NationStates World Fair - Port Nanaka, Nanakaland
For a week, Khrrck has been planning the NationStates World Fair. Now in Port Nanaka, Nanakaland proudly hosts the NationStates World Fair. In the fields outside Port Nanaka, pavilians will be set up for the World Fair. In Port Nanaka, people can be lodged.

More on the World's Fair comming soon. Khrrck will post details on the rules later. I only posted what I know.

Rules, what rules? Did we decide on any? I'll make some up.

[1] Be tolerant.

[2] If you can't stand (for example) someone showing off their new spacefighter next to your F-22s, don't whine. Make a sensible complaint to Nanakaland or me.

[3] Do your best to be readable. This is not a chatroom; you have time to check your spelling and make sure your post is readable. Having English as a second language is, of course, a acceptable excuse for bad grammar, etc.
01-02-2004, 03:29
Sorry Khrrk. I just didn't want to make up my own rules for fear you would disagree with them.

Five Civilized Nations
01-02-2004, 03:41
Two companies from the Five Civilized Nations would like to participate in the World's Fair at Port Nanaka

The first company, Crusade Naval Enterprises, a subsidiary of the Crusade Corporation Conglomerate would like to display and sell its super- and uber- cavitating torpedo technology...

The second company, March and Cala Naval Yards, would like to display its massive selection of submarines...
Zeronia
01-02-2004, 03:48
Zeronia will send over a prototype of our ZIMM-X03 'Skyhopper', and set up a kiosk to show our latest developments in X-Polymer technology.
01-02-2004, 03:49
Nanakaland will display it's modern tech prototypes and future tech space ships linking the two elements Nanakaland roleplays in NationStates. We will also have some other displays that will be kept secret until the fair begins.

Khrrck will demonstrate its survivalistic building style by building a pavilion into the side of a hill, which will house some of our other exhibits.

We have also managed to retreive the last surviving Kinsong Aerospace "Demon" from deep storage, and it will be demonstrating its incredible maneuverability and toughness.

Finally, we will have a pair of experienced blacksmiths, who will show off our experience with metal, as well as some of our iron sculpture.

We will have a number of other exhibits, which we shall announce later.
[OOC: I can't think of many more]

The Holy Empire of Hatchibombitar will present a pavilion featuring the “Royal Mahouts Revue”. The Royal Mahouts are a proud tradition in Hatchibombitar and they are thrilled to make this first Worlds Fair the first stop on their inaugural world tour. The following is taken from tour promotional material:

"Clad only in a traditional linen diaper, and wielding only a ceremonial ankhus, these talented young men and women will lead a troupe of Palavian Pachyderms through the music and choreography that has delighted and thrilled Hatchibombitarian audiences for generations.

Reviewers have described this show as “Up With People meets the National Geographic Channel” and have waxed lyrically over the raw earthiness of such show stopping numbers as “Oops, I Did it Again” featuring the sensual gyrations of Momba, the matriarch of our pachyderm performers. Familiar favorites have a storied place in the show, including the famous pachyderm conga line to the infectious beat of “The Banana Boat Song”. Day-Oh Indeed!

New for 2004 is our stirring tribute to Milli Vanilli. “Girl, You Know it’s True” there won’t be a dry eye in the house when those dreadlocked elephants get to dancing! Bring the children to see BonBon the baby pachyderm and her hilarious antics to the tune of “The Good Ship Lollipop”. And what Revue would be complete without a circle of elephants, trunk to tail, swaying gently as the mahouts stand atop their mighty backs singing “Kumbaya”?"

The Royal Mahouts are accepting engagments at this time; all shows are free and are offered in a spirit of good will and cultural fellowship.

OOC: I'll RP the show in any nation who wants to book the show.

SAVX will be showcasing our new biological developements (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=116612&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0): the Attack Devourous, Carrier Devourous, Scythian Crawler, Jagged Claw Crawler, and Recluse Crawler. The displays will be completely contained and guarded to prevent "incidents," but there should be none as the creatures are well-trained and completely obedient.

Really, I say I'm better than you, you say you're better than me, I say we aren't going to convince each other of anything.

Two robed figures walked out of customs, shivering slightly.
"Do you think we really had to do that?" A thick Russian accent came from one of the robes.
A sweet female voice came from the other. "Of course, Dmitri. These people don't have the same common amenities as we do. Come, let's find wherever they're planning to have this... World Fair.

