatever is left in the area. Avoid the engagement with the larger vessels, just be assure of destroy their supplies line", he said, pushing several bright eldar runes to charge the Aelos Last Wish engine just in case anything nasty could happens.

The NightShade Class Destroyers place themselves in the first line of the fleet, opening their torpedo tubes and launching a volley of well placed missiles against the rear of the Melko's ships, then they were replaced by the Eclipse Class Cruisers, the Carriers of the Eldar Fleet, launching their bombers to make a raid against the huge vessels of the ARDA's fleet. Even the Nimloth, the biggest ship, launched the ordnance at the enemy, the ace pilots searching for their target with the plasma bombs and the fusion charges loaded.

Their objetive were the transport and the supplies and supports ships, avoiding the contact with the big combat vessels of the Angband power...

GDT/DA/UI allied fleets have engaged the Ineffable armada in Martian orbit over both the North and South poles :?

I got a feeling its gonna get really crowded up there

In trojan orbit, far behind Mars, several tesseracts rip through the fabric of space and disgorge their contents back into realspace. Aboard the President-General-class supercarrier Jagernath Sky Marshal Kioko Yamanouchi fights off the momentary vertigo that accompanies a tesseract jump.

"Tactical, status of the Task Force?"

"3rd TCF reporting ops normal, 4th TCF, ops normal. Ma'am, Task Force Sentinel has completed the Jump evoluotion."

"Outstanding. Put the Task Force at alert-5."

"Acting, Ma'am. Orders recieved and confirmed at all stations."

About time we got to get out and stretch our legs. To have our first operational deployment be to a situation this volatile though...My crews are outstanding, but hopefully this won't be a trial by fire. Wait and watch, run a few drills, go home alive. Simple enough, I hope.

Yamanouchi's orders were simple, just the way she liked them.

"Comms, open a wideband transmission, in the clear."

"Channel open, Ma'am."

As his ship weaved through the enemy fleets, Admiral Klack called up a display from the long range surveiallance ships, avoiding the battle. He could see the Ineffable craft were vastly outnumbered. Further afield, he looked for allied ships, the Melkor fleet, the LCS fleet, anyone. But he could see no-one.
The Tarasovkians heavy guns began lancing out. He could see heavy cruisers being blasted in half. Looking at a viewscreen, the image being recorded by a camera on the hull of a ship at the south pole, he could see an arm of a DSA floaing in space, missiles drifting out of it forming a small minefield.
This was madness, he thought. The fleets could hold the enemy off for a short while, but they had incoming reinforcements while the Ineffable fleets did not. He didn't like this. He didn't like it at all.
He moved across the bridge, steadying himself as the ship lurched from a fusion cannon blast, and approached the com system. He didn't like it, but he was going to have to contact General McGraw for help. He didn't like that man, he was always sitting in his luxury quarters on Leda, giving Klack orders while never endangering himself in any way. Nevertheless, Klack needed the first fleet as well if he was going to survive.
Just as he reached the system, however, the viewscreen adjacent to him indicated the arrival of nearly four hundred new ships.
The incoming message was played;
"Silver...crackle...headed back to Earth...bzzz...15 seconds...ceasefire...withdrawl. Failure...destruction..."
The message, although distorted by the DA jamming signals, wass till clear enough to be understood.
About a quarter of the fleet ceased firing except for point defence lasers immediately. Admiral Klack stopped, thinking. Seconds ticked away, ten in total. Having reached a decision, he ordered the captain of the ship to dstop the attack. Grasping the adjacent microphone, he broadcast this message to the fleet:
"This is Admiral Klack to all ships. We're fighting a losing battle, it's suicide. Cease fire, engage bubble drives and proceed at max speed to Leda. I have a slight regime change in order. Klack out."

With this, about half the Ineffable ships almost instantly disappeared, reappearing seconds later between Jupiter and the asteroid belt. An eighth, seeing the departing fleet although having not received the message followed suit, rendezvousing with the fleeing ships. Fighters, which had no time to get close enough to the capital ships for the jump, after realising what had happened flew towards the asteroid belt and the bases there, wondering what to do next.
The remaining quarter had no wish to disobey The Great Ineffable Bob, who had trusted them with the defence of their ally Melkor. However, seeing the fleeing of much of the fleet and how vastly outnumbered they were now, they reluctantly had to comply as well. Jumping to orbit over The Silver Turtle, they conferred aboard the STSS Enterprise, a Jovian Storm class heavy cruiser, and under the command of the Enterprise's commanding officer Colonel Jack O'Neill they sent a message to the Ineffable High Command, telling them what had happened around Mars.

TSF 1st Battlegroup,
High Orbit over Mars.

- Sire, they have ceased fire.

- What?

- The hostile ships have ceased fire and are reforming on a new vector.

- All calibers, cease fire!

The order of the Leib-Admiral was heard loud and clear. The "Mechta" immediately stopped unleashing death upon the TST fleet, followed by its escort. On the other side of the planet, the "Plamya" also forwarded the order. I a matter of a minute, the entire Taraskovyan Space Expeditionary Detachment ceased fire and watched as the hostile ships fled the battlefield.

- Gentlemen... we have victory!

A triple "Hooray!" resonated through the entire ship. The Leib-Admiral smiled when the BSI's voice resonated.

- Sire, unknown group of ships on approach vectors. They have opened fire at the hostile assets just before the latter fled. Orders?

- Contact the DA and UI command and ask what they think about it. Pilot crew! Set coordinates on interception vectors. Forward order to the 2nd Battlegroup.

- Yes, Sire!

The Dragon's fleet arrived in orbit of Mars after a comparatively short and uneventful trip. In the sepulcure of the fleet flagship, the C'tan watched reports from the ship's mind. the perigee of their highly elliptical orbit was set to just above Angmar, where they would begin station keeping manouvers, and begin bombardment of the general area. Unfortunately, it meant that they would have to overfly the Menelmacari colonies. The Dragon did what could only be described as a frown, though it was entirely internal. His orders were quite explicit, 'enough secrecy,' he was to announce his intent and alliegance. Casually drifting his hand over a sensor, and making a complex gesture, the results of which could be seen on the magnetic displays hovering about him, opening various communications channels, mostly aimed at the colony below.

"This is the C'tan battlegroup Vigilant, requesting permission to overfly Menelmacari Carnil to take up a bombardment position above Angmar, please respond."

Kajal
06-02-2004, 06:13
OOC: The quoted text is Kajali fleet movements from the other thread. Just thought I'd put it in the right spot. ^_^;;

“Sir, all stations report ready for subspace hop.”

“Good. Has the 4th fleet confirmed?”

“Yes. They await your command.”

“Execute Subspace Hop!”

The Martian Kajali 1st fleet disappeared from where it was, reappearing in the north, joining the battle with the other Martian nations. At the exact moment, the Kajali 4th fleet too performed an in system jump, reappearing in the south.

A grand total of 420 ships, most of them small, agile frigates, joined each battle, and all the ships relied mainly on their speed and agility to stay out of harm’s way, whilst spewing forth bolts of plasma supplemented by kinetic missiles, small fighters, and attack bombers that would make their runs against the enemy’s capital ships.

It did not take the Kajali long to get the fleet into the rolling, evasive tactics that personified their fleet.

“ZM-426, adjust heading to 423.645.9 mark 9…”

In both battles, the Kajali starships strafed and circled the enemy, pouring fire into the backsides of their ships whenever they could. The tactic worked relatively well, as both fleets remained intact, for the most part. To prevent the enemy from predicting where all their ships would be at any given moment, the navigational AIs on the ships coordinated with each other to plot seemingly random trajectories that were anything but, while keeping their own ships from colliding with each other.

It was a most effective tactic indeed. And, in the case that it became necessary… each ship maintained a velocity high enough that they could simply stop circling, and literally vanish to the other side of the planet with the speed they had acquired.

---

Kajali fleet losses in their initial engagement are relatively low. Each fleet should still number at least 400, perhaps less, due to the relative fragility of the Kajali ships. Those numbers will mostly be small frigates, but there are one or two capship casualties by now as well.

As the enemy disengaged, the Kajali vessels made no move to pursue them, although the first order following the rather abrupt end to the battle came quickly.

"All vessels, enter phase two positions."

Both fleets ceased their "rolling wall" tactic, as the admiral had put it, and formed into two distinct battlegroups, both of which were somewhat smaller then before. The fleet over the north numbered 342, and the other was 364. The losses from both were mostly frigates, but they were short a few destroyers as well.

"Fleet Command, 4th fleet reports ready..."

"Status on the 1st fleet?"

"Sustained larger then expected losses to the frigates, but that's about it. The remaining ships are largely undamaged."

"Good. Stand by..."

Fleet Command sent a message to all those nations that could be affected by certain vessels passing over them.

"This is Kajal Mars Fleet Command, requesting flyover permission to allow orbital assets to take up bombardment positions over Angmar and Gorgoroth."

And then, they sent messages out to the other fleets that would be involved.

"C'tan battlegroup Vigilant, this is the Kajal Mars 1st fleet, requesting navigational telemetry for the purposes of coordinating fleet movements to avoid any... mishaps. Be advised that the Kajali 4th fleet will intersect this orbit occasionally as well."

The Void Dragon felt strangely calm as he went about his task, though he did not know it it was the subtle influence of Orm Embar working on him, calmness and apathy however, were quite normal to him, and to his troops, emotions of any form were alien to them. They were being hailed by the Kajali ships, curiously similar to eldar designs, but not actually the same. ((Am I right? Certainly your website would suggest so.)) The Dragon gestured again, and spoke, "Kajal Mars Fleet, as you wish, we are now tight beam transmitting positional and firing telemetery to you."

The ship itself, began co-ordinating with its bretheren, and a number of weapons, quickly prepared on the way to Mars, totaling one hundred twenty eight. Each of the weapons was an antigrav spike weapon, similar to those used by the Menelmacari, though these weapons had numerous extra characteristics. They were broardly similar in power to twenty megaton fission devices, but without the radiation pulse, instead creating an overpressure pulse capable of killing almost all humans within a radius of seven point four kilometers and casuing widespread destruction to non millitary structures out to nineteen kilometers by using powerful and one use AG systems. They lacked the radiation and heat of true nuclear weapons and although there would be a blindingly bright pulse of light as they detonated, there would be no fireball. The ships released the first explatory wave of four of the weapons on a ballistic arc set to bring them airbusting somewhere above Minas Morion itself. The weapons were pyramidal in form, and were covered in a reasonably thick heat shield to protect the delicate mechanisms within from the friction of an atmospheric entry speed of eight point five kilometers per second, though friction would decrease that(( Apparently a reasonable BM RV re-entry speed with modern tech, (http://www.fas.org/nuke/intro/missile/basics.htm)so Melkor should be able to shoot the first wave down easily enough. They'll not detonate if hit BTW. They will not, for you martains, have any lasting effects on the enviroment, they're carefully designed not to.))

Kjaskar, on board the Kleid aus Rosen, smiled, although no- one was there to see it.

With the TST forces retreating, They had achived what they wanted. Although it wasn`t quite clear who had had the higher casualities, the strategic result was clearly a victory.

Quickly, the messages to IU & the GDT ships were sent, congratulating them to the victory they had just scored.

Unknown to the TST forces, their retreat was even more useful than they might have thought, since the higher- ups on earth were already thinking about a pre- emptive strike against Leda... something that was by now out of question.

Although quite a few vessels had been heavily damaged, or even been destroyed, all CPU cores except of two could be rescued, thusly keeping their pilots alive.

The damage was... considerable high, but it wouldn`t take too long for repairs... repairs that could be done while they continued on their way...

Now, the only problem were the unidentified ships coming in from several directions...

Getting the Taraskovian message, the answer came quickly:

"They are unidentified, and they have their gunports open. If they do not identify within ten seconds, we suggest opening fire."

OOC Two things to reply to here I guess first orm Embar.

IC for the few Eldar that actually remained on Tor Yvresse-Mars or had returned, the emotions where fought off, a life time of training made the Eldar easily able to defend themselves against outside influances. That is not to say it had no effect but where a flood of emotions was ment to occur, the Eldar felt a small trickle it was the others, the Mon-Keigh in the colony that where the most effected.

A Raging sea of hate, a demand for war, for destruction upon the heads of the hated foes. Riots sprang up across the colony, only to be put down by quickly drafted Eldar and a few other officers who resisted the rage. The Colony was in turmoil, gardens where smashed, and houses burnt. A few tourists who looked maybe, slightly, like they where from their hated foes where taken from the streets, their screams echoed throughout the Colonies... Later the Hate that spewed out onto the streets would be a time of great shame to the colony, but not today.

The Necron Fleet in Orbit...

'Possible response do we call in the fleets?'
'No, orders from the council we suspect that this is a ruse, we discovered a tracking device within the returned vessel from menelmacar, we suspect the Deciever hopes to draw our fleet away from the Craftworld....'

'So we just watch, and prey then?'
'Indeed we watch and prey, may Ishar protect us.'

Randomn conversation between two colony admins.

"General, patrols indicate that a starship as slowed to sublight speed, on an intercept vector with Himalia. It seems to be a freighter loaded with ore."
"Himalia's just a civilian colony, there're no shipyards there. Has it identified itself?"
"No sir. It's not slowing either."
"Damn. 670 million people live there, if that ship hits it it'll be disastrous. What action have the patrol ships taken?"
"They're obstructing the ships path, preparing to open fire if it doesn't deviate from its course."
"Get another two battlegroups round there. Have the heavy cruisers tow the craft, if possible. If that doesn't work, have the DSAs blast the thing apart and the frigates vaporise the pieces."

The sky seemed to explode when the laser- triggered fusion nukes as the drohnes exploded, creating dozens of high- energy beams of different kinds, melting through the enemy ships, slicing them apart.
means that you are actually detonating nuclear bombs in Martian space, or if you're just describing bomb-pumped lasers, because if such an explosion isn't completely contained in a laser burst, it's going to require a response from the local Snel.

If you're detonating nukes you're detonating nukes. Bomb pumped lasers merely harness some of the energy from the nuke, but the nuke still goes off.

Scanning of unknown ships and their parameters indicate with 96% probability that the ships in question are originated from the Martian Confederacy.

Request comparison with your data.

Weren’t those ‘Martian Confederates’ in ‘hostile relations’ with your allies of New York and New Jersey?
I suspect that the stated confederates would try to take revenge upon your ships.
Suggest considering their ‘attack’ of the TST fleets when the entire battle was ‘over’ and won by our joint effort as a diversion.

The answer came soon enough:

Your data is correct, and we came to a similar conclusion. Probability of an attack by the Martian confederacy upon our fleets 92%. Suggest opening fire. Repositioning of ships & formations will begin immediately. Further data see attachments.

The incoming ships of martian federation/ ADK origin, which was in conflict with ADK only days ago. 92% probability of them intending to fire upon us as 'revenge'. Repositioning of our ships and formations begins immediately. Suggest opening fire. Further data see attachments.

ooc: The following post was made on irc, with me, Tarasovka, and ADK sort of putting it together.

ic:

At the Angstian fleet:

The message from the Martian confederacy ships was heard... unfortunately, something else was... noticed... Their turrets begun to aim at the main fleet... Quickly, other messages were sent, to check with the Taraskovyan & United Indiastan ships... The general idea was simple: "They target us, their message is a deception. Suggest opening fire immediately."

The response of the GDT fleet was pretty... well, obvious:

"All calibers to combat! Prepare to open fire on command. Gunnery crews, synchronise with DA fleet!" The order of the Admiral was heard clear through the bridge and relayed to all other TSF ships in orbit. It was the first ever major battle of the TSF and he will make sure it will be remembered as a victory.

The ADK fleet realised the new situation soon enough, though. Xero Tora yelled out orders as it was appearent that the allied vessels had not accepted his request. "Contact the carriers and have them launch all their gunships and fighters. Prepare to go to General Battle Language and open those damned missile tubes!"

Meanwhile, at the GDT fleet, the main nose cone N-PBW of the TSFS "Mechta", charged at 70%, released its deadly content upon the approaching, now officially hostile, fleets. On the other side of the planet, the TSFS "Plamya" followed the lead. "Continue with main calibers! Ready secondary calibers! Brace for incoming fighters." "Yes, Sire!"

In the DA- sector, the ships begun to move again, changing their formation... Twenty ships in the south, fifty in the north... The idea was simple, taking out the smaller group in the south, then the group in the north... They had to be fast to prevent being overpowered by the other ADK ships in martian orbit... It was still a while until the reinforcements would arrive. Quickly, the plan was forwarded to their allies, while the southern and the northern group merged, forming something like a giant, threedimensional basket, aiming their coilguns and heavy energy weapons at the twenty ADK ships while the martian shipyards weapons begun firing at the northern group of ADK vessels, trying to slow them down, to make sure their own forces have enough time...

Meanwhile, the TSFS "Mechta" of the GDT fleet continued to release one beam after an other on the enemy fleets. Every three seconds, a new charge would leave the nose cone and direct itself at the enemy fleet. The four smaller N-PBW's were still awaiting their time. The 2nd Battlegroup, led by the TSFS "Plamya" covered the advance of the DA vessels by following the Mechta's example. The two Thylacins were firing on crossed vectors, making it a bit more difficult for the enemy ships to anticipate the next incoming wave. In the meanwhile, the fighters in the Spines of the Thylacins were being readied. The Emerald Spires were ready to repel any incoming ships and the frigates were doing their jobs.

The 'KBZ-12' Class frigates, or the 'furballs' prepared their cannons, missile tubes and gods-know-what to repel any incoming fighter assault, while the 'NBPA-23' Class frigates deployed the combat and 'special' drones.

The ADK forces answered soon enough. The Confederate vessels broke off spreading themselves into groups of three tens of thousands of kilometers apart. They dove down and fired their pulse lasers and pulse cannons into the Tarasokvian vessels. The Upholder class gunships took aim and strafted the Thylacins from a long distance with their pulse lasers.

The southern battle group dove out from under the Angstian basket of death that attempted to trap them. The fired homing plasma bombs and kinetic missiles and the dove on top of the basket the ion frigates firing their super heavy pulse cannons and ion cannons renlentlessly

The Angstian vessels begun moving forward, accelerating quickly, continuing their fire upon the ADK fleet, watching explosions and pieces of depris quite literally flooding space. The plasma bombs proved to be fairly inefficient, the giant electromagnetic fields around the Angstian ships dispersing the plasma. The Ion frigates however, depending on theirs and the Angstian ships charge, were able to do some damage... nonetheless, thre- dimensional attacks proved to be dangerous... And this was the moment the Indiastani vessels in the south begun moving.

The Indiastani vessels, being completely and totally superior in their numbers (500 ships), quite literally created a wall of fire slicing through the ADK ships, enforcing a reign of terror, closing the trap. Now, the ADK vessels had to deal with two fronts while the shipyards main guns still fired at the fifty ADK vessels coming from the north

However, the GDT fleet faced problems due to the surprisingly heavy ADK defences:

"Incoming gunships! Approach vectors at..." The BSI finished its phrase accompanied by a miriad of blasts on the shield of the Thylacin. "Blades to battle!"

Inside of the Spine, the pilots of the Blade Class gunships directed their craft to the hangar doors and flew out, immediately charging the Upholders. They were accompanied by Wolf Class Fighters, as well as two 'KBZ-12' Class Close defence/support frigates. The Blades charged the Upholders, opening fire from their plasma cannons, laser cannons, shooting salves of missiles at everything marked as 'enemy' on their screens.

In the south the Confederate vessels were surronded and The Na-Emperor Ra Tora was infuriated. "All Alpha Omicron FTL Zeta Upsilon ickoto arazhim averno Omega." When translated from Battle Language it read: "All Capital class vessels, engage your FTL drives. Smaller ships, return to base. Everyone return to station Omega."

The Confederate vessels formed a sphere, still firing their guns. They opened a jump point and used the vortexes as a protective shld and jumped out of the trap. Their numbers were less than 25%.

The two battle groups in the north continued moving constantly, firing long range weapons into the Taraskovayin battle fleet. "Launch the gravdrones." Xero Tora commanded, forgetting the need for battle langauge.

