"...nyone out there? Hello any station. This is random five seven,
broadcasting for any receiver. Please reply. Repeat, is there anyone out
there? Hello any station. This is random five seven, broadcasting for any
receiver. Please reply."
The comms sergeant repeated his broadcast again, this time in Dai/Chinese. And then again, in Stalli/Swiss-German.
He turned to the group of men huddled over a map nearby. "Captain,
still no reply."
The captain, a tall handsome man, was utterly lost. After having passed
through the dense fog, the Long Range Surveillance Platoon had become
bewildering lost. The map didn't seem to match the terrain. The
discrepancies had reached the point where Captain Oliver had called a halt to
determine their location. Nothing seen from the glen matched the map. The GPS locators weren't functioning properly.
The comms sergeant had been trying to establish an outside connectionfor hours, without luck.
Suddenly, the radio crackled to life...

OOC: This is invite only, for the moment. Thank you. It will be open soon.

Victoria Blackspots was at her home, in the city of Moo Moo Farm, listening carefully to her radio. Suddenly, she intercepted the message from the Daistallian soldiers. She wasn't a member of any police squad or anything, but just a simple afficionate.
She called her husband...
"Honey, come here, listen to this"
Both bovinoids heard the message.

Victoria grabbed the microphone and answered. Luckily, she understanded chinese.
"Uh... Hello?
I'm Victoria Blackspots a hell bovinian citizen.
Are you lost? Do you need any help?"

On the edges of ANA territory Joanna Kekov and her two companions Nika Nika Squeee and Brelt Freet were just coming off a long run patrolling the whale run close to the main coninent, several pods having been hit heavily by out of season Orca, suddenly a blinking light alerted her to unknown radio traffic, her brows knitting she flicked a switch and listened to it

"Nika, Brelt, we've got what seems to be a landgoers S.O.S. her, see what you think.."

Joanna presses another button and the message is transmitted to the two armoured dolphins swimming alongside her Blacktip patrol sub.

"If Pod hurt all should help, not play if lost in dark!" Nika, the female dolphin replies.

Brelt chimes in "Gun men, chasing lost is silly, play is dangerous!"

An irritated Nika darts at Brelt, the two chase each other around the cruising sub for a few seconds before Joana rolls her eyes and snaps out over the coms.

"Calm down you two.. sorry Brelt, I'm going with Nika on this one.."

Flicking comms switch to transmit she says

"Random five seven, this is ANA patrol Coral four dash zero, we read you, are you in need of assistance?"

" Captain, we have a reply! Appears to be a civilian transmission."
Captain Oliver walked over and listened.
" Hell Bovines? That sounds familiar...."
He picked up the mike.
" This is random five seven to Victoria Blackspots. We are a Daistallian military patrol investigating the White Fog phenomenon. We appear to have become lost and have been unable to establish contact with anyone. Can you give us your location, please?"

Just then, the second message came through.

"First Hell Bovines then ANA? We must be getting some odd atmospheric effects.... We shouldn*t be recieving beyond Lancre," noted the comms sergeant.
" ANA patrol Coral four dash zero, this is random five seven. We read you. We are a Daistallian military patrol investigating the White Fog. We appear to have become somewhat dissoriented. Our navigation locators do not appear to be functioning.
We are in contact with a Victoria Blackspots from Hell Bovines? Can you assist?"

Joanna's eyebrows went up under her helmet at the response, her fingers tapping out a message pulseto the nearest base.

"Da, random five seven, I have requested a scout group be sent to this area imeadiately, we will attempt to triangulate your position"

after that a second transmision comes over the comms, its the clicking and whirs of dolphin speak, overlayed with a translation in a female voice

"Is Nika Nika Squeee, Lost pod, in scare fight? persons hurt?"
Daistallia 2104
23-01-2004, 14:43
"Thank you patrol Coral four dash zero. We look forwards to your asistance."
After the second transmission comes through, the comms sergeant looks at Captain Oliver, at lost after the latter transmission. The captain shrugs.
"Nikka Nicha skawhat? Ask them to re-transmit."

"Umm, Nikka Nicha skawee? This is random five seven. Last transmission was garbled. Please re-transmit."

Joanna furrowed her brow and nodded to herself, replying to the transmission.

