Is it possible to make a map of the NS world?

I've had many conflicting views of our large world. Some say its bigger then Jupiter, some say its RL Earth.

I want to create a map of the NS world. We probably can label individual nations. Regions, especially large ones like the Pacifics, would be labelled. It would be up to nations to find out where they are in the world.

I figure most nations are islands somewhere in the ocean. This is mostly because there is no definate map to tell who borders who, except in some regions like Wysteria which have a map.

So, lets see if we can map our world. Give a latititue longitude location.

Please, for your own sake, do not attempt to map the world. That way lies insanity.

With the thousands of nations? Good luck.

It's really hard... we've got a map of our region, but thats about it.

Not to mention all the nations that aren't exactly on the NS Earth, but are elsewhere in the solar system/galaxy/universe.

Everytime this has been attempted before, it has led to the project being quickly abandoned, followed by a joke thread in which the involved cartographers all go suicidally insane while trying to comprehend their creation.

I prefer the multiverse idea- NS Earth is the same size as the regular Earth, but there are hundreds of them superimposed in alternate dimensions, with huge space-time fractures allowing travel between them. That also nicely explains the fluid-time problem.

if you want to map NS earth... get a really big sheet of paper, and several tons of pencils... 'cause at a scale of 1" = 10,000 mi, you'd probably end up with a map slightly smaller than Uzbekistan...

in short: it's not possible, don't waste your time even trying.

Impossible. You have to do 40,000 nations and such

Mine's on a distant planet called Andromeda. Unfortunately, Andromeda was taken, so I chose one of it's cities.

OOC: At best, and I mean at the very best, different regions could decide to form some kind of "super" region in which a few regions are located in geographic proximity to eachother. But to map 100 000 plus nations? Egad. Gargling glass would be more pleasant.

Shameless plug for The Northern Seas, a super region (http://s3.invisionfree.com/The_Northern_Seas/index.php?act=idx)

It would actually be nonstop because NS is always changing so it would be impossible.

Just thinking about it reminds me of the Territory's parody of such ventures.

Hmmm, I like that. Good NS universe theory.

hah. have fun is all i can say. im having a hard enough time mapping out my region (Cannabis Island).
it doesnt help the amount of RP inactive nations. that shits me off more than anything :| put all this work into making the area a great RP region and so many people just scratch their asses and ignore it all.

but yeah. dont do it man! think of your children!

No. Don't do it. You're crazy...

Theres my general statements, the reasons being many. A big one is that many countries claim the same area in RL, and many countries existed but now do not due to "glassing" and many regions exist only in the heads of those who created them. Actually, to save himself from RL-NS confliction, the founder of the region I'm in just created a new penninsula jutting out into the Northern Pacific...Lyong Penninsula!

You might just be crazy, but you could cut your work by asking all regions to donate a map of their region, then you could piece it together, but not on the computer, it would probably crash :!:
