Alexander shuddered as he sat on his throne. As the oldest of the "Creators," a group of immortal archmages, Alexander was the one who had "created" the world.. His age bearing heavily upon him. Having reigned over the world for more than five millenia, Alexander was tired of ruling... It was not the first time that he felt the price of immortality...
Immortality... Such a great gift, yet so painful... Such a heavy price... Immortality...
With a weary wave of his hand, the rest of the Creators stepped into the room. Agazi, Talisk, Oragkon, and Raskdi. The four Creators bowed politely to Alexander.
Friends, the time has come for my departure from this world. The same will occur to you soon too... The price of immortality has become too strong... I cannot bear the weight of my age... Thus, we are gathered here today to choose five people to bestow the gift and the price of immortality upon to continue our work... You my friends will search the Four Lands and find those worthy. Do not fail...
Weary, Alexander and his fellow "Creators" descended from his mountain home and into the Four Lands. Alexander had already one guy, who he felt was the right one, the master swordmaster, Amadeus Crusade.

OOC: Ah, real fantsy, like old school, even better, let me rewrite this.
IC:
The outline of the young female slid though the camp. The gaurds didn't notice her sliding through the night, as the potion granted her the ability to bend light around her body. She lept from tent to tent, alert to noise and movement.
As she approached the final tent, she removed teh two daggers from their respective sheaths on her back. She held them loosley at her side, and ducked behind a try as the potion wore off.
She was now visable, and needed to move quickly. She took off in a brief run, and lept into the air. She covered a good forty feet with her jump, and landed with a soft thud. She spun sideways into one of the tents, and a man of arabian descent looked up at her. Their eyes met. "Who are..."
He never got the chance to finish as she ducked and rolled behind him, stood, and placed the edge of both blades against his neck. In one swift pull, she drew the blades across his neck, and blood sprayed from his artery.
"Ashad Akbar, you will never have the chance to sell women into slavery again. I am Ayme Katsumi of the Kawada Clan, and I have seen the end of your injustice."
She stepped back, sipped the invisability potion, and disapeard into the night.
As Ayme Katsumi ran into the night, he was stopped by a figure who froze Ayme with a single motion of his hand. The figure was the Creator of all Living Things, Oragkon.
Ayme Katsumi, you have been chosen...
The wind and the rain punished the lifeless island, the sotrm upon it was one of the worser than had occured. A lighting blast crashed down from the heaven's mailed fist, obliterating a dead tree, turning it's deadened and wasted gnarled limbs into ash, which promply adapted to it's new possibilities, and took flight, embracing the freedom that death brought.
Another flash in the sky which seemed angered at this small island which housed this being. This sad pitiful being which has taken up this island has a place of solitude to himself, to escape the pain of deeds done. Yet he found this place tormenting, yet he accepted it.
The rain battered the small cave at the top of the mountain on the island. Kain looked out to the ocean, looking as the spectres of death that he could only see, glide and cackle upon those bitter waves, mocking Kain for the things they robbed the ones he loved, and denied him thier chilling touch of death. Kain looked at them, as the waith like creatures gleefully rode upon the waves, circling the island. There was no life here.....only a soul. Well....two bound together for obligation.
Kain watched as the rushing water of from heaven's salty tears came down, weeping for this being. It proved no solace. Only another memory, which could never be washed away as the dead ground did under the constant weeping of the heavens.
"Daniella always loved the rain." Kain said softly, as he watched the rain come down. Feeling it upon his skin, a welcome, if unforfilling effort to forget and set his mind on other things. The liquid was cold, yet his mind was chilled by his experiances more than any chill of this world could freeze.
Kain replayed the thoughts in his head. They were maddening to him...Kain walked out of the safety of his small dwelling, which held his books, his diaries, his spellbooks, the physical incarnation of the Brightblade.
Again? The demon asked Kain, knowing the answer. It found little enjoyment in it, but like Kain, he needed diversions. Yet the Brightblade had hope for release, had a future. Kain did not want a future, and what little "hope" there was, was in his final death.
Yes. Kain replied telepathically. A purple flash of lighting struck the ocean, a wild column of water buckled under the parent's cruelity.
Kain walked up to the top of the moutain, the rain beating down upon his green skin, his cloven feet digging into the mud as he walked up determined, his face grim as the water streamed down his leathery features.