"That was one of my Pod Partners Nika, she was inquiring if you have any injured people with you. Dont worry, their speech patterns take a little getting used to"

With that she slides her craft round and sets up a holding pattern, waiting for the scout group to arrive, the two dolphins venturing around, exploring, the sea floor being quite shallow here, close to the landmass.

Captain Oliver looked at his assembled team. "Pod partner?"

Joanna replies

"Roger that random five seven, we will stay on station for now, please keep your comm open so we can track you"

The two dolphins return, Nika tapping the canopy of the fighter sup with her armoured snout to get Joanna's attention.

"Man pod no hurt? no fight?"

"No Nika, they do not sound as though they have been in combat"

With that a rather smug Nika berates Brelt in fast dolphin speak.

Elsewhere, at a military waystation along the whale runs a small group of three Tope scouts have left their bays and put their MHD engines into overdrive, winging towards Joanna's position.

Inside the contorting stomach of fog the powerful radio waves were chaotically distorted, at times dissolving into a sudden uplift of moist air while some were powerfully ejected out across Greenfields. The unusual electromagnetic distortion around the sweeping cloud had drawn the attention of both meteorologists, scientists various militaries.

Of them included a meteorological monitoring satellite belonging to the Biotopian Mona Lisa University. As well a much closer communication relay station belonging to the Federal Republic. In a tiny box dimly glowing with LCDs the play of lights continued for a second before a gentle humming began to grow and the flickering of lights increased, until the entire box was brightly lit, beaconing the regions security services….

"Uh, yes. We are on 342 Santoro St.
Oh! You want the coordinates, right?
Wait a second, please."
She starts revolving the stuff on the drawer chest, searching for a map.
She finds it.

"I think Moo Moo Farm city is latitude north 17", longitude East 31"
"Are you ok? Do you need any asistance?"

While she talked in the radio, her husband was calling the police at the 912.
Police: "Hello. Policia Bovina here. What is your problem?"
Roberto: "Hello. I'm Roberto Blackspots. I'm calling because my wife intercepted a signal in her radio from human soldiers lost in a white fog."
Police: "A white fog, you say? Let me guess... You smoked a grass cigar don't you? Don't worry, just rest on your bed and you'll stop seeing white fog"
Roberto: "You don't understand! This is serious! The soldiers are from Daistallia. They seem to be lost"
The policecow seem to doubt....
Police: "Don't worry, I'll warn the government about this terrible disgrace"
Roberto: "Thanks"

*Another weed smoker who sees white fog, it's the 7th this week*, the policecow though to himself.
*Holy cow, Grass is to eat, not to smoke.*
He then quickly forgot about the 'bothersome junkies' and continued to play cards with his companions, at a boring afternoon in the police station.

At the same time, in a local observatory, Dr. Segundo Pinkishcow was working when he noticed a weird electromacnetic distortion.
"Hey, Nurm. Call the police or the army or something. I'm seeing something very weird...."

He picks up the mike. "Thank you Ms. Blackspots. We are in contact with a patrol craft on the coast who are preparing to assist. Uhmmm, did you say
Muu-Muu Farm city is latitude north 17", longitude East 31?"

As Dr. Segundo Pinkishcow watches, the air begins to shimmer. At first a hazy almost distant hard to detect motion is seen. Suddenly it becomes quite distinct and clear. Three men and a woman, dressed in human street clothes walk out of nowhere into the observatory. They stare at Dr. Pinkishcow. The woman screams.

Accross Greenfeilds, similar incidents begin occuring.

A chill went through Nurm's spine.
Suddenly, he turns around and sees a group of humans, three males and a female, right in the middle of the observatory - They were dressed as civilians, with jeans, t-shirts and clothing totally different from that of hell bovines.
The woman screamed and the two bovines covered their sensible ears until the noise ended.
With worried, yet gentle looks on their faces, the bovinoids asked:
"Who are you?"
Then, Segundo spoke to the pale-faced woman: "Don't worry, we won't harm you."
"What are you doing here? How did you entered?"

Despite their calmed faces however, the hell bovines were terrified. For example, for Segundo, it was the first time he met a human.....

Captain Min regreted taking this assignment. The White Fog had be approaching the coast and it was becoming erratic. But the money was good, and crude oil had to get through for fuel. When the fog appeared around the DSS Hina, Captain Min (being very experienced) took it in stride and took the neccessary precautions.

As Joanna and her Pod Partners escorted the tanker into deeper water, a burst transmission from the scout group leader crackles in her headphones.

"Coral four dash zero, this is Flash six Command, we have a triangulation on your targets position, uploading coardinates now.."

Data starts flickering across one of her display screens, which with a touch of a button flickers to an over head map of the nearby land, the squads location pinpointed with a little yellow arrow, her eyes narrowed for a second, Joanna flicks over to the lost squad's frequency.

" Random five seven, this is Coral four dash zero, we have a pinpoint on your location, you are in unregistered territory, just North East of you about half a kilometer is a large river, if you head towards that, we can pick you up."

Joanna's face fell, and the two dolphins squeaked in suprise.

"Man lost man! careless!" chimes in Brelt

"Now Now Brelt, we dont know what circumstances might have brought them here.."
.oO(God knows what those could be!) Jaonna thinks to herself.

Quickly she taps out a pulse communication to the nearby Waystation. This time luck was on her side, because of the alert these strange occurances had brought about, two Roamer class transports were sitting in their bays, engines turning over, within a few minutes they were out and heading towards Joanna's position.

"Random five seven, two transports are on their way, I will be acting a scout to make sure they have safe passage, so I will meet you up river, once i have found a sutiable embarkment point, I will activate my transponder for you to home in on..."

Allready close in to the shallows, it didn't take Joanna long, with the help of her Pod Partners, to find the entrance to the large river and with a careful hand on the controls, she pushes her subfighter against the sluggish current, forging inland.

Nosing her sub, now on the surface, through the gathering thick fog, Joanna makes sure the readings her instruments are giving her are well within tolerance for the transports. An hour or so later, a large rock formation looms out of the swirling mists, the hard solid surface falling off in a sheer drop into the river water.

"Perfect," Joanna mumbles " Brelt, Nika, could you check out thatrock formation? it looks like a good spot for a natural pier."

Squeaking, the two dolphins dart foreward and start ducking and diving around the rocks, before long they head back and a rather desolute Nika whistles in.

"Armour not good! no mouth! no eating! no good.."

Even Brelt sounded a little more down than usual.

"Many crunchy big claws, no can eat, come back?"

Joanna breathed a sigh of relief, if all the dolphins were worried about was food, then the rocks were safe.

"No Brelt, we have to help these people first.."

A quick glance told her the transports had entered the mouth of the river and were not to far behind, making their slow way upriver.
With a delicate hand controling her movement, it wasn't long before the small one man fighter up was pulled up alongside the rock formation, its AdhesAnchors lovking it into place alongside the outcrop, a quick flick and the transponder was pulsing out loud and clear.

"Ok, well, here goes nothing.."

Taking a deep breath, Joanna popped the hatch and climbed out onto unfamiliar land, the open sky and lack of water around her making her feel slightly uncomfortable, but with the encouraging whistles of the dolphins and her own determination, she waited.

The point element of the patrol stops as the sight. The sergeant signals the appearance of safety. Captain Oliver approaches stealthily. When he gets to the point element, he stops and examines the sub, the dolphins, and Joanna.
"Hmm... strange, but it looks safe enough."
He stands and walks forward.
"Hello, I am Captain Oliver...."

Joanna raises an eyebrow, then pulls of an ANA salute (a tap against the chest, something dolphins can do to)

"Captain Joanna Kekov"

She gestures behind her at the two power armoured dolphins

"These are my Pod Partners Brelt and Nika,"

The two dolphins salute, then squeak and whistle a greeting.
the noise overlayed with a translation emitted by their onboard translators.

"Tall, tall man! many lost more in steam?
"Big march, no gun people, many lost more? hurt?"

Joanna pinches the bridge of her nose, she was feeling a little agitated on land.
"Apologies, Brelt wants to know if there are any more lost people, and Nika is asking if any of the civilians are injured."

She looks down river, her eyes narrowed in concentration for a minute.

"Its going to be abouyt another hour before the transports arrive, allthough I dont know WHERE we are going to transport you to, I think the first priority will be to get you and your people out of the elements and to where there is a warm bed and hot food. SO, with your permission Captain, I would like to move you all to Waystation 12 on Lobster ridge, from there we can figure out where your going to next.."

She lets out a deep breath and pulls a flask from behind her.

"Coffee?

Captain Oliver eyes the dolphins, then shrugs. I'll worry about how they did that later. First things first. he thinks.
Then he says "Coffee would be great, thank you. Our medic has checked over the civilians, and nobody seems to be seriously hurt. And we could all use a hot meal and some sleep."
The comms sergeant walks up. "Captain we have contact with a Daistallian command."
The captain excuses himself breifly.
He comes back. "We may have more on the way. We just made contact with elements of another Daistallian unit who are lost."

"Nope, aparently we tried that, there was some problem with toxicity, so the gene labs had to create something that was edible by humans and farmable up to 2000 meters beneath the sea, of course coffee was one of the last things they did, what with it being a luxury and all, the others, wheat-weed, potato-kelp, all others that were a nessecity to survival, were first."

Joanna notices his interest in the subs, and smiles.

Gene labs? 2000m? Wheat-weed and potato-kelp? Necessary for survival? Something is seriously wrong here. he thinks.

"

She speaks into the communicator again, something about 'shallow deployment of Emergency Habitats'

"2000 meters? oh dont worry, you dont have a Byron Organ,"

She taps her side, about where her liver is

"Thats why I chose Lobster Ridge, its only ten meters down, if I take you to any deeper place, you'd be confined inside the habitat due to preasure, and I guess you guys would feel kind of uncomfortable with that.

She taps her chin thoughtfully.

"Besides, its very spread out, it had to be built that way so it remained out of the weather impact zone near the surface, so that means plenty of roaming space, and allthough the people are a little rustic, they are very friendly."

She looks around, the two transports were nose to tail parallel ot the shore, suddenly there was a slight bubbling around each as they released their emergency habitats.

"I'll be one minute,"

Joanna goes to the edge of the rock outcrop and starts talking to the dolphins, whom with a nod of their armoured heads flip up and over, dissapearing beneath the water, Joanna walks back to the Captain.

Then it dawned on her..

"oh.. I see, no Captain, it is not an experiment, we only have about 50 square miles of land above sea, and a population of several hundred million, and that is growing all the time. The majority of us live beneath the sea."

She looks over to where the dolphins are bobbing around in the water.

"As to the dolphins, they are uplifted, as inteligent as you or I, communicating with them can be tiresome, their minds work differently from ours, but it works, mainly thanks to translators for us, dolphins cant form human words, and humans cannot squeak in the ranges dolphin speak needs."

My word. She seems to speak fluent English, but... well, maybe it7s because she's a researcher. The lab types sometimes have trouble communicating... thought the Captain.

Coming out of the hatch with what looks like a tupperware box in her hands, she starts prising the lid off.

"As to the tech, well, with Geothermal power plants providing most of our energy and heating needs, the Osmatic membrane providing air and the Byron organ preventing nitrogen sickness and preasure related problems, its more of a matter of changing how you think about being beneath the sea."

The four large drumlike objects that were to become the emergency habitats had been manouvered into place by the dolphins, once the heavy items were on the river floor, automatic securing bolts fired into the rock beneath, once implaced, water started to flood inbetween the double skin of the dome, mixing with chemicals that turned it into a gel. Inside the dome, the remaining part of the emergency package slowely released air to preasurize the dome from the inside and give it its shape while the gel started to set to a solid, milky white substance. Beneath the surface, their tops just vissible, sit four large domes.

Joanna wades out into the water and helps the dolphins push the extending entrance out onto dry land, its cross section is rectangular like a door each rib of the tube being made of the same hardened gel, the connecting material being some clear reinforced plastic, along the base of the tube runs a walkway of some rubberized substance. The front of the tube is sealed by some of the same flexible plastic.

"Ok, I just have to secure the entrance."

She pulls the extending tube well out onto the rock, down both sides of the entrance are two one shot bolt guns, which she activates, securing the tube into thew rock with two foot and a half bolts.

"Ok, that should stay like that, but even if it does become disconnected, the seal will keep the water out."

With which she unzips what looks like a ziplock system around the edge of the first plastic door, folding it out of the way to allow the Captains entrance to the first chamber, when hes in she seals it again, then turns to the second inner door and unseals that, when both are through she reseals it.

"Ok, this is the first airlock system, even if flooded with water it can be cycled into air manually."

She points to strips of metal that run the inside of the first chamber.

"Those are memory metal strips, when activated they coil up like a spring, drawing the front door and the inner door together like this.."

She activates it, the metal coils up and there is a hissing as the air is forced out of the first chamber.

"That gets rid of water just as well, and when it is completely empty of water, it can be cycled back to air, just by de-activating the memory metal strips, which will extend the first chamber to its full size, drawing air from inside the tunnel to fill it.. now.. follow me."

Joanna walks down the tube following it as it runs down the river bed and under one of the domes, where she cycles through another airlock and climbs up a ladder that is set into the solidified wall.

"Up here we go into a secondary chamber "

Up the ladder is a room, like a slice of pie, with a large section of the point cut off, the inner walls all seem to be some sort of durable, opaque plastic that acts as a membrane between the hardened walls and ceiling, a soft glow comes from panels in the ceiling, and the air is ambient warm, a clear panel gives a small veiw out into the water, one of the dolphins swims past.

"The light is provided by something the tecs came up with, it has something to do with the glowing lights on deep sea creatures, I dont know the specifics exactly, but they managed to recreat whatever the glowing stuff was.. The warmth you are feeling is left over from the chemical reaction that took place in the walls to make the gel, a tiny network of elements in those walls keeps the tempreture warm, being powered by a chemical battery, its good for about 4 days, with another spare battery in the main chamber"

After cycling the second air lock, she unseals the door pointing to the middle of the dome, and steps into the main chamber.

"Ok, this is the main room.. most of the emergency supplies are here"

The chamber is circular, with 18 doors leading off, the one that the two have just stepped through is marked 'airlock', 15 others are marked rooms 1 - 15, the remaining two are marked 'toilet' and 'life support', in the centre of the chamber is a large sealed plastic crate, which Joanna opens.

"Ok, in here you've got your basic supplies, wnough rations for 30 people for a week, "

She points to stacks of plastic containers.

"And here we have medical supplies.."

She taps a large container in the centre of the crate,

"Sleeping bags for 30 people."

She pulls out an object the size of a large book, held together with straps, she undoes the straps and shakes out a full sized sleeping bag, the insulated filling expanding to quilt it.

"Right then, toilet is over there, through the door marked toilet, it works by flushing the waste into a digestion sac with water, where the liquid is squeezed out, and the remaining waste is digested by a special activated bacteria, the residue, which is inert and harmless, is released into the water, aparently it makes quite a good fertilizer for sea weed.."

She pulls out what looks like a folded full face gas mask with ribbons of some strange material coming from the face peice.

"Ok, these are emergency rebreathers incase you need to go out, theres 15 in here, if you need to get everyone out, just march them into the tube, disconnect it and it will float to the surface,"

Joanna holds out container of red pills.

"These are most important if your down deep and have to do an emergency surface, its Dinitrodalin, its whats released normaly by the Byron Organ, it prevents the problems of Nitrogen sickness."

She stands up and walks towards the life support door an opens it.

"Ok, here we have the most important room, through this device here, air is brought up from the Osmatic membranes festooning the bottom of the dome."

Her finger taps against a bar readout on the side

"This tells you how much air is being produced in relation to how much is being used, dont worry though, you'll only see it going down if you are using the airlocks exessively, not a problem since the entrance is out onto the surface. Air is distributed through the dome by a network of tubing set into the hardened walls. over there is the chemical battery system with its spare."

Turning to a network of expanded bags against one wall, each one with a plastic spigot, se points to them slowly filling with water.

"Drinking water comes from the water around you, there is a network of large, pulsing 'sacks' beneath the dome, each one 'squeezes' water from itelf into the next one, passing it through a purifying filter each time."

Standing, she breaths a sigh of relief and turns to the Captain.

"Ok, i think thats it.. any questions?

"Cows have more than one stomach, and with their intelligence they can control their digestion better than normal cows can."

She jumps the rest of the way down the ladder into the first chamber that leads int the tube, her voice comes out.

"OK, you shouldn't get to cold, after all we are only going to the shore, just put the rebreather on and breath normaly, it might be different from what your normaly used to, slightly more effort is needed to breath out, its because in this model you have to force your waste air into the membranes, but dont worry, its just a matter of getting used to it."

Waiting until the Captain has his on, she zip seals the entrance, and then twists two circular valves in the floor of the chamber, whixh then alowely starts to flood.

When completely flood, she unzips the exit and steps out onto the river bed, the Dome hanging over head, glowing an eery purple, with many fronds of Osmatic membrane wafting gently in the sluggish current.

