Today, the governing body of the Commonwealth of Sukara announced its intention to withdraw Sukara from the bonds of the United Nations. This has come as a hard blow to those who had hoped for UN support regarding Sukara's present economic situation. The nation recently terminated all UN related activities at precisely 12:00AM Eastern Standard Time on January 20th.

"We cannot allow Euthanasia as part of our commitment to our people. It is something that, within our nation, has been voted down time and time again, and it is something that we will not consent to without the democratic support of our people. It is an unfortunate day, but long has it seemed that the UN has lost its role as a world peacekeeper, and has assumed one of world ruling. Sukara cannot, and will not stand for this bureaucratic tyranny. It is an infringement on our culture, and it is an infringement on our freedom as a state. Thus, Sukara will now withdraw all funds, assets and programs from the United Nations." said Sovereign Thomas Seneca today. The Sukaran senate unanimously voted in concurrence with him on his proposal to withdraw from the UN.

This comes as no surprise to national leaders, who will be expected to comment later today on the recent development, as Sukara criticized the supposed "International City" for its supposed "hypocrisy."

"Sukara has helped the UN in its promise for funding, military support and foreign aid. Yet today, Sukara's border cities are still cold reminders of the wars Mesopotamia has seen. Our cities still have crumbled buildings, cratered streets. Our people still contend with constant electrical failure and water stoppage. We will implement the funds that we no longer pay to the UN to fund our own aid. Maybe if the UN can't help us, Sukara can't help the UN."

This decision comes as a hard blow for those rallying for UN aid in the devastating Liechtenstein-Mesopotamian War.

World leaders are expected to comment later.