Upon the top, the heavens bellowed again, the rain coming down harder, the purple thunder coming down more frequently. Kain did not care. He closed his eyes and held his talons out. He held out his hands, and began to perform.
He began to fight an illusion. One which was himself, a copy, one which he had control of and was concious of him. Rather, conciousness was shared. It was mind-bendingly difficult, yet Kain did it easily. The demon had granted him knowledge that no other being knew, the arcane had been expanded...the boundries broken.
He fought himself, his frustration coming out. The two sparred, each equally match, yet both pushing themselves to the limit. They only used thier fists, it was far better. It sent Kain's mind away from the pain, for breif seconds, he was fighting his own demons....more literally sometimes.
Time passed strangely. He did not know how long he had been fighting. Minutes. Hours. Days. Years. Decades. All there was the moment of rage against his own thoughts, blanketing them out. The storm continued to rage around him te purple streaked lighting was errie in the darkened sky, populated with thier rage filled black coloured clouds.
Someone approaches.
Kain stopped, the copy disappeared. Kain walked to the edge of the barren, water beaten mud, and looked out to sea.
Why am I never left alone? Kain thought, and crossed his arms, looking at the crackle of the purple lighting, each blast illuminating his face, making him seem like a ghastly apparation.
A ghostly figure descended from the heavens.
I am Talisk, the "Creator" of War and the Hunt... Kain Irenicus, you have been chosen...
Balfar sat atop a massive mountain peak, watching the land under him. Things were about to change. He could sense it. After many years of plowing through the forests and deserts of the world, in search of magical knowledge, Balfar needed rest.
He thought about his old days as a demon. About what he would be doing if he hadn't been caught in that holy blast. But all that was over. He was human now. An extremely powerful mage, but human nonetheless.
This land was quiet. Balfar enjoyed the peace here. This place wasn't so concerned with the rest of the world. It was just worried about it's own little world.
He looked up as he sensed great powers moving throught these lands. Something was happening. Balfar did not feel like being disturbed and so he remained atop the mountain, watching.
A figure leapt to the mountaintop and stopped, standing behind Balfar.
With a haunting voice, the figure spoke.
I am Raskdi, the "Creator" of the Planets... You have been chosen to become a successor...
Ex-Agent
Daniel Able hated the sound of it. Ex-Agent. It meant he was a prt of something, something more thna the sum of his parts...
But that was over. He was no longer the "Boy with the future in the DEO." He was now the "Boy who had to disappear."
As he looked out onto the city of Valient from his vantage point on top of the Tiaran Tower, Daniel swept his pale hand through his tousled short cut brown hair. He pulled his .50 desert eagle out from it's shoulder holster and checked to see that it was fully loaded. It was.
He looked out onto the bustling city of 400 million. A single tear rolled down his cheek.
"Cristina... don't they know that I had to do it? For you? For us?"
Cristina... his partner and lover. She disappeared too, after questioning the integrity of DEO Head Lee Natarin.
What options did Daniel have? None save for walking into Natrin's office, turning over his badge, and shooting him once in the face.
A .50 round doesn't leave a lot of face left.
Now the entire DEO was out for his blood. Daniel wiped away his tear, and sighed. There was nothing left for him in Valient.
However, where can a man with an entire elite police force after him go?
As Daniel thought about his future, a figure approached him and sat down next to Daniel, startling him. Before Daniel could speak, the figure held up his hands.
I am Agazi, the "Creator" of Peace and Harmony. Daniel, you are a chosen one...
"Chosen?" Kain asked rather uncaringly. He did not turn, he meerly looked out to that thundering ocean of pain and torment, at those ghastly wraiths which rode the waves.
"Explain yourself" Kain asked softly, his voice heard with perfect clarity, even though a purple thunderbolt crashed towards the ocean near them, filling the air with a roar of unholy electricity.
A figure leapt to the mountaintop and stopped, standing behind Balfar.
With a haunting voice, the figure spoke.
I am Raskdi, the "Creator" of the Planets... You have been chosen to become a successor...
Balfar looked up at Raskdi. He didn't like being so rudely disturbed.
"Yeah, that's great. I'm no creator of planets. Just a wandering mage."
Daniel blinked his eyes, and looked at the stranger beside him. How did he sneak up behind him? After all, he was sitting upon the highest building in Valient.
Daniel sighed, and tucked his desert eagle back into it's shoulder holster.
"Look, whoever you are. I think you have the wrong guy. Any "Creator" of Peace and Harmony has overlooked my life long ago..."