[OOC: Six weapons at once? You've got to be kidding...]

The Falling Pin wallowed towards the Nanaka Bay harbor.

It's typical of Khrrck transports; big, wide and blunt-nosed, with oversized engines. It's about 125 feet long and 30 wide, with cargo hatches large enough to fit three full-sized tanks alongside each other.

The captain of the Falling Pin stood at the bow, looking out over the bay towards Port Nanaka.
"I don't understand it," he said, speaking in the harsh, guttural language of Khrrck. "There isn't anyone coming out to meet us. Not even a customs boat."

"Perhaps they're busy with someone else." commented one of the passengers, who was practicing near the forward flagpole.
"Don't set fire to the flagpole! You might be right. I'll wait a while longer, than send a radio message."
11-02-2004, 03:05
A customs boat came to meet the Khrrck vessel.
Khrrck
18-02-2004, 04:09
The Falling Pin loomed over the smaller boat.

"Customs has arrived!" yelled a synthesized-sounding voice from the deck. "Where's the rope ladder?"
"Rope ladder?" replied another voice.
"You know, polyethylene rope, aluminum pipe..."
"Oh! That thing! I think I saw one of the Yakara Mining reps removing some of the pipe in the workroom."
"Why?"
"He said one of their drill rigs was missing a strut."
"Well, go get it."
The sound of metal tapping on metal drifted off the deck.

There was silence for a few minutes, then the second voice spoke again.
"I've got the ladder."
"Hang it over the side."

A rope ladder, composed of yellow polyethylene rope and shiny aluminum pipe unrolls down the side of the boat.
Several of the rungs are missing, but it still looks climbable.

A grey-scaled, reptilian head pokes over the side and yells in a (obviously synthesized) voice.
"Sorry about the delay! We had to get the ladder! Come on up!"

The SAVX transport cruiser swooped to the clearing prepared for its delivery. The grass blew heavily in the wind until the engines finally died down. Two large ramps were lowered from each side, and the unloading crew--composed of basic Marines in green Mk.II (http://www.angelfire.com/ns2/toxicvalley/images/combat_armor.gif) armor--began to roll out the large cages that held the Führer's prize creations. A shock trooper directed the men, having memorized how the whole thing was to be set up during the flight.

"Roll 'em out easy! We'll set up that one over there. Hey! Easy, I said! Christ, can't you people understand anything? You, Private! Get that one over there! For the love of...NO! THERE! God dammit...yes! That's right! There! Ok! Stop! STOP! Private! Fuck up on more time, and I'm going to beat your ass into the ground, got it? THAT'S better."

The process took some time, but eventually all of the cages were in place. Viewing areas were now being set up, with seats surrounding arena-like areas where the current results of SAVX's extensive genetic research would be displayed. Another area was being set up where Syntec Corp. would be able to display its newest body armor developments.

Meanwhile, Mathew Laro, overseer of the presentation, finalized all of the events. He was satisfied that what they were going to present was going to be great entertainment, as long as everything went correctly. He had a few Ghost Shadows come along as a safety net; should any creature decide to run rampant for any reason, that creature's cerebral tissue would be removed by lead before any harm could come to the crowd.

"Hmm...I think the whole thing will go fantastically. We have the proper security measures in place, should any terrorist acts be attempted, right?"

"Yes, sir. No weapons or explosives of any kind will have a chance to get by our senses."

"Good, good. I want these orders delivered to the men running the specific events. They'll have everything they need to know to carry out the show smoothly."

"Immediately, sir."

Laro nodded and the aide walked out of the small onboard office. He turned to the window by his desk and watched the setup. The creatures selected had been trained extensively, so they shouldn't pose any threat to the audience members...or his own people, for that matter. Should anything go wrong, he would be removed from his position so fast that the bureaucracy wouldn't have even shuffled a single paper. He was satisfied with what he saw, though. The Scythian crawlers always scared the bejeezus out of him, but it wouldn't matter; he'd keep his distance. For now, he would have to finish writing up the directions for the Syntec group. Those damn businessmen were always in such a rush.

Imperial & Colonial Brewing and Distilling

The most popular Exhibit in Roycelandia's Pavillion, it features displays and free samples of Roycelandia's most popular alcoholic beverages, a summary of which is listed here.

Imperial Lager A full strength lager, weighing in at an impressive 7.5% alcohol. The perfect accompaniment to a steak, seafood, barbeque, or just sitting on the patio getting horribly drunk with friends.

