[ZN, ] Today, the fate of over 11 million people was sealed. After nearly a month of private negotiations with Premier Damien Kazzero and local representatives of the Disputed Territory, it has been agreed that the Disputed Territory will end up in the hands of the Zeronian government, hopefully by next year. The terms of this incorporation is laid out in the Indigo Accord, which was signed today by the Premier and the eight local representatives of the Disputed Territory. This essentially nullifies the aging Stale-Mate Peace Treaty, which was put into place in 1843 after the War of the Books. Citizens on both sides of the border are quite pleased with the decision; the Premier was even well received when he arrived at the Kwix town centre for the signing.
Under the Indigo Accord, all peoples of the former Disputed Territory will be nationalized into Zeronians, but will be given unique status, and their cultures will be respected. Although the Disputed Territory itself will become under the control of the government, local administration and governance will be the role of local councillors. Also under the Indigo Accord, the former Disputed Territory will be considered sovereign Zeronian territory, and the Zeronian government will assume responsibilities for its citizens, including defensively.
The Premier and Associate Premier were not available to comment, but word from insiders say that both are ecstatic about the agreement, which has officially put an end to more than 150 years of disorder in the Disputed Territory, and tension with Zeronia.