The fire crisped nicely inside the cave. The flames seemingly dancing around to the tones of a playful melody escaping from the panflute of the man. The man who made the fire, the man who made the panflute. The night was going to be cold, Lyons could tell, so he was glad to have found the cave.
He had been travelling for days now, it was always tought travelling from one city to another. The cold, the rain, the long walks, the vicious creatures that lurked the woods, the bandits... But he didn't mind, he loved exploring the land, seeing the world, but now the time had come for rest. Rest from the world, rest from today. He intended to stay in the cave for a few days. It would give him excellent time to work on a few new stories and songs, like the melody he was playing right now. Lyons had just taken his flute, and he started playing. A few dischorded notes at first, but they had soon turned into a rather enjoyable melody...

I am one of the five "Creators." But we five brothers and sister have become wreary of being the "Creators." Now, we have descended from the heavens to find those worthy of succeeding us... From my scrutiny on war and battle, your star has shined the brightest. Therefore, you have been chosen to be tested...
Daniel blinked his eyes, and looked at the stranger beside him. How did he sneak up behind him? After all, he was sitting upon the highest building in Valient.
Daniel sighed, and tucked his desert eagle back into it's shoulder holster.

Agazi laughed.
Daniel, your life can change... Your habits and performance can change... Nothing is eternal...

Balfar looked up at Raskdi. He didn't like being so rudely disturbed.

Balfar, you have enormous potential. Being a homeless, wandering mage is too unbecoming of a man of this type of potential.

With a flash of lightning, Alexander arrived in front of the cave. Without waiting, Alexander walked straight in. Stopping in front of Lyons, Alexander extended his hand.
Lyons, that is your name isn't it? You have been chosen as a possible successor to the "Creators..."

Upon the entering of the unknown man, Lyons hastefully dropped his flute and drew his rapier. The edge only inches from the man's neck, Lyons eyed the man nervously.
"How do you know my name? Are you a brigand? Because if you are you'll have a new smile soon, one that goes ear to ear. I'm giving you exactly to the count of twenty to explain yourself before my hand get's a bit twitchy."
"Do you not mean we?" Kain said rather cynically. Surely he knew that he was bound to a demon!
Kain sighed once more. But then a thought came to mind.
Life....creation. To create? To become a creator of life?
Yes. To form it under your own will, to manipulate it so that we could become like Gods!
I have no desire for that. And do you not mean our will eh demon?
Of course, we work in both of our interests. Obligation is such a wonderful concept is it not?
It is ironic to see that my star has shined the brightest when I have done nothing but destroy everything which I touch.
Never the less, let us go with them to discover the true nature of this task.
For once I agree with you. But this is for me to decide how to create if I am to do any should I decide to.
Remember, you need me.
And may I remind you, you need me.
I know....I know Kain. By the Abyss I know.
Kain turned around after a second of counsilling with the Brightblade.
"Very well. Test me, show me what I should become should I find favor. But this is my choice if I decide to become a "creator", all I am doing is seeing what I would become should I accept this..responcibility. I have had too much responcibility which has forced me to abandon it for a greater responcibility."
Kain went with him
Flattery didn't concern Balfar, but he found it obvious that this man would not give up.
"Alright. I shall come with you and check things out."
"Nothing is eternal? What do you mean nothing is eternal?"
The being beside Daniel seemed to be wanting to show him something.
"Is there somewhere you want to take me? Well, you know what, let's go. Theres nothing left for me here..."
Daniel looked down at Valient one final time.
"Goodbye... Christina."

