It has come to our attention that the great Octavion Maleficus, a Dire
Arachnia citizen, has been illegally detained in Lemmitania. We are
petitioning for his freedom, until it has been proved if he ate Lemmy

So? Maybe this Lemmy Meisterbrau needed to be eaten! Maybe Maleficus has done us all a favor! Didja ever think of that! Hmmm!

I mean, he's a Giant Evil Spider! What did they expect? Miss Manners? We lose the occassional excess citizen every now and then - these Giant Evil Spiders do like their snacks. Get over yourselves, and get on with things!

Have you Lemmitanian's listened to these Giant EVIL Spiders? I mean, they call us "tasty puny humans" for Pete's sake! And you invited him in. Come into my parlor, said the lemming to the spider.

Just let 'im go. And, keep an eye on the "tasty puny humans" he passes on his way out.

An Open Letter:

Well, it's about time someone took a stand! These Giant Evil Spiders have been roaming all around, and eating everything human in their path that they can. We see the arrest and detention of this Maleficus as definitely a step in the right direction. These Huge Malfeasent Arachnids must be made to understand that the eating of human beings - in fact, the eating of any sentient being - will not be tolerated.

Of course, it is absolutely necessary that this Maleficus be given due process of law. He has been, so far, simply arrested and detained. A proper court of law, in accordance with Lemmitanian law, must be convened, and all the evidence presented and sifted through. Maleficus must be allowed to present his defense, with the assistance of counsel. And the verdict must be arrived at in compliance with all Lemmitanian and International laws that apply.

Then burn him alive.

It has come to our attention that a number of sovereign foreign nations have expressed concern over the wellbeing of the Dire Arachnid citizen Octavarion Maleficus who is currently being detained by Lemmitanian authorities in connection with the disappearance, and presumed devouring, of unfortunate, harmless sports celebrity Lemuel Meisterbrau. We would like to assure our international colleagues that Maleficus has not been destroyed or otherwise severely harmed, and is being held under humane conditions in an undisclosed location. No rash or premature action will be taken against this hideous giant spider without adequate evidence having been amassed against him.

Thank you for your interest in this private matter, and please do not hesitate to get stuffed should the opportunity avail upon you.
