Setting: In the Imperial Court of Kubilai, in SimRTK region.
Kubilai, the Emperor of Kubilai, has summoned his warlord, the astute Kakita Kansuke to his court. Upon his arrival, Kansuke bows deeply, humbly, before his lord.
"Yes, Son of Heaven?"
Kubilai peered down the bridge of his straight nose. "I wonder if you could, perhaps, perform your job in a way that would help me sleep better at night..."
Daring to look up, Kansuke said, "Pardon, my lord?"
Kubilai rose from his throne to loom over his smaller warlord. "The police have been keeping criminals at bay, the peasants toil day and night, and yet you can't seem to keep affairs in order around here so that I MAY SLEEP!!!"
"My lord," replied Kansuke, staring at the tiled floor under his knees, "there is nothing I would not do. Tell me how I have failed you."
"My eunuch has informed me that an uprising is being fomented in the wastelands in the south. They say a barbarian some eight feet tall has rallied the peasants and soldiers of the region around him, and plans to bring it as a great host to my city. My jewel. How could you not know of this?"
"My lord, I have informants in every land in the empire. Every region is scouted and spied upon every day. If there is an army in the southlands..."
"SILENCE! You are saying I am lieing? GUARDS!!! I will have you executed"
"No, my lord, wait. I was not questioning you, my lord, just your informant. Your eunuch has no spies outside of this very city, lord. I have spies everywhere but here. Whose information should you trust. What kind of loyal man keeps spies in his own lord's city?"
Kubilai harumphed. "You apparently want to die, do you? You keep challenging my authority and you will, I guarrantee it."
"My lord. Please do not misunderstand me. Zhang Zhaofan has not been with you for the last fifteen years like I have. You began showing him favor only a year and some months ago. Why do you give him preference over me, my lord? My father and your father swore their brotherhood. And we swore ours in their likeness. I would never question you, Son of Heaven."
Kubilai slowly eased down into his throne, a sneer on his face. "I made this empire, brother. You and all your tricks and supposed tactics... My might made this empire. You managed to concoct a few fires and throw a few ambushes along the way, sure, but my strong arm and straight blade finally united this nation, and that is why I, and only I, sit on this throne. I know you would never be stupid enough to challenge me. It would be your death to put it simply. But enough of this. You bore me, Kansuke. Go to the south, find these rebels and destroy them. Do not come back to my great city without finishing them... unless you return in a coffin."
"My lord, it will be as you ask. How many troops may I take. I think I should need 50,000."
"You will have 500."
"My lord..."
Kubilai snorted his derision. "You will have 400 then."
Not wanting to further anger the Emperor, Kansuke knocked his head to the ground in agreement. "Yes, my lord. I will send you word of my success. I will leave tonight."
"Yes," Kubilai leaned back in his throne, kicking his leg over one arm crookedly. "You will."
(OOC: Anyone who wants to be the nation to the south of me, no not the rebels, who is in a historic-type setting, please join in my RP with me, as Kansuke goes to the southern neighbors to ask for help in quashing the rebellion, if it even exists...)