"What?" Kain turned.
"If that means releasing the demon into this physical plane, then I would agree." Kain said, his voice speaking quickly although he kept his wits.
(OOC Seriously, you cannot release this demon. Kain..urm...will be trapped with it for a long time until Rave does something. It has already occoured, so I will say this in the past. So...can we work something out? I do not think the Creators would want a flipping demon in the world, running riot, a demon warlord to be precise.)

He took his panflute from his belt and put the instrument to his lips. Moments later a cheerful melody was heard. The mountaintop seemed to change, turning into a green meadow with beautiful flowers, where deer and unicorn froliced, a creek gently streaming. Lyons picked up the pace of the tempo and molded it. The notes no longer sounded joyous, but stern, almost military. The meadow seemed to change, no longer were the deer playing. The flowers were trampled under the march of a thousand feet. Catapult and Ballista were set up and on both sides of the creek, armies of the world were fighting. Dead bodies were scattered as pollen, the ground was soaked in blood. Battle cries and the sound of warhorns echoed through their heads.
Gently Lyons ended the melody, and the mountaintop returned. All were there. No more deer, no more ballista...

Kain turned and looked quizically towards him.
"What? Surely, if you had observed our existances so well, you would already know. I find it odd that I would have to list my skills, for I am not exactly proving myself for a job. You have chosen me, for many reasons, beased upon my past. My life is my proof, my actions speak for themselves. If I have existed doing as I wish and you come to me, than let myself be judged on my actions during my existance yes? Should I describe my life to you then?" Kain said with an intellegent voice, his quick wit towards those who would allow him to become what he wished. He had a slight sarcasm to his voice.
Kain crossed his arms, returning the gaze of that being. Kain wondered where he was....not that it really mattered.
He had listened to that person's tune, or rather...experianced it. He was impressed, yet it had not stirred him. He had seen these things before, he knew that it was all an illusion. Kain had uses for them, but that was all they were. Illusions.
Kain awaited their answer.
Daniel stepped forward and raised his hand.
"My name is Able. Agent Daniel Able of the now defunct Valient Department of Extra-normal Operations.
"I have none of the skills you all seem to possess, but my job has always been to take down your types.

Kain sighed and closed his eyes. He recalled some of his life into the present. He open his eyes once again after a hard long think, recalling each memory in turn.
"Well. Looks like it is going to a history lesson for some of you. I will expend some of the details, for my life would carry into volumes of texts. I will...list my "acheivements" if you can call them that."

Then I claimed rulership of Velmora and did so for two years. During this time I was victorous against another Xzar rebellion, using the Brightblade, a holy blade of my people, with the assistance of Rave Shentavo saving my nation, yet enduring vile injuries in the process. "
"Then I came immortal, a vampire. I became a Shentavo, one of the most pwoerful vampire families, sired by the greatest Shentavo and mother. Rave Shentavo, the half vampire half...angel." Kain almost said Sepaham, but thought better of it.
"I passed the Shentavo Acadamy, and progressed during my trainig under Rave Shentavo. I passes Manipulations, Elementals both fire and air, Adavanced Magic and Advanced Combat."
"During this time, I came under the watchful eye of the INquisitors, a group of vampire hunters. Under the curse of my existance I came into strife with them. I saved thier city at one point, and in another, I became captured by them....only to run into the puppeter of them. Mephistopheles. I did not fight him of course, but with the assistance of gained allies I was freed."
"I sired a young girl." Kain sighed and carried on after a point.
"Daniella, now...deceased." Kain said, that was all he would say on that matter.
"I was exiled for it from the Shentavo's for this action, I was only a fledgling and fledgings are not allowed to sire. But I had no choice in the matter, for she...Nevermind. You know that, and those who do not, do not need to know. I as exiled and placed under a curse. A curse that I would not wish to explain. Look to the bible should you wish to know. This curse was placed unto me by Qui, the son of Rave Shentavo. And he...he also exiled Daniella. I then became Kain Irenicus....a name of my own choosing." Kain said, the word "Irenicus" meaning broken one, exiled one.
"There are far more events than that, but...as you think, my actions have deemed me worthy."
Kain mentioned nothing of the demonic sword. It simply did not come to mind.