$5 per 375ml bottle, but worth every cent. (Gold Medal Winner, Palm Islands Beer Festival 1999, 2000, 2002, 2003, and Silver Medal, International Brewing Awards, 2004)

LoBrau Bitter A mid-strength economy beer, with 3.5% alcohol, LoBrau has strong, heady flavour and is ideal for drinking whilst fixing broken cars, watching sporting matches, or getting drunk on the cheap.

$1 per 375ml can, which can then be shot as a target- technically counting as "recycling" under Roycelandian legislation.

Elephant Lager Wicked strength lager, made by Colonial Breweries in Port Imperial, Roycelandian East Africa. 12.5% alcohol, with a pleasant, smooth taste. Best drunk whilst hunting Dangerous Animals, Oppressing Native Peoples, or flying through AA fire...

$8 per 375ml bottle- Imported from Port Imperial at considerable risk by the Imperial Roycelandian Maritime Air Service Sundeland Flying Boat crews and the nerve-wracked aircrew of Imperial Airways IAe-3 Passenger Transports. (Silver Medal Winner, Southern Africa Beer Awards 2003)

Port Royal Pale Ale A popular beer, previously available only on tap in Port Royal. Dark colour, frothy head, lots of alcohol. With 8% alcohol, it has been known to induce Imperialist Ambitions and the urge to strut one's funky stuff.

$4 per 600ml bottle, and selling fast...

Palm Stout A dark stout, and often consumed with fast food, kebabs, pies, and fish & chips. 6% alcohol, and the can has a neat little widget in it to give it the same head as found on it's On Tap cousin.

$6 per 600ml can, including the widgety thing.

Coral Pilsener A slightly tropical fruity beer, and a new release from Coral Palm Breweries. Amber in colour, it's best served chilled with a slice of lemon, some lime, and one of those little cocktail umbrellas in the top of the bottle. 5% alcohol, and perfect for a day lounging at the beach or a hard night's partying.

$6 per 375ml bottle, when the Coral Palm Islanders remember to ship it to Roycelandia... (Bronze Medal, Pacific Islands Brewing Fair, 2004)

All Alcohol will be available for sale Duty Free as well, should visitors wish to export some for consumption at home.

Coral Palm Islands Book Publishing

An educational display on some of the many fine titles published by Coral Palm Islands Book Publishing.

21-02-2004, 00:54
Nuevo Kowloon would like to open a small pavilion here showcasing our Safe Nuclear industry, (We build the safest Nuclear Power Plants anywhere), along with a small war-memorial dedicated to the innocent victims of Nuclear, Chemical, and Biological weapons, and a booth displaying how to survive and cope in the after of a WMD attack.
(We have experience here, we've done this...)

for the kids, we have a shooting gallery with Weaponsafe(TM) rifles and moving targets, interactive "Home Protection and Fire Safety" displays, and short classes on useful things you can do with commercial cleaners, household chemicals, and certain types of soft-drinks.

For the Teen, we will display interactive trainers in hunting, shooting-sports, bomb-disposal, and explosives handling (this material is really just high-school textbook stuff, very basic!)

All interactive displays are language-selectable.

For the Evening crowd, our most popular singer has agreed to present a show with her blacklight dancing troupe. (Adults over 18 only!)

For Evening folks with children, there will be activities available to delight and amaze ("The Magic of Science" with your host, Dr. Kim Loo-Song), and musical numbers showcasing both traditional folk-songs, and more modern offerings.

Entry at our Pavilion is free to Fair Attendees, as it is sponsored wholly by our Defense Department in conjunction with the NKPP&E (Nuevo Kowloon Power Plant and Electrical workers Union), The National Association of Hackers and Information Industries, and The Black Rat Recording Artists Association.

Weaponsafe(tm) is a subdivision of the Defense Department's Education and Doctrine command.

Dr. Kim Loo-Song is a card-holding member of The Black Rat Recording Artists, as is Ang-Le and her Blacklight Dance troupe.

All Interactive displays provided by the National Association of Hackers and Information Industries, with funding from Amigatech, Nuevo Kowloon Software, and National Electric.

Nuevo Kowloon's ambassador to Nanakaland is waiting, and expedites the process of getting the display materials through customs. The hardest item to "Expedite" turns out to be the Weaponsafe(tm) rifles-this takes over 4 hours, and winds up requiring the items be inspected by a representative of Nanakaland's military, who finally demonstates that, No, in spite of appearances to the contrary, these are not live weapons.
just very, very, accurate simulators.

