Xanthal

The new Xanthalian Dictator is Vladimir Museveni, and free enterprise is his game. Well, not really. By most standards he's socialist. Still, his new economic plan calls for limited privatization of the nation's entertainment industry in a system where private enterprise has been banned for over one thousand years. The Minister of Economics backs the idea, claiming that "only trough limited privatization can our economy reach its fullest potential". Tell that to the Minister of Social Affairs. "We have operated successfully with no private enterprise for fifteen centuries! This threatens our very way of life! We're looking at the reestablishment of classes! How can this even be considered?"
Debate is running hot, but the final decision lies with the Dictator. Could capitalism be returning to Xanthal? The Xanthalian government wants as many opinions as it can get on the matter. Is the furtherment of economic freedom worth risking the stability and equality of an entire society? You decide!

Xanthal

Under heavy political fire from the Board of Ministers and the general population, Vladimir Museveni has agreed to scrap his proposal to privatize the entertainment industry of Xanthal. The announcement was followed by cries of protest from the more capitalist faction of Xanthalian society, but heralded with sighs of relief from most of the nation's citizens.
"This bill would've been a catalyst. You can't privatize anything and still maintain class equality. Perhaps in the future Xanthal will be privatized, but we need a much better plan first. Otherwise we'll rip our social structure to shreds. Capitalism may free business barriers, but it builds more barriers than it destroys. That's why the Xanthalian public was so set against the proposal." said John Lawson, a Xanthalian student.
"I had thought that privatization of the entertainment industry would allow for better products and provide economic stimulus. I still think that that assumption was correct. Still, perhaps I failed to fully consider the integrity of Xanthal's social structure in my proposal. I will revise my work and resubmit it for public scrutiny before I retire. After that, I will leave it up to the people to decide if it is worth bringing to my successor." said Vladimir Museveni in his announcement today.
Clearly, more thought is needed before anything like this is ever tried again. This is XNN.