Panels in the armor belts of the capital class vessels opened up and hundreds of small graviton emitting drones spewed out. They went in and formed a sphere around the Taraskovayn 1st Battle Group. They activated their graviton emmitters and bombarded the enemy vessels ruthlessly with gravity dozens of times stronger than that of the Earth. They left the Upholders to die.

In the DA sectors, things were about to change...

So far, nothing had happened in the north... Well, not much. And the Indiastani fleet wasn`t exactly near enough for this... But NOW, their time came...

While the heavy artillery of the shipyard was continuing it`s fire, sort of wondering why it wasn`t attacked, the drohnes finally acted. About three dozen of them immediately exploded, each of them emitting dozens of energy beams heading for the ADK capital ships.

The fighters jumped forward, accelerating quickly... aiming at the ADK drohnes, firing at them... The Angstian ships were too far away to use their point defence against them, however, they came near... They were drohnes, not knowing it was their likely death, unlike the Angstian capships... but they obeyed their orders, or rather, the drugs they got before going into battle, to make them fearless warriors... Death? A joy.

A few fighters risked more... Well, not exactly 'risking', since they were not sentient... heading forward, they played 'bait' for the gravdrohnes, so stand in their way, protecting the larger Tarasokovyan vessels.

However, the GDT fleet was about to face horrors unknown to mankind...

"Sire, gravital anomaly detected. Incoming!" The Leib-Admiral expected everything but that. The fighters on the front line got smashed to scrap metal before they could say 'Ouch', the two 'KBZ-12' frigates did not hold for long before nothing remained of them. "Detach packs! All Emerald Spires regroup!" Silence fell over the bridge for a second... detaching the packs... "Sire, also the chin packs?" "No! NOW!!!" The BSI reacted immediately. It was a synthetic being, always obeying orders. On the back of the ship, the huge 'Saddle Packs' detached, their propulsion drives getting them far from the ship's core. The frigates, sent on the frontline were now totally smashed. An Emerald Spire vanished. The remaining Emerald Spires regrouped around the Thylacin's core.

Just as the impulse from the gravdrones hit the saddlepacks, which acted as a shield worth of a good thousand lives of the technical crew, the remaining Thylacin and 5 Emerald Spires engaged into an FTL jump, hoping to all Seven Gods that the DA anti-FTL drones would not bust them to pieces. It was the first ever major battle of the TSF and it lost the bulk of the 1st Battlegroup in the matter of seconds... Countless lives were lost... That day would be remembered... forever...

The Confederate vessels broke off as the gravdrones were crushed by the gravitons they had emmitted. They had found a weakness in the enemy, and they had best exploit it. Now was a time for rest in the combat for these two battle groups. Weapons needed to be reloaded and smaller ships replaced. But around the Khristian Omega Station, things were differnet.

"Dammit!" A Khristian admiral slammed his fist on his desk. "Hmmm... I have an idea..." he thought aloud. He issued orders through the intercom on his desk. "All Ion Frigates and dreadnaughts, report to the Jump Gate immediately." The jump gate moved closer to the Omega Station, well within weapons range of the massive shipyard.

A vortex soon brewed within the gate as it opened a jump point... a jump point near the DA and Taraskovyan vessels and that damnable shipyard of theirs. The station let loose a volley of plasma missiles through the gate, aimed for whatever vessels maybe on the other side. The missile bombardment continued for awhile and then the Ion Frigates and Dreadnaughts began to move towards the gate...

At the DA fleet, Kjaskar was less than satisfied. One wing had been taken out, and this was... well, bad news. However, the Angstian ships still accelerated, and now, they were finally ready for the next strike... although only about 63 capital ships remained for this part of the battle... First of all, Finally, the electronic warfare begun. Showing the ADK sensors false targets, flooding them with information, blocking their communication... Chaos had to be ensured.

They opened fire... Even more drohes exploded, their energy beams slicing even more of their ships... Soon, soon this battle would be decided. They, the ships moved in front of the drohnes, their guns firing en masse... while a group of three ships broke up.

It was a living hell. While Indiastani ships followed the Angstian vessels (slowly), a rain of energy weapons and kinetics hit both sides, the debris of the exploding ships hitting their bordering vessels...

However, while the Angstian ships were following the ADK vessels, the jumpgate opened... it was close, nearly at the edge of the drohne`s range... but still inside it, and three drohnes released their chatic particle flood...

The drohnes vanished from existance, now powerless pieces of debris, while the gate was crushed... so were the missiles inside the gate...

While this happened, the three vessels that boke off started their own attack... They changed their direction, calculated the course of their kinetics... and them, five salvo´s of of fifteen kinetics were fired, aimed at the ADK space station...

Slowly, they came near, one could watch them, since they would need about fifty seconds to arrive...

At the GDT fleet, or what remained of it, the "Plamya" was continuing to fire at the fleeing Confederate ships. On its screens, the 1st vanished entirely, leaving no trace, without any warning. That could have meant two things: either they made an emergency FTL jump, either there weren't any 'they' anylonger. In both situations, it was R triple D.

The Admiral of the 2nd Battlegroup tried to establish a contact with the "Mechta", but only the "Sila", an Emerald Spire cruiser from the 1st responded. "Have sufferred heavy losses. Had to retreat. "Mechta" damaged. Losses unknown. Retreated to Mainland." The Admiral slammed his fist on the handle of his chair. During a brief moment, a vortex appeared near to the formation but was immediately shut by the DA drones. The 2nd Battlegroup went on with its duties of covering the DA formations.

Meanwhile, the ADK forces had to react on the new threat...

"Sir, long range sensor buoys are picking up incoming enemy missiles headed our way." A random lieutenant stated to the Khristian admiral. "Damn. Get six Toran defense frigates in that direction. I want The Ion Frigates and Dreadnaughts to attempt to fire through the jumpgate again. The enemy shut the vortex down somehow."

The five dreadnaughts and the twenty-five Ion Frigates opened their own jump gates this time, pouring missiles and kinetics through the points along with several plasma bombs.

The retreating vessels of the 4th and 5th battle groups were running out of fuel and still had a long way to go. six more vessels had been lost, now all that was left to do was to stand and fight, while the FTL drives recharged.

In the DA- controlled sectors, the ships were nervous. All of them, they were connected to each other... felt what the others felt... And at this moment, they felt pain. But they had to continue... And they continued

While the kinetics continued to head towards the Khristian space station, the jump gates opened. About thirty different jumpgates, to be correct... And only six drohnes were in range, two of them hitting the same jumpgate... so, twenty- five jumpgates stayed open... and out of them came the disaster.

The Khristian missiles weren´t a problem, the point defence of the station being fairly efficient. Although the debris hit it, but that wasn´t all that usual, and most definitely not a real threat. The plasma bombs did have some effects, but it were mostly surface burns, nothing more... again, the electromagnetic fields did their best...

The real problem were the kinetics. It was hard to aim through a jumpgate, and many missed... but the ones who hit proved to be a major problem, crushing the three hulls of the station, devestating a ship dock, destroying two (empty) frighters...

Fire and death, everywhere... the reparatures would be hard, and long. Although the station wasn`t destroyed, the damage was... horrible, and many, too many of the 150000 people living there died...

However, the kinetics aimed at the Khristian space station were now near to hit their target... and meanwhile, the Angstian fleet finally, after loosing some ground before, catched up with the ships that attacked from the north. Again, the fire of death erupted, the battle continued... No one knowing that it had been nothing but an unfortunate missunderstanding...

The ADK fleet`s defense frigates fired furiously at the kenitecs as the tore through the vaccum of space towards the Omega station. The lasers got a few but about 50% of the kinetics continued on towards the Omega complex. The defense pylons of the station opened up with hundreds of pulse lasers slicing at the kinetics in an attempt to eradicate these deadly projectiles. Only eight of them were left. Plasma cannons shot out, getting about four of them.

One slammed into the massive station on it's right side. It eradicated the quintouple thick armor belts and peirced the hull, venting part of the crew area to space as several hundred bodies flew out into the void. Another hit a construction yard causing an explosion that crippled communications in the nearby area.

The third hit a teitary command tower, sending the spire collapsing into the superstructure below it. And the last one rammed itself into a defense pylon, breaking it off and leaving a gap in the defenses of the Omega complex.

At the GDT fleet, the battle continued...

"Main Caliber to combat!" "Cannon ready!" "Open fire!" A new beam left the Thylacin's nose cone. But this time, it was not to hit one of the retreating Confederate ships. No, this time the beam went straight into one of the vortexes... the entire 2nd Battlegroup positioned itself on an aiming vector and unloaded salves of missiles, particle beams and even plasma pellets. The latter ones were mostly shot by some enthusiastic Wolf pilots, even if some of the cruisers and frigates added with their heavy plasma guns. All the aforementioned 'bringers of death' entered the vortexes...

The effectson the ADK forces were visible immediately. An Ion Frigate was instantly vaporized as the N-PBW beam tore through hyperspace. Several other ships also took damage as the Taraskovayn vessels fired through hyperspace. The Khristian Ion Frigates and the Toran-Byblos Dreadnaughts responded, pouring plasma bombs and kinetics through the gates. They unleashed hundreds of missiles and laser beams. Then they moved, moving ever so slowly into hyperspace.

The 4th and 5th battle groups fired upon their assaulters. Ion Frigates unloaded their Super Heavy Pulse cannons into enemy vessels. (Note that the SHPCs are 10 feet long and 2 feet wide and fire on average 25 gigawatts) They also unleashed their Ion cannons into the Angstian vessels. Soon they could jump away from this madness. Today was a sad day indeed.

The battle continued, endless, death was upon them all... Death didn´t know enemies, nor friends...

Only victims.

Plasma guns, lasers, kinetics... ships being sliced apart by th destructive powers only the most twisted minds could think off... But humanity had created them, and humanity punished itself for it`s deeds... Finally, finally, the battle ended, the ADK ships jumped, Leaving a field of death an destruction, a giant graveyard in space.

Wait... aren't they the same thing?

