OK, this is a cool game, I've got a cool name, everything's going good except... :o I'm space tech and most of the really good RP on here is from modern tech nations!
So... here's a bare-bones alternate history of Roseway, in a timeline subject to change, sometimes complete, whenever I feel like it:
A.D. 1870
American filibuster Robert Rose arrives in what would have become southern Panama with a group of his armed American friends. They demand control of the government.
A.D. 1873
Rose becomes hereditary President of the English-speaking United State of Roseway.
A.D. 1902
Rosewegian land sold to America for building of Panama Canal.
A.D. 1916
Roseway enters Great War in Europe. Cowardice of Rosewegians becomes global joke.
A.D. 1940
Roseway enters Second World War by attacking Japanese-held islands. This sets off a series of events that leads to strong alliance with Allies and a goodly amount of trade, as well as a big improvement of foreign opinion about Roseway.
A.D. 1951
Rosewegian economy completely collapses. Economic aid not given by "allies."
A.D. 1965
Roseway's economy rises from nearly a decade and a half of poverty to world benchmark because of computer sales.
A.D. 2000
Y2K, while not hurting much of the world, causes Rosewegian economy to collapse again.
A.D. 2005
Outlook is good. President is still in Rose line, economy recovered very, very fast, and its alliance with China sets it on the fast track in the world market. Unfortunately, its advanced technologies are pretty much obsolete, so Rosewegian spies are forced to steal American tech.
