Since now that peace talks have in a way started, its high time that a history should be done of the conflict of both the SteamEarth-Ruskkia war and the civil war (still raging). Basically all this is going to consist of is a collection of reports and pieces from different sources. The main source is the incomplete war thread.
EVENTS LEADING UP TO CONFLICT

DISPUTES OVER NATIONIAL BORDERS
Disputes were flaring last night over the border between SteamEarth and Ruskkia.
The border runs along the length of the River Welle which due to flooding cuased by recent heavy rains has shifted its course. As a result of this around 5-6 square miles of land formerly of Ruskkia is now part of SteamEarth. However as part of a protest to this, Ruskkia has torn down a section of telegraph line which runs along the river between Hadley's Point and Stormwell.
However Ruskkia has propposed a new border which runs a mile south of the river and will enable Ruskkia to regain its lost land and also gain the SteamEarth city of Stormwell as well as the military base on Stormwell Island. This we cannot accept and Ruskkia is threatening to invade to gain this goal.
Also Ruskkia has demanded that its northern neighbour, the Constitutional Monarchy of Metzengerstein, hand over troops, supplies and land or else.
Metzengerstein's reply remains to be seem.
(Metzengerstein never took part in the conflict despite being invaded briefly by Ruskkia)

RIOTS IN STORMWELL!
Many riots involing citizens in the Ruskkie communites of the border city Stormwell, in SteamEarth, have recently taken place following similiar riots in Ruskkia.
Fighting broke out between Ruskkie Collective supporters and Ruskkies still loyal to the Duke sometime around 2:13pm, leading to seaveral people being killed or wounded and many more being arrested. Fire fighters are still battling blazes started by both sides at around the same time fighting broke out.
Curfew is now being enforced in Stormwell following recent events whilst the Iron Guard is moving into defensive positions around Stormwell in case Ruskkia tries to invade it. The military base on Stormwell Island has been placed on high alert.
The government of SteamEarth has given the following statement, "No comment!"

Mass commie protest against our fair Duke rupted across much of the nation of Ruskkia yesterday leading to much bloodshed and loss of life.
As rioting broke out in the capitial, Vendigrad, armed militia belonging to the Ruskkie Death Korps opened fire with their gatling guns as the mass of people surged forwards outside the parliment buildings. Futhur riots broke out in Ruskkie communities located in border cities in the surrounding nations, notablely Stommburg or Stormwell to non-Ruskkies.
A spokesperson for the government has stated. "Er............no comment."

Yesterday, the city of Stormwell was rocked by fierce dogfighting between Ruskkie Collective and Imperialist Ruskkie factions. Four civilians were killed by falling debris and fourteen more were wounded by stray cannon fire and rockets. This battle comes only a day or so after Ruskkie Collective planes attacked and destroyed a Imperialist Ruskkie carrier zepplin seaveral miles north of Stormwell.
For two weeks pior, the Ruskkie Collective has preyed on Imperialist Ruskkie cargo and passenger zeppelins. As rhetoric from Mother Ruskkia has grown increasingly hostile, Ruskkie Collective raids have continued.
Three days ago, the Ruskkie Collective enclave of "Haven," in Northern Ruskkia, was destroyed by an unidentified raiding party. In a rare public statement, the Ruskkie Collective leader—Vladimir "Perilous" Petrov—denounced the Imperialist air forces as cowards. "They have slaughtered innocent women and children in an attempt to crush those who are against the Dictatorship rulers of Mother Ruskkia."
Despite Petrov's accusations, the Imperialist military has denied involvement in the attack on Haven. "The words of pirates and thieves should be treated with extreme skepticism," according to Valery Korsikov, the Imperialist delegate to the United Nations. "If anyone is to blame for the Haven atrocity, it is likely the so-called Ruskkie Collective."
Yesterday's dogfight apparently began as a bar brawl in Stormwell's "Pirates' Alley," a neutral area in Stormwell. Rival pilots from the Ruskkie Collective and an unidentified Imperialist unit exchanged blows before local law enforcement agents ordered them to leave the area.
Once aboard their planes, the two groups immediately opened fire on each other. "Bullets were whizzin' around like hornets," said Elmo "Slappy" Gant, a local bush pilot who was wounded as he struggled to pilot his small plane out of the combat zone. "They was like mad dogs."
Stormwell's local militia force, the "Borderland Air Corps," sortied within minutes of the outbreak of fighting, though they were ineffectual in their attempts to stand down the dueling factions. Two-thirds of the militia forces were shot down, including "Judge" Kevin Collins, who is the nominal leader of the Borderland Air Corps. Collins wounds, though serious, are not currently deemed life threatening.
Local pilots rushed to assist the Borderland Air Corps, finally running both Imperialist and Ruskkie Collective planes out of the area, but not before civilian casualties had mounted.