If you're detonating nukes you're detonating nukes. Bomb pumped lasers merely harness some of the energy from the nuke, but the nuke still goes off.
(Er, actually I left out a word there, now that I read it again. Should say "detonating nuclear bombs free in Martian space". The Snel don't care if all of the energy of the bomb is contained in a laser, they'll just get very pissed off if a nuke is blown up all by itself, spreading Evil Radiation of Doom all over the surrounding space.)

OOC: Sorry to pollute, but...

Thats just the point. Bomb pumped lasers only use part of their energy in the laser. I would call 10% a very high estimate. That would leave the other 90+% as a conventional nuclear explosion.

Now, they could be clean bombs, and/or they might be only tactical nukes, but most of the energy is NOT "contained".

Well after the battle, Sudhara recieved the tdamage report. The Grand Fleet escaped the worst of it, but the Advance Squadron under Noboru had been badly mauled by the Silver Turtle fleet. Seven Omega-IIs had been taken out of commission, and another five Warlocks were lost. Also, a total of twenty sixDeimos Attack Cruisers had been hulked, and nearly four hundred fighters had not reported back. About 35% of the crews had been recovered so far, so that put loss at about... eight and a half thousand dead or missing. Tugs were brought in, to tow the hulks of the Eiko, Hama, Natsuko, and others to the dry docks at Gammak for rebuilding or scrapping. But still, even these tremendious losses made little difference to the effectiveness of the fleet. New fighters were assembled form the spares each ship carried, and pilots were brought in from Earth. Repairs were made to the damaged vessels, while those that couldn't continue the fight without serious overhaul retired to Gammak. Readyness was maintained, while the fleet prepared to move.

A soft glow on 9 ships surrounding Ares Station grew quickly to a harsh brightness, and those vessels moved. Headed for Earth, they left only 6 compatriots with the depot, alone in their part of the Martian sky.

In Sol orbit, just ahead of Mars, 4 other ships moved to join them on their journey, and 2 more at distant Venus made headway to meet them around Earth.

It hadn't been too long ago that Wazzu had publically shown its ability to accelerate ships quickly in its tests of superluminal travel. Now, it confirmed speculation that its warships had long hidden the same power. It would not take days to get to Earth, not anymore.

AFAIK (But i`m likely wrong, physics isn´t my strong side) the gamma rays created by the fusion reaction shouldn´t be too much of a hassle, seeing as, despite their long range, they have to cross a few thousand, or tens of thousands, kilometers, not to mention that the mars colonists (myself included) seem to be able to withstand the standard radiation in space, so really...

TSFS “Plamya”,
TSF 2nd Battlegroup,
High Orbit over Mars,
Mars.

- Sire, the Confederate forces have issued what appears to be a negative reply to the ultimatum.

Admiral Karachentsev glanced at the ‘Leave Mars’ line and grinned maliciously.

- Establish secure uplink with the “Svoboda”.
- Yes, Sire.

The Admiral sat back in his armchair, a little holoscreen appearing out of the right armrest. In a second, the face of Admiral Golosov, commander of the 7th Battlegroup appeared. The two men, who knew each other ever since they served as lieutenants on the first TSF ships to be ever built, nodded to each other in greeting and smiled.

- They have rejected our conditions.
- Yes, I know, we have received the data. We are already on our way, just hold on. We are also bringing some friends along.
- Make sure you arrive while there is still vodka left.
- No way are we going to miss such a party. Until we meet again!
- Until we meet again…

Karachentsev said the traditional TSF farewell, a little something ‘borrowed’ by the Space Fleet from the Naval Forces back on Earth. The only 'modification' being that the sailors always said: "Until we meet again on the waves." Golosov and Karachentsev saluted each other and the holoscreen turned off. The Admiral watched as the officers went on with their duties all over the bridge, listened to the reports by the BSI, whose synthetic voice softly resonated through the entire volume of the command deck. He grinned as he gave new orders. It was always a pleasure to command such a crew. He thought Golosov's words over again... They were bringing friends along. Karachentsev grinned again, as he was 99,9999% sure he knew who would Golosov bring along.

- All units to maximum readiness. Prepare for renewed hostilities.

He did not yet give the order to open fire…

Sinclair looked at the answer of the artian confederacy...

He had been reluctant regarding the matter, he would have given them peace, since war wasn´t exactly what DA needed right now... The forces were needed elsewhere, there was much, very much going on, and DA wasn´t especially unsympathetic regarding the war the Martian Confederacy started against Melkor, after all, they had lost about 40000 people to the Melkorian nukes...

But this wasn´t an answer, this was an insult. And the Martian Confederacy would pay for it. Their foolishness, their aggression, their insanity...

They would fall.

And so, he gave green light for the impending attack... Not without thanking the Martian Confederacy for their 'Kind words', and that they would 'think about it'.

---

In the vast void of space, far, far closer to Mars than the troop transporters coming from the Moon, the ships were still heading to Mars with almost insane speed... without using their solar sails, though. With the battle mere minutes away, saving fuel would have been the 'wrong' idea.

The ships, or rather, their human cores, their CPUs, saw Mars growing, rapidly, the red planet rising with incredible speed...

There, it`s two moons, Deimos and Phobos...

They were still far, far away, too far...

But only for mere seconds.

This is the advantage of this kind of attack. No one using real space travel rather than FTL approaches Mars without decelerating first... With one exception: Them. The surprise should give them a major advantage, although it wasn`t guaranteed...

The disadvantage was just as obvious: They couldn´t deploy drones beforehand, nor could they continue their attack... It was a one shot and run thing... hard enough not to crash on Mars or its moons, anyway.

There, the base of the Martian Confederacy, together with a lot of ships gathered around it...

The vessels communicated with each other, 125 ships, their size ranging from about 80 to 550 meters, in perfect formation. In it´s center, the Mephisto, the largest, and newest ship of the fleet, and the only one armed with graviton guns.

Now, the problem with ships controlled by human CPUs is that they tend to talk... a lot. Just like during this attack.

Veitstanz: I`ve got a clear shot, take that, bitches!
Geist des Kriegers: He... please, your language...
Veitstanz: Oh, right... F*cking bitches!
Geist des Kriegers: *sigh*
Aufstand: Reached firing position... Annnnnnnnd they saw us. Incoming fire.
Sabbat: Eat kinetics, fools!
Das Opfer: Hey.. nice one. Right through it`s center... Shiny explosion.
Sanctus: Watch it, there someth... nevermind... damn, I will miss him.
Liebeszauber: Hey, that one was for me!
Kruzifix: Search for your own, fool.
Liebeszauber: Wanna me firing at you?
Kain: Hey, whats up with Mephisto`s gravguns?
Traum vom Tod II: Malfunctioning, I think. Heck, they`re a new technology, you thought they would work?
Kain: Well... They fired at least one time...
Mephisto: Shut the f*ck up!
All except Mephisto: *chuckle*
Wolfstraum: Well... damn, this was short...
Wenn Engel hassen: Indeed. Ok. now, lets travel another 10mio km just to decelerate. Hopefully, we`re not coming to late for the party to end...

While the ships that did the actual attack were already leaving the immediate Mars area, to return some time later, the original fleet, the one that waited until now, simply to prevent being hit by friendly fire, begun moving again... The enemy should be confused, their formation be chaotic... still, they moved slowly, waited for reinforcements... other reinforcements to arrive.

Still, they would attack within mere minutes.

---

ooc summary:

Ok, the ships came in with very high speed, without decelerating. They didn´t deploy drones, nor fighters, since under this particular circumstances, they would be... completely useless. Means that the entire attack consisted of a few seconds (really, just seconds... twenty, to be correct) Kinetics, particle weapons, photon (laser, graser) weapons. Oh, and a single salvo from Mephisto`s gravguns, until they malfunctioned. Whatever they hit should have been torn apart, large parts of it being yanked out by the gravguns (in the direction of the approaching fleet, where the graviton beam came from).

Oh, and the fire was aimed at not hitting the martian, or Deimos/ Phobos surface, the fleet came from a direction preventing such mistakes as efficient as possible.

The whole thing is aimed at... well, destroying the ADK Mars formation, creating chaos, rather than actually destroying their ships, although, since they were concentrated, the level of destruction should be relatively high. With one exception: The space station of the Martian Confederacy was a primary target.

Of course, my ships were concentrated as well, I assume about 10% complete kills and 10% heavily damaged, makes 24- 25 ships taken out by ADK Mars fire.

Oh, and your response should only cover a few minutes, since the next part will start almost immediately after this.

The Der Angstian vessels were recognized long before they ever began to fire upon the Khristian and Confederate vessels. Many of them flew out of the way, since the Confederate vessels were small and agile, being only 500 feet in maximum length.

Several were hit though, about 6 fghters, 2 covettes, a gunship, several maintenance bots had thrown themselves in front of larger vessels, 3 destroyers, 2 crusiers, 8 frigates, and a battle cruiser had been lost. Now they responded....

Four Kinetic Destroyers moved in and unleashed two volleys of kinetics, 7 in each volley, from each vessel, 56 in all. Ion Destroyers and Gravity Destroyers moved in also, firing their ion cannons and gravity cannons respectively, Der Angst was not the only nation that researched gravitonics extensively... Missile Destroyers and Plasma Destroyers also moved in firing missiles, plasma bombs, and plasma cannons. This massive response most likely came a second or two after the first shot was fired...

Ion Crusiers opened up short-range FTL points to the original Der Angstian fleet and fired mercilessly through the portals. Plasma, Gravity, Missile, and Kinetic Crusiers followed suit. Battle Cruisers and Dreadnaughts opened their FTL points and fired their combined weaponry.

The Omega Complex was hit and damaged, auxiliry command towers and teterairy command towers being destroyed and another loading dock. But the mighty station poured forth its fighters and corvettes, some 250 in all, and they headed out to wreack havoc on the Der Angstian and Taraskovayn forces.

Frigates also opened FTL points and appeared under DA and TSF vessels and let loose volleys of kinetics, 88 kinetics actually... They reponed the FTL portals and dove back in. They repeated this attack from different directions, sometimes splitting up and attacking from different fronts.

All was happening with speed, speed that matched the Der Angstian attack...

ic:

The ADK attack wasn´t exactly unexpected, and it wasn´t too hard to evade the attacks.

