Operation Rolling Thunder (attn Klonor)

29-01-2004, 01:37
The Adamite Fleet folded to the outer rim of the Ross system, weapons charging and shields are slowly roused from hibernation. The fleet scans the area, sending out FTL sensor sweeps, and pulling in a map of the area, soon to become a battlefield. The ships, thousands of them of all size and description, floated lazily while they waited for the AI systems to map out the system and pinpoint enemy possitions, though the crackling gunports and occassional flash of shielding showed them as anything but impotent.

IC:

Not too far away, an LRR grand fleet, one of two giant conglomerations of ships, waits for Dozle to do something. Klonor would certainly alert them, and then they could hyperspace in, guns blazing, and shatter Dozle's fleet. The main unit of the new fleet is the new ion cannon frigate, able to be mass produced like corvettes, and wasted like mass driver rounds. They would hopefully overwhelm the Dozle ships with their heavy firepower and giant numbers. Just in case, a hefty number of other ships also makes up the battlegroup. The Hiding Out and its battlegroup, however, were waiting to get Dozle himself. Although Dozle would loose, it would be up to the sailors of the LRR space fleet and their allies to determine how.

"SIR! We have outer system contact! Massive contact!"

Senior lieutenant Johnseeer groggily got up from his chair, wiping the sleep from his eyes. He never got used to these "outer system contacts". They were always just some swarm of meteors, or a group of lost merchants. However, this time he wouldn't quite find what he expected.

"Well, what is it? A broken up comet? Or a new colony fleet passing through? Come on, I have important work to get back to (he glances at the latest game he'd just installed on his console)"

"Uh, we have multiple thousands of hyper-atomic contact! The ergometers are going through the roof!"

"WHat?!?!?!?!?!?!? There must be some error"

"No error sir. I'm reading multiple L-k class cruisers, as well as hundreds of G ships. This isn't some lost merchant vessel, that's a freaking Armada!"

"Hell. Sound Tactical Alert! Transmit a signal to the main station, tell them they have massive incoming!"

"Message sent, sir."

"Excellent. Now, ready our defenses. Get ready for a slugging match."

With that the solar system seemed to wake from its deep slumber, hundreds of ships and defense stations waking from a long rest. Cannons coming on-line, guns armed, and all focused on the ships soon to be turned into so much shrapnel.

In Subspace a couple thousand Lightyears from the Klonor vessels, Liberty Fleet Alpha was returning from a Recon deployment. The Sensor stations surged with activity, and the lone Leiutenant manning the station stared in disbelief at what he was seeing.
"Sir, we have a shitload of vessels inbound towards Klonor ships! Sensor data shows weapons are charged and vessels are battle-ready!"

Burkhaul stood at attention on the carbon nanotube sheet flooring as he surveyed the massive Bridge Data screen. "Weapons station, charge Bow, Port and Starboard MAC Cannons. Push those reactors as far as you can. I want all weapons locked on and ready to fire within four minutes. Comms station, hail the Klonor vessels and alert them that the cavalry's on it's way. Ops, ready all boarding squads and prepare point-defense cannons to repel boarders. Nav, all engines to full, ready emergency thrusters. Alert fleet to Battle Formation Sierra-Tango. Scratch that, alert fleet to Delta Formation. Enter space around Klonor vessels ready to hold off the Dozle fleet. Ops, how far can we push those reactors?"

The Leiutenant clicked in a series of keystrokes, and looked up at Admiral Burkhaul. "Sir, we can push the reactors to 130% with Reactor Safeties engaged. Respectfully, I would advise against removing safeties and repeating Chernobyl, sir."

"Ops, we're talking about a Plasma Reactor, not a Nuclear Generator. Remove reactor safeties, divert power from engines, push output levels as far as you can. Nav, set best course, Sublight Drives to full."

"Aye."
"Aye, Admiral."
"Aye, Sir."

On board the Odin Command Ship stationed in the Ross128 system

"Sir, I've been analyzing the sensor data and..."

"Yes? Well, spit it out!"

