The Leader has strived to maintain a multi-faith community within Crowloft, being a liberal Satanist and Hellspawn but with a son who has recently - following his meteoric rise to unchallenged power - become Christian Archbishop of Noniesrog. The Leader puts this down to wayward behaviour by his son, but fully accepts his apostacy as a concession to his people and as a sop to those who clamour for more funding for and official guidance on spiritual matters.

In general religion acts as a sop to the populace and keeps them believing. Crowloft has had leaders who were into Transcendental Meditation, Low-Church Methodism and so on, so as long as a broad spiritual agenda, respect for the Other, and ethos is maintained.

The Leader welcomes consultation on the matter, as he is still formulating policy in this area.

The nation of Jeruselem (should have been Jerusalem :? ) is a tri-religion state based on Crusader State of Jerusalem. While the government is effectively Christian Catholics, most sects of Christianity, Islam and Judism are accepted. US-based Christianity is not well accepted here (especially JW and Mormons).

There Asians who practice their Eastern religions but they are small minority since most people here are Arab-European or Arabian bloodlines.

The balance of peace is fragile but achievable.

OOC: sorry for any references to Satanism etc., the nation is based on one part Transylvania, one part modern British Conservative party personalities, one part C S Lewis/Narnia and one part my own prejudices.

IC: I would like to open a dialogue with you on maintaining such a fragile balance, Jeruselem. 47% of Crowlofters have commented that they would not like a Jewish leader, and that concerns the Potentate, since before the unfortunate accident where he became a...gentleman of the night, his parents had raised him as a good liberal Jew. He takes great pains to stress that the Jewish faith is tolerated and propaganda is regularly put out to reassure the population . How do we do this without resorting to the Leader hypnotising his flock into obedience?

For some people yes very important that their state is a religious state and for others no. Me personally I could care less. The Empire of Layarteb doesn't recognize organized religion or any for that matter so we just let it run on its own accord within. We do not help, we do not hinder. Religion should NOT be taken out though I mean that would be the dumbest thing and completely eliminate probably 10% or more of the players.

We have a multi-religious parliament (subject to royal intervention) and religious leaders have regular meetings to settle issues at the time. While the Catholic Church is powerful, it is kept under control to keep other religions happy.