Meanwhile... the physics department at MLU is getting rather excieted and several black helicopters had swarmed out of the Federal Republic's capital before conveys of shiny black jeeps and armoured vehicles began to roll out towards the fog. In the seas several ships began to alter direction.

The chairman of the physics department of MLU walks into his office to find a disheveled elderly human in a ratty sportcoat, looking over his bookshelf.

OOC: NHU, did you mean this guy, our top experimental physicist - until now....

She blinks a little,

"didn't think landgoers would have much use for them, as to why im showing it, your people need to know how to use if,.. if they are going to use it.. right?"

She seems a little taken aback at the Captains attitude.

"Greenfields, the Region your in.. The Non Human Union is the central body here... as to whats going on, I responded to a distress call that i could have chosen not to attend, but I didn't, as a result, your people are getting help.."

At this point the two dolphins surface just off the bank.

"Dolphin scare when dolphin lost! Man lost!"
Bjelt squeaks
"Joanna Nice! no shout, play!"
Nika whistles.

Joanna sighs and picnhes the bridge of her nose, a characteristic movement for her..

"Thank you Bjelt, thank you"

Joanna chuckles and sits down on the sand and watches the two transports jostyling for position at the rock outcrop.

"Yes, I think in your shoes, I to would be somewhat peturbed by it all, and Im sorry again, Im afraid we ANAns lead a pretty sheltered life, not much outside contact, so im not to familiar with the varying outside technology, i do know that even though our Marine tech is very good, others that we dont use are not, like land based vehicles for instance."

She looks over at the dolphins who seem to be busy chattering in their own tongue.

"Uplifted, it's something that happened a while back in our past, going by dolphin terminology, as far as we can work it out i probably happened about 5 to 6 generations ago, before the great blight, some genetisist pretty much re wrote their DNA and made them sentient.."

One eyebrow quirks down as the two dolphin go off and start chasing river fish.

"Allthough intelligence is debatable,"
She smiles
"Actually they are very inteligent in their own way, just because they are sentient doesn't mean they think like ordinary human beings, their instincts and how they relate to the world is still very different, but, with time, you get used to it and they start making sense! thats why human children are brought up with dolphin pups, they interact at an early age.
The group become pod partners, like family."

She claps her hand once, and allmost instantly two armoured dolphins heads pear out of the water.

"Why dont you try talking to them? when you listen to them, dont desmiss what they say at face value, think about their answers, you might be suprised!!

OOC: At this point approximately 20 million people should have arrived around Greenfeilds. (This would include about 75,000-100,000 military personel, some in combat vehicles.) All are completely dispersed. The largest groups to have arrived are 100-150 people. Captain Oliver is actually the highest ranking military officer and representative of the old government to have made it through. For anyone interested, this will make roughly 900 million missing from Daistallia (10 million refugees escaped), which may well make it the largest non-military, non-man-made RP disaster in NS history, as far as I know... :D

“This is an e-band broadcast from the Federal Republic of the Non-Human Unions. A state of emergency has been called across Greenfields. An unaccountable fog has been appearing across the entire region, the fog is linked with the appearance of humans from the unknown nation of ‘Daistallia’.

Do not approach unidentified humans, do not approach the fog. Local authorities are being instructed on how to deal with the Daistallians. You local broadcasting agency will be able to advise you on your governments’ response to the fog. Do not panic, the majority of Daistalians are unarmed civilians. If you are unable to avoid contact approach calmly and inform the authorities as soon as possible.

If you are Daistallian do not panic. You are in the Greenfields region, occupied by primarily non-human nations. You will not be harmed, if you are of military personnel or armed, you must stand down now and disarm yourself. If you do not you will be considered a hostile threat and fired upon.

National forces including the police, emergency services and the military have been mobilised to rescue Daistallians in distress and begin the interning of Daistallians. You are not being imprisoned, but you cannot refuse internment, this is for your own safety ad ours, until we are better able to organise our facilities to meet the sudden influx of refugees.

In fact you are the Captain with the greatest seniority. Also, I can confirm that there are at least 87,354 Daistallian military personnel in the region."
"Sergeant, send out the following to all forces and civilians, and on the frequencies given:
This is Captain Oliver of the Daistallian Special Operations Command. As the senior ranking officer, I order all units to comply with the requests just broadcast by the Non-Human-Union. I can confirm you will be treated well."
He thinks a second.
"And make damned sure it reaches that sub. "
He turns to Joanna.
"Well, Captain, seems I really am completely in charge. How can I get in contact with who I need to in federal government?"
He stops. "Oh, and I suppose you want this to?" He unslings his assault rifle and offers it.