The CPUs in the ships almost laughed at the ADK 'tactics'. The opening portals showed them exactly where the ADK vessels intended to hit, and their sensors were more than able to find the positions where portals were to be opened in the next moment.

Thusly, this kind of attack resulted in the ships 'pilots' laughing, rather than being scared.

More importantly, they could fire through the portals, just as the ADK vessels did. Granted, it was dangerous, since they could be hit, and in some cases, were hit by the ADK fire, however, the damage was considerable low.

The attacks the frigates did were considerably more dangerous.

One thing the ADK forces seemed to have forgotten was that the drones denying FTL jumps were still in place...

The frigates opening the portals just to watch them disappear when a drone exploded were lucky...

The ones that came through, firing, reopening the portal, just to see it vanishing when a drone suddenly came near, exploding, while half a dozen ships aimed at them were far less lucky...

Still, the ones succeeding did a fair amount of damage.

Meanwhile, far, but not too far away, in the void of space, ships troop transporters continued their journey, protected by their escorts.

*Simultaneous Events*

TSFS “Plamya”,
TSF 2nd Battlegroup,
High Orbit over Planet Mars,
Mars.

- Opening FTL gate at 2:2:1.
- Evasive maneuvers. Missile salvo into the gate.
- Yes, Sire!

The Thylacin yet again sped up, for already a countless time, evading those FTL gates which appeared out of nowhere. Their appearing was quite predictable since they were already quite ‘used’ to the Confederate tactic. The holoscreen in his armrest quickly passed a transmission from the DA fleet. The Admiral quickly responded by a rather unoriginal ‘Affirmative’ and gave orders.

- All ships full throttle to target. Coordinates as given.

It would take them 30 seconds to reach it…
Somewhere in the far, Mephisto and its group were turning around…
The count down has started…

T: 0 seconds.

***

TSFS “Svoboda”,
TSF 7th Battlegroup,
‘The Pact’ reinforcements Task Force.
T: -5 Seconds.

- Sire, preparing to exit subspace in 5…

The BSI gave the first report…

- 4…

The officers were at their positions.

- 3…

The Admiral grinned…

- 2…

Silence befell on the bridge…

- 1… Reentry into real space confirmed.

The 7th Battlegroup appeared out of nowhere in the direct vicinity of the Confederate station. The mighty “Svoboda” Thylacin Class was in the middle, surrounded by its escort of 6 Emerald Spires and 14 various frigates. On both of its flanks were two groups of ships bearing a different insignia – the banner of the Vortex Corporation. The formation immediately headed at the enemy station at full speed.

- All allied units, fire at will!

T: 0 seconds.

The entire fleet, every ship, opened fire at the station. The Thylacin was sending beams after beams from all of his N-PBW’s. Missiles, projectiles and beams totally filled the space between the targets and the attackers. The successive waves of fire soon reached the station…
The allied task force, using the fact that the enemies were concentrated on the main GDT/DA fleet, swayed through the Confederate formation, opening fire with everything they had at the closest enemy target, not forgetting the station, of course…

[OOC: Vortex is to post now, I guess.
So far, the station is being targeted by the full firepower of mine and both Vortex Corporation battlegroups. Which makes a rather powerfull punch… :?
I take it that:
1. Your forces are concentrated on the main DA/GDT force.
2. You are chasing that fresh DA group with the fighters you deployed.
3. You are stretched at every possible front in every possible direction.
4. You have weakened your Martian forces by sending a force to attack Melkor in Arda. We consider those events to be simultaneous. ]

Governor’s Palace,
Capital City of Severovolost,
Taraskovyan Martian Fiefdom of Svarog,
Mars.

- The money should have been wired to the ‘Fund of Aid to the Victims of the Nuclear Incident’. Have the appropriate directives have been given to your men?

Miloslav Karadzic nodded into the screen as he received his answer.

- Good then. ‘The Pact’ is grateful for your cooperation.

The Governor switched off the screen and looked at the two officers sitting in front of him. One was an NGF Brigade General Berejkov, commander of the 2nd Outer Detachment in Svarog, in full battle armor, his helm on his lap. The other one was Leib-Colonel Krasnov, commander of the Svarog Garrison. The first one to speak was the General.

- So, you solved everything with the elven governor?
- Viceroy, - corrected the Leib-Colonel.
- Whatever, - said Karadzic – Yes, I have received clearance, gentleman. You can deploy immediately.
- Are you sure we can trust the elven governor?
- Viceroy, - yet again corrected the Leib-Colonel.
- Whatever, - sighed Karadzic. – General, you have your orders. Always remain on alert, standard directive, as usual.
- Well then, lets hope those elves and that governor are decent people…
- Viceroy…
- Shut up! Both of you! You have orders, move out!

The two officers stood up, saluted the governor and went out of the office.

- Governor, - said the Brigade General.
- Viceroy, - said the Leib-Colonel.

The two men shook hands and each took a different turn in the corridor…

Your turn! ]

*Events described here take place as the same time as the above posts*

A single high tone announced that the battlegroups would soon exit hyperspace. After having taken notice of the upcoming DA / GDT assaults, TVC officials had insisted that Corporate forces were added to the invading forces. In the spirit of the SFN, the WTE and the Pact, the Corporation was bound to fight alongside their allies. Now, countless crewmen and pilots, highly motivated and determined to do some serious damage, were standing by to unleash havoc on the ADK forces.

“Exiting hyperspace, now”

A cold computer voice notified the naval personnel of what they already could see themselves. While exiting their hyperspace portals, the two battlegroups started to immediately follow their instructions: ion and torpedoe frigates and destroyers aimed their torpedoes, missiles and ion beams at the ADK station, adding large amounts of flanking fire to the streams of fire already being unleashed by the Taraskovyan forces. As missiles, energy beams, and large calibre shells wizzed through space, heading for the station, a large number of Flak frigates had already started another activity. Their fast tracking systems and good firepower was immediately deployed to target any objects and vessels that could throw themselves in the path of the incoming fire to the station.

Of course, no large vessel would be fast enough to block the line of fire, but pieces of shrapnel, as well as several strike craft, were subjected to a harsh pounding from the frigate mass drivers.

Directly behind the main battle vessels, other activities took place. Four hyperspace inhibitors, ships consisting completely of just armor and their inhibiting equipment, deployed their fields, making sure no FTL travel would be possible in an area stretching 10,000 kilometres into each direction. Defended heavily by field frigates and other military vessels, they would soon spread formation to block the largest area possible.

At the same time, fighters and corvettes were spewed out in large masses by the carriers attached to the battlegroups. Soon, those would make sure that no small nuisances would bother the relatively weak spots in the rear and high flanks of Corporate battleships. Since ADK had never fought the Corporation before, the pilots would use their best formations to keep the element of surprise for as long as possible.

But that would hardly bother the ADK forces now. Simultaneously with the Taraskovyan forces, ion frigates powered their beams, designed to cut through any material like a knife through butter. Missiles, torpedoes, slugs, everyting seemed to be literally drawn to the station by some mysterious force, which was actually just the result of good targeting done by the computers on board of the vessels…

“Good. The ADK forces seem to be dispersed and in the wrong formation. Using the Angstian vessels to distract them was a good idea,” Kiira Manaan said. She was an admiral of the Corporation, looking at the massive stream of weapons fire heading for the station. She knew hardly anything could survive that, and wondered how the station would react to the combined might of dozens and dozens of vessels, with each packing quite a punch. Already she was thinking about the next stages, the next surprises prepared for their foe. But that was at a subconscious level. First, this had to be dealt with…

"Atrocity is recognized as such by victim and perpetrator alike, by all who learn about it at whatever remove. Atrocity has no excuses, no mitigating arguement. Atrocity never balances or rectifies the past. Atrocity merely arms the future for more atrocity. It is self-perpetuating upon itself--a barbarous form of incest. Whoever commits atrocity also commits those future atrocities thus bred."--Frank Herbert, Children of Dune

The Omega Station was caught off gaurd as the three Battle groups from the GDT and TVC bore down upon it. The stations defenses went online, launching last ditch defense drones and firing all weapons that were plausible and within the arsenal of the mighty fortress.

The station had taken heavy damage, but still remained in operation. Doking bays and shipbuilding complexes had been wrecked. Supply depots destroyed, and gravity lost in several parts of the station. Most of the crew quarters were gone, and so were several control towers and defense pylons, but like the Black Knight, the station persevered.

Fortunately, one battle group had remained in reserve... Battlegroup Elendil. They came surging foreward, jumping within 50,000 km of the 7th GDT and the two TVC battlegroups. The 75 capital ships fired with everything they had, plasma bombs, plasma cannons, missiles, kinetics, pulse lasers, pulse cannons, ion cannons, gravity cannons, lasers, and laser cannons....

The Battlegroups Sirithil and Aries, still strong in force, made the jump too, abandoning the DA and GDT main fleet and encircling this new and deadly threat to the keystone of the Confederate Space program....

The 200 odd vessels all were launching their remainfing strike craft, or re-launching them, as almost 2000 fighters began assaulting the formations of TVC and GDT strike craft.

And then the trap was shut....

The vessels and the Omega Station unleashed their gravdones, at least 5000 of them, the drones beginning to encircle the three battlegroups, while the Battlegroup Sirhtil fired from behind, Elendil from above, The Omega Station from the front, and Aries from below, with the strike craft filling in the gaps.

With the TVC's FTL inhibitors, the GDT and TVC vessels would be trapped, and the Confederacy would carry the day, if these three battlegroups could be obliterated.

**********************************************

On the planet, something different was taking place. Almost one hundred transport planes were taking off from bases, heading northward, ever wary of the threat still posed by Angmar and the possibility of DA/GDT/TVC attack craft. Their escorts moved too, three per plane, this mission would be undertaken quickly and smoothly.

Troop Transports moved too, loaded with Khristian mechs, specially outfitted for the task in the north that awaited them...

OOC: Rezo, you know, those numbers could simply mean I'm more efficent than you. That I might need 10 people to do what you need 30 for... but anyways. I need to know where the TVC and DA colonies are, since they are not located on the Mars map. Thank you and hvae a nice day.