And what of your demonic sword, Kain? Doesn't it "assist" you? Hm?
"It is not mine. It belongs to no-one. This blade has been a grudging ally. Damn it, you already know this! Must you rub not salt but sulpher into these wounds? Fine, I will inform you all. The Brightblade, the name for the sword which hold a demon warlord prison is a weapon which I rely upon, not out of choice however. It feeds me, due to the curse that Qui placed upon me, sustains me. I exist due to a vow I took, out of obligation do I stay. If I could leave this world I would, this world holds nothing but death before my eyes." Kain said, knowing most would interpret the part about seeing death as a metaphor.
It was not.

Lyons stood a bit baffled by Kain's words, then started to applaud
"Magnificent, magnificent story..I couldn't think of a better one myself and I wrote the Tale of Spire Infinita. Absolutely beautiful tale. You might want to work out the ending a bit better though, crowds nowadays don't like unhappy endings. But the demon warlord touch, and the Daniella romance..exquisite!"
Lyons turned to Oragkon
"If you had told me I was going to be taken to a bard's contest, you just should have said so...I could have written up something."
"I find it amusing to think that this is a tale of some sorts. This has all occoured to me, and many details I have missed. It was though someone has written this entire thing for there amusement, is it not? Like some sick story for them to enjoy?" Kain said irritated.

"Maybe..maybe not. The only thing is I don't like it here. I just want to get back as quick as possible...leaving you to such the blood out of young virgins and those five oldies, who if you ask me seem to be one coin short of a purse if they think they can make me do anything, to do their creating."

(OOC: Do you guys mind if four of the "Creators" disappear except for Alexander?)
Somebody behind the gathered candidates laughed. Surprised,t he candidates turned around and discovered a man standing against a column laughing at the antics of the candidates.
Standing up, the man walked over to the "Creator," Alexander and bowed deeply.
"Hello, Creator... It is a pleasure to finally meet you..."
Turning to the others, the man bowed.
"My name is Amistad Crusade, my father was the Swordmaster of Cala, Lance Crusade."
Turning to Kain, Amistad bowed deeply.
"Kain, it is a pleasure to finally meet you... My father spoke often of your abilities... The chance for finally meeting you gives me such joy."
"Maybe..maybe not. The only thing is I don't like it here. I just want to get back as quick as possible...leaving you to such the blood out of young virgins and those five oldies, who if you ask me seem to be one coin short of a purse if they think they can make me do anything, to do their creating."
"Oh please. I have never feasted upon mortals, not that I could anymore. Demons on the other hand, are one of the greatest life essances...as is angel. I could not kill mortals now. Not unless someone killed them for me." Kain said in resentment for being said to do those things.
When this figure came up to him and bowed, Kain did not return it. He bowed to few, few where worthy of his respect. Those few who he would have bowed to were either dead or consider him traitor.
"I wish the feeling was mutual but it is not. It would seem that my actions have become rather....well known. I do not like the word famous. It suggests that the good I have done outweighs the bad, and we all know that is false." Kain said honestly to Amistad, no bitterness or resentment within his voice. Only plain fact.