The OOD looks at the telexs from the NHU and Captain Oliver.
"Chief, send the Captain a message: Have suffered a colision or attack by unknown forces. Awaiting orders."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OOC: Just some figures I put together on expected reactions of Daistallians to this situation:
5% will embrace the situation - "Cool!! Real live aliens."
15% will suffer some initial shock, but accept the situation enthusiastically.
60% will suffer some shock, and accept the situation reluctantly.
15% will suffer a great deal of shock causing mild PTSD.
And 5 % will suffer sever shocks and extreme PTSD.

Joanna was to busy on her on comm unit to notice the men staring at her,

"Yes sir, I understand, yes sir..yes, Im here with him now.."

She looks up just as the Captain starts talking to her.

"Well, Ive been 'attatched' to you as the ANA liason officer, it seems the Joint Chiefs find it handy having a member of our nation here, so communications wise, there are several optiuons, i can patch you into our comms network through my sub, but we'll need a booster just to make it secure, so Ill link it to the radio system in the Habitats, that hould give you all the communications you need."

She smiles wrly,

"Looks like your stuck with me for a while longer.."

Her face hardens a little at the offer of the rifle

"Captain, we are assisting you, not accepting your surrender, please keep it, this area of Greenland is unexplored and has been uninhabited, there is no telling what is out here."

She smiles again

"Allthough it is traditional in ANA society for the exchanging of small gifts on occasions like this, I will not disarm you."

Commander Birmingham flicked through the print out of the messge they had just recived.

"What the.. this has got to be a joke, there is no way that many refugees could appear at once..."

His eyes turn back to the sub

"Ok, lets see how understanding they are, make message to target sub as follows. 'Unknown submarine, we are requesting you to make your way to a safe are aproximately .."

The commander takes a second to look at a display map on one of the VDUs

"eight kilometer from here, bearing 67 degrees from your current course, the vessel sensetive are you are in is directly above one of our Habitat cities, and you are causing a possible hazard to civilians."

Accross Greenfields refugees pour into internment centers (which I assume are largely concentrated in the area designated for us on the recent map...)

Military units are mostly standing down. A very few are not - mostly due to sever shock.

Captain Oliver says "Well, I am glad to hear that you are the liason. We will need all the friends we can make. Thanks for letting me keep this - we must trade trophies later." :D
"Now lets see about patching me through to that sub..."

Lt. Haek mutters "Cities? What cities are undersea?"
The comms chief patches Captain Oliver through.
"Captain? This is Lieutenant Haek. What is the score?"
"Lieutenant, you are not under attack. Repeat you are not under attack. Stand down your weapons and allow the ANA subs to escort you to a safe area."

"Con, bring her to bearing 67. Engines ahead slow."

And, as the citizens enter the camps, a number of people in a certrain high mountain camp identify a very important figure. A small elderly man dressed in the simple robes of a Whilan monk, with a pleasant smile, he greets everyone with a short nod of the head.

He is modest, but soon attracts significant attention. After a short rest, he asks to be taken to Captain Oliver.

OOC: For anyone familiar, you should recognize this character. Yes, the Whilan Lama made it. :) Those who are not familiar with this character are in for a pleasant experience.

Joanna remains with Captain Oliver, helpng set up the camp at the side of the river, the citizens that have suffered from exposure have been taken to the nearby Waystation of Lobster Ridge and by now, the dolphins have popped their armour and are swimming freely up and down the river, scouting for new survivors.

"So, Captain, plans for the future?"

Joanna says while she is imersed in one of the Habitats emergency radios, connecting it into the Network through her sub.

meanwhile, the ANAS Kestefeld and the two Recoil subs esort the Seawolf to an area of sea that is supported by a large civilian hospital sub, now on the surface and acting as a dispersion point for emergency supplies.

The Captain looks at Joanna. "Well, we will settle in here. If The White Fog ever lifts from Daistallia, we will go home, but it doesn*t look good. We have much to learn."

OOC: And this my friends brings part two of the story to an end. The third part will begin shortly, with luck and the co-operation of the forum gods and the server hamster.... Those who have followed the story, I thank you. Those who have participated, I thank you even more. :D