OOC: I need to know a few thingies before posting

1) If we are making a full surprise attack, how did you manage to construct a 'trap'?

2) Where the hell did you hide 75 ships that we somehow missed during preparations? IMHO, you cannot just wank another.

3) How the did 5000 drones remain intact after the damage you declared to the station?

4) Firing from the sides, above and beneath..where does it say that TVC and GDT vessels are in the same location? I am on GDT's flanks, meaning a whole lot to the left, and a whole lot to the right.

This is not an attempt to turn this into ooc bitchfesting, but a serious attempt to improve my understanding of the situation.

I have no problems acknowledging the situation...

Just in case.

My space reserves:

*TSF 3rd Battlegroup, Earth Orbit
*TSF 4th Battlegroup, Earth Orbit
*TSF 5th Battlegroup, Earth Orbit
*TSF 6th Battlegroup, Orion Constellation
*TSF 1st Battlegroup, Earth Orbit, requires refitment but is combat capable if merged with an other Battlegroup
These are standart TSF outfit. 1 Thylacin, 5-8 Emerald Spires, 10-20 various frigates. All in all, as you must have understood, there are 7 Battlegroups with the 8th currently being built at the TSC-1.

Additionally the Central Governement may call in the TSC-1 Escort Fleet and requisition all combat capable craft of all National Corporations, such as VerTech, ISTC and OSMC.

Anyway, DA, your post.

OOC: Well then, I apoligize the post was hastily typed, and not thought through very well, but it had to be done.

1) The ships counter-attacked a minute or two after your attack had started. This was accomplished through communication, of course. You probably could have intercepted some of the transmissions, but *shrug*. And if you want to know how they traveled so fast, that's simple. Tight beam data streams screaming accross space at the speed of light, which should only take a few seconds to dart around the Mars Sphere.

2) Appearently, you didn't prepare well enough. You neglected to attack all the stations and ships I was building to fight against Melkor, but these were almost out of the Mars Sphere, and most of themprobably were out of Martian Orbit. The Elendil battlegroup was defending this cluster of stations and shipyards, and so that explains that, because what fool in their right mind leaves 25 odd stations undefended?

3) I can't remember what I stated in my post, but I meant that number included all 200 something ships and the station(which is about 35% destroyed...) There's so many because their expecting that Sisgardian PD is good, which is a compliment to you, so live with it.

4) I merely assumed that they were together, and since you said they were on the flanks, that means they are together. And besides that, you never specified the directions you were attacking from.

There have been mistakes in posting made by everyone, so *shrug* Let's just work it out and move on. And TVC, I need some info about your colony...

The IBS Dagoth hung in space a ways off from the fighting. However, it was visible to all. It was watching, sensors on high, and scanning everything it could.

"Move us closer."

"Sir, it is a fierce battle."

"And, who would be foolish enough to attack a Malestrom class dreadnaught?"

"Right sir. Moving closer."

The dreadnaught moved closer to the battle, scanning coninuously.
Transmissions of nuetrality were sent out to the foreign fleets. The Bajonis expected the Khristians to know they were nuetral.

For the first time in what must have been at most a week, the orbiting Kajal Mars station pushed itself out of geosynchronous orbit, dropping into one that would take it over the Martian Confederacy at least three times. While it was known that it would occasionally take up such an orbit, there were only two reasons why it would. It would either be making a pre-emptive strike, or a retaliatory one.

As it began it's new orbit, it spewed forth the contents from the massive shipyards complex surrounding it. Three full battlegroups, ranging from frigates to the largest Kajali battleships and carriers, and veritable swarms of fighters dove into the battle, coming in from a completely unseen angle, at least from their perspective. The cloud of fighters constituted not only those from carriers, but the station itself, and they would have easily matched the number of ADK Mars fighters present if they had all launched.

In all reality, only two battlegroups had entered the battle, supported by groups of fighters that their carriers could support.

In the meanwhile, the plasma array recieved targetting data from the Aesirgronde tower, and began focusing on its first target; a border installation between Kajal Mars and ADK Mars. The admiralty's intent was to hit any military installation that could be seen from orbit with it, to pave the way for a ground invasion.

As soon as it was in position, it opened fire, raining plasma and 65 tonne shells down towards ADK Mars, as nearly half of the active troops in Kajal Mars began to prepare for their push inland, which would be headed straight for Angmar, with orders to cut down any resistance along the way..

OOC: Two battlegroups, constituting 150 ships total, with exceptional sublight drive systems, and plenty of long range weapons to hammer the enemy with as they attempt to fly just outside the enemy's range. The fighter cloud numbers 1250, based on 25 carriers total, each of which being able to support 50 fighters.

Ground troops consist of approximately 200,000 infantry that have been doing basic peacekeeping duty in Gorgoroth since its capture, supported by several thousand gunships, transports, and the entire Kajal Mars tank division.

They'll be sweeping across the country from the Kajal Mars border, of course, with artillery/ortillery support. Basic plasma array strikes + kinetics.

The ships would have blinked in surprise, had they had eyes. Of course, they didn`t, but still...

The ADK fleet stopped it´s attack upon us...
Are they insane? They need to keep us off their positions...
They are, obviously.
Follow the original plan, move.

And the ships moved, occasionally hit by debris from destroyed ADK frigates and Gunships, or debris from their own losses. They had fought for a fairly long time, and they weren´t exactly in their best shape...

But it would be enough.

Mars is a relatively small object, compared to the vastness of space. The ADK fleet had obviously missed this fact, and this mistake was likely to be their doom.

The ships accelerated, the entire fleet, DA & GDT vessels in formation... It took them only a couple of seconds, about ten, perhaps fifteen, until they had the ADK fleet in their line of sight...

Open fire.

From the original 125 vessels, fifteen had been destroyed, another ten were so heavily damaged they couldn´t be used at all. Almost all other vessels had suffered some damage, but it wasn`t overly relevant, since they were basically build to stay operational despite hull damages.

Drones were deployed, but not yet used, there weren´t too many remaining, and they wanted guaranteed kills...

Oddly enough, a couple of ships didn´t move towards the ADK fleet, but apparently closer to the planet...

This was when the Kajal fleet suddenly begun their attack.

From: DASS Kleid aus Rosen
To: Kajal fleet
Subject: Identify

"You are not announced. Who is your target?"

However, if they were honest, they had fought one enemy, and were currently fighting another... a third would be too much for them...

The drones moved, facing the Kajal fleet, to fire the moment the Kajal fleet would show hostile intentions against them.

Meanwhile, the very moment the message to Kajal was sent, the main fleet opened fire with their main guns, targeting the Omega station with heavy kinetics, as well as the ADK ships with its particle- laser- and graser weapons, while the GDT vessels stayed a bit behind, taking advantage of their long range weapons.

It looked as if the sky was on fire, the point defence of the approaching fleet harvesting the gravitic drones of the ADK fleet...

Meanwhile, the Mephisto group was coming closer to Mars, again... the original plan, to decelerate, had been given up... a second strike was necessary.

Now.

However, the battle in space became secondary when the parts of the fleet that had moved closer to the planet opened fire...

Not on the ADK fleet, but on ADK territory.

A rain of kinetics, yield between 0.001 and 1kt, descended, targetting military installations that were visible from orbit, could be tracked via heat sensors etc..

While military installations were the primary target, it was certainly visible that the assaulting ships didn´t exactly care about civilian casualities... whoever was near an identified military installation had... bad luck, so to speak.

At the same time, many of the fighters that had survived the battle until now swarmed out, targetting the satellites of the Martian confederacy, using their superior speed and maneuverability to take them out, one after one.

The troop transports, now ~ 6mio km from Mars

Marie looked annoyed. The friggin cheetah drone still leaked radiation... Guess it wont be able to take part in it...

Well, they had enough other stuff... Hopefully. In the end, they would be outnumbered, probably by an order of magnitude... Massive support by the drones was essentially to hold the positions they intended to take, yet alone to expand further...

It wouldn`t be fun.

But then, the stuff they had was fairly interesting, fairly new... fairly advanced.

The Martian Confederacy will love it., she thought, smiling innocently. Yes, they would love it...

More than half the government structure is already gone, and by destroying my space assets, you're killing off another 45% of it. Radical Sirithilists
Radical Christians
Neo-Nazis

That sums up most of the people I'd be worried about. We're talking genocide here... It would not be pretty...

But depending on who you kill and who replaces them, you could have screwed up all of Mars, or saved it. But....The descent of the Martian Confederacy into Pure Anarchy should be interesting to RP.

The Aumanii fleet presence around Mars had witnessed the battle with a great sense of unease, a strong feeling of duty was in them, for in the grim days of the 1st Hellespontos war the Martian Confederacy stood with them. Finally orders came from Aumanii High Command, an orbital cease fire will be enforced. A transmission was sent to all parties on a low band frequency. "All parties will cease hostilities immediately. Martian orbit 'is' a demilitarised zone and it will be enforced. Please do not draw us into your conflict, cease fire immediately and allow our government to moderate between you. If you do not stand down, offending parties will be met with force." the message was set to loop and the Aumanii interdiction fleet, 180 vessels strong moved to take up offensive positions surrounding the conflict zone. Simultaneously, other Aumanii battlegroups prepared to aid the latter.

2nd Outer Detachment,
Southern Carnil,
Mars.

While high above, amidst cold stars, the Space Fleet was busy bringing death to the enemies, the 2nd Outer Detachment, consisting of 3 complete NGF divisions, readied in the southern parts of Carnil for an onslaught into Confederate territory. 24.000 beefed up personnel, consisting of genetically enhanced artificially bred humans, pure bred war machines, were doing last preparations. Aircraft were readied, the artillery took position and the hoverdynes were getting into formation. Brigade General Berejkov was standing on the top of a hill, on which the mobile command center was set up and looked at the other side of the border. A group of Menelmacari fighters drifted at a distance. The commanders of all three divisions were by his side.

- Well, seems as the elves are still keeping an eye on us.
- No wonder, you’re with us, Alexei!
- Oh f-word you!
- Commander, all men are fully ready. We await orders.

The General turned around and gazed at the commanders. They were standing by a holo projector, on which a map of the Confederacy was shown.