After the display materials are off the plane, and on their way to the Fair site, another plane arrives. This one is a chartered airliner, and just delivers the staff, dancers, and support people.

The Nuevo Kowloon display area is assembled in less time than it took to process everything and everyone through Custom (from there) through customs.

"Sir," asked the second. "why do you bother with that antiquated peice of equipment? We have modern binoculars that could give you much better detail..."
"No thanks," said the captain. "This is a family heirloom. My mother's people were of the sea; it reminds me of my roots."
"So, do we dock, or wait for an escort?" asked the second.
"We've already been given clearance, go ahead and dock. There's ample space beside that Khrrck vessel."

Skrakkik Ironscale clattered down the dock, fuming quietly and startling a passing dockworker out of his wits. He had trouble at customs.
The fools wanted to confiscate my swords! he thought.
It had taken a lot of work to convince them that he could keep them.

Finally, the officer had said, to his subordinates, "Look. He's a nine-foot-long lizard. He's got three-inch claws. I don't think that taking his swords away will keep him from doing damage, so just let him keep them, OK?"

Skrakkik grinned, briefly. Behind him, engineers were unloading digging machinery, in preperation for constructing the pavilion. He had been sent to check out the site.

Skrakkik wound his way through Port Nanaka, ignoring the startled passers-by.

He was about nine feet long, with black scales, steely talons, and some intimidating teeth. He was wearing a pair of five-foot scabbards on his back. The hilts protruding from them were simple metal bars, wrapped in black leather, without even a guard between them and the blade.
He also had what looked like a speaker grille implanted at the base of his short, thick neck, a wide, flat socket on the back of his neck, and a golden rune inlaid over his left eye.

He looked up. Yes, here it was; the site Nanakaland had assigned to them. A long, low hill stretched for about a half-mile across the ground; one end was sheer rock. A perfect building site.

Skrakkik strode up to the cliff face and stood up on his hind legs, bracing himself with his tail. He drew one of his swords; it was made of some black metal, and slightly curved. It glistened oddly, as if it wasn't quite normal.

Skrakkik swung the blade back over his head and chopped it into the cliff. It sank into the rock in a way no blade has any right to.

He pulled it out and examined the cut. Good rock. It'll do fine.

Back at the Falling Pin, the crew had enlisted the help of a couple of dock cranes to lift the Demon out of the hold.

The large, intimidating fighter, with ridiculously oversized engines, dropped onto the end of the dock with a quiet thump.

The pilot clambered up the side and dropped into the cockpit. A moment later, the plane's engines started up, with a dull roar.
"Clear the dock!" someone shouted through a megaphone. "Clear it!"

The Demon rumbled down the long dock, and, after a improbably short takeoff run, stood on its tail and launched itself into the sky.

***********************

While the Demon, having held a short argument with a hysterical ATC, was flying toward the Port Nanaka airport, the crew of the Falling Pin was unloading a big, six-wheeled truck, loaded with digging machinery.

The truck rumbled through the streets of Port Nanaka, showing suprising regard for traffic regulations, and drove up to the Khrrck pavilion site, its six big, balloon tires providing good grip on the rough ground.

As the Abashi docked, crewmen scrambled to complete last minute duties so the ship would be presentable. Not that it wasn't, but Varandi naval officers tended towards anal retentiveness in the presence of others, and Captain Televar wanted even the privy to shine for Nanakaland officials. Down below, the engineering crews were loading gear onto the trucks to begin construction right away; the Coatl was fast on their heels and the elephant cages needed to be finished before they arrived.

Miles away, the flagship Coatl reached Nanakaland waters. Admiral Mari Khomen, head of the Sultan's Navy and the first naval officer elected to Military Vizier, kept a tight ship, and already they were ahead of schedule. She had communications send the following reports.

Destination:Port Nanaka, Worlds Fair Bureau, Nanakaland
Sultanate of Varandi flagship Coatl requesting clearance. Designation is World's Fair entry.
[Origin:] SNS Coatl, flagship, Admiral Mari Khomen, C.O.

Destination:SNS Abashi, Port Nanakaland
Arrival of the Coatl is imminent. Please have accomidations ready. Crew of the Abashi may take shore leave after duties are completed. If the pavilon is not up to spec, however, shore leave will be cancelled, so do things right the first time.