"It's to close to count. From what I can tell there's no way to tell who's gonna win, we're to evenly matched. They have numeric superiority, mobility, and the know what the hell they're doing where we have no clue who the hell they are. We've got more firepower and we've already got our defenses set up, they've only got what they brought with them. It's to even. This fight can go either way."

"Shit. Any way to tilt the scales?"

"Yeah, get us a lot more ships."

"Done. Send out an all frequencies alert, this is a distress call. We need any reinforcements that can be spared. Any Klonor ally, get your ass over here!"

OOC: This is not an open invitation. If you're invited to this RP I'll TG or IM you. Sorry, but this is a private type thing

Static filled the comm channels, and a message snapped on. "Attention Klonor Defense Fleet, this is Foe Hammer Liberty Fleet Alpha, commanded by Admiral Burkhaul of the FHSN. We are en route, ETA two minutes."

Another message came in. "Klonor Vessels, this is LF November of the Foe Hammer Space Armada. We are en route via Subspace. ETA four minutes. Prepare to move into our shield range for better cover. We have four other Liberty Fleets inbound, ETA two to three minutes."

A single burst transmition lances outward, reaching every ship with open coms channels, a simple text message scrolling over and over again. . .

"omae no desu totonou o soutou"

translated from Takian, "Prepare for annihilation"

Like giant schools of fish, massive warships move in packs, surrounded by clouds of escorts, they converge on the system, shields at full power and weapons bristling with energy. A trio of Drednaughts lead the initial assualt, their weapons armed and ready. They turn in unison, a lazy roll to present their three nova cannons to the Klonorian ships, the massive Takatanium Conversion Warheads being lowered roboticly into place. Robots move aboard the ships, some patroling the labrinth like corridors of the ship, others moving towards the drop pods, flanking the larger Automated Boarding Mecha. On the bridge of the newest dreadnaught, a mear three hundred years old, stood the only biological being in the fleet. . . A man in silver and white armor turns towards the coms station, projecting a holographical image of himself across the channels, sending his image and voice to every radio, television, and holoprojector in the system.

"Attention, soldiers and citizens of Klonor, I am Commander Lantis, lord of Adam's great fleet. We have come, not to bring war, but to bring a message of hope to you. We can offer you what your government never could, a life of peace, prosparity, unity. . . throw down your weapons, power down your ships, and we will guide you to this new future with our lord, the Child God Adam. Do not die in vain, for we will not destroy those who have joined us. Turn away from your taskmasters, and join us in glory."

He closed the link, while the Dreadnaught's AI awoke from its slumber.

You don't Really think that's going to work do you? the ship's AS said, appearing in similarly colored armor, though his features were harsher, like those of a well learned and oft tested warrior.

"of course not Damien" his words echoing over the empty bridge "but it will give his sailors something to ponder when we open fire. . . now, if you don't mind, prepare a cup of tea, Takian silver tip white tea from my personal collection."

yes my leige Damien says, the holograph bowing.

A smile comes over the face of Grand Admiral Sherlock Johanson.

"So it begins, eh dozle? Well, he don't know I'm older than 'is ships, do 'e?"
"I doubt it, sir."
"Alright, then! Mobilize th' fleet!"

The first ships whose drives are set aglow is the LRRSV Comandante Che, the second in the Edmond Halley series of dreadnaughts. The Che itself is flanked by a cloud of cruisers, each geared to take down ships of much larger size. The group of 30 cruisers is accompanied by a good 150 destroyers, and nearly 500 torpedo boats, not to mention the amount of ion cannon frigates. And fighters....well, dozle shouldn't be surprised when he sees a solid wall of acolytes charging his ships over and over, blocking out the starlight.

The fleet is soon in motion, and heads to its hyperspace point.

In an ultra-low frequency sub-etha transmission, the following message is sent:

"Klonor forces, this is the LRRSV Comandante Che and battlegroup. We are approximately 10 minutes in hyperspace from your position. Contact us again once you are sure, absolutely sure, that Dozle has comitted all of his forces. Then, we will come in. Watch out for hutchinson-effect point defense weapons. Other than that, we can't give you much advice. If you can just get him to commit his reserves, he'll be finished. Provided that the entire group is not already in battle."