- The Kajali forces have opened a fronton the Western Border by extensive artillery barrage… They have been placed under Joint Command. Our task is to open a northern front and sway into the Confederate territory. The Confederate forces will thusly be taken between two fires, and constantly bombarded from above.
- When do we attack?
- The DA ships in orbit of Mars are to engage into orbital bombardment of the Confederate territory somewhere around…

All of a sudden, the sky broke out in a rain of fire, pouring down on the Confederate soil. Out in the far and in the vicinity of the 2nd OD, explosions were seen, and then the terrible wrecking sound of tactical weapons exploding reached the General.

- …now!

The three division commanders saluted, put their helmets on and rushed off. They were to personally lead their men into combat. Long and short range artillery came to life, sending a rain of death upon the Confederates on the other side. Aerodynes swiftly flew over and engaged into battle, bombing and destroying. The main wave was still held back, awaiting for the bombardments to give the first results… The first ever massive deployment of the NGF personnel in real combat conditions began. Finally the labrats over at the VerTech will see, whether their creations are really as good as they pretended.

And as back in Vigvar, specialists observed impatiently the video feed, the artillery and missile systems were sending a rain of death on the other side. At the moment, the Confederacy was attacked from the North, West and High Orbit.

[OOC: Yes, I have received clearence from Menelmacar for the Carnil territory to be used by the Pact forces for the length of the entire operation.

“Well….that’s certainly dumb”, Kiira thought as she watched the scene of the battle. She had witnessed the entire Confederate orbital fleet concentrate their fire on the TVC and GDT forces, immediately exposing their backs to the DA and GDT forces that were already present before they jumped in. But one could not complain about tactical mistakes made by ones enemy. After all, any weakness should be exploited to the fullest, in order to gain optimum advantage. Watching the DA and GDT vessels turn around and resume their offensive manoeuvres, she contacted her captains.

“Alright, listen up. The Confederacy thinks they have us pinned down, but the GDT and DA vessels are starting to hit them from the rear. Don’t give them time to turn around, but keep them scattered. Send your fighters through the empty spaces in their ranks and order them to hit the weak spots on their capital ships. Deploy corvettes to keep Confederate strike craft of their backs. Keep the Destroyers in groups of two or three, and use them to take out one enemy frigate or larger class vessel out at a time. Deploy the Ion and Torpedo frigates in positions to both harass enemy vessels and finish off damaged craft. And keep pressure on that station! It should break down any moment now.”

“And take down those gravmines. Use medium mass drivers to take them out, or any other available weapon that is able to track them fast and shoot them down even faster. There is no use in letting more ships being blown up by those things than they already have.”

Moments later, she gave the order to release the special payloads of every Destroyer. The term ‘special’ was not really appropriate, since it just concerned batches of drones that were released by the dozens every moment. The swarms of mechanical beasts speeded out of the hanger bays, eagerly looking for their targets. ADK strike craft and medium class vessels would have been forced to give chase to the GDT and TVC strike craft right now, allowing the drones to get behind them and engage them from the back. Behind the drones came a second wave of semi-intelligent mines. They had been hooked up to the fleet’s targeting systems before launch, and had been programmed to home into the signature of several large ADK ships. Each mine was extremely agile, basicly consisting of an engine, a shield and a big pack of explosives, set to go off after piercing a ship’s hull.

As she watched the drone flocks swarm around enemy positions, Kiira gave a quick glance at a fleet status display on a monitor near her. The first losses were starting to count up, as the support and flak frigates on the edges of her formations started to take a heavy pounding. The other vessels, relatively protected in their current formations, were doing fine, but 4 support frigates were already drifting helplessly through space, just like several flak frigates had been blown up in massive outbursts of energy, causing masses of scrap metal to be hurled around the battlescene. Fortunately, the Pact strike craft were warned by emergency signals sent by the captains of these ships, just before they engaged in self destruction procedures. Enemy craft were not as lucky to receive these encoded heads up messages, however.

Meanwhile, the ground assault was starting to take shape. Together with the 24,000 GDT troops, two infantry battalions from the Corporation touched down on Martian soil. These marines and special forces were accompanied by two regiments of hoverdynes, mainly from the Volans, Lacerta, Lynx and Pavo series. Additionally, a support force of 36 heavy battlemechs and two aerodyne wings had been added to the strike force. Quickly taking up their starting positions, they saw additional dropships touch down, releasing dozens of batches of Drones, designed for ground war to the planet. Immediately, these mechanical warriors spread out to the flanks of the Pact forces, reinforcing the future flank protections already being put there by GDT. This should be sufficient to prevent any hostile force from penetrating the lines.

Everything was done with order and precision. Coördination was extremely smooth, a result of the intensive co-operation between the three nations over the decades. As more and more drones from the Corporation spread out to all directions, ready to start killing anything in their path as soon as the invasion would start, Artillery pieces were warmed up and given a last minute evaluation, and ground soldiers looked forward to battle with an eager look upon their faces. The formations of the troops were wide, avoiding the risk of concentrated firepower making too much casualties in one barrage. But still, the lines were tight enough to block any penetration.

With a feeling that resembled a mixture of tension, fear and excitement, tons of adrenaline rushing through countless veins, and the very best of weapons technology available. the core force of the Pact would be victorious or die trying. Preparations were ready, now it was time to await the proverbal green light to move into Confederate territory.

The numbers of the Confederate fleet were almost ut in half, but they struggled on. They did not turn to meet the oncoming DA?GDT force, but dodged, firing on whatever threatened them the most. The ships AI's and EI's making superfast calculations, while the balancing systems kept the organic crewpersons from being demoralized.

Only a token of the fleet kept watch on the, soon to be dead, GDT/TVC force within the gravfield, the rest of the ships concentrated their efforts on the new threat.

75 vessels met the combined DA/GDT force. Though they had already exhausted most of their missiles, torpedos, kinetics, and bombs, they fired the remaining ones anyways. Particle weapons kept up a steady, unforgiving rhythm, and no quater was shown.

Then deliverence.... 25 jump portals opened up behind the DA/GDT force, and a murderous volley of projectile weaponry streamed forth as the encirclers of the encirclers, of the encirclers, were encircled. No ships emerged for almost a minute, making sure no accursed anti-FTL drones impeded progress.

And another strike. 25 vessels more, carrying armor belts almost sextuople their normal thickness, dozens of extra ammo packs and supplies. The Second Battle Regiment of the Terran Expeditionary Force opened fire on the DA station that orbited Mars.

And on the surface, a response. As the DA vessels began to bombard the virgin soil of the Martian Confederacy, the Confederate defenses responded. Dozens of surface-to-orbit missiles, along with pulse lasers, went up into the midst of the enemy.

And the ground forces. Upholder class vessels, that were sterlizing what had been Aqualonde, moved from the 30 miles of wasteland, between the Menelmacari Carnil and the people of the Martian Confederacy, and swept down onto the Taraskovyn and Vortex Corporation forces that were there. They fired plasma bombs and sweep lasers, in an attempt to damage the enemy forces in a widespread area.

The projectiles that came from the Carnil were quickly identified and intercepted, although some made it through and damaged defense stations.

On the western front, not a Confederate troop was to be seen. No Clansmen moved about the desert that belonged to them. All sat within their underground communities, waiting to ambush the Kajali forces.

Returning to the Eastern front, Toran and Khristian troops were spread accross the Northeastern Khristian League, at least 200,000 of them, all waiting silently...

And while all thsi went on, the superbombers and troop transports that had moved northward had been forgotten and lost, but now they struck. As the fleet of gravships and areoplanes reached the GDT colony of Svarog, they fired plasma missiles at any obvious border defenses and prepared themselves for any surprises. Then the superbombers released a gas, not a deadly gas, but strong enough to knock out anyone who inhaled it for many hours. Then Khristian mechs and paratroopers landed from the troop transports, spraying more of the gas into the air. The operation could only take a few hours....

OOC: ^_^ Underestimated me didn't you? You should pay attention next time... Oh and listen TVC, if you're gonna save your ships, they'll have to make an FTL jump, because after about 5 minutes or so, there's not going to be very many left, and attempting to move out of the field isn't very smart either, as you're moving closer to the source.

I can`t believe it... There are still some remaining.
Well... Question is, for how long.
True enough.

However, it was not only frustration coming from the ships... It was also... surprise.

But well... They couldn´t change it.

Have to get throu- That was the last message the Syrah sent, before it was hit by volleys of ADK fire, ripping it apart.

The same happend to a few other ships, however, in the end, the damage was relatively minor, since the Kajal forces proved to be fairly effective.

Their own fighter drones, or rather, the ones that had remained, accelerated, moved forward, attacking the weapon turrets on the Martian Confederacy vessels as well as the Grav drones... if they were fast enough.

It wouldn´t do much, but it was better than nothing.

Meanwhile, the ships weren`t only fired upon, they fired back as well, particle beams, grasers and the like ripping the surviving ships of the Martian Confederacy apart.

The Maria watched in awe as the portals opened. For a moment, she thought the portals represented danger, and then, projectiles emerged...

In the wrong direction.

She chuckled lightly, continuing her assault on the ADK vessels, a fw hits of her turning one of them into scrap metal. Yeah, right... perhaps their targeting systems need some more maintenance?

[ooc: Nope. Your ships, attacking the GDT/ Tarasovka group turning and stopping my assault that takes only seconds? Questionable, but ok. But that ships, in front of me opening portals in my back, firing projectiles at me, aka the projectiles magically reversing their direction? Forget it.]

And another strike. 25 vessels more, carrying armor belts almost sextuople their normal thickness, dozens of extra ammo packs and supplies. The Second Battle Regiment of the Terran Expeditionary Force opened fire on the DA station that orbited Mars.

DA station in Martian Orbit

Max and Frank were two maintenance workers, minimum wage jobs, on the station. By now, the battle had lasted for quite a while, and they had watched in interestedly, although the hits the station had to take had shocked them quite a bit.

However, it looked almost as if the battle was over, at least for them, and they were actually turning around, going back to work, when the next wave of Martian Confederacy vessels approached the station, visible as tiny stars in the sky...