"What a merry gathering this seems to be! So joyous... One can just feel the love in this place."
He turned to Alexander and made an over-elegant and over-acted bow
"Oh tell me wise and noble wizard, can I go home now?"
The chosen ones awoke to find themselves on a high mountain-top. As they stood to reorient themselves, they found five robed men standing facing them.
WE ARE THE CREATORS OF THIS WORLD... WE WERE BORN EONS AGO AND WE HAVE SERVED LONG ENOUGH AS THE PROTECTORS... WE HAVE GROWN WREARY OF THIS LIFE AND NOW WE ONLY SEEK PEACE... THEREFORE WE HAVE CHOSEN YOU TO BECOME OUR SUCCESSORS... NOW WE WISH FOR YOU TO REVEAL TO EVERYONE THE PARTICULAR SKILLS YOU POSSESS...
(OOC: Now, everyone step forward and list our abilities...)
Balfar looked over everyone, from behind the cover of his hooded cloak. This was definately interesting. He spoke in an ordinary, soft human voice.
"I'm Balfar. Ex-demon of Lord Arithon, now mortal mage. For the moment anyway. As far as abilities, well, since I aquired the Tear of the Gods, I can do pretty much anything as far as magic that is within my resources."
"Balfar had some experiances with me in the past. We have...assisted each other numerous times. It shows the extent of our actions that we know of each other..." Kain simply said and looked at Balfar.
Balfar a nodded toward Kain in acknowledgement.
"Indeed this is so. We are..... accustomed with eachother."
"It is a testement at least of these individuals judgement of power when they choose those who are bound by fate to consistantly encounter one another....it seems fitting." Kain said rather dryly.
Balfar agreed. Even though he had not encountered Kain since the fateful day of Daniella's capture by Mephisto, he had a feeling they would meet again.
"Indeed it does. It was bound to happen nonetheless. These beings were merely the excuse this time."
Balfar hadn't quite got all the information about his current situation.
"So, what is all this about? I don't appreciate being disrupted."

Alexander glanced wearily into the face of each of the gathered beings.
I am the "Creator of the Heavens," Alexander... In the eons that I and my brothers and sister have worked at this task, we have grown extremely weary of our burden. The burden that is the Price of Immortality... Although immortality has its perks, we cannot live such a life any further. But before we can leave our immortality, we must choose worthy successors to replace us... Therefore, we have chosen you, the most talented beings that currently walk this earth to be tested... Tested to see whether you are worthy of being a "Creator," chosen to see if you can handle the price of immortality...
Balfar shook his head.
"There is a reason why I am not immortal. Believe me, I have had the option and considered it many times, but mortallity suits me just fine. I once was immortal, I've been there and don't wish to return. Sorry to burst your bubble."

"Ha, you believe these guys? 'We are the creators!' Please...I'm a bard, I can make the distinction between a tale and reality, i believe. And this, is a tale, and one that's a bit over the top, i might add. And unless someone wants to stop me..I'll be going now."
Balfar merely stared at the bard from behind his hood.
"Do not be so quick to doubt such things. These are definately beings of power, can you not sense it with your gifted hearing?"
Balfar sat upon a large rock to his left, leaning his staff against it, awaiting a response.

"Do not mock which you do not understand. Allow them to show thier true power, and see if you doubt it then. Consider it writing matieral. Either way, you win. The Fools who promised Divinity or if the coin lands the other way, you will gain far more than a simple tale."

Amistad rolled his eyes when Lyons the bard spoke. Slightly angered at the utter disrespect that Lyons was giving the "Creator" Alexander, Amistad moved towards Lyons and placed a restraining hand upon Lyons's shoulder.
"Do not question what you do not understand... All will be told in the future..."
Without looking at Lyons, Amistad looked at Alexander.
"When are our tests going to start?"
Alexander shook with anger at Lyons's utter foolishness.
FOOL!!! UTTER FOOL!!! If you do not believe this, then begone from this verdant plane and return to your wandering life as a homeless bard!!! Do you not know anything!?!
Balfar watched as the one known as Alexander began to yell at the bard. He thought these 'creators' a little more wise to become angered by some simple skepticism. Perhaps they were not wise at all. Immortality does things to the mind, Balfar knew that much.

IC:
Alexander turned towards Lyons his eyes seemingly burning with anger. Calming down, Alexander gestured for the men and women to follow him, into the endless void...
Balfar slipped off his rock and followed Alexander's gesture. Mind already made up, the least he could do was take a look at what he was going to pass down.

Lyons saw the anger in Alexanders eyes and smirked, thinking to himself.
You may be a Creator, but even you get angry. Good to know that you have flaws, old man, good to know you have flaws.
Lyons crossed his arms, looked at the other people and followed Alexander.
Into one uncertainity, into the other. All promising greatness, but only the taste of ashes within the dish.
Cease you cynicism please for one moment!