OOCly TAGs the thread and grabs a bag of popcorn, then settles in to watch the fireworks.

"Say Klonor, seeing as the thread where the KHGV Proactive Target Acquisition fired at your ships died shortly thereafter, do you still consider that to have happened?"

"Alright.....hyperspace us in close to the battle, but out the' way. We'll cut up Dozle from the rear, eh?"
"Sounds good, admiral."
"Ok, signal the fleet and tell them that they are cleared for hyperspace."
"Roger that. All ships, prepare for hyperspace. Be sure your weapons and shields are on-line the moment you get out of hyperspace. Standard battle formation, keep it loose and fast. Avoid prolonged contact with the larger ships. Keep 'em occupied with the cardboard first."
"And patch us through to the Klonor communications network."
"Done."
"Klonor citizens, do not pay any attention to Prince Dozle's crazy guy there, eh? He really doesn't mean it. And if they really wanted change, they would do things far differently than they do, eh? Ok, remember that, and see you in a little while."

A chorus of "Roger, preparing to hyperspace," came over the comms channels of the Comandante Che. With that, the fleet jumps into hyperspace.

A small task group consisting of a carrier, a pair of destroyers, and 20 torpedo boats stays behind. They carry hyperspace distorters, which allows them to make the hyperspace signature of a national core fleet with their small numbers.

I've not got a problem with it, so long as you are willing to understand the basics behind the Adamite invasion. . . first of all, there will be no economics for Adam, he gets to throw as many ships/bots/tanks ect at you as he wants, your job right now is to just survive, and even that will be a difficult job as you are taking casulities, he isn't. if you are willing to play with that as a groundrule for Dozle's forces, then you are welcome to jump in (assuming of course Klonor ever posts)

You are welcome to blast as many of his ships to atoms as you want, there will always be more behind them. Its not in the "he's playing in Godmode" type of I'm not taking casulities, its more along the lines of "Pletny more where THAT came from".

Yeah, this is just one front of a much larger war, and from various spacenations he has been stealing money for the past 30 years. . . lots and lots of money, along with research, materials and ships. . . . and did I mention that he is a machine god? IE can manipulate any mechanical device he knows of with ihs mind. So yea, should be a lot of fun, you are welcome to jump in, but fair warning, this won't be a fair fight by any strech of the immagination.

I can't wait.

*Readies Who CD*

Of course, LRR is a nation of machines. But not mindless killing machines like SOATs. Sentience is the big thing here. Each ship has its own AI, and the AI is its own being, better than Dozle can ever hope to be. So he really can't subvert LRR ships because, well, we're robots and we won't let him!!!!!

From my window I see roads
Lead to darkness, leading home
In the midnight of a soul's unsleeping
Hear the waterfall of women weeping
Hear the distant noise of traffic stalling
Hear the prostituted children calling

>From the barred and mess-floor street
Of a winter's night, without a moon,
I am safe-hidden here.
Hiding out

I look over chequered fields
And the towering web of steel
Young and old will sit and judge unfeeling
While the empty churches' bells are pealing
And the green hills lay ignored, untended
Lonely watchers remain unfriended

And out in the one-way streets
Is a swelling maze, without a door
I am safe-hidden here
Hiding out

Can you guess what this song heralds the coming of?

Hint: 20km high pile of doom.

No- I'm looking foreward to tearing you into itsy-bitsy pieces. The ship I'm talking about could run over dozle's dreadnaughts, and mabye get its paint scratched. As for the other LRR ships, well, they pretty much circumvent regular ship strategy in a way I'm not gonna tell you about.

But young Jedi, do you recall me saying that this was not going to be a fair fight? *evil smirk* Dozle is brining a few friends along with him, as for your 20 km ship, it is going to become a 20km hulk, in a way you've never thought possible. . . I do need you to TG me the stats on that ship, and not just the basics either, in depth dimentions, defences, armorment, thickness of the hull, shielding, warp drivers, coms systems ANYTHING and EVERYTHING of importance, because if its not listed in the TG you send me, then I'm assuming that you don'g have it on your ship.