"Wow... who would have thought that there are still some of them remaining..."
"Indeed..." Frank shaked his head. "Only a couple of vessels... But then, we`re unprotected, aren´t we?"
"Our ships can return within seconds, surely early enough to hit them."
"True enough."

However, the ships did not return... Instead, the (damaged) station begun opening fire on the approaching vessels...

They didn´t know that the approaching vessels had especially strong arour, but what they did see was fascinating... Heavy armour always results in slowing down the people that are using it... And what happened now could easily be described as a spacedy Azincourt or Crezy.

Both watched in awe as the heavy guns of the station opened fire, long before the attacking vessels were in firing range.

"Heck... why are they so slow?"
"No idea... engine problems, perhaps?"
"Well... probably... OUCH. Thats one less."

The ships continued their assault... Their heavy armour was protecting them from more hits than usually, but their slow approach reduced this advantage to exactly zero, since the station could fire more often...

However, after a while, and a few Martian Confederacy vessels later, they finally entered firing range...

They fired... immediately, and apparently, they forgot something...

The returning Mephisto group.

They had given up on the original plan (Decelerating) and just returned with full speed.

And suddenly, they came upon the Martian Confederacy vessels like a storm.

"Beautiful..." Max and Frank said together, still shaking from the first impacts of the MC salvos which hit just a couple of meters below them, destroying a fighter bay, several low yield turrets and one heavy particle gun... Well, and one of the cheap, outside shelters.

And indeed, it was beautiful, watching the ships attacking like giant jellyfishes (being spherical objects, one could hardly describe them as 'Hawks' or eagles... But 'Jellyfish' is quite accurate).

Soon... Soon, it would be over.

And on the surface, a response. As the DA vessels began to bombard the virgin soil of the Martian Confederacy, the Confederate defenses responded. Dozens of surface-to-orbit missiles, along with pulse lasers, went up into the midst of the enemy.

The ships CPU`s, human beings, wired into the heart of the ships, almost laughed. Missiles. Against a moving fleet a few thousand kilometers above them.

Not a single missile hit them. Either they run out of fuel, unable to change their direction to hit the dodging ships, or they were destroyed by the ships defences.

The lasers were significantly more dangerous, and Knochenshiff as well as Narben ended in giant balls of light and fire, a couple more vessels retreated, damaged.

However, the bombardement continued, and now, that the ground to orbit defences had shown their positions, high precision fire hit them almost instantly.

Meanwhile, a new phase begun, when a couple of ships were launching larger drones...

A couple of surviving fighter drones retreated from the battle, joining them... Then they descended into the martian 'atmosphere', as they called the thin layer of gas, artificially created during the terraforming process...

The ships launchign the drones were certain the Martian Confederacy defences would hit the drones... this smaller ones were even vulnerable against missiles...

But it had to be done.

Their targets were the MC troop concentrations at the border to Carnil... or rather, whatever survived the sustained artillery strikes by the TVC and GDT forces in the area.

Soon, they would come and unleash their terror upon the enemy...

And while they started their assault, other fighters were retreating, obviously intending to cover... something.

The Ground Forces convoy from earth

Marie stroked one of the drones. Now is your time, my dear... It begins...

She didn´t look at the screens in her room, who were showing the martian surface. She knew that they had finally arrived. Now it was time to unleash what they had...

She could hardly wait for her babies to land on the martian surface, could hardly wait for it to begin. I`m sure you will give your best... My babies, hsow them what you can do...

Unlike her, the soldiers on the ships were fairly nervous. Few people like to die, and they weren´t exactly that kind of people... Still, they would have to fight... And if possible, survive.

A few larger ships abandoned the battle with the Martian Confederacy, joining the troop transporters, waiting for them to begin the landing process...

And soon, the shuttles started from the ships, slowly descending towards southern Carnil, protected by small clouds of fighters...

"Isn`t this risky? I mean, the fleet of the Martian confederacy is still not destroyed..." The man asking was in his fifties, with thin, partly grey, partly black, hair.
"It is. But see at it like this: If they abandon the battle, our forces hit their back. None of them would even reach us. Not to mention the Kajal ships which would hit their flanks... well, they do that, anyway. Our combined firepower is just too extreme. Look at them, their fleet is constantly being hit by the combined forces of four enemies."
"Well... True. Lets hope nothing happens."
The other man, a fairly large man in his fourties, smiled. "There wont be a problem. Their forces on the planetary surface are a problem, yes, and we will take quite a few hits by their Surface to Air defences, but it wont destroy us. Believe me, it will all work out."

OOC: Through where did they go?

They would either way go through either Carnil or Eniqcir(or any of the territories he has defacto control of) to be able to 'hit' Svarog.
Siri just refused.
And Eniqcir cannot give you authorization to use his airspace to attack Svarog since that would be a breach of the WTE treaties
Of course, if he does, than it's his choice entirely, but that will definetely be remembered, since he'll have at least 3 WTE members after him.

Anyway, what other nations?
Give me a list of the nations whose space you're using.

You can go through Bajon's airspace, to enter the space under Eniqcir's derfacto control and then make a tour by northern Carnil, which would give the Colonial Garrison enough time to detect the incoming craft.
But I do not think Bajon will allow you to use his airspace, and I have already told you everything about Eniqcir.

Then, you can't go through Kajal's airspace, so the Western approach is pretty much out of question.

So you can go:
Angmar -> Sunset -> Eniqcir.

That would work, I do not know Sunset's nor Eniqcir's reaction. I doubt they would allow a bombing of Svarog, especially Sunset(MFTA colleague). But that would take time and would yet again give me enough time to detect anyone approaching.
And Eniqcir... well...

Then there are some other trajectories to be taken into consideration, but they are damn long. And if you take the high orbit. Well:

1. DA ships are above you.
2. I have a pair of Cruisers above Svarog, along with a defense station.
3. There is a Colonial Garrison in Svarog, numbering some 10.000 personnel. The troops in Carnil are troops ferried directly from Earth during the engagement with TST fleets.

No, really, I have taken the time to get to Siri in IRC, to talk out the terms of use of her territories. I have taken the time to prepare everything. And all this, considering the fact that I am very much busy lately and don't have much time to spare on NS.

So you are free to take your time and go discuss with other nations the terms of use of their airspace.

Oh and Rezo, those 25 ships that appeared behind yours, they're the First Battle Regiment of the Terran Expeditionary Force. I don't know what you thought they were.... And in space, projectile weapons don't really need a range, because of inertia, correct?(That's for the 2nd BRTEF, not the surface-to-orbit missiles).

[The C'tan battleship Mechanisms of the Gods, low orbit above southern Angmar.]

In the darkened 'sepulcure' command chamber aboard the vessel, the Lord-Lieutenant who had commanded the offensive to capture the ground below - still occupied by many of his troops - engaged in orc-pacification. He didn't have the time or intent to reflect on much, his mind not working quite that way. Instead he was perpetually overseeing progress reports on the elimination of the orcs, vastly inferior to the Krork he was familiar with, but still quite irritating in their own way.

A holographic image flashed, several lines of text. The necron jerked itself out of its routine tasks, and read, half turning, he adressed a human woman in the throne behind him, "Milady, sensors detect numerous unidentified craft crossing the ADK-Angmar border, into the territories claimed by the Menelmacari."

The Vicereigne of the future Martian colony of 'Sentinel II' leaned forward in the chair, distractedly, "Have the Menelmacari granted them passage?"

"No milady."

"Send the following message," he waved his hand over one of the panels and began a recording, "ADK vessels, you are violating the airspace of the occupied territory of Angmar. The area you are currently traversing is not yours, nor has the owner granted you passage. We advise you to withdraw immediately."

She paused, "Send that, and inform the Menelmacari of this violation."

"Yes Milady," the necron replied. Samara leaned back in her chair and returned to her 'paper'work.

OOC: Some battle clarifications here.

1: To-be-inhaled gas wouldn't do much on Mars. Not only does Mars not have enough gravity to support a breathable (for large animals) atmosphere, but it was recently ravaged in war with Melkor. There are still dozens of bio and chemical agents flowing around mixed with dust kicked up by hundreads of large thermonuclear ground blasts.

So troops are at LEAST going to have a breathing aparatus, and probably full environmental hazard suits.

2: Projectiles themselves don't really have a maximum "range" in space unless they fall into a gravity well (like Mars, Earth, the sun, etc). However, they have very low speeds. 3,000 kilometers per second is INSANELY fast (unacheivable) by modern standards, but fairly reasonable for futuristic technology. At these tremendous speeds...a projectile could take minutes to reach a distant target...perhaps seconds to reach a near one.

In that, space is HUGE, and projectiles are succeptable to gravity, EM fields, and simple dodging. (If you see them shoot, you may have 5-10 seconds to alter the course of your ship enough for a miss...or at least only a glancing blow).

So to fire projectiles, you need to get pretty close. Then again, projectiles do some pretty nice damage. :)

I have absolutely no idea how close everyone's ships/fleets are, but it is something everyone here may want to take into account.

[ooc: (Can do that, since there *seems* to be a solution to the conflict)

The battle takes place in Martian Orbit, with... altogether about 400 ships?

And I think I made a point in describing how the kinetics are fired, not directly at the target, but where I presume the target *may* be after a couple of seconds. And always a lot of them to cover whole areas, rather than trying precision strikes.

Considering the casualities both sides took, the kinetic salvos weren`t overly effective (the debris of ships being hit wasn`t bad, though).

Oh, and in my case, the speed the kinetics have is about 30- 90km/s, hence, the time they needed to reach ADK Mars`spacedy station... about a minute. For the same reason, I fired the kinetics mainly at the space station, since moving targets are... hard to hit.

So, in the end... your point being?]

"Mhm... Auman agreed, right?"
"Yes." Mr. Morden took a sip from his coffee, smiling. "And chances are good that the Martian Confederacy agrees... well, it`s different fractions."
"It will still be troublesome..."
"Yes. But certainly easier than it is now. So... better than nothing, I would guess."
"True enough... Well, net topic, Glorious Humanity..."

"Lord Delendre, mister Morden calling on line 2"

"Thank you, Sasha"

Picking up an earpiece from his desk, Delendre listened for a short while, and then hung up after a simple 'thank you'. After a slight sigh of relief, he returned to his papers.
