The Massive influx of new nations!
Wow...There are alot of new nations showing up, alot of them being harsh n00bs, but some of them have proved to be good role players.
One in particular that Ive noticed was Chrsytaladon(I think thats it...) the intro thread that the player did was very well done.
But anyway, what do you old geezers think of the new crew? Im starting to feel old myself.(I started a country in March, it got deleted and I had to start using this one. So I've been playing awhile)
no one ever replied to my intro thread :(

ive seen a lot of pretty good rps from n00bs that joined only like half to an eighth of a month ago... i wasnt able to do that when i was one, but then again, i couldnt get on the forums ever from 2 days after i began to 2 and a half months later.

The normal case - some good ones, ones who disappear and the usual mob of n00bs. Same same ...

Sure, there are good ones, but there aren't enough of 'em. The ratio of good-to-bad is too low.

I've been sorta getting pissed off at this mass n00b invasion. True, I was part of the April-March invasion, but this is almost worst in my opinion.

I have to agree with Sigma Octavus on this matter. Although I joined in the June-July n00b invasion, I didn't start RP until I decided that I could, which was in September...
Yes, there are a lot of good RPers out there, but you have to remember that the majority of the n00bs in NationStates are not...

n00b wars springing up left and right.......hopefully, they'll wipe each other out before we have to.

i think the reasoning behind the noob influx is the new year, meaning new opportunities and an extended vacation for invasion of various places.
yes, let the WMS (weaposn of mass soakage) fly
Another question: what do all you new nations (and I do mean most of the people who have posted here, including Auman) think of we older nations?

I've been running into whole threads of Jan04 nations n00bin it out.
But I still won't leave.
well wazzu I know alot better than most noobs (I've been here before), I know not to take center stage when it's the big brother's turn, personally I have a bit of repsect for some of the nations (namely big mean and spacey) but yea I know not to trend where angels fear to tread....yet
I started RPing as Ell (Early April) but I switched accounts.

Not quite what I meant....
I mean, what do you think of the players? What do you think of their treatment of the little guys? What can they do to improve NS for those who have just started, or those who have been playing a while? That sorta thing.

Well, the problem with n00b Wars taking each other out is that almost every one ends in IGNORE.

About the n00b thing, I think they're intimidated. I know I had a grudge for a while about the "bigger is better" aspect of NS. A lot of them get upset that they can't be uber right away. But, once they know why it's restricted, they recover. (Most do, anyway.)

well, if i was to look from a future tech noob's point of view, Santa Barbara's new spaceship post is really helpful!, i mean, it tells you all you need to know on how to make a good, but basic, spaceship when your starting out.
Far too many bad n00bs, not enough good ones in my opinion. I've been threatened with non-existant WMDs, flamed, flame baited, have had puppets made by n00bs to try to make me look weak and foolish, called a warmonger ( :? how can someone who's always trying to find a peaceful resolution be a warmonger?), and called somethings I would've never imagined. The n00bs are waging wars when they don't even have a 10 million pop. or a stable economy, and saying they could kick every other nation's butt. Not to mention, waging like 10 wars at once. :? With what exactly? An army of civilans armed with rubber bands? I've had to use the ignore button more times in the past weeks after being reactivated than in the months that I was active before!

I am humbled by the quality of RP exhibited by many n00bs, and spend most of my time trying to become a better RPer in their example.
Of course, I am also aloof and disdainful of the poor quality of RP exhibited by many other n00bs.
When you come down to it, bad RP can come from new sources or old, but it's actually more of a problem when it's a well respected, "oldbie" nation.
But I don't see any "n00b" invasions. To my way of thinking, new players have been wandering into these forums pretty much steadily since the game began, and being new to the boards doesn't mean one is a newbie or n00b. Being an old player doesn't guarantee good RP skillz either. But I see a lot of new names all the time around here.

 where do you people encounter all these n00b's, during my time here i have recived three telegrams. Two join my region please and one i got the day after i made my nation. Which was one of those that mods usually remove a hole nation for, but others seems to be flooded with telegrams of all sorts. Here's counting myself lucky and knocking on wood..
I think you all are a bit harsh on newbies. I am a newbie to NS myself, but not to RPGing - a hobby of mine for the last 14 years.
Sure there may be flaming and threats and all kind of those things when a player is new and excited about the concept, but those kind of things grow old quickly, and I bet that most of the newbies that gets a kick out of threatening, bullying and the like will quit early, mainly because this is not what the game is about. Some of them, however, will learn, and become better role players. Also role playing is relative, and while some of you may like a more serious style and heavy consequences, some do not like that style and may engage in a more light-hearted and crude thread. Realism is also relative in this context, if you ask me.
I think older nations should be overbearing and should not complain over phenomena that most likely will not interfere greatly with their agendas. Many newbies become "old"bies very quickly in my experience, and those who don't gain respect get bored quickly.

I’ve been playing since October and have been hanging around the UN forums since early December but I still haven’t worked up the courage to RP in this forum yet.
I guess I’m scared of doing something really wrong, being called a noob, and loosing all credibility.

As long as you're aiming for good RP, you can't really go wrong. And don't worry what anyone calls you, I've been called a newb before (and maybe I am, but am I going to let it bother me? Hardly!)

n00bs are intolerable. But newbs are great. It's good to see fresh blood around here.
God, I can't believe I was a n00b. Back in the day when they'd fight back if you declared war on everyone. Operation: Righteous Smackdown.
*shakes a walking cane*
Damn n00bs! Git off mah lawn! Back in mah day, we had to <insert hardship here> just to <insert asinine task here>.
*continues muttering about n00bs and back pain*
But seriously, I think fresh blood every so often is a good thing. Besides, the really bad n00bs will eventually leave, its just a matter of putting up with the stupidity until they get bored.
